I thinks it's time to flag this hide for archiving. It's been over a month since the Needs Maintenance log and the CO hasn't responded. It is definitely not where the hint indicates it should be.
I think it's gone again, too. The tree's roots are well exposed and nothing is hiding there.
Cache is definitely gone. I found part of the log laying in the grass. Please message me with an address and I'll mail it to you. I have nothing that can be used as a cache to leave it in.
I was expecting to have to walk down into the dry creek bed, but no, it was an easy find at the top. TFTC. We stopped the night in the rest area.

520Km from home.
Day two on our "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" tour, a trip to the Mornington Peninsular (Vic) for an Ex Army Apprentice reunion.
A quick roadside stop for a biscuit and a cuppa, hit the phone to see if there were any caches nearby. Bingo 37m away, made a quick find and replaced the cache.
We took nothing but memories, we left nothing but footprints,
The hide, the container and the log are all in good condition and ready for the next finder.
Thanks for the cache Slider & Smurf (adopted by The Bronze)

found it thankyou to some one who placed a new cache there. left a couple of erasers in the tin
shaz and I were tearing our hair out wondering why we could not find it before lol ( that was our very first search )

The container was definitely missing so I replaced with a micro eclipse tin until the co can restore the larger one

This one may be gone which is a shame cause this is an iconic Australian location loved the stump though!
very sad ..Shaz and I drove out there today, this was my first hunt and did not find anything. had GPS with the exact location on it and no luck. hope nobody has found and removed it, but it was still fun trying off to the Big Bannana next.
No luck I'm afraid. A few muffles about, but waited a while and "stretched the legs". No sign of the cache.
Had a look around GZ, didn't find even with the help of the hint.

Fun little find on way from Gunnedah to Bathurst to visit our very good friends Aaron & Cass. Great day, good spot for a cache.

Used to travel by here regularly in 80s and had the opportunity to show the family. Not sure it's the same black stump I knew but still good for a laugh. Thanks for the cache.

Drove across from Uralla to Bathurst with Bettyboo3747 by a some what convoluted route, grabbing caches when the mood took us.
There really is a black stump here! Read the history, and grabbed the cache.
Thanks, Robmc.

Cache container was found out of hide and opened. It appears to have been found by muggles going by the entries in the log.
I re hid the cache

Knew it had had to be somewhere. Got home and told She who must be Obeyed where the Black Stump was. Thanks Acko
Found en route to the Warrumbungles for a camping adventure. We were very impressed with this rest area - thanks!
Our plan was to drive from Coonabarabran to Coolah along the Warrumbungle Way, but the navigator had other ideas and took us along what started as a sealed road but eventually became gravel then sandy dirt. It was nice country going through the Binnaway Nature Reserve but the navigator gave directions to go along a sandy bush track which seemed a very unlikely way; however we persevered until the track ran out. After a backtrack for a few kilometres to a more substantial road that had been bypassed was again reached and we opted to see if that lead out. Eventually it did and we arrived at the cache site some 2 hours after setting out that morning. If the Warrumbungle Way had been used the distance would have been a mere 80k and probably about a bit over and hour.
The cache was easy to locate, but before it could be returned a truck with 3 road workers pulled up and they all hopped out. We just had to hope they did not take much notice of someone wondering off to the side.

On the way to Coona for the weekend so we dropped by to grab this one. Nice spot for a rest or BBQ. Not sure I approve of method used by a previous cacher to disguise the hide. Thanks Slider & Smurf
Lunch stop and a quick cache pickup. Signed log dropped off GC and added a bit of natural camo to the hole in a hurry as a road maintenance crew just pulled up. TFTC
Nice easy find. Have just read owner's request for natural camo. Sorry, I replaced what was there. and it was not very natural looking. Maybe the next finder will do something better. Took the TB Monty Motorhome, and left my etrex behind. Thank goodness I discovered it missing and only had to back track about 10k. Could have been worse, as we did about 300k today. Anyway, I guess Monty enjoyed the ride!
Just a stop, missed the pub by 104 years. Black stump one of many seen. Tftc. Took bug
I think this is at least the 3rd original black stump I have visited. I guess you get that with an icon. A nice little rest area as well. Took Geocoin. Thanks Slider & Smurf.
A nice easy find. Could use a little more camouflage though. A bit too easy to spot.
With another six hours of driving still to do today, we stopped quickly here in the hope of finding this cache. Unfortunately there were a couple of caravans of grey nomads and a Juicy van of backpackers also here having a break.
We just couldn't wait for them to move on and had to go.
Hopefully we can get this one next time. Already two DNF's already because of muggles

Looked in what we assumed was the right spot and it was, but the cache was pretty much buried. We dug around using a stick and finally located it. Tftc
Found this neat cache on our road trip North to Noosa.
Many thanks for the cache and breaking our journey.

# 125. Mmmm. Didn't even have to look for this one- just walked up and it was sitting absolutely uncovered with geocache written all over it. I picked it up and thought it must have been emptied out as it weighed nothing, but the log was inside. Could do with another sheet as I have started to write on the back. Took: Nothing, Left: Pathtag. Covered a bit better and hopefully it will stay that way. TFTC

Quick find on way to Tamworth. Break was just what I needed. left toy whistle. No sign of TB's. tftc
Stopped to use the rest area for its intended purpose and it was only a short walk and this to find this one.

This was the fifth of 10 caches I found on my weekend visit to Coonabarrabran.
Of course the black stump should have a cache.
I was I need of the facilities here as well, so I appreciated the break.
I could smell something pretty bad whilst in search of the cache, and found it to be a kelpie left to rot only 20 m from the GZ.
It has been there a while and still bore it's collar.

Nice easy find with sunnycornerfarm. Thought it may have been a tree closer to the creek, but the GPS put us right.
I always do this...if there are two ways to get to something, two ways to go around a GZ...I always go the long way!!
We presume it was fellow cachers who gave a friendly honk as they drove past waving and as we returned to our geowaggon after returning cache to its hidey-hole. A great game this is
A lot of work has been done in this area since we were last here. Great place to stop for a break.

This is just one of at least three locations in Australia who claim to be the origin of the 'Black Stump'.
Two motor homes with muggles were parked close to the hide, with their generators humming and brumming
Must say that it was the smallest 2 L container I have ever seen.

A nice little cache - I always wondered where the bloody hell the Black Stump was - now I know......Never been to whoop whoop , but now at least I can say I've been beyond the Black Stump!

Toowoomba 10.12. This seemed like an out of the way road, but there were plenty of rest areas and lots of traffic. None of it was here and it was a quick grab. Thanks.

We stopped here for lunch which was quite convienent for us. There were a few muggles about but they stayed in their vans and didn't take much notice of a couple of kids mucking around.

Found on my ride home from Canberra to the Sunshine Coast. Stinking hot day - 38C, and I just about died on my motor cycle gear. Thanks.
540. Quick Look and decided this was worth replacing as I was sure I had the correct location with the description in the hint. I do like the location also, Thanks for bringing us here Slider&Smurf
As Chip said I was quite excited to go beyond this Black Stump. Sadly the cache appears to be missing in action
Thanks for the stop anyway!
Thanks for the stop anyway!
This was to be the last find of the night and Hoojar was quite excited to see another stump claiming to be THE STUMP. Sadly we read that it had burnt down. And sadder still was the lack of cache. We had a very good look for this one, but came up empty handed. There wasn't many places it could be and the suspicious collection of rocks that were scattered around the root systems seemed to tell that the cache had been muggled. I even had a peek in the bin nearby but it looked like it had been emptied recently and didn't have any cache like containers on top. If we had a container in the car, Hoojar and I would have replaced it. But not this time.
This one was a quick drive-by while heading east back towards Sydney and the end of our short holiday tomorrow. It's also the 2nd town we have visited that claimed to have the original black stump. Blackall in Queensland was the first.
Travelling from Dubbo to Bendemeer - I think I'll claim another find for this one as it is a new cache in a different spot (at S31*44.667 E149*42.344). Discovered a couple of coins/TBs and moved on another two. This is a better spot and more muggle-proof than before. Thanks Geckos.
Had to be cautious of a few muggles that were stopped here, took 'June Geoswag Coin'. TFTC
85 - Once again glad to find a cache that eluded me on the last attempt! Thanks once again to the 'geckos' for the replacement. TFTC
This one is without doubt missing from the listed GZ. The area looks as if it has been really cleaned up. Have replaced the cache about 160m away, hopefully in a safer location. It is a 1 Ltr Sistema container and has a few trackables in it. Try these coords until the owner can get out there and decide what to do: S31*44.667 E149*42.344. TFTH
Alas, we couldnt find this one either. GPS took us several metres from the obvious spot (yes, we revealed the clue) had a really good look, and extended our search area to less likely spots, but still no joy.
A pleasant place to stop for a breather, whilst on the way to Mudgee. However after a bit of a search, reading previous logs & resorting to the clue we can only conclude that this one has gone AWOL, or muggled! Unless it was the one across the creek, in which case I was not about to go exploring in Joe Blakes country.
Some caches can be found easier by leaving the GPS in the vehicle, and this was one of them. gerrynewgirl wandered off down into the probably snake infested creek whilst I just walked to the given hint and quickly found the cache. Ah, some of us have it, and some of us don't! TFTC TN left token.
Yeah thanks weroamin, but hey at least I got to take your piccie. Nice easy cache TFTC.
Hi easy find altho seemed to be out by 20 feet or so

Dipping CKayak's "Double Dragon" Coin in this cache to update the miles - we found it here, but it hadn't been logged in.
My first cache!! Mum & Dad and my sister Glowbug did the formalities. A nice break on our way down to Canberra from Tamworth. We took the dragon geocoin and will leave it in a cache once we're settled. Thanks Bronze!!
