Given that I have changed containers (due to the risk of fire in the area) and the location has changed 60 or so metres, I have listed a new cache at waypoint GC13P30

It should be published soon!!

03-Jun-07
Having found this one before and having helped along with others on the Geopic day to fill it with bootie, I went up to find the location and indeed check to see if it was gone.

As others have stated, it is clearly gone. My recollection is that it was a 180mm screw capped water pipe cache container about 18inches long.

I do not have the makings of such a beast, and if some one does, I would like to restock the cache and keep it alive as a recollection of the early caching times of Brisbane Cachers, as they were a very sociable lot.

If anyone can assist witht he container, I can do the rest...

Cheers

Bob

I have such a container sitting empty right here. Would be happy to donate it to such a worthy cause.

This was one of the first caches we ever found and it would be a shame to see it gone.

Maybe move it a touch so that the cache vandals don't find it again?

02-Jun-07
No owner action to logs indicating cache and cairn missing.

02-Jun-07
As with other reports I have found pieces that are now binned. No sign of log book and the hole where it lived is empty.

01-Jun-07
Found only the remnants of the cache in the surrounding bush. No log book around. the cache has definitely gone. Came straight over from Homer.

10-May-07
Decided to do the Mt Cootha caches today - I did not read the logs before going but i have to agree I think this one has gone AWOL. Sad

26-Mar-07
I'm fairly certain this cache is missing, but thanks for the spot anyway.

26-Mar-07
I'm fairly certain this cache is missing. The rock cairn has been taken apart and the whole in the ground below the rocks is empty. See photo.

09-Dec-06
found on a hot walk/jog. A rare Aussie cairn !

17-Nov-06
Found by Sunshine Toledo and Her Majesty at 4:40pm. We parked and walked straight up the hill to the cache site. It was quite a climb through the bush but it was easier on the way down as we picked up "Homer" as well today. In: white magnetic clip Out: bicycle repair kit. TFTC.

27-Oct-06

03-Mar-06
Found after a stomp through the undergrowth. There must have been an easier way! Now off to find Homer. Cheers!

24-Feb-06
enjoyed getting this one, might have been easier on the bike. This is a good way of looking around an area..

21-Jan-06
everyone likes a run/slide/walk down a nice steep hill Smile I know we did. We came at this cache from the homer cache.

A nice walk and an awesome hiding spot. We took a pirate's chest and B1. We left some glow sticks Smile

12-Jan-06
The day was starting to get on to the late afternoon but that wasn't going to stop us! Big Grin As before we found a nearby carpark and hit the cache straight on through the bush, no spider webs were going to deter us and no climb was either. On our way back down though we couldn't resist trying out the track. This would make an extreme mountain bike ride or an extremely painfull one!!! [B)]

11-Dec-05
2234 hrs Easy find and a cache full of stuff. Good little climb up the fire road.

10-Dec-05
Crikey, Australians really like to make their tracks unmissable!! I was expecting something a little less dramatic on the track front. Nice easy cache though, with a great idea for a container, very robust! The third for the day on foot from Toowoong ... was feeling like a very heat-stressed kiwi by the time made the bee-line for Homer.

16-Oct-05
One of the all too few flashes of brilliance i have had... i usually have stories about the wrong turns i made and how i made the find as difficult as possible for myself...

But not this time!!!

I was halfway down a huge hill at a nearby cache (Homer)... faced with an uphill climb straight back to the track of about 1 in 2, i instead set the GPSr to Geopic 2... as a result i walked across the slope, and even down a bit here and there, through some nice bush... Easy find and great container. TNLN 16:25

07-Oct-05
Found this one today in what was forecast to be 36 deg heat. That and the gentle slope [gasp pant puff xx(] made for an interesting walk.

Found in company with ILogan. TNLNSL

07-Sep-05
Found this one tonight after a BBQ for dinner. Took the Indooroopilly Rover Scouts with me to give them a taste of geocaching. TNLN

01-Sep-05
Awesome steep climb - sometimes it's better not being able to see the track ahead! Great idea for a cache container - chocka block full of goodies! Took photo-frame character, left dice, balloons, Energywise sticker and tattoo from the Ekka! I will get some better trades soon! Cheers, Crido

great spot, good test for parents with whinging kids in toe, view is worth it though

30-Jul-05
Found by Senior Wanderer at 12.25pm after bush bashing straight up the hill. Was shocked to find the path and will pay closer attention to previous log notes in future! Took easy way down. TNLNSL Thanks for the cache

30-Jul-05
I took my dog with me to find this one we found it only about 2 hours after the wanderers had been, i think we found it the hard way but had a great time anyway! took the crocodile keyring and left the babana in pjs thank you

13-Jul-05
A nice stroll up the wee hill....ok I'm kidding!
One way of keeping fit Smile
Cache in great condition
TNLNSL
Thanks

11-Jul-05
This cache was a great walk especially since I went throught the bush and over the unbeaten path. I had a great time doing it by myself. Thanks for a great cache

09-Jul-05
After finding Homer we thought this one would be easier. With 3 Hong Kong friends we decided that the best way was the direct way - UP - . Certainly got the lungs working again. Found the cache ok TNLN. Came down the easy way. Fourth find for the day for them.

01-Jul-05
We did this one cross country from Homer and I think we made the terrain at least a 3 and at one creek it got close to a 4. I was introducing my son to caching and he thought it was a lot more fun to go walking in the bush with a purpose. He knows this part of Brisbane really well so decided to walk up to the television stations and I went down for the car. He made great time and we got to channel 9 at the same time.

24-Jun-05
We went bush-bashing straight uphill from the car park because we couldn't locate any track. We soon realised how stupid we were. Another big climb for the day. The terrain was very dry and slippery. For the people who spent New Year's here, what a night that would have been. Great views! Took magnetic frame, left glowstick earrings.

Found it. Started off at the waypoints mentioned in the description for Homer's cache.

Cache is in very good condition. TN. Left a UTAH Mushyroom 2004 wooden disc #91 belonging to Mushyroom(aka The Geo Idiots).

The view from this spot is just wonderful and did make the journey worth it, although I didn't realise that I needed an oxygen machine with me. great cache, took a little searching. Found little Nic. Took rubic's cube, left photo frame.

Well we were half way up the hill from Homer & there was no point in returning to the bottom & coming around so we just decided to keep ploughing through the bush from there.

After several hundred metres of walking without a track I was adjusting the GPS mouse reciever I use and dropped it... it cracked and wouldn't work... oh no, not only could we not find the cache now but I wasn't even sure that we could get out of here!

After 'fiddling' for 10 minutes and holding it on the right angle it started working again & has continued to work since - phew!

We made our way up to the ridge, found a large track and made our way to the cache pretty easily.

There was a long walk back to the car ahead of us, but it was quite easy compared to how we got here!

Didnt see the hint, bushwalk from the foot from the north.
Took koala , left Glow in the Dark Dolphin. Nice Place

I found this cache whilst bushwalking around Mt Coot-tha. The walk to this cache is well worth the effort as it is well concealed and well stocked. Took a koala keyring and dropped off Little NIC TB.

First pile Drr wrong

Found this after a bush bash up the mountain. Nice spot with great view of the city.

After bush bashing directly up the hill, we found a nice track close to the cache. But since we're not one for an easy route - we went directly back down the hill.

WOW - what a hill! At least it was a well stocked cache.

If you don't like exercise - you won't like this cache.

Nice cache, found without any probs. Mental note to read logs and plan better. I got to this one via aboriginal art track! I've never been this way and thought the track wound back around but doh, it doesnt! So took the direct root from the back of the hill.. straight up and over! My legs are like steel springs!!

28-May-04
Found this cache without too much trouble.

06-Nov-03
Found @ 1:15pm. I tried to find the well cut path but couldn't, ended up parking at S27°27.949 E152°57.818 and going thru the scrub until I found the path, not far from the cache itself. Very puffed by the time I found it. I was very glad I had water with me, the trip back down was much easier Wink. TNLN - although one of Plantmans Pet Rocks did visit.
Ben.

#1 for the day
This is my 2nd attempt at this one with a new GPS and wacko it was spot on. My poor old 12CX was on the way out the last time that I came here and it had me hunting about 50m away on steep slope. Oh well! Left a puncture repair kit and took the travel bug who will appear somewhere *NEW* in the next couple of days
Thanks for the hunt
Steve

15-Aug-03
Phew. Should have read the other logs because we ended up going the direct route up the hill. We had to dodge many large spiders in their webs and the going was tough, although the dogs found it easy - wish we were as fit as them.

What a great container and firmly planted too! It is in tip-top condition as is everthing inside. It was well worth the walk because it was stuffed with some excellent goodies.

Took the soft GPS/camera case - thanks Manta, I really wanted one and was chuffed to find it.

Left mobile phone cover and bendy photo frame.

Also dropped off Nookia the travel bug from Football Forest.

Thanks for a great cache.

Found @ 1055hrs after a sustained cross-country bush bash. Parked near the end of the road so had quite a traverse across to the cache location. This will teach me for not making it to the picnic!
Swapped a soft camera case for some AA batteries. As this was the first of four planned caches today, the GPS might give up before I do. (Though not likely with the way I felt after this one!)
Thanks T & J.

Sunday 4 May 4:15pm

I parked where I thought was closest - my route choice while direct, was not the best! rather steep & lots of spiders - took the easy route home via tracksicon_smile.gif. Watched a couple of mountain bikers enjoy the descent while I was here.

Cache is nice & dry although too full to take my trade, so took nothing.

Went for this one after playing three games of soccer, so was a bit stiff in getting up the hill. My choice of footware was either soccer boots, or Nepalese climbing sandals, and I chose the latter, which turned out to be a bit dicey on the way down.

Found the cache quite quickly at around 5:30 pm, after waiting for a couple with three dogs to pass. One little dog they had was scared of me, and didn't want to go past.

Hey jfreak, I recognise the log book and pen, as the ones I supplied for the contingent Gorilla cache had it been found to be missing.

15-Mar-03
Yet another cache I have not logged. Found with Webbies-we-R on the Geopic day...

15-Mar-03
Found today during the very enjoyable Qld Geocachers picnic. Andrew went off the track and down a gully (cause our GPS is a bit dodgy) while Maryan sensibly stayed on the track, Andrew did a bit of a hill climb both ways and stumbled across the cache from the wrong direction.... was rescued by Maryan who in turn was rescured by Webbys We are Smile We left a rubic cube, toy boat, pom pom and toy treasure chest. Passed the Dohertys on the way back to the picnic site for a well earned lunch Smile

Cool
Found it at about 12:00. Just after Jade and jfreak.

Great spot for a cache. The view was lovely from the spot. The last bit of the hill was a little challenge although the walk down was great.

Tony & Jade top marks (again)

Found this one while at the picnic with Jade. Thanks goes to Tony for hiding this and organising the picnic.

We were the last group to head up to find this on the picnic day. A bit of huffing and puffing to get to it - we shouldn't leave so long between finds!
The cache was already full, so we didn't add to it, but we did sign the log.
Thanks for taking the time and energy to hide this one, Tony.
Cheers from the Dohertys
