In passing I returned to have a second stab at this one, but this time I was in the company of two people that had already found it- in case I struck out again.
This cache is no longer there.

We were warned this one was hard.. but we were determined! We enlisted all the crew and a geo-uncle, but still to no avail! Had to give up after what seemed like hours. Unfortunately not somewhere we can return in a hurry as we are many many km's from home, but would love to try again one day! At least the scenery was awesome, really pretty gardens.
Hunted around for a while but didn't stumble on the cache, even with the hint. The garden was beautiful though - a very peaceful escape!
EDIT: Tried again for an hour but simply can't find the little devil. A definitive location hint would be great, cause I'm going crazy!

Hmmmmmmm...coordinate crisis? Our GZ was right in the middle of the walk way in full sun. The encrypted clue sent us about 4 metres away, spent some time looking in all the obvious nooks and crannies. Certainly must be well hidden. Any chance of a clue? Beautiful sensory spot though.
No luck! Had the mother-in-law in the car waiting. So ran out of time! I'll be back! TFTC.
And the last find for the Botanic Gardens for the day. Not many people around made it relatively easy. Thanks.
Its amazing what you can achieve with a new GPSr - it includes finding caches. Twelve months ago my old unit had me wandering around the nearby fountain, with the fountain as GZ, in a previous attempt!!!
Found in the first place I looked. Needed to be pretty stealthy today to get this one.

We were not the only ones awakening the senses today.
Had to wait for them to pass to conduct a search to find the cache.
The log is also full with my big baby hand writing, it was hard for me to squish my name on there.
Thanks for the cache embi!

Found at 1.40pm. A great park and we enjoyed the walk around. Took a while to find. I left the GPS in the car and relied on the iPhone. Probably won't do that again. I think the GPS is a bit more accurate. Luckily not many people around to view the search.
TNLN Thanks for the cache.

Think this was the prettiest location on our Ballarat invasion trip from Tasmania. So dropping in (and out) 2 x coins and 2 x TB's that traveled to it with me
what a beautiful location
Only my second visit ever to Ballarat and if I've said it once I've said it a thousand times "If it wasnt for caching I...." u know the rest
Top spot embi, thanks

Awesome hide!! Geo-family looked for a while before Geo Dad made the discovery! Sorry, could not sign the log as it was soooo cold our pen froze up. TFTC.
Finally during our visit to this area the sun came out so off we went for a few caches. You imagine the senses here after a couple of days rain and then sunshine? with very clear sinuses we were able to sniff the cache out with no problems. SL TNLN TFTC
One of the very first caches we ever done but for some reason we never logged it.
Getting a new Oregon 200 cheap lead us out to go find this one again.
Thanks Embi.

Came late so I would not be seen. I had to dodge the sprinkler, then on the way out more turned on.
I was lucky.

I use to love walking through the gardens as a Boy with my parents. Then I use to show girls my romantic side by moonlight walks through these gardens. Now I am here with GEO boy on holiday, so we had to visit here for old time sake.

unfortunately our senses were too frozen to wake up today did a quick sign in then raced back to the relative warmth of the car.

looked smelled and looked some more the cache had been pushed back a far way so on first look we didnt see it persistents and no muggle paid off with cache and smells on we were on our way
Came with Phetlern, who had already done the cache. While they wandered elsewhere we conducted the short search necessary. Great spot for a hide. We loved the huge gum tree standing guard nearby. Thanks for reminding us how good it is here. TFTC.
Turned the senses on, used the hint and had the cache in a matter of seconds while Dugcholi looked on in wonder TFTC.
A very late log for this one mainly due to misplacing our caching notepad and also a bit of caching burnout! Another Ballarat cache found late in the night with my two experienced chauffeurs Team Rubik and 2dudez (I know, I am just cutting and pasting this but it is really what happened). Found after the Anzac Day event 2009. TFTC.
Found late in the evening after the CV get together. No muggles were about on a cold, wet and windy night. TFTC
A small group of us wandered away from the crowd at the CV Event and grabbed a few caches. This was a fairly fast find with all of us enjoying the smells of nature after a very welcome drop of rain.
Thanks embi.
Thanks embi.
Look at this one in the rain yesterday but gave up, revisited today with Jezarocks and bingo we had it found at 15:05, it is starting to rain again.
Came in as a 'consultant cache locator' to help Tank47 find this one. It was in the first place that I looked at around 15:04. Though I'm sure they would still eventually have found it without me .
Mrs went for this one while Caleb & I stayed in the car.
Wasn't the thing I expected from the clue, but after expanding a litte (also with GPS playing up a little with rain) cache was found.
The huge trees were very impressive, and next time we come here we will take the time to have a picnic here.
A beautiful spot in this "miniature world."
Thanks for bringing us here!

Awaken thy senses, you could not help doing that here with the smell of rain in the air and the scent of nature around. Poetic huh, must be the red.... Anyway a quick find and we were off again. Thanks embi for bringing us here.
This was the 11th cache for our ballarat run, found at 1341hrs.
Log sheet was full,,so i added some extra paper.
Wonder what the original swaps were??

A great spot - I've been over the other side of the road many times to visit the playground with the kids but never ventured to this spot before - thanks for showing me this.
Found at 3.20pm. What a great little hidey hole. I really liked the approach with all the smells from the plants. Ta
Searching with Kiwi Explorer and TheWonderStuff and we couldn't find the elusive cache today.
Thanks for the challenge.

Caching with Konie and The Wonderstuff. We couldn't zero in on this one today.
Found this way back in February, and somehow forgot to log it. Funnily enough, it was only as I was approaching GZ that I got the deja-vu feeling. I guess it's ANOTHER sign of old age creeping up. Regardless of my ramblings, thanks Embi for a cleverly placed cache in a spot that at most times would be muggle city.
8/02/2009 15:37 Thanks for the cache, my enjoyment level was totally commensurate with the effort put into it's creation.

Great day out caching with my girlfriend. Quite a special time not just that she is actually coming out caching with me but also that we are both now residents of Ballarat, well for the next year anyway.

Found on a quick walk through the gardens with some visitors from interstate. Didn't have the GPS with us, but did recall some of the previous logs about the location. 15 minutes later and on the right side of the wall we had the cache.
Signed the log.

Found @ 11:10. Came to Ballarat a little early for the Great Victorian Bike Ride to have a look around and gather some caches while doing so. A little difficult to retrieve with a gardener working nearby. TFTC TNLNSL
Loved the big trees. Isn't it amazing that people bought seeds, seedings and cuttings etc from other countries and planted them here so long ago? The cache is desperate need of a new logbook.
Found at 1640. Had been to this one twice before, with both times being deterred by muggles or gardeners. Today, luck was a fortune, as my nephew and I were treated to a muggleless garden, and a well hidden cache. A wonderful area.
Thanks.
Thanks.
It has taken a few tries for us to get this one.. Every time (including today) our GPS insisted the cache was located many meters away from where it was. Today being no different we relied on recent logs and the new hint. Without those we would never have found this! It has been a fun hunt anyway, thanks Embi.

Found @ 1230 passing through from Portland to melbourne Airport. Nearly busted by garden maintenance muggle. Could not sign log as there was no pencil. Thanks for the cache.
Had attempted to locate this cache in January with the old hint and was grateful for the presence of LinearZZ in locating this very difficult cache. Found at 15:55. Thanks Embi.
Eclips OK had looked unsuccessfully for this cache earlier, so was glad of our company for another assault. Apparently the hint had changed but didn't appear to help, at least initially. Finally a suspicious covering piece of camouflage was noted only to result in a difficult retrieval. No wonder the container looks a bit abraded. GZ seemed to be a few meters out but that may have been due to local tree cover. No swaps. Thanx embi
Really couldn't imagine why a cache with this name would be in the Bunnings carpark. No!! No!! Don't ask! I think it was a big time senior's moment when I was entering the co-ordinates a while back. Anyway, a belated check revealed the error and resulted in a reasonably quick find the next day. Well at least Bunnings had the "treats" with a sausage sizzle.
A great little hide in a lovely environment. Many thanks.

A nice stroll to this one from a DNF just down from it.
You can see the effect of the drought even on the established old trees, it's heart breaking.
However, the cache was great!

Very scenic. I loved the walk in for this one.
The possums were providing fertilizer for the local foliage and Freddo managed to interact with it.
Is that good luck?

I have been here before. BD. Before drought. The garden and the lake was much more fun then. This time I had some a assistance. The cache was 6m west of GZ, which was the same spot as last time. At least this time I did not pull any sprinklers apart.
A nice easy find on a quick trip to Ballarat. There is some really big trees around here.

With the GPS giving me a search area exceeding what was realistic for one person to search (bloody Garmin...) I read the hint. Despite working out what the cryptic hint meant I was no better off. This was too Hard.
So I called Mr. Colorado himself and he didn't answer his phone. Not so helpful. Luckily though Mrs Embi did answer hers and had an ever so vague recollection of the cache.
With that slight hint I located the micro & logged a find, just as Mr. Colorado rang back.
GAFF5 I suppose.

Mr Emu & Son were unable to find this cache today, even after quite a hunt. A bit disappointing, but none of the possible places where we thought it could be gave us any joy. Will watch the logs and visit again.

Hello Embi,
Finally found this one, thanks for the clue. I would honestly never have found this without some help. I had been looking for this one for ages. My GPSr was pointing me to a spot opposite and around a little, about 10m from the spot. What a tricky little blighter this one was.
The log is FULL and will need to be replaced.
