As you can see the mermaid is a bit snowed on. We got about 6 inches of the wet heavy stuff today. This is in Shoreview, MN at The Mermaid. It was a bar and bowling alley but now it has ballrooms, motel, event rooms, etc. My mother and I used to bowl here alot.
Wow! I couldn't believe it when I saw this mermaid on a water tank in Phillipsburg, PA. What a find! Thanks!!
Found this bathing beauty in downtown Salado, TX, USA. She is bathing at the springs of Salado Creek. She is in the middle of an antique shoppers' delight.
Found this little Mermaid in the School-Garden in Braunschweig, Germany.

Here in the desert, where are we going to find a mermaid? We searched everwhere for one. Then as luck would have it, we found this Mexican seafood restaurant, and the mermaid.
There is a recreational park in the borough of Marzahn, Berlin, Germany, - the so called "Erholungspark Marzahn" which was opened for a garden show in 1987 (celebrating 750 years Berlin). The park is still developing by adding little thematic gardens, e.g. it already has a Chinese garden, a Balinese and a Japanese garden; in spring it will add a new Korean garden.
There are a number of sculptures within the park and I've read about a mermaid sculpture "Die kleine Meerjungfrau" done by the sculptor Gorch Wenzke, which was set up in May 2005.
The sculpture on the photo was the only one I could find today that might have a "touch" of a mermaid.
But as some of the sculptures are "hibernating" I will go and check in April if it really was the right one.
Best regards,
Wolfgang

The Mermaids of the Moshula Resturant and old schooner are located on Columbus Blvd in Philadelphia Pennsylvania at Penns Landing. These wooden structures were rescued from salvage after the schooner caught on fire and almost sank in the river in the 1990' The schooner as a french fishing ship that was turned into a resturant in the 1960's. The mermaid were in the cargo area for many years. They were taken and restored. They are now displayed at the entrance of the ship. Never expected to see mermaid in December.
Found this Mermaid in Dublin, Ireland. There are 4 of these Mermaid at this apartment complex.
I'm not sure if this example meets the spirit of the cache, but with LCs going away soon I decided to post, since I've been looking for a maiden for over a year, and this is the best one I've yet to find.
This is out in front of the Stow Away Storage Center in Cedar Brook (Camden Co), New Jersey, USA. It's been there for as long as I can remember, which probably means 15+ years. She manages to catch my eye everytime I pass by -- quite the beauty!

This Mermaid fountain is placed in front of the Bensow building in Helsinki, in Finland.
'The Mermaid' is the first of Viktor Jansson's (1886 - 1958) fountains made to the same theme. The other, titled 'Water Nymphs', is located in the Esplanadi park, close to the Market Square. The fountains were made in consecutive years - 'The Mermaid' in 1941 and 'Water Nymphs' in 1942.
The model for both sculptures - as for Jansson's other works - was his daughter Tove Jansson, the author of the 'Moomin' books.
The sculpture is cast in bronze and it is 1.1 metres high.

This mermaid is part of the fountain "Stuhlmannbrunnen" in Hamburg-Altona, Germany. Triton and mermaid Nereide are blowing water on two centaurs that are fighting with a giant fish. More information can be found at Wikipedia (in german): Visit link
I found this mermaid by chance in the town of Little York, NY, USA. It is sculptured from metal rods & pieces of metal about 1/4" thick. The price tag on the mermaid was $450. It is about lifesize. They have many other things here including what looks like a haunted house with a witch & halloween items. Many animals are represented here & they are nice especially if you are into this sort of art. The display covers a bit of territory going into a field & up a hill.
I am enclosing a photo of the place. It doesn't feature a mermaid but it gives the name of the place if anyone is interested to examine these works.

Spotted this guy while on holiday in Rome. He is part of a fountain in a square on Via Barberini.
I was on vacation in Florida and doing some caching when I noticted this merman.
The two tailed mermaid is located in Copenhagen, Denmark, Europe. She has been placed here 2005 in celebration of Hans Christian Andersen's 200 years birthday. I did not have any swimsuit with me , so I calculated the coordinates of the mermaid from 2 different waypoints - from both sides of the lake.
I found lots of Nix (mer-men) but not so many Nixen (mer-maids), but finally, I was lucky and found a fountain with feminine ones, children (mer-kids) and even horses (mer-horses), if that might translate at all. The GPS data is the one of the real mermaids (found in Vienna, Austria), the others I would like to include as bonus-pictures just for the fun of it.

This pretty lady is on the sign on top of a local fish and chips place. She is probably PG-13, as she doesn't have much top coverage! I took these pictures with my camera-phone. I am going to try to get a better picture of her, and will post accordingly. Thanks for the cache.
Have been waiting for this trip to get the coords for this lovely lady. She welcomes all visitors to the island known as CocoCay in the Bahamas. This is a private island owned by Royal Caribbean/Celebrity Cruise Lines and guest are taken there for a nice quiet day to relax on the beach. The posted coordinates are as close to her as we were allowed to get (we could not cross the rocks).

Remember the movie "Splash" featuring Tom Hanks with Darryl Hannah as the mermaid? This Mermaid Fountain was Madison's gift to Allen. Although it appears to be made of brass and stone, it was fabricated entirely out of fiberglass at the Walt Disney Studios Scenic Shop.
The molds used to produce the mermaid and dolphins were originally created for ice sculptures seen in the Walt Disney Productions film, Herbie Goes
Bananas.
Thanks for the fun locationless cache to give us a little geocaching bonus on our trip to Disney World!
The Mermaid Theatre in Puddledock, London. It's future is uncertain. Ken Livingstone, the current Mayor of London, is fighting its closure. Sad if it does.

Found this beautiful carved wooden door featuring a life sized mermaid at the Vera Cruz Fish House in San Marcos, California. It was in the ladies' room and I had to take two pictures because I couldn't get back far enough to get it all in one shot. It was carved by Garner Brandt, who also carved the main entry door of the restaurant. For those who care, there is an unlogged mermaid on the other side of this door.
I have been looking for a qualified and unlogged mermaid for over a year. I had no idea it would be so difficult to find. Time to celebrate now. Thanks for the fun.

We are on our way home to Southern Arizona after having spent the last 4 months working at Bonneville Dam on the Columbia River in Oregon. Just happened to be bike caching in Oxnard CA when I spotted this mural among 20 others enhancing the shoreline of the Ocean. My GPS is on the bike seat. This mural is near Tombstone (GCGYWG). Oddly enough Tombstone, AZ is 16 miles from our final destination in AZ.
We claimed this cache long ago, but we just had to post this picture of the mermaid wind vane on the top of Old West at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Old West was built to replace a bulding that burned down in 1803. It was then the original main college building, and it was designed by Benjamin Latrobe. Latrobe decided to crown the classical proportions of Old West with a bell cupola adorned with a weathervane that would bear the likeness of Triton, a merman in Greek mythology with a human head and the tail of a fish. Latrobe's intended form for the weathervane, however, was altered by the local metalworker who was hired to create it. The metalworker was apparently unfamiliar with Triton, but acquainted enough with mermaids. He forged, therefore, a most distinctive feminine figure.
This current mermaid is a replica of the origianl installed when the building was built in 1803-1805, so that original is now 2 centuries old. The Mermaid measures 34 inches in height with an arm span of 36 inches. She is distinguished by the Janus-like feature of two faces, allowing her ostensibly to scan the horizon before and behind. On each of her dominant surfaces, she possesses a set of breasts. There is some speculation that the craftsperson may have been African American as the Mermaid's appearance approximates Yemaja, a sea goddess of African tradition. The identity of the metalworker remains unknown.

This was a mermaid we found in Friday Harbor, Washington. This is a quaint town with a heavy nautical theme.
Found this one along with Sassykat in Madison, Indiana during the 2005 FAll Picnic.
The fountain, originally cast iron, was presented, in 1876, to the Philadelphia Centennial Exposition by the Republic of France. It was then purchased by the Indiana Order of Odd Fellows and presented to Madison. It was returned to its original condition--but recast in bronze-- during the latter 1970's and re-dedicated in the summer of 1980.
thanx,

This mermaid is located in Junction City Oregon. It is in a courtyard of a community center of some sort right acrossed the street from Scandinavian Park. I spotted it a few weeks ago during the Scandinavian Festival that is held here each August. It was near dark when I arrived today and the picture quality isn't what I try to get for my logs. Apologies. This mermaid is different than others that I have seen. She has legs that seperate into two distinct tails. Interesting. Thanks for the cache.
While participating in the 'City Circle Tram Event' in Melbourne with DAK, he pointed out that there was a locationless cache for Mermaids. This mermaid, along with a couple of Mermen, support the upper layers of a fountain in the gardens of the Royal Exhibition Building.
This gorgeous girl looks a little cold, and given she lives a long way inland and in the hills it's appropriate that she is wearing scarf and beanie. This Mermaid is an iconic part of the Trentham streetscape as she sits on the corner showing the way to the local fish and chip shop. She's been there as long as I can remember and often changes her outfits. I'm actually suprised no one to my knowledge has whisked her away. Not even roadworks hinder her.
I note that cowie logged the Warsaw Mermaid on 17 January, but that the photo was exceedingly poor. So, for those of you who want a better look at her, here are some pictures that I took at the World Park in Beijing, China. She looks like someone you wouldn't want to mess with!
This is a full-size replica of the Warsaw Mermaid. The park has many replicas of famous structures and sculptures from around the world. It's well worth a visit, if you are in Beijing. There is also a full-size replica of Copenhagen's Little Mermaid (I'll leave her for someone else to log). I was surprised to find that she has feet, and no tail! Assuming the reproduction is accurate, is she really a mermaid?
