Searched with a group for about 45 minutes before conceding defeat...
Perhaps I will return to search again...
Perhaps I will return to search again...
It was a cool but clear morning that seemed to promise a nice day. So rather than hang around home, I headed out for a drive into the hills to find a few caches.
I stopped in to have a look for this one as I passed by. However, like the previous couple of searchers, I was unable to find a cache, even after widening my search area quite considerably. Might warrant a check.

With a nice evening forecast and getting out of work on time, I decided to hit another section of these SFE Challenge series, attacking the drivebys, although some still required me to walk up/down from the road. My only downfall was forgetting to fill the car with petrol, and so by the time I realised as I was ascending up to Norton Summit, I was quite far from the closest petrol station. I figured I still had enough fuel to still drive the planned route, although without bringing a ladder today and feeling the pressures of my flashing fuel light, I decided to leave a few for another day.
This was my final cache attempt of the day, and I was attracted to this cache's age. I thought it would be pretty quick and easy, since Alex caches generally have good coordinates. However after 20 min of looking and expanding my look in the vicinity, I could not locate. A PAF for help did give me some advice, and I was blown away to what I needed to do. However this still didn't help, as I was looking for another 20 min, and still nothing. There were a couple of times I thought I had found something, but nope. Sigh, think I need to bring a friend or something to help look for this one.

If the coords aren't accurate, then I have no chance... dared not spend too long looking as I don't know if I parked in a driveway!
I was going to drive straight past until I realised this is an oldie. Not too many caches left from this vintage so I was determined to find the prize.
Coordinates were a little off for me but widening my search area I eventually found the cache. The logbook is a little damp but still writable.
Thanks for keeping this old cache alive.

**# 22392** Found on our 2018 mega trip from NSW to QLD, the NT, SA and beyond.
A fine sunny Spring day for a drive around some of the SFE challenges and a few others nearby.
Hardly any muggles around here today and mostly good quick finds.
Another nice old cache from Alex, placed 2 years before I started caching.
And well worth the stop by to check out the views as well.
An excellent cache and a favourite point from me.
Thanks for the cache alex,

Found this on a beautiful winter day. Challenging to park with council work signs in the way but just managed. TFTC TNLNSL Lots of houses with lovely views.
Out and about in the picturesque Adelaide Hills loving all the colours of Autumn [^]

I popped by the view today and took the short stroll,
oblivious to just how olde this cache hide is [:o]

And now I am logging this find,

And also hidden by the legendary "alex" [:o]
How did this cache escape me finding it for over a decade of touring the area.
How has this cache escaped the muggles finding it for over a decade and a half !!

Found at 1:10 PM GAFF1.
Just had to do this cache as it is one of those that was placed before we started caching that we are targetting.
A flash back to the early days of caching with that familiar cache container. Pity that the views have been obscured after 15 years of tree growth.
Thanks alex.

Having just done the SFE trail and heading back to the car with Brad after walking part of the Corkscrew we noticed this was a 2003 cache so headed in. From the west it looks like there is a track from the road for about 160m to GZ but it stops to the side and there is then some elevation to contend with. A quick find was made and our names were soon in the log. TFTC
An oldie but a goodie. Out today with B@W visiting from interstate. This was one of the four today which we could add to the B&J list

After a good caching day in the area including a nice walk, I decided to stop for one more before heading back to town. Cool hide, even though the view has been long obscured by vegetation. TFTC!!
GZ then a hunt then a squeal as the guarding lizard and cockroach scuttled away. Great spot for a long lived cache. TFTC
Today our geocaching mission was to finish a couple of multi’s we had started previously. Your cache was found along the way.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Out once again with Moneydork, Mattycat and this time joined by one half of Team Froghoppin for the usual Tuesday night caching run, held on a Wednesday! Tonight was a hills run, taking on some of the older nemisis trads and the spate of new challenge caches that have appeared up this way.
Our last stop before heading back into the city, or so we thought! FTF's wait for no man! Amazing views up here Alex, thanks for continuing to contribute and maintain excellent scenic caches to the geocaching community!
This was find number 11 of 12 for the day for me. TFTC alex!

Cache # 1546.
Recently I solve a puzzle cache, with the final location on Montacute Road. This morning, I drove to there, and find this cache on the way.
Found the path, and walked to GZ. Looked around, and there was no obvious spot.
If I was the cacher owner, where would I hide the cache? Somewhere won't be muggled! Then I found the cache quickly, with the help of hint.
Good size cache container. It was guarded by a lizard and a beetle. Managed to open the cache, and signed the log book inside. Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks for the cache, Alex. Glad to see a cache which is about 14.5 years old.

Found this one while out and about with GeoDaughter Kezz from SaintsMadHouse. The cache is in good condition, thanks for bringing me here!
I love finding a good sized geocache, this one happens to be older than my daughter and she is in high school, it may be the oldest I have found. It is in great condition with some trades and one of my pathtags happened to fall in!
out and about with rod81w on route from south to do the 50 series, quick stroll to gz in the rain, so the views where not what they could be, but nice choice of location.
Nice small walk. Gps was a bit off but once it settled had treasure in hand. Tftc!
Dr Owl and I were on our way to another cache quest and stopped as I hadn't done this one. GPS was playing up big time. A bit of searching around and under Dr Owl's expert tutelage and memory had the signature on the log book in a reasonable amount of time if not quick. Dr Owl pleased to see so many wildflowers about and named a few. Were careful not to stomp. Thanks
After lunch Owl dragged Mrs Aussie M&M on a cache hunt, despite the latter's lack of sensible shoes. Fortunately their choice of parking location led to an easy walk, a relatively straightforward find but no views. You could cut down the trees to get one, but that would mean the glorious display of native and non-native flowers in full bloom at the moment would have no shade. Owl would rather have the flowers! Thanks for a delightful expedition.
Out with travellinbees and ktown krew to collect some smileys and a bit of knitting. New area to cache through.

I'd gone for a 37km ride up mount lofty and back earlier in the day. But I wondered what the riding is like on the other side of the mountain. So we hopped in the car and headed out in to this amazing area and found a few caches along the way. I'll have to figure out a route for my next ride through this area. I also checked out the famous corkscrew road on the way to the next cache. TFTC Alex!
Found It!
A nice little walk and some great views! Took me quite a bit longer to find the cache than it should have though - the CO must have sold me a GPS that isn't quite sure where it is

Was out and about today and some caching was also in order. Nice place took a moment to find, knowing how trees and rain can sometimes throw GPSs off I look further then the GPS took me almost immediately, 5 min later I'm walking back to my car.
Ahhhhhh! Found it 8 metres away from coords. We persisted for close to an hour *** all because Brisal5 HAD NOT found it and so I had too. ;-D haha
Found with Clulesss

Returned for another look. The soursobs were gone and the peas all but dead. Searched the well trodden area under the tree at GZ for nada again. This time I went a bit further afield and had one of those...oh no moments. If only I had searched this far last time I would have found it then too! Thanks Alex.
Lots of weeds up here and we really couldn't seem to find anywhere that this cache might be, thinking it might be buried was our only explanation and the weeds were not giving up anything. Will have to come back. TFTH anyway.
Damnation, a sea of soursobs and sweet pea vines at GZ. Stomped around for about 10 minutes without turning up anything out of that mesh of greenery. Perhaps return during summer to have a better chance.
A definite favourite!!!! Great views from the GZ and good cammo that will protect the cache from the sun. Thanks Alex for the hide!
Lovely little spot. Just trying out the new tank bag on the motorbike with its map pocket for geocaching. Nice way to clock up 260. TNLN. TFTC

Found by Mr & Mrs M-SEZ on an afternoon of kid-free caching. We over-shot the parking spot at first because we were distracted with conversation. After back-tracking and a nice stroll, we soon had the cache in hand. Thanks for bringing us to this lovely spot.

nice esay find on a day in the hills and always good to get these older caches
Found in the company of Honeysucker & Mr. Scoobster on a day out gallivanting around the countryside. Was quite excited when I saw this was such an old one!

After quite a stiff climb up the hill we came across the cache. Lucky for Monty there were no enemy snipers around a he had taken off his hat .
Jokingly I remarked to MissyLJ "Wouldn't it be funny if there was a road up over the back of the hill". As it turns out there was!!! Needless to say we took the easy way down

I think maybe we parked in the wrong spot for this one... and ended up clambering up the steep side of the hill. Cache was out in the open, helmet sitting off to the side... Took Airforce pin, and left ABC block. Took in the views and loved the spot. TFTC.
Took a few minutes to find Monty due to the GPSr playing silly buggars, but then found him sitting there with his helmet on. Clear views early this fine morning. TFTC
GPS was out at first, but we didn't need it, because all of it's cover was blown off with the recent winds up here. Too cloudy for views today.
Cheers from the Barra family

Have to agree with Shonky here - Monty's not cute. Not even the Full Monty (although that is a good cache). Found with JadedOptimist, and almost walked through a huge, but unoccupied, spider web. Best part was JO standing up and walking straight through it when he'd finished re-hiding the cache . TFTC Alex.
Didn't really stop to take in the views after being startled by a gecko whilst discovering the cache, then walking straight into massive spider web when leaving. I disagree with O'Cholio though...the best part was seeing his reaction when I threw the spider ( small stick ) on him. Ahhhh good times. TFTC
CAUTION: Please be extremely careful with your approach. Luckily we walked past it and came back to GZ from downhill otherwise we'd have a giant spider on our faces. Check out the pic. Left GC.
Found a second guardian of this cache, about head height, on a huge web. So keep an eye out for it, as it is almost directly over the cache. Was tempted to move this guy, but he seems to be doing a pretty good job of keeping the local bug population in check. The cache was an easy walk and find. Took led light, left roo. TFTC.

Now lets get one thing straight. Monty is definitely not cute, no matter what Sally says. The only cute thing here was the guardian of the cache, the little gecko that is still in residence! Thanks for the cache Alex, but with a cache name like this I do wonder what will happen next time Freddo walks into the shop.
Was mislead by the many other pieces of tin on the hilltop before finding the right place. Found with Badooleoo.
GPS took me to 0m, geocache location could be seen in the distance.
Left my card in this one.

I suspect that Alex has left some bad GPSr vibes in the area to entice cachers to buy a new one .
We could not fix a GZ. Or even close to one.
After admiring the shelter, we surveyed the area.
We found a lot of rubbish. We called it quits.
Then we found a cache. Quitters luck.

Found about 30m North of what the magic arrow reckoned. Plenty of broken glass to be careful of. What a great place for a CITO event! I'm not sure what that broken board is made out of but it could be Asbestos (given the age of the other rubbish). Hence any CITO event should have a certified Asbestos removalist check the area first.
Did the same thing as AdrianMc, came in the wrong way and found the memorial. Still lots of plastic flowers there. Much easier when you come from the right direction. Looks like Monty set up camp nearby, though his lean-to looks a bit bare.
