I had this cache on wish list while in Warwick for filling a spot in my Placed Calendar. An oldie that I need/want. Well as we arrived here I realised bunadoorian and I had been here back in Sept last year. We had thought it was going to take to long and we weren't fit enough to walk up then as we were on our way towards Longreach then. Back to today - bunadoorian, Smiley1982 and myself - were all feeling unfit so we took our time and slowly made our way to the top. Once up there we were all searching and in the end Smiley1982 found it first. I loved the views from up here. TFTC and for bringing us here and keeping this old cache in play - DarrowbyTribe For future finders you do not need a lid opener anymore - but I did go prepared. Another favourite point from me.

TFTC! Out and about on a geocaching adventure with Bunadoorian & Grub62. Bit of a hike to the top, then following a bit of a trail, looking at previous logs photos had me in the right area, in which I eventually came up with the find.

For an old fellow I think I did well getting up to the cache. Really nice views from the lookout. Thanks for bringing us here and TFTC.

Great views, nice walk and a methodical hunt to find the cache. Took longer than I expected but using some photos from previous logs was able to find it. Amazing that we have lived around this area for some years and never been to this hill. Thanks for the cache.

Man that was a bushwhack! But if 3 people can't find it, I don't know. Anyway, tftc

Found it. Thanks for the cache

Five of us looked maybe a muggle found it and took it or because it is very well hidden in the overgrown brush

Ive been meaning to come and find this one for a while now but never quite had the chance until today. We had an enjoyable walk along the track as we ascended, stopping to take in the views in spots along the way. We saw a coal train pass by down below as well as tractors baling hay and learned about the earth station when we noticed all the dishes in the near distance. Once we reached the summit and took some photos, we returned a short distance before leaving the path and making our way over to GZ. With so many possibilities, we reviewed the images and managed to match up some trees to help narrow our search. The cache was quickly to hand after that and we were pleased to have ticked off another wonderful oldie. Thanks DarrowbyTribe

A trip to Perth checking out some of the awesome places along the way in ACT, NSW, Qld and NT. Grabbing some old caches and missing LGAs. TFTC.
That site took a while to find. Eventually stepped over the high stick and found the rock.

A North Queensland road trip of 2.5 weeks had Team Warren consisting of jesswrigley, 15-month baby and I, spend a Cairns Christmas with family, followed by a coastal drive back to Brisbane, marking a total distance of 5728 km.
Departing on 21/12/2022, Dad and I took the expedited drive north via Toowoomba, Roma, Emerald, and Chartered Towers. During our Cairns stay, we visited Green Island, inner Cairns and the lagoon, Port Douglas, and Atherton Tablelands. We then commenced our drive back from 28/12/2022, making stops in Mission Beach, Townsville, Ayr, Airlie Beach, Cape Hillsborough, Mackay, Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Gladstone, Seventeen Seventy, Bargara, Bundaberg, Childers, Harvey Bay, Maryborough, Gympie, and Eumundi, returning home on 7/01/2023. Highlights included hiking Walsh Pyramid, visiting Townsville's Museum of Tropical Queensland, seeing the marvels of Capricorn Caves, kayaking Ross Creek, and swimming and frolicking in the many beaches and water playgrounds.

Today, it was an early departure from Brisbane and our first stop was Toowoomba for a morning tea coffee break. We then continued our drive making a strategic stop at Kingsthorpe for an oldie cache, before stopping in Dalby for lunch. An afternoon stop was made in Chinchilla, which included a viewing of Chinchilla Weir. Making a few further stops in Miles, Jackson, and Wallumbilla had us arrive in Roma in time for the Big Rig night show, and then closed out the day checking out the mining town.
Adventure Labs completed today:
• Toowoomba Factories of the Past;
• Chinchilla ~ Watermelon Sugar; and
• Visiting Roma.

I had been out this side of Toowoomba a couple of times in the last couple of years, but I don't think the oldies were on my radar at the time. I see that many Geocachers had used the opportunity of those events to visit this one, and so my time was today. I wasn't sure what to expect with this lookout, thinking it would be some overgrown hill that I would need to scramble and push through weeds. Our initial approach had me drive the closest road (Darel Street) to find a dead-end road surrounded by houses. I remembered seeing signs to the lookout, so we took Emmanulla Drive to discover the correct access. Oh, so despite my maps not indicating any tracks/trails, there appeared to be a formal summit trail here.

I left my muggle father in the car as I proceeded to jog/run up the track, knowing time was getting crunched prior to the proposed Dalby lunch event. I managed to get up the top in about 10 minutes to discover great views of the area, and then followed the directions in the hint to follow the informal trail. I then spent another 10 minutes searching all around, whilst having worries that I may indeed need to leave this location without the find given the timing. It was the consulting of many of the past photos, that eventually yielded the well-hidden prize! The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks DarrowbyTribe for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. It was nice to have found this oldie 01/2003 hidden cache, of which is one of Queensland's 100 oldest yet active geocaches.

We couldn’t find it Sad spent over an hour looking, went off the path a few times. Nowhere to be seen. Least the view is pretty

Wow! What a view! We took our littles the JnrCacheThieves for the hike. The second path is VERY overgrown. Thankfully Mr CacheThief has persistence and an adventurous side that finally got us through the GZ.
A great way to have an adventure with our kids on a beautiful autumn day.
P.S Take bug spray for the mozzies.

This was one of two target caches for me today…

Whenever I’ve been close to this cache in the past, I’ve never had time to stop… today was different…

Even though I wasn’t sure how to reach the carpark, those little brown “lookout” signs made that the least of my concerns…

Of course I’ve picked a 34+ degree day to climb the hill… but it wasn’t that bad… though there was quite a lot of grass to work my way through…

Found the cache and then checked out the views…

Glad to have knocked this one off today…

A plan was formed recently to camp at Oakey over the October long weekend (due to Ekka being postponed) and tackle the art and a number of fun puzzles in the vicinity. The call went out to a few others we enjoy travelling with and the solving began! Lots of back and forth between members and we finally had a full set a few days out from the trip.

The roads were wet and muddy but that isn't going to stop a group of dedicated geocachers on a mission! The rain held off which we were grateful for however chunks of mud were often shaken off shoes before returning to cars and moving on to the next one.

As is always the case when caching with others there were many laughs and a great time had by all. Always a great sense of achievement when you've been working through a project over a number of weeks.

Thankyou for placing and arranging this series for our enjoyment. The fields and flowers were in bloom. Birds a plenty enjoying the roadside water sources. The scenery was refreshing. Always enjoy a taste of the countryside. Logs signed as Team Grav (as in Gravel assault!)

31-Oct-21
Day three of our Oakey trip and a later start than usual.

We set off just after 9am and hit the trail, ughh.. Road? I don't know what to call it, but we travelled on it. Our main target for the day was the Gravel series than we slowly made our way north than south while collecting a bunch of caches along the way.

I have never ventured out this way before so it was a real eye opener, the towns, the farms, the flowers, the animals, you name it we saw it, well, maybe not everything because I was disappointed I didn't see an elephant, but you get the picture.

We certainly picked the right time of year as the Jacarandas were in full bloom and you wouldn't go through a town without seeing a bunch of them, absolutely stunning, it truely is an amazing tree and you can literally spot them from a mile away.

The team had an absolute blast and we thoroughly enjoyed travelling the open road breathing in the fresh country air, what more could you ask for? Well, a coffee shop perhaps since I went the WHOLE. ENTIRE. DAY without coffee and that is deadly, If i miss my daily caffeine goodness I become a terrible person and do bad things, other than that it was a very memorable day.

The walk wasn't as bad as I was expecting, but it was still a welcome relief when we arrived at the top. We skipped straight past GZ and checked out the stunning view. Wow was the first word I said when I was greeted with the stunning scenery, you could see all the Jacarandas in full bloom below and you could see from miles.

After admiring the view we made our way over towards GZ and had the cache in hand soon after. Another Q100 done and dusted. Thanks for giving us a reason to stop by.

A group of us came together to reassemble the SSE, find all of Gravel's Travels and everything in between. This is a beautiful area. Some caches took my Corolla to places it shouldn't have been, especially after the rain. But we had fun, found a variety of hides and saw a variety of landscapes (and muddy roads).

A big thanks to all the CO's who gave us a reason to camp in a little town for the weekend. Those who don't make this a weekend holiday destination are missing out.

I have been here before but couldn't find the container. Now with a few others to help me look, it turned out it was Mr8 who spotted it within seconds and it is no longer a milo tin.

29-Oct-21
Heading to Oakey for the weekend, we took a detour on our drive from Brisbane and parked the car lower down. It was then a lovely walk in the late afternoon to the top. Below us, the ground was dotted with purple Jacaranda trees, all in full bloom. We sat on the seat in the tranquil late afternoon and then began our search for the hide.
Thanks Darrowby Tribe

Find #1900 !!
Nice view, old cache, maintain by others.
Shame I got this milestone by myself, would have loved to share with others.
You can still drive up to the water tanks then walk, which makes this cache easy to access.
I have taken a minion toy and left a Kinder surprise toy, and 2 Woolies Lego toys.

On my way home from Bunya Mtns, thought I'd do a slight detour to venture up the hill to look for this old one I need for a Challenge I'm working towards. It was a very pleasant walk and I followed the hint directly to the prize. Lovely views on offer, now for my trek back down and continue on my way home.

Meandering back home with Muggle65 after an epic few days caching. Decided to drop in and grab this oldie. Cache is in good order. Thank you so much Smile

& I are heading home after a close encounter with a flash mob of “Geocachers” at first it was a bit scary and then intimidating but finally after having photographic evidence taken & I sprinted away to do as many finds as possible in a weekend.
So now exhausted & meandering back to BrisVegas we stopped here & there to pick up a few treasures.

Adding another one of the oldest 100 to my finds.
Even if this was up it was far easier than the oldie I did last weekend.
Hot in the sun here, good views

Great spot, great little hike up the hill (only 460m from car park), great views from the top and a great little cache and hide!

Awesome find. Bought brother here for there first cache

Nice walk up the hill we’ve been meaning to go up for so long. Enjoyed the view from the top before coming back and heading off towards GZ. We looked in all the wrong places for ages, going in circles, but came up with nothing. We checked some old photos and was able to narrow down the search area and came in from a different angle and finally spotted the sneaky thing! We must have walked past it about 5 times during our search! Happy to finally have this oldie signed off. Tftc DarrowbyTribe

Mr CNQ travelled from Charters Towers yesterday and Miles this morning and eventually found this cache. Cut off the main track and went pretty close to it, but got distracted by the older track and cleared area down the hill, so was the GPSr as well. Just about to call it and move on- had a busy day planned and found on one last look up hill a bit. Nice view on a sunny morning thanks DarrowbyTribe.

28-Dec-20
A nice heart thumping climb to the lookout but the view is certainly worth the effort. Backtracked a bit the plunged off the track to the cache GZ. Mrs George obliged by retrieving the container and replaced it when the log was filled in. TFTC, DarrowbyTribe.. Wasn't James Herriot a vet in Darrowby? Probably no connection.

A late night call to OBC and a plan was set to do some target caching on an assortment of caches in Toowoomba. An early morning start on a fresh, wet morning saw us leaving and heading west then a backseat surprise from mini obc was my wake up, lol. The targets were some oldies, some letterboxes, some for DT matrix, a FTF, a couple of puzzles and the odd trad as we stepped over it. It is always a fun day and an adventure when we get together and today was no different. We did have a little hiccup when we thought we were going to be stranded in Toowoomba and our caching day brought to a sudden stop. But a quick call to RACQ and a quick fix and we were soon on our way again. The list got shortened but then it got added to in other ways. A passing storm and wind gusts did see us having to abandon a few targets but we did make up for it on the way home. An awesome day with lots of laughs and some brave adventures.

This cache was one I had on my list for the reason as an oldie. I nice little walk from where we parked and it was found reasonably easily. A fantastic view from up here, an outstanding view of the forth coming storm saw us racing down before it hit.

All good with this cache, nice and dry and another old cache ticked off, thank you for placing it here.

26-Jul-20
Chamad and I decided to head to Toowoomba from Brisbane, and pick up an assortment of caches along the way. Some caches were for the date published challenge, some for the 360 degree challenge, some for the DT matrix, some because they were oldies, and some because they are already fulfilled challenges. And some because, well, you never walk over a cache.

Somewhere in the middle of Toowoomba, my car broke down, and our plans were thrown into chaos. RACQ to the rescue, and we were back to caching, albeit an hour behind schedule. Our luck continued into the afternoon as a storm rolled over, the temperature dropped, drizzle gave way to heavy rain and wind, and our commitment to the greater cause was traded in for some warm food and the safety of the car.

Still, a fantastic day with great company, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Well, now for this cache! I was sooo excited to find another of Queensland's oldest 100 geocaches. And I can see why - this is an amazing view. Great effort to view ratio with this one!

WOOHOO!!!! Finally, third time lucky for finding this cache. On previous visits I had spent much time looking here and there, leaving with a sad face on both occasions.

Today however 1MinnieMoo had the sneaky beasty in hand quickly.
So glad to turn my frown upside down!

28/6/20 Find #3814

NyssaFlutterby, wombles and co, and I were in Toowoomba for the weekend.
One of the goals for day two was Kings Outlook, which NyssaFlutterby had been to twice before.
We arrived at the parking and wombles questioned how far we had to go. Yep 512m up there. It was a windy 512m, curving around and back on itself but the up at least wasn’t too steep after yesterday’s efforts. Soon we hit the top and the search began. Hmm where on earth to start?!
The coords bounced around a little and once I got excited thinking I had found the cache, but no. Then all of a sudden I knew I had, much to NyssaFlutterby’s disbelief. Turns out I just had to look down on it from the right angle.
We were pleased to be able to claim this one, and spent a minute or two enjoying the outlook before beginning our descent again.
Thanks for the cache DarrowbyTribe.

28-Jun-20
Day 2 of our weekend away, more ups and downs planned with 1Minniemoo and Nyssaflutterby.
This was one of our planned caches today, NF had been here before and not located the cache so we were determined to find it this time.
The three of us climbed around looking and 1MM finally spotted it from above!
After signing the log we enjoyed the view from the top for a bit, debated the rolling to the bottom option then decided the track was the best way down!

What a nice walk. Out on a Saturday stroll.

DNF- iPhone GPS had us bouncing back and forth. A path was faint and overgrown so we got a lot of scratches and insect bites. A bit too challenging for the kids’ first time out. Note to self: Add aerogard to GC kit

Oh my deary! That was a climb and a half for me. Well worth it for the views! There was rain over the next hills and I was halfway up when I could smell it. I was getting worried tht I would be cought but there was no way i was wasting half a hill climb by backing down now. I made it to the top and the GPSr was doing really weird dancing stuff. I am sure I looked hilarious as I tried to work out what I was doing. I made this harder than I needed to, I should have followed the instructions for the approach from the description but I couldnt find the spot to enter, until after I was in another way. Cache found in good condition, no maintenance needed. took some photos, added a geocoin and left one of my pathtags for the next climber. Enjoy

Easy find for the three of us with a young girl who was a little scared.

29-Jun-19
Out with team Nelta. Take the time to veer off the highway for a lovely little walk and an unexpected view from an awesome little mountain-top lookout. The cache wasn't easy to find though. Glad the GPS was working here, as it led us quite several metres from the lookout, into rocky outcrops. Nice large cache though (Milo tin sized, but not a Milo tin) so swaps time! TFTC.

21-Jun-19
Could not resist going to grab an oldie, even though some of my companions had already found it. I had some difficulty finding the cache at the GZ, and the previous finders were no help. So much so that I had suspicions they had not found the cache! But there names were in the log when I looked... TFTC!

The long awaited Toowoomba geocaching weekend is finally in progress - Gcoven, Team ARF, Ardom and myself have booked out a house, gone on a mad puzzle solving frenzy and made some crazy plans. Time to collect those smiles.

Chilly morning in Kingsthorpe, so we decided to warm ourselves up by climbing up the mountain before going to the Cobb & Co museum today. Parked at the designated spot and followed the narrow trail winding up the hill.
Nice views of colourful fields and farms beyond. It was a bit of a rocky scramble to gz but soon found the hide and container well secured. Took Frozen card, left fake coin.
We had come to this area this weekend by accident as we had booked in Boonah but it got cancelled at the last minute so we headed here instead, having stayed at the local hotel before and knew it was a good spot.

Happy Easter. My second search for a cache. Didn't know what I was looking for and nearly gave up. If everyone in Kingsthorpe walked up the hill each day, it would be a fit community. Lovely park in town for a cuppa afterwards.

14-Apr-19
A good workout up the bitumen and then onto the track. Great views from the top! Followed a track nearest the GZ and started my search. A paf and no answer so continued to look. I was determined to get this after a long drive. A read of previous logs and expanded my area too reflect this and started circling around. I spotted it from above. Very well hidden here! Happy to find an oldie. Worth the day trip out. Tftc

Today was all about pickie up oldies on the Downs. Have family roots in this general area so was keen to see how the area's progressed since I was last around.

Cool and windy conditions greeted us on the walk to the lookout. A bit hazy but good aspect overall. After heading 15m down the slope came across a conspicuous hide and the cache was found. Thanks for maintaining this oldie for others to find DarrowbyTribe.

After the climb up TableTop this was a gentle stroll up to stretch the legs. Awesome view but somewhat hazy. Cache found in good condition. Thanks for maintaining an oldie!

This is the very last cache on our very last day of our QOGM road trip to the Barcaldine region.
It has been a great trip and a very busy 12 days with a total of about 450 caches visited, of which 413 were first visits for me.

We stayed overnight in Toowoomba and picked up a few caches before turning our heads to home.

We huffed n puffed up the hill so our first stop here was for the trad at the end of the bitumen so that we could catch our breath before tackling the zig zag up to the top of the hill.

It was slow but steady progress after that and we resisted the impulse to try and access the cache from below.
Patience little grasshoppers and you will be rewarded!

We were doubly rewarded at the top. Firstly by an easier route to the cache where nobody broke a hip getting to it. Next reward was the panoramic view out across the Darling Downs. It was a showery day but we could still see that it had been pretty dry around here so I hope there is a lot more rain for the folks that really need it. What I remember from living in this region was that the rain could drop in buckets at the edge of the range over Toowoomba but you didn't need to be too far out of town to be in drought.

The cache was dry and in good nick on our visit and we were pleased to be able to add another oldie to our finds.

Thank you to the Darrowby tribe for bringing us here.

After attending the successful QOGM 2018 in Barcaldine, we are heading home via Emerald and Roma.

On our way home from QOGM18 in Barcaldine we had to make sure we grabbed as many old caches as we could and this one was on the list. Showery weather didn't help and made the climb slippery. Sure had me puffing and groaning on the way up but what beautiful views from the top. Glad we were able to sign the log and have another old cache smiling at us. TFTC

My wife and I came for a getaway from our kids to chase some geo-art and spend a couple of nights in Toowoomba living the good life and drinking lots of wine. This morning we stuffed our bellies with breakfast and came out to mop up some caches we left behind yesterday.

As part of the agreement I have with my wife, if she comes caching with me then I have to go shopping with her. Seeing there was still an hour until the shops opened we decided to scrawl up the hill to have a look for this cache. Yesterday we hadn't had to put in any effort so needed to stretch our legs.

The worst part of this climb was the sealed driveway. Once you get over that hurdle the rest of the trail was nice and easy. At times we had to wonder whether we had lost the trail because the grass was so long you couldn't see the ground. Of course that also meant that you couldn't see the rocks at various intervals and a few trips were added to the walk.

Finally we reached the top and weren't even sure there was a trail here but we made our way to GZ avoiding the vine that was out to get us and found the hide. tftc

Out on a roadtrip today with RhoBoCacher and my muggle fiance and his son; we decided to target a few fine old caches while in the area. The view here was beautiful, and I found the outcroppings of volcanic rock particularly interesting on the journey to the lookout. All was found in good order and our names added to the log. Heading up to Crow's Nest for a few days for an event. Taking a bit of a scenic route and hunting for a few smileys along the way. Big Grin

The Nuvi tried to take me on a really scenic route to this one, but I ignored it and went wiht the shorter, proper and more sensible option. Wink

It was a bit early, but I had an early start, so I dragged the thermos, and a snack to this one. It was well worth the visit. This was also a typical geowalk. The GPSr said 137m at the bottom, the sign told me it would actually be 512m. Smile

I sat at the bench at the top and enjoyed my cuppa and muffin. The views were great today. Cool It was extremely peaceful up here today, but I had places to go and other caches to find.

A nice quick find at GZ. All is well with this one.

**# 17504** Found on the Qld leg of our 2017 winter escape trip. Wink
Another perfect warm winter day for a drive to Kingsthorpe to climb a hill.
Not many muggles up top and a good safe hide here. Wink
Fav point added for the historical cache and awesome views.
You can still drive up the tar to the carpark area, to save a bit of the climb.
Thanks for the cache DarrowbyTribe and all those who keep it going,
