We found this giant golf ball and tee just down the street from our favorite discount store: Sams Club, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
On the campus of Benedictine University (http://www.ben.edu/athletics/mens/soccer/) in Lisle, Illinois, you will find a giant rock painted as a soccer ball.
This is a giant baseball in a closed down car dealership. It used to be Jackie Robinson Toyota (I think). It is in Warner Robins, Georgia. Why they left the baseball I do not know. But it was the perfect stop for us to get a smilie after a DNF on a nearby micro cache.
New York City
Giant basketball and net outside the NBA Store on 5th Avenue at 52nd Street.
We were in the city to see the tree at Rockefeller Center, and walked up 5th Avenue to see the store displays, when we found the NBA Store with a giant basketball.

I found this giant arrow a couple of weeks ago. I tried to get the shot last week but when I came together with my camera person it was raining to hard. I got back over there today and I wish I had a ladder so I could make a picture that would 've had me drawing an imaginary bow to go with the arrow.

FINALLY I founds some oversized sports equipment that hadn't been logged! After seven months of The Usual Suspects like Nostrada having long beaten me to the local opportunities, this was a relief to stumble across this at Pier 39 in San Francisco today, thankfully before LCs get shut down. We were actually in the area to log the torpedo LC.
I found the time measuring device on the factory floor in Haan. Haan is a town nearly Düsseldorf. The capital of Nordrhine Westfalia, Germany
This bicycle sits atop a building in Gastonia, North Carolina. Biking is big in this area with several local clubs offering weekly rides of varying distances and intensity. I have been searching for one of these for a long tiome. I wonder if Lance would come out of retirement if we let him ride this one in the Tour da France? Thanks for the fun cache.

This giant bowling pin is outside of Jubilee Bowl on Michigan Road in Indianapolis, Indiana
Much of the area around the bowling alley has changed over the years but Jubilee Bowl has been a constant.

This one has been on my list for awhile now. After reading ALL the logs to make sure I wouldn't duplicate a log (even though there were duplicates of quite a few in the bay area), I finally found one. While hubby & I B&B'd it in Monterey, CA this weekend...I found this oversized sporting equipment. Now, keep in mind depending on the size of your boat it is oversized. We have a Ski Nautique and it is definitely and oversized anchor for our boat. I'm glad I can now cross this one off my list. It was a fun one!
What a cool idea for a locationless cache. We accidently found this bowl pin on our way home after geocaching. It is on the corner of Broadway and Russell in Missoula, MT.
This is a giant basketball shoe outside the Steve Alford Inn, owned by Steve Alford, in New Castle, Indiana.
Found this giant peg and golf ball made in one peace of the stem of a tree. It is situated at Vreta Kloster, Linköping, Sweden.
Found this ball bat while hunting other caches. It's located at little league park NW of Nashville, Tennessee

This 6' fishing lure was found in a sporting goods store in Correlville, Iowa.
Here is a pic of the sign out in front of Classic Bowling in Salt Lake City, Utah. My wife was standing below the sign w/ the GPS but you can't see her in the pic, sorry.
I have been searching for one of these for quite a while. Thought I had one of a giant roller skate months ago, but it had been moved. Found this Major League ball and bat east of my home off Interstate 30 enroute to Greenville, TX.
We found this " Big Tennisracket" of St.Gallen in Switzerland

Golfing kit seems to be popular! These are massive golfing tees to be found outside the Pro Shop near Cape Town, South Africa.
We found our hockey player statue in Hull Quebec. Check out the pictures - TFTH.
While on a shopping trip Paul pointed out an oversized golfball and tee just inside the entrance to a large chain store called 'sports soccer' However Paul was too embarrased to go in it and take the required picture so it was left to me. So off I went on my own much to the amusement of local shoppers and staff and attached is the picture I took.
The shop is located in Waterfields retail park, Watford, Herts, England.

Found this one in front of a Golf Shop in Seoul Korea. Bet it would be a task to get a hole in one using this ball
I will provide photos in the next couple days when I return to Virginia. I cannot download from my camera ... poor planning on my part ... no cable.

This is the "Football Globe FIFA World Championship 2006" in Hannover, Germany.
Its weight is about 60 tons. At daytime it is a football museum, at night it hosts cultural events.
This globe is rather new, it was built just a few weaks ago and will be torn down after World Championship 2006.
More information (German only, sorry): http://www.hannover.de/deutsch/fifawm2006/aktuelles/wm_globn.htm
Thanks,

Found these oversized tennis raquets and balls at JB's Tennis Shop in Williamsville NY.
This oversize hockey goal surrounds the door to an outdoor roller hockey center in Irvine, California, and giant hockey sticks frame the building. TFTC.
In a roundabout in Ljusdal (northern Sweden) we found this object, typical of the most popular winter sport in the area - bandy!
Found in Sherbrooke, Québec. This was in front of the waterskiing center right in the heart of Sherbrooke. The actual mayor was a member of the national team some 25 years ago. It is part of an urban park and the city has invested a lot to embellish the whole surrounding. It is a very busy and very nice place to be in Sherbrooke. Don't miss it when you come.
For once in my life I'm in front of the 8 ball. If you want to get in front of the 8 ball you will need to go to Ely, NV and stop by this local watering hole.
There are 3 of these at the entrances to this park, and 3 soccer balls as well, all larger than life.

Caching with Horsegeeks and Bushwack Bob when we saw this oversized baseball at the Charlotte Knights stadium. The baseball is actually a water tower.
We found this "super sized" bow and arrow on the side of a museum in Thermopolis, WY along WY 120.
If you think its expensive to live in Hyde Park in Austin, Texas, you can only imagine what kind of costs are involved with being a member of the Hyde Park Gym. The gym markets itself as a natural way to get in shape. One thing I dont think is natural is the gargantuan biceps on the arm which sports this absurdly-sized barbell atop the gym's storefront.
Just Sports, in Foothills Mall in Tucson, AZ, uses a pair of oversized bats as part of its regular facade. TFTC!

All over the Olympic Training Center in Coloroado Springs are sculptures of oversized athletes and equipment representing every sport in the games. Here I am unde some giant volley ball players.
The "Mitt"
A sculpture by Gerard Tsutakawa, 1999
Seattle, Washington
The following information about the sculpture was condensed from several websites: "Gerard Tsutakawa is a metal and wood sculptor whose works adorn public spaces from Seattle to Japan. Locally, his most recognizable, and sometimes controversial, bronze sculpture is the "Mitt", located outside of Safeco Field. While The "Mitt" has been criticized for the large hole in the center as commentary on the Mariner's ability to play ball, most will also agree it is for children (and adults!) to climb through and interact with the sculpture."
Thanks for maintaining this sporting locationless cache for the past three years.

The Salinas Bowl uses neon oversized bowling balls and pins to encourage people to play. They also use an oversized martini glass to encourage other activity. I did not find that much to do in Salinas, so all the encouragement is nice. But bowling reminds me of how people keep score, and how dgreno vetoed my idea to use an oversized pencil that is integral to this sport, as well as golf, darts, and other activity.
Found this over sized soccer ball down town Anchorage, Alaska. It Is at owners house and the owner said it is used as a display at soccer ball games.
On the walkway into Invesco Field at Mile High (Denver, CO), there are large pieces of football equipment, including this football helmet facemask.
I found this roundabout in Massamá, near Lisbon (Portugal). It goes by the name of "Rotunda das Selecções" and it was built after the Euro'2004 as an homage to all the teams that took part of it. There are 16 "big" soccer balls in this field, representing the 16 teams:
Group A: Portugal, Greece, Spain, Russia
Group B: France, England, Croatia, Switzerland
Group C: Sweden, Denmark, Italia, Bulgaria
Group D: Czech Republic, Netherlands, Germany, Latvia
The final game of the european cup was Portugal (0) - Greece (1)

Found this in Fallon, Nevada. It is inside of a navy base. Very big. I do not know what goes on inside, but what a weird place for a golfball. Always wondered what happened in there? Will find out one day
Here is an oversized Football in the hands of an oversized Football player. Found in the second district in Vienna, Austria.

Located in the Beech Haven Babtist Church parking lot in Athens, Georgia--on West Broad St.
It is informatonal for those who want to sign up for "upward" basketball and cheerleading.
i believe that upward is a program for children that are at risk.

This is a picture of an over-sized soccer ball which is at the entrance of Eastlake Recreational Park in Eastlake Ohio. The park has soccer fields (obviously), baseball fields, hiking trails, and a bark park for the pups.
While looking for "Great American Pastime" cache, found these nearby - big bat & big baseball - at Eastmonte Park in Altamonte Springs, FL
I never knew about this cache, it is two miles away from my house! It was raining outside so coordinates may not be exaxt. I placed a cache about 1/4 mile aaway over by baseball field. You can climb on thes ovcersized soccer ball!
This is on top of Canyon Cycles in Kittredge Colorado. When they opened the store a few years ago, I saw them put it up. Now I am pleased to use this for a cache.
I found this oversized golf ball attached to the roof of a miniature golf course near the corner of Main St. and Route 4 in Sanford, Maine.
Shooting is a big sport here in the west. This oversized Winchester is located on top of the Traditions West Building in Cody, Wyoming. This was a sporting goods store until just a couple of years ago.
This is a rather dim photo of the big archery target on the side of Altier Archery MFG. on Route 6 in Honesdale, PA. The little yellow thing I am holding up is the GPSr, but it's hard to see. There is another similar target on the other side, but the arrow is broken off.
Spotted this large fishing hook as I was driving down Rt 5 in Auburn, NY. Apparently it represented a company which I saw in the back.
Split, Croatia
On a recent 17 day journey through Eastern Europe, I found this huge fish hook along the beautiful shores of the Adriatic Sea in Split, Croatia.
I also found a bench mark close by and couldn't resist loggin it!
Found 9-17; logged 9-28-05

A huge bicycle symbolizes the great number of bikes in the Netherlands. This one is situated in Oosterhout in the south of Holland and marks the entrance of the town.
We found a big basket ball on top of a phone tower at the Dandenong BasketBall Stadium Melbourne Australia, It is hard to get a good photo because of the size of the stadium, and a very busy freeway is behind it.

FINALLY! After two years of having this one on my list, I got it! Very common bowling pin, but hey, it works!! TFTC.
I am both a cacher and a long distance hiker. One of the pieces of equipment I take with me is a cell phone. The one I take isn't like this one because the battery would probably weigh 200 pounds. It is located next to RT-16 in Ossipee, New Hampshire.
This gigantic bike is located on top of Harrell's Bicycles on Broad River Road in Columbia, SC. I didn't climb up to see if it was a ten or twelve speed, or whether it had road or hybrid tires, but I can say with all certainty that it's pretty darn big.
