Well after over a year of this cache sitting dormant, I figured it would be worth logging before they disappear. This is NYSE trading post #16 located in Steinberg Hall - Dietrich Hall in one of the Wharton buildings in the campus of UPenn. If there are only 8 of these, I wonder where the other 2 are?!?

I totally lucked upon this one on a Sunday afternoon stroll around campus.

This is Trading Post 11 of the NYSE. It is currently located in the 'Exchange Room' just off the Espresso Cafe Roma at the Anderson School of Business at UCLA.

The nearby sign explains...

"Post 11 is one of 17 horseshoe post installed between 1929 and 1932. Each post has an outside perimeter of 26 1/2 feet, occupies almost 100 square feet of space, and stands 7 feet high. The posts are solidly crafted with brass frames, oak counters, and leather-covered seats and counter-tops. The smooth lines of the brass, with slightly flairing footrails, hint at Art Deco fashion, while the pigeon-holed interior oak cabinets harken back to the turn-of-the-century Arts and Crafts style."

Famous stocks assigned to this post included Coca Cola and IBM.

Cool!

Many thanks to Mountain Wanderer for an azimuth. I had to check my pace count a couple of times, but some help from a really cool professor set me straight and on target.

Only one indoor picture came out, but it should suffice.

My picture of the text did not come out and I can't find where I wrote it down, but I may try a back-up plan. Wink

Thanks for the find and the challenge, Johann Panholtz

I'm FIRST for a locationless cache!! I have had my eye on this one for a long time. Internet search never turned anything up as these units predate the technological revolution. I finally did the old fashioned detective work last month and got here today. The coords are for the main entrance of the museum. My research discovered the following:
The units were originally placed in service in the early 1930's and were removed 50 years later in the early 1980's when a remodeling was done at the Exchange. The old units were refurbished to their original condition (removal of monitors and other electronic items) and sent out and installed in their display locations in the same time period. I have a list of 12 places where they were sent. 1 place may not have displayed it, and 1 other place has it currently in storage until Sep 2005 due to a renovation.
This was an interesting and fun cache to do. The museum was also a great place to spend a few hours today as it has many other fascinating exhibits, especially the new one on 9-11. Thanks for the cache.

(PS to L&C-- I found your Scout Camp 3 cache in Nebraska last summer- I still remember the bushwacking that your scouts made me go through!!)
