Logs
As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.
Cache maintenance is an essential part of owning a geocache, this one has an unactioned "Needs maintenance" log for 6 months, and multiple DNF logs.
Please decide what you're planning to do with it and post an appropriate note within a week.

Sadly another DNF. looked over the entire area at some very good spots....nothing. seems to be gone imho.
*WARNING* The top of the mullock heaps have become very dangerous since the recent rain. I had a partial collapse which involved me creating a hole about a meter deep. I would advice not heading to the top of the grey heap anytime soon

Visiting Mt Gambier for the Australian Mountainbike Orienteering Championships. We won the OZ - NZ Challenge with 13-8, but I could not find this cache. Found good hidey-holes for it. It needs checking out or otherwise cross it off. Nice location, so fixing up would be a good idea!
Is it possible to check the status of this cache? No finds for a while and 3 DNFs might warrant a look.
Cheers,
Rob

We looked and looked and did not find. We did find a tin lid ? from a coffee tin and a pen cap.
Hope it is still where you put it.
Good location and another interesting off the main track for us.

Had a hunt round today, but despite finding a few likely hidey holes, I couldn't spot the cache.
Found the way into gz ok (actually TomTom did.) Once there I started the search and after about 20 minutes of checking everything that I could, the only thing I found was a coffee tin lid rather like some others I have seen.
A great cache in a first rate spot. We enjoyed the short scramble up to this one after a morning at the Talbot markets. A freshening breeze kept the flies at bay while we signed the log, did swaps and took some photos. Left a 2007 generic geocoin and swapped a puzzle game for some geese. Thanks PK!
A great find at 7.30am I think. I passed a lone walker on the way in otherewise the place to myself. I was expecting a coffee tin but had to just make do with its lid and a sistema replacement. TNLN thanks pyrenees kid for kickstarting my day in this historic area.
6th and final cache for our Maryborogh Expedition. My third of yours for the day.
Found @ 5.10pm. Find # 183.
This one was done because it was on the way home. Nearly gave this one up due to the fact that I could NOT find the correct way of approach. Dead ends, wrong roads and all.
Decided on one LAST try of one last road, and BINGO, we found it. We actually parked about 30m from GZ, and we drive a 2wd Festiva!!
Interesting area. Another example of the value of Geocaching. I would NEVER have visited here were it not for this sport!!
The cache was surrounded by a BIG black spider, so please be careful when retrieving the containor!! T:opener, L:fozzy card and squirrell
Thanks PK, its a pleasure as always

Found with SuperJaz, the geo-juniors and a couple of muggle friends. The description said this one was on a hilltop, but as we drove towards the area couldn't see any hills. It soon became clear what the hilltop was, and the views of the flat countryside from up here are pretty good.
I definitely would rate the terrain as > 1.5, more like 2.5.
T: stickers, toy horse
L: finger puppet, Pooh magnifying glass

Second of six cache finds for the day. My Mother in-law had to go to a funeral in maryborough and needed someone to drive her there, so I ran down my check list ( Automatic car, Cruise control, Fuel paid for, Lunch at the local pub paid for and caches to log) all looked good was I dreaming. This was an interesting piece of gold mining history; I really loved the view from on top of the mounds. The cache description could do with an update, now we are no longer looking for a coffee tin but are looking for a Sistema container. Thanks Pyrenees Kid for the cache.
Found by bevfre 10am Thanks for replacing this cache found on 2nd visit took seal Left Yellow Bird Thank you

Found by Roma and Max.
We have been watching this cache for some time now believing that it was no longer available. Thanks to caughtatworks recent visit and the resulting reincarnation, we put it back on our list of caches still to be found.
What an interesting site and it is obvious now why it is so popular with another sporting group.
We took a Dinosaur and left a Mondo Figurine and a pen.
Thanks Pyrenees Kid and in particular CAW for your valuable contribution to the continuance of this hide.
Romax.

I found the cache. Well, OK, like the last couple of cachers I only found the lid. So I signed it with a texta. Is that cheating?
Possibly, so to make amends for declaring a find on a cache where only the lid remains, albeit a signed lid, I left a replacement cache. This area is too cool to not have a findeable cache located here.
It took not too long to find a way into the cache location. A few wrong turns, but nevertheless we were able to drive in and park close to GZ. In a 2WD there should be no problems unless it has been raining as there are potentially a few potholes to navigate.
After I found the lid, I trudged back to the car, found a spare plastic box (lock-n-lock style), grabbed a spare notebook and filled the cache with swaps. I then trudged back to the cache (all in 30+ heat, what am I mad?) and logged my find on the remaining tin lid.
Unfortunately I didn't have a spare pen, so please bring your own.
The cache is around 400ml in size, a clear plastic container, hidden in exactly the same location as the previous cache (I could see the hole it had made), so if you decide to return you should know exactly where it is.
It is apparent that bikers use this hill, so please try and make the cache hide look natural and not like the proverbial geo-cairn of stones.
Thanks Pyenees Kid. It's a pity that the original is gone, but hopefully the replacement will remain a little longer.

Only found the lid to the cache @ co ords given. unfortunatly the rest of the coffee tin was not attatched. positive i was in the right spot. scoured the base of the mullock heap for the remenants but to no avail. i have grave fears for its well being.[xx(]
Found the lid to this cache unfortunatly the rest of the coffee tin was not attatched. positive i was in the right location even bottomed out on the way home ovr the top of the heap.
Found at 4:40 and was the 4th cache (2nd find) for the day.
Took the wrong approach at first and the road came to an end (though it was there on the GPS).
New approach and entered the site no probs. Did a lap round the hill before finding the best approach and drove straight up and found it seconds later. Attempted to go up and over but bottomed out on the top -- had 6 people on board (some with white knuckles) and the dovemobile needs new suspension, so had to reverse down again.
I could spend weeks exploring this region, however as mentioned before, a bit more information on the site would have been nice.
Took: Red Mustang (another one for the collection)
Left: Toy tiger

Found at 15:30 after wandering around with Mum for 20 or so minutes checking out this curious site. She opted to stay at ground level when we arrived at GZ but I thought the view was great.
Took nothing, Left Hairclip.
Thanks Pyrenees Kid for a nice walk and a great spot.

Found by Maya and Ray at 3:45PM on the 12th of April on our return from Easter in Swan Hill. An easy find once we had worked out the best approach route. One has to wonder how these heaps were constructed. Conveyor belts seem to be a good option. We took the Joe Bake and left a white vase. Thanks from The Nomads.
Found it at 3.45pm. Didn't actually drive by, but it was a great walk. Later we took the Patrol up one of the mullock heaps and got stuck right on the crest when the side steps made an enourmouse grinding sound on the gravel. Thought I had ripped it right off - but actually no damage at all. Slowley reversed with no power for a while.
Took - Torch
Left - Carabiner with compass
Now off to camp for a few drinks and dinner.
Thanks PK - this was a really great spot.

Spent a very pleasant long weekend escaping the noice of the Formula 1 in Melbourne by visiting one of the nicest regions in Victoria! The history of this area is definitely worth a bit more research as well as another visit to pick up some more of the many caches in the district.
This was a great cache, although we took the hard way up, before realising another approach would have been easier!
Using our 5cent piece, we were able to open the container and leave a plastic snake in exchange for the play clay (which came in very handy in the back seat on the way home!).

Found at 3:50pm. I think I will need to bring a can opener to my next PK cache, as I'm currently using a NZ10c piece which I have ready to swap. Someone has been doing some serious work here in the past, maybe the Chinese judging from the name.
Swapped a combo padlock for a red car.

This was my last cache for my holidays. Like my previous cache, I was happy that it was a quick find.
I took a packet of Nasturtium seeds and left an emergency poncho. It looks as though the site was busy in the past. Was the photo on the cache page taken here or somewhere else?
Thanks for the cache in an area reeking of history.

Found 12:45, a great place for lunch. Took Wet Ones and left Glasses repair kit. Thanks Pyrenees Kid.
Found at 1.35pm, A great spot and we quickly located the cache, just before some dirt bike riders arrived to demolish the peace and environment.
Would like to know some more about the area, signage was sadly lacking.
Thanks PK

By all the tracks up here at altitude it looks like people use it for 4WD practice. With the nearest tyre tracks only meters from the cache. Hope no one takes a wrong turn and SPLATS the cache.

Found cache late saturday afternoo great place for a cache. No exchange made. Thanx Darryn
Found in the company of mikita and friends, i'm not sure we came in from the intended direction but the result was the same none the less. Took water pistol (had to fight mikita for this!) and left combination lock. Also took t.b. green beetle. Didn't see any sign of the all original cacher in embi's photo.
Found by Mary & David at 1310. Now we understand the cache name. A lunar landscape indeed. Scrambled to gain altitude, but found it much easier coming down again. Lots of magpies about. Took hose clamps, left flower confetti and a koala keyring. Also left TB Green Beetle from SA to begin his Victorian adventure. Were they your Challenger's tracks up there Pyrenees Kid? Thanks for another great cache.

I thought i'd do a little research on this cache. I found this live webcam pic and if you look close enough I reckon you can see that someone is already searching for the cache. Damn I missed another first find.
