After the sunset on the City, I stop at the coords and I take a picture. Found during our fabulous three-week trip to Australia : Sydney > Brisbane > Hervey Bay > Uluru > Great Ocean Road > MelbourneGreetings from France ! Merci GeoPiggies pour la cache et la balade. The French, er, Americans, er, Russians are coming : Cotation D1.0/T1.0 - Taille VirtuelleCache #20156 trouve le 20 novembre 2024
After an excellent afternoon at Taronga Zoo seeing most of Australia's iconic animals, my family headed for the ferry whilst I headed for the two caches on Bradley's Head. This was my next stop & I made my way up to the given coordinates to explore the fortifications. I was disappointed to find the underground section gated off, but took a photo as evidence of my visit before dipping my *Horses Around the World* geocoin which only visits caches older than 20 years.Found at 16:43Cache #10468TFTC GeoPiggies
With this cache Im one step closer to completing my Ausmer. Three more to go. Up in Sydney to visit my son and catch a footy match I couldnt resist heading out and putting this old in the found bank.Cache was in good condition and the area was beautiful.Even with the highway beside it.Cheers
We lived not very far up the road in a little apartment in Mosman during our Sydney phase, 25 years ago, and would often come down to walk around this fascinating area before geocaching was a thing. Now we've moved interstate, so it was lovely to reminisce about our time in this city as we visited this oldie. A beaut spot here - thanks, GeoPiggies.
We visited historic Bradley's Head with our Military History Club today and grabbed a few caches around the area. A very interesting site from a military history perspective and not to mention a perfect day with more than perfect views of our harbour. We deciphered the hints prior to eventually arriving at the Virtual. TFTC GeoPiggies.
This was a very easy virtual, but we made it more difficult than it needed to be by not reading the listing properly and deciphering the encoded messages. The walk in along the walking trail from the ferry was muddy and messy, and as it was nearly dark we walked back along the road. We have been targeting caches around Sydney that fill months in our calendar stats that we can't find in Queensland, and this was the last we were able to do before heading out to the airport and returning to sunny Queensland.
14:27After a couple of days exploring around Circular Quay it was time to venture a little further to the famed Taronga Zoo. We were lucky enough to have time to explore a little more around Watson's Bay, headland, including this historic site.A BIG thank you to the CO who created this virtual cache.37073
Pleasant walk around the headland inspecting some highlights, including this historic site. Also good to bag an "oldie". TFTC.
A nice visit to the headland. Almost had to pay twice for the parking but safely averted.Good to get one of Sydney's oldest caches ticked off.
#2000This was the eighth of nine finds for the day. After completing the nearby Adventure Lab, I doubled-back and headed towards GZ for this virtual. I managed to time this so not only would this be my 2000th find, but it would fill a missing month/year combination, it would help me fill one last requirement for a challenge cache that I found at the recent Canberra Mega, and fulfilling this would give me my first 5/5 cache. I was wondering around trying to get a fix on the GPSr and then realised there are few spots here that would suffice. What drew my attention were the small gaps that the soldiers would have to watch out for the enemy. Today, there was no such worry except being bitten by mosquitos. I loved the shade, the sounds of the water, and overall quite nature aside from the sounds of the harbour. TFTV.
Great start to the morning, before we got completely soaked at the zoo. We saw an Australian frilled lizard basking on a grate in 20 degree drizzle! He must be confused. A brush turkey also came to say 'hello'. We spent a while on all the decrypts, but realised in the end we didn't need it! Explored the site and took photos. Thanks for the history lesson.
Interesting piece of history here. As bdp said we had a spider in the car. Good thing she could pull over quickly.
Wow!! What a top spot! After enjoying a quick ferry trip on the harbour, we then got spoilt fur views the whole way along the walking trail. As well as some wildlife encounters. Then up the stairs to this piece of history. Admittedly we never would have come here if it wasnt for this cache, but Im so glad we did. Great place to visit, learn and enjoy.
The Adelaide Leap Day Mega and Canberra Geobash gave us a great excuse for a road trip. This trip has shown us so many new and interesting places as weve chased LGAs, oldies, challenges, interesting D/T combinations, rarer cache types and favourites.Meeting up with friends old and new along the way, we sometimes cached together and sometimes alone but always had a great time. Our trek home continues today as we stop in Sydney for a day to attend an event and find a handful of oldies and LGAs.This was an interesting place to visit and we made time to read the information sign while we were here even though the weather wasnt very accommodating. Always love learning some of the history of places we visit. Thanks for placing this cache for us and adding to our enjoyment.
Day 21 of our roadtrip in Australia. We're still in Sydney, so no road tripping, instead a lot of walking. There's so much to see here! And what we love so far, a lot of the caches have very precise hints, very tourist friendly. Today's plan is the Sydney Tower and the zoo, of course again with some caches in the mix. Walked over after visiting the zoo to this old virtual. Interesting fortifications. Took a few photos. Thanks and kind regards from Switzerland, Hinni&Simo
Visited it during 28-days geotrip to Australia, N.Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, Am.Samoa, Fr.Polynesia with Marci, Ch. Sometimes we logged as "MT" or "Jonea" or "MTCh". Thanks for showing nice caches and places. MT-Jonea from Brno city in Czechia EU. FP
Today raija485 and I did a lot of sight-seeing and at the same time, of course, we did geocaching. We found several caches during the day and this was one of them. There should be much more time available, so that we would have been able to visit more places to admire great places. Today we visit Taronga Zoo and after that made little walk. Thanks for the virtualcache and greetings from Finland!
After visiting Taronga Zoo we walked to Bradleys Head. Thank you for this virtual.
As we were visiting the zoo we couldn't pass up the opportunity to also make a stop at this historic spot. Sadly the underground section was locked up, but we spent time exploring the area under the watchful eye of a local kooka. Amazing place! Thanks for bringing us here!
I am visiting Australia from Canada and today I am wandering around Sydney. It is such a lovely city. I am always looking for oldies and some of the other cool caches nearby. The cachers around here sure are super friendly and helpful. Thanks for the smile.

Second day in Australia ??. This is my first visit to this extraordinary continent and the fulfillment of a long-cherished dream. In the past, it always failed due to the lack of a travel companion. Now I had the chance to join a large group of mainly German geocachers and I was delighted to take it. When I discovered the old cache on the GC map in preparation for the trip, I was unsure whether I could get there without a car. But it was quite easy to take the ferry from Circular Quay to Taragona Zoo. Even the walk to the GZ was a great experience. This was only topped by the historical location and the beautiful view.Thank you for laying & taking care .Zweiter Tag in Australien ??.
Danke fr diesen Geocache. Danke fr die Ausarbeitung. Danke frs Zeigen.Lieber Gru aus Duisburg / DeutschlandAndyDieser Logeintrag wird mit Hilfe von Google bersetzt.__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________We set off on a long journey with 37 geocachers from Germany, Denmark, Luxembourg and Switzerland. Three weeks to Australia and New Zealand, starting with a stopover in Doha, Qatar. I have never been so long and so far away from home. An exciting time. When geocaching, the focus was on many different cache types, but also special ratings, challenges and especially a few very old caches from the years 2000 and 2001. But also, of course, especially the geocaches that were easily accessible on foot from the hotel.Of course, the focus wasn't just on geocaching; the sights of the individual stations we visited also deserved attention. We entered our team name Downunder 2024 in the logbooks, saving logbook space and efficiently. It was a very special trip in a large team, which was also a lot of fun.Today we visited the areas around Sydney.Due to the large number of caches, there is usually only one standard log, for which I would like to apologize to the different owners. Thanks for this geocache. Thanks for the elaboration. Thank you for showing me.Kind regards from Duisburg / GermanyAndyThis log entry is translated with the help of Google.
We have traveled with 36 likeminded geocachers to Australia and New Zealand resulting in lots of opportunities for sightseeing and geocaching. The logbooks were mostly signed under the teamname "Team DownUnder24" and answers were sent to owners for the group, as appropriate. This has been a great trip with a multifold of new impressions and experiences.During our stay in Sydney we had also the opportunity to visit some caches. This cache was also among our finds today. Thanks for leading us here and showing and thanks for the cache.
Together with 36 other geocachers, the KiSt team undertook a very long trip to Australia ???? and New Zealand ???? for three weeks. On both the outward and return journeys, there was a stopover in Doha, the capital of Qatar ????.We experienced a great deal on this trip and gained many very different impressions of the two countries, their nature and their culture. Of course, the main focus was on visiting as many caches of as many different types as possible and also all accessible old cans. However, we also made sure to visit many special places of interest and to gain as comprehensive an impression as possible of nature and its flora and fauna. To save the logbooks, we usually signed in with our team name **Downunder24**. For "special" cans, however, we have not missed the opportunity to leave our nickname as well. This beautiful cache is now also one of our finds.Due to the large number of caches visited, it is unfortunately not possible for us to write an individual log for each can, which is why we would like to apologize to the owners for this collective log.We also met other cachers at some of the events and were able to share our experiences. Many thanks to the event owners!Of course we would like to thank all the owners for showing us the great locations, the sometimes tricky puzzles, exciting multis and wherigos, as well as the interesting virtuals and earth caches - TFTC!!!---In der Besetzung KiSt unternahmen wir zusammen mit 36 weiteren Geocachern fr drei Wochen eine sehr weite Reise nach Australien ???? und Neuseeland ????.

# 21392Whau, I am on a three week trip with Cacher-Reisen and a bunch of fellow geocachers to Australia and New Zealand. It is so odd to imagine that I am going to visit a place that is nearly on the opposite of the globe from my usual hangouts. In Denmark it is late winter/early spring, and I am exchanging the winter-part for late summer in Australia and early autumn in New Zealand. This is so exciting. The itinerary is Frankfurt (Germany), Doha (Qatar), Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns (Australia) and Auckland, Rotorua, Wellington, Blenheim, Christchurch, Dunedin, Cromwell, Queenstown (New Zealand) before flying back to Europe. That will be two new continents and three new countries for me - and as far away from home as I have ever been. It is a lot of places and travelling, but we also have a plan to find lots of geocaches and see the sights and beautiful nature. After the mornings event a small group went in search of some old caches. I had three caches that fit well into my Jasmer calendar for the third and fourth loop. We used public transport in the beginning and at the end and Ubers in between the oldies. Nice and comfortable way to get around.Heading back to the parking area from Lane Cove there was talk of other old geocaches. I had my eye on this old virtual cache, and so had some of the others in the group. Again we called Ubers and got relocated here. Thanks for the info in the cache description regarding the cache and the area. We walked down to the picnic area and enjoyed the walk to the zoo and ferry docks. Plenty of wildlife outside the zoo, and some were hoping to be feed crumbs from our snacks.Tak for cachen til GeoPiggies.
Found this cache on a 24-day trip to Australia and New Zealand with a night of stopover in Qatar. In Qatar we have an evening and almost a full day of geocaching before we take the long flight to Downunder. In Australia we will visit the citys of Sydney, Melbourne, Aidelaide and Cairns. Our stays in New Zealand will be in Aukland, Rotorua, Wellington, Blenheim, Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown. For me the focus will be on old caches, placed in 2000 and obviously on the remaining webcams in Australia and New Zealand. We are a group of 38 Geocachers from Germany, Denmark and Luxembourg. At geocaches that we visit as a group, we sign the logbooks with our team-name "Team DownUnder24" to safe the owners a lot of space in the logbooks.Quite a trip to get here. But in the end we managed it.Merci frs Dosal sogt da GoanToni Thanks to GeoPiggies for hiding and maintaining this geocache.

6 months ago, during a frenzy, we said to ourselves "why not going to the mega in Adelaide for the leapday". From scratch we moved on to preparing an 18-day project in Australia. Our objectives are simple, visit a small part of this immense continent while validating a few caches. There are so many caches (impossible to do everything) that we will select. Our plan will allow us to visit Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Mount Gambier and finish in Adelaide for the famous Mega.During our stay we will log PestiHoot for Pestinette and Blackhoot.Today the plan is to visit northern Sydney guided by targeted caches. It allowed us to discover pretty parks, beautiful landscapes, Australian leeches and other animals. Thanks to the caches we visited many sites evoking Australian culture and history. Thanks for the cache and the discovery of beautiful or original spots

Nice and accessible for me being just across the Harbour from near where we are staying, and a missing Jasmer month too! Woop woop. Interesting sights at GZ and prof of presence pictures were taken and will be posted. An early start of 0600 today and a big 8kms walked before 0745 and breakfast back at the hotel on Kent St. The temperature and lack of muggles are both conducive for a bit of caching and that was appealing.Todays geocaching exploits were once again two-fold. First up was my early morning 4A out and about from 0600 until Ive found a couple and walked 5 or 6 kms. Then after mrs c and I head out for the day we headed a variety of places, including The Rocks, The Harbour Bridge and then later out to Taronga Zoo on the ferry, but solely for caching purposes! Thanks to all COs for their hides to enable my finds.
Jimmy and Goldy are staying in Sydney for a few days. We are grabbing some caches but mostly just sightseeing. The only one I wasn't leaving without was Lane Cove (GC3E) as it is Australia's oldest cache.I love virtual caches and so my second priority was finding as many virtuals as I can during our stay.Today, we took the ferry across to Taronga Zoo. Followed by a small amount of caching nearby. After we wrapped up at the Zoo, we made the 15 minute walk to here.A very nice spot here. Loved walking around and seeing all the stuff here and nearby. I've uploaded my photo. Thanks for bringing us here. Thanks GeoPiggies for this virtual cache, which brings Goldy's total find count to 3956 on the 3rd of February 2024.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . We spent some days here in Barangaroo before heading farther south to NZ. Today, we went by ferry to the "Taronga Zoo" station and got off for a walk. What a beautiful nature we saw and listened to here in the park! Arriving at GZ there was nobody around us so we examined everything closely... These dugouts were found a lot - close to Berlin - where they appear just in the woods... quite interesating, what you can explore there.... And this reminded me of that... We took a picture with the canon to proof we had been here. Many thanks to GeoPiggies for leading us here and showing this place, for providing the information! Going into the underground might have been also interesting, but as we have lots of this in Germany (and forgot our flaschlights today...), we didn't went in there.... Best wishes from Cuxine . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ________________oooooooo____________oooooooooooooo_________oooooooooooooooooo________oooooooooooooooooooo_______oooooooooooooooooooo____oooooo_______oooooooooooooooooooo___ooo__ooo_______oooooooooooooooooooo__oooo____oo________oooooooooooooooooooooooo_________oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo_oooo_______oooooooooooooooooo________ooooo___ooooooooooooooooooooooo_________oo_ooo____oooooooooooooooooooooooooo_____oooooooo__ooo_oooooo__________oo___oooo_______ooo__ooo_ooo______oooo__ooo_______oooo___ooo__ooo___ooooo___ooo_____ooo___ooo____oo____ooo____oooooo__ooo____ooooooo____________ooo_____ooooo____ooo
We spent today touring around Sydney, catching up with friends and finding a few of the old geocaches around. This one has been high on our target list for quite some time and we're really happy to have finally been able to claim it. And it's in a lovely area we would never have visited if it wasn't for geocaching!A favorite point in thanks for keeping this one alive. Thanks for find #5334TNLN

Down from Gold Coast exploring some parts of Sydney ive never been to. And to get the old cache. I AM GUR THE SKITZ CACHER
We took the ferry from Circular Quay to Taragona zoo, followed by a lovely walk around to the head along the footpath to find this old virtual. Another old cache which we have found in Australia. TFTC
Found, with shaneo58. We came down from Newcastle on the train, Not the best day for the trains, From Hornsby to Central was all stops, until halve way down they changed it to only a select few stations (not ours). And on the way home we got on the 'Newcastle train" with all the announcement for the stops including ours., to find the train going off to Blacktow, catching out quit a few people on the train. Decuphered the code years ago, and finally got here, Signed log and Cache replaced as found.**Thanks For The Cache** GeoPiggies. This makes the 3rd cache of 5 for today making a grand total of 4290 at 12:03PM on this Thursday the 16th of November in the Year 2023
My first time caching around Bradley's Headland. What beautiful views. It is a pity that this cache has turned into a virtual. It would have been nice to look for the prize. Still its still good to log a find on a cache so old. TFTC Geo Piggies and for bringing me here.
july 2001.such a long time ago. a different era even. before the tragedy that changed the world forever a few months later in september. it was such a big event, decades later one can still recall where they were when they heard the news. i was dividing my time back then between two houses. one on the sunshine coast and one in brisbane. seems forever ago now.so i first discovered geocaching late one evening (many years later) in february 2016 while in the beautufil town of Bled, Slovenia. since then i've hunted down tupperware or learnt about geological formations, selfied webcams and attempted solving puzzles in this bizarre game thats become quite addictive.over the course of the years i've been playing, i've come to realise there's many statistics that make up the intricacies of the geo profile.one of these led to one of (if not the first) the challenge caches that seem to be gaining in popularity these days.that challenge was to find a geocache planted in every month of every year since inception. it's become known worldwide as the jasmer grid. the older the month, it seems in a lot of cases, the rarer the number that still exist. four of the months in particular are difficult to obtain outside continental usa. August 2000 being the hardest month with just four caches still active on the planet.so when i started to make lists of months that i was missing, july 2001 stood out. a while later i found myself touring Sydney and so this cache quickly made it's way to the top of the list.I'm so glad i came up here first before making my way to the end of the headland. i learnt about what was here, and how they had to move the guns higher due to a better angle. i sat down in the shade eating lunch and recalling history.thank you so much for initially hiding a cache here and then deciding to keep it alive and make it a virtual instead.this cache is also my mini milestone cache find number 4500.my cher moment attached.
TFTC! Did the Bradley's Head Adventure Lab walk then headed to the pub for a refreshing pint and to decipher this virtual.
Find number 12532 at 2:36:04 pm on Sunday the 24 September 2023Departed Melbourne many weeks ago now and have been travelling north for the winter, well, for the northern warmth actually (hopefully ), passing through as many small towns as I can grabbing the odd cache here and there as I travel. Finally made the northern warmth and the Cape and we have loved every minute of it now we are on our way home again and having many more adventures as we slowly travel south. Also sad now that it's starting to get colder.Today, we travelled from Swansea (near Newcastle) to Lane Cove in Sydney, grabbing a few geocaches along the way and a few more after we had arrived and setup camp.Enjoyed our walk around the area on this gorgeous day **Thanks for placing this cache GeoPiggies**---Have you logged your will attend for the Cachemas In July event?More details are available at: [GCA7WT4](https://coord.info/GCA7WT4) If you are looking for some new caches to find, explore the nominees for the 2022 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards. The Geocaching List is available [here](https://coord.info/BMC8QYR)!
While on a road trip with CaptainKirky, we thought we would stop by here for a few caches including this one with a bit of history behind it.
Day 5: Bradleys Head - Cremorne Point - Darling Harbour
Another day in Sydney, and today’s focus was on ferries. The partner wanted to visit Taronga Zoo, and I needed to find the virtual on Bradleys Head so there was a nice convergence on where we needed to be. After that, it was off the Darling Harbour for a couple more caches to round the day off.
(end of the cut and paste bit)
I suppose the intent of the cache is to just take a photo at the GZ? Well, that I did, and I hope it’s all good. Thanks for showing us this interesting piece of history, I am aware that the many “heads” of the harbour each have their unique history and this one is no difference. The trenches and placements are oh-so-familiar. We definitely have the same back in Singapore. Thanks for showing and for the virtual cache!

Greetings from Ireland - this is a generic log for now until I return home / have WiFi - I want to log all finds now so I don't forget them.
FPs will be awarded at the time of this log (where applicable) so I don't forget.
It's not clear what you are meant to do here and a lot or previous logs have no photos which I found suss.... so I've taken a photo as close to gz as I could get. Thanks for keeping this oldie alive! Tftc!

What a cool bit of history here and how times have changed.
Today I headed over from mascot via the ferry to Taronga zoo, I only had 1 LGA left within Sydney itself (Mosman) so nice to come and find a few caches.
Thanks for the cache

A cache that has been on my find list for a very long time. while in town I made a biggish detour out here in the dark to collect.
While the gates to the reserve were open they said they closed at 8pm. Being 8.45pm already I decided to walk the last bit rather than being locked in. But when i got to the end I found a couple of cars in the car park with no intention of going soon, so I could have made the drive.
I took a little chance to explore the old defenses and snapped a couple of shots.
Great place and thanks for bringing me here,
Several photos taken in the dark.

After flying into Coolangatta, we hired a car and drove down the coast.
A great drive, using the roads less traveled, off the main highways, we found some great places, all because of Geocaches
We called into put a smiley here as it’s an oldie, with so much history here, we spent a fair bit of time exploring the area.
There was a wedding down on the lower area, awesome views to the harbour,
but luckily we had this are muggle free.
This is why we enjoy geocaching, as we see many interesting historical places in this wonderful country
Thanks for the Virtual Cache

Solo caching day today as Sandyofthesea is a bit off colour. Aiming for old caches and a few new LGA’s.
Really happy to tick this oldie off. What an excellent location.

What a year Sandyofthesea and I have had. We kitted out the Prado and took off from Perth, Western Australia at the start of April 2022 to travel more of Australia using geocaching as a guide to see the sights. We started with the Nullabour, Eyre and York Peninsulas, the Riverlands, visited family in Victoria and then back in SA it got cold. Flinders and the Oodnadatta Track was amazing and we finally warmed up in Dalhousie Springs. The Alice beckoned and then a change of plan and we ended up tackling the Tanami Track to the Kimberley and Bungles Bungles. Territory Day in Darwin was unhinged - please try and do it! The Gulf, the coast and the car breaker ‘Old Tele Track’ to the top of Cape York. This is a must but it’s not easy! Eventually made it to Brisbane to get some fixes to the car….. let’s see where we end up.
GeoPiggies, I found The French, er, Americans, er, Russians are coming today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.

I had set my sights on this one long before starting my trip to Australia. This virtual would fill one of the few remaining blanks in my jasmer matrix so I was quite excited to make a journey out of it today and managed to do a few more hides along the way. At gz I walked around for a while even if I didn’t venture underground. I was more than happy to snap a few photos above ground. And now all I have left in the jasmer are a few months in 2000.
A big thank you to GeoPiggies for creating and maintaining this geocache, so that the rest of us can entertain our hobby.

I’m visiting from Brisbane and decided to do a walk from Milson’s Point to Bradley’s Head, finding caches along the way.
This was my main target cache for today due to its age. I worked out the code while sitting down and enjoying the peaceful location except for the brush turkeys looking to see if I had any food. TftV and keeping it going so a fp.

In Sydney for a conference today, and spent a dull moment in the presentations decoding your messages! This afternoon it was time to play This is a cool site that I probably wouldn’t have stumbled across without geocaching. Thanks for bringing me here.
Great spot. Did not know these were here. Thanks so much. I took a photo but forgot to put something unique or identifiable in it.
...er I thought I'd come along as well.
Like others, caught the ferry from Circular Quay and really enjoyed the walk along the coastal path to the fortifications.
Enjoyed the signs along the way, but glad I didn't encounter a green python!. Solved the PiggieScript before I came along. Gorgeous day and thanks for keeping this older cache going

I was at a loose end today and so decided to come to this area and pick up this oldie. I caught the ferry from Circular Quay, and made the walk here. I am so glad I did. It was a lovely walk through the bush, lots of different wildlife to see and the views of the bay were amazing and it was very busy today both in and over the water!
