This pedestrian suspension bridge called 'Sabrina Bridge' spans the river Severn. The Mayor of Worcester, Councillor Ray Turner, opened it on 22nd February 1992. The name of the bridge is linked to a 12th century legend of a young girl named Sabrina (or Sabern) who drowned in the river. It is said that this is where the river Severn derrived it's name.
I feel proud to log this find as this bridge is in my home town quite close to Worcester racecourse. it's always a pleasure to return home for a visit!

OK this went a little over the 1000 mark but never mind.
Thanks to everyone who logged a bridge on here. There were some great pics.
If you want to log a bridge now it has to be as a waymark via the waymark site run by Groundspeak.

A nice place to start a river float is located here - Park Features: * River Swimming Area * Portable Restrooms * Picnic Tables. The primary feature of this small park is a suspension bridge across the South Fork of the Stillaguamish River. A path leads to the river shore where visitors can swim and relax during the summer. Park History: The Jordan Bridge was first constructed in the early 1900's. The swinging bridge was historically utilized as the northerly access to the Jordan Bridge community. The bridge was constructed to provide access for children to attend school at Jordan, and to provide a shorter route to the city of Arlington on the south side of the river. The bridge was condemned in November of 1972 due to its dilapidated condition. It was rebuilt in the "swinging bridge" style in the 70's and closed again in 90's for repair. It was rebuilt as a semi-solid structure by Snohomish County parks.

Here's an unusual one. The bridge is not only suspended, but also cantilevered on a pivoting base. This feature allows it to swing out of way when large ships need to enter this part of this (working) harbour. The bridge is located next to the Pierhead in the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, Cape Town, South Africa.
Happened to be out caching today and noticed this old pedestrian suspension bridge under construction. Lucky find on a rainy day. Didn't have as much luck caching though on the cache I was heading to! It is located on River Road in Starbrick, PA.
We found this one in the Leisurepark Serengeti-Park near Hodenhagen, Lower Saxony, Germany. It leads to a Visitors platform.

Found this bridge in City Park in Dallas, Oregon. Much like the log just prior to this one, the locals (and the map of the park) refer to this bridge as the swinging bridge. And boy, does it swing when you walk across it. As you can see by the photo, it was *pouring* rain today.
I was standing on a larger bridge while taking that photo of the suspension bridge for pedestrains. Found in the 22nd district of Vienna, Austria.

This 'bridge' is in Milford, UK, halfway between Duffield and Belper.
[Edit] - Changed to a 'Note' rather than a 'Found' after a disallow (quite rightly though... I was pushing the rules a bit)

Found this suspension footbridge at the Duck Reach power station in Launceston Tasmania Australia.
The powerstation has been decomissioned but the supsension bridge was built in 1896 to provide easier access across the river to the power station.
The bridge at time of construction was 56 metres long and 1 metre wide.
Floods in 1929 destroyed the bridge but it was rebuilt in 1939.
1969 floods again destroyed the bridge but recontruction of the bridge didn't occur until 1995.

Found this nifty and sturdy bridge while caching in Michigan's Upper Peninsula (USA). Candy is on the bridge, the GPS in hand is hard to see. Thanks!
I was in the process of logging a multicache that required a walk across this suspension bridge. The cache required me to count the number of vertical chains on one side of the bridge. I tried walking across and counting at the same time; not a good idea. Although only a short bridge, it is capable of setting up a fairly strong oscillation!
It's located at the Lake Pertobe Reserve in Warrnambool, Victoria, Australia. The reserve has lakes, paddle boats, playgrounds, walking tracks, a maze, picnic facilities, and BBQs. A great place to visit with kids. TFTC.

This is 1 of 2 that are in the old gold mining town of Mount Morgan. In the front of this one I found some history about the first Australian soldier to die on foreign soil in a war. Also found some history about the bridges and how they were used in the town

While out pursuing another cache we came accross this suspension bridge for pedestrians.
This suspension bridge is located in the town of Loch, a town in the South Gippsland region of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
This district is famous for its dairy industry, and my wife lived nearby as a child before moving to outer Melbourne.
The bridge does sway as people walk over creating a uneasy feeling.
Thanks Postie for the opportunity to log this Locationless cache.

This pedestrian suspension bridge crosses the Mitchell Freeway north of Perth, Western Australia.
This suspension bridge crosses the Yarra River in the town of Warburton in Victoria, Australia. The Yarra River eventually makes its way to Port Phillip Bay near Melbourne. Warburton is approx. 70 kilometres (as the crow flies) from Melbourne, is nestled in a beautiful valley and is a popular day and weekend destination.
Whilst out looking for To Boldly Go I found this one. Remember as a child going to Mt. Bold reservoir for picnics. At the moment it is full and overflowing.
This one is called "Carolinenbrücke" and it's located in Karlsfeld which is just north of Munich. Although it looks very massive, you can feel it swinging if you walk across the bridge.
Found this south of Wee Jasper in NSW. I have been working in the area and had walked over it previouslay. Unfortunately on this day the owner had locked the gate. The bridge provides pedestrian access to the house on the other side of the river and it is located in a reserve aptly named the Swinging Bridge Reserve.
This 'Swing Bridge' is a reconstruction of an earlier bridge, across the Avon river in York, Western Australia. For more info, see the photos.
Kathryn and I used this bridge to get to a nearby cache. The bridge is only 30 mtrs long, but is used to get to an island in the middle of the Murray River in Western Australia. The island is a nature reserve for bird breeding. Sorry about the poor photography.
This is the Hokitika Gorge swing bridge in New Zealand.
I don't know it's full history, though I do know that it lies at the start of a 3 day mountain trail that is now largely disused.
It's quite a scenic site. I have a physical cache hidden in the area - for more pics see waypoint GCGH57.

Bridge between the parks in Richland, MS. Photo and coordinates taken at the same location.
I discovered this Suspension Bridge in Queanbeyan near Canberra Australia. It cannot support vehicular traffic, but is quite large – with a span of 75m. It crosses the Queanbeyan river, just upriver from the town centre. It was built in 1938, replacing the original suspension bridge which was destroyed by floods in 1925.
Felt like I was still rocking when I got off this one! This bridge spans the River Torrens just upstream from the Adelaide Zoo, South Australia. At dawn and sunset you think you are in Africa by the sounds of the animals reverberating up the banks of the river.
