I have placed a multi-cache to replace this one, it is called Huia Reborn, and is up and running!

Archiving this given its condition, lack of maintenance, and owner not active.
A real nice walk up hill but disappointing to find a very wet unkept cache. Needs ATTENTION now it is mouldy.

Cache needs temporary archiving until contents and logbook replaced in new airtight container. All the contents were wet and moldy. Cheers Gav
Steep hike up the hill. Got to GZ easily enough, ended up having to use the hint to find the cache. Found it, and it was not in good condition. The cache was full of mold, it was wet and the logbook was sodden. I didn't even fill in the log. The cache needs some serious attention and should be temporarily archived until it has been refreshed. Cheers Gav [644]
Found it okay. Great view.
Cache is really wet, couldn't write in log as notebook was too wet.

GPS was steering us AWAY from the cache! We eventually found it and the clue made sense. Note: The cache is extremely waterlogged. The notebook was very soggy, so I did not put an entry. The walk up to the area is quite a climb!

The cache is very wet, I wasn't able to use the logbook. I've added a TB - hopefully an incentive to get more people up here and dry it out! Also, the coordinates appear to be wrong - out by about 15m - I used the clue and found it easily, otherwise I would have been in quite the wrong place.
Took lightstick, left TB Terminator

Found eaily enough. Log book is soaked, unable to scribe my visit in it due to the pages would tear. The Floppy Drive is rusting as well. The cache needs some TLC.
+/- Nothing
Cheers, Rolly.

Well, I get the dunce's hat for this one. Just assumed I'd have to walk right up to the top so headed off from the road without the GPS on. Turned on the GPS at the top and found out I'd overshot the cache by nearly 1km! Was really kicking myself once I got out of the bush again. Never mind, I really needed the exercise.

What sensatinal views you get from this cache. Another goregous day in the Kapati so thought we would do this. Thank goodness for the coolness of the bush canopy.

Allan (my Dad) and I found it! It was raining really bad. The trek 300m up the hill to the stile was really slippery. Be warned, it also looks really easy to climb, but will challenge your muscles!
Weird... the cache description says the cache is a clear plastic container, but the one we found was spraypainted black and gold... ?
Took a gluepen
Left a little bag of collectable rugby coins featuring heads of New Zealand Rugby players and captains

This was my third “mountain” cache today and my legs staged a mutiny when faced with the view up the track. Ultimately the mutiny was put down and I made it to the general area of the cache.
I had to resort to the clue as the indicated position was in private property. The clue put me straight on to it (about 25 metres NE of my GPS’s position.
In…….A glue pen
Out …..nil
Thanks Rossco & G

A real grunt up to this one and it was hot too.
The coords seemed to be out a bit so we need to use the clue. Ruth found the well camouflaged cache.
Nil exchange, thanks

Great view. We left nothing and took the travelling duck. Will help it find a new home soon.
Found it this afternoon. Was our second trip. Really stoked as it was our first cache ever.
Took the nutmeg and left a floppy disk drive.

After almost giving up we tried again and found the cache - great spot and nice camouflage. Found it at about 3:30pm on 26/1/2003.
Took dalmation dog and left a rock 'n ropes card and a two dollar coin.

Couldn't find this one, looked for a while and decided to give it up as there were alot of people walking the track.
Wondered why we were puffing when we hit the top then I turned around to be hit with that fabulous view. Took nothing but left a travelling duck from the Patea Track - Taranaki cache.
Cheers for the view Ross

It took some time to find the box, good camouflage! The view over Kapiti Island was fantastic in the late afternoon sun. Took nothing, left a container of MasterFood ground nutmeg.

First ones there !!
Rose's first find.
Not too many sats to get a good position from - but enough for the general area.
Well hidden Ross. We've never been up that track before - great view !
Found the cache after about 15 minutes - (good teamwork).
Took the eye light things & left spotty dog from Queen Elizabeth park.
John, Rose & the boys.
