Ocw the Bebes. Coords had us all over the place but an image in the library gave a hint of rock to look for and after spreading out eventually got the reward. Tftc
OCW PelDroedGwin Decided to do this one foot (!!) its pretty steep At GZ we could have been there for hours, so many hidey holes. Luckily PDG spotted the hint rock from the gallery after about 15 minutes. Then a much slower slip/scramble back down to the carlots of fun and beautiful 360 degrees. Tftc
WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 106 - Karratha Day 2. Another hot day and another day of hilly trails above Karratha. I ended up retracing some tracks from yesterday, as I did not do enough Multi homework before yesterdays outings. I completely failed on one Multi and ended the day with a massive hill climb a bit out of town that was just a little above my sole comfort zone. Dinner was in the van tonight and I am off to Port Hedland tomorrow, hopefully via a few coastal towns. The trail on the map was much more defined than the track in real life. It got quite pot holed towards the top. Then I was thrown a bit by the cache being just over there, around a ring in the top of the hill. My phone did not want to point at all in the right direction, so I am glad I have a GPS too. Once I got up onto the correct hillock and saw the grave, I was soon at the cache. Getting down the track was no less nervous than getting up, but at least gravity is on your side. Thanks for the cache Ian&Sue - Team Pathfinder48796.6 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 2012 Compass Rose Kalahari A#247**Albida**
Found with e.gregory1 on a trip from Adelaide to north-western Western Australia. We spent four nights in the north-west, staying at De Grey River near Port Hedland, Point Samson, Dampier and SW of Karratha to target a selection of caches while in the general area. Took the track up the hill late in the day to enjoy the spectacular views, very nice to claim another old 2003 cache. Thanks for the cache Ian&Sue - Team Pathfinder!
Found on a trip to Western Australia from Adelaide with FeatherWaite. We stayed at Dampier last night and cached around Karratha, did some shopping, restocked and refuelled before heading to Miaree Pool the set up camp for the night. This was our last cache for the day. It was late in the afternoon, so quickly drove up the track to the top, took in the expansive views, made a quick find and continued on our way. The cache and contents were in good order. Thanks Ian&Sue - Team Pathfinder for the cache.
Had a layover up this way so decided to make the most of it and grab a few caches around Karratha and Hedland. Thanks for the cache.
Another oldie ticked off the list during this trip toKarratha, gotta love Geocaching. Previous visits here we have bypassed this as the car wasnt capable to climb the hill, well nothing better than the shoe lace express today ticking off some golden oldies! Parked up 300mt away and was back at the car in less time than a TV show including finding and adding names to the list. Oh and a few stops on the way up .. to get photos not to catch my breath! TFTH TFTC have a FP
After camped at the river, I decided to have a go at this on the way to karratha. I tried to drive up the left side, no luck, then the right side, no luck so I decided to walk up. Probably would need some lockers on my 4x4 to get here. Lovely views up here! Had to resort to look at the picture to find the cache. Thanks
We had use of a 4WD so why not make use of it. No real issue getting up and then realised the cache was still 120m away. Back in the car and loop around the top to park about 10m from GZ. A bit if looking to turn up this one. Nice views. We completed the signing duties and had fun driving down the hill. TFTC.
Travelling north with richlink, staying a few days in Karratha to do some chores and a spot of caching. The caches on this mountain were a challenge, but very happy to have found them. Thanks Team : Pathfinder.
Travelling north with iluvtrekking and stopping in Karratha a few days to have cars serviced, get a new windscreen for the Patrol and of course grab some caches. This cache has been on our 'to do list' for some time so very pleased to do it with our caching mates. Headed out at 7am and after finding 'Weathered Weather', we headed to this cache. Very steep incline to get to the top and we were able to get within a few mts. Thanks Team Pathfinder
What great spot, I had a lot of fun driving to the top (nearly didn't make it) and managed to park within 20m of the cache.
It took a little time to find as there were many places for it to be.
I found the hint was no longer accurate as the dead thing must have been shifted during a cyclone, so after finding the cache, I shifted the dead thing back to where the hint made more sense.
Thanks for bringing me here, and RIP Brian

Well, that was a bit of a comedy of errors We drove up the steep incline to the top, but were too focused on the multi and the other cache at the old cars, that we thought we could access them from the top. We continued walking down the track towards the hills and came to a dead end. But wait….. we could see the old car and the track, so off we went, all the while forgetting to get the cache which was a mere 100 metres away. Down we went, found the right track in, and realised we were supposed to be back at the top. Instead of driving back up the hill, geo hubby decided to work his way back up the hill through the spinefex and eventually located the cache and worked his way back down. Made it much, much more difficult than it was meant to be, but a is a . Great views, and thankfully a nice cool breeze today. Fav point added for the cache and a laugh for our stupidity
Catching up on some late logs, now that I have time while travelling.
We are on the road travelling up through central Australia and down the coast of W.A. This is one of the caches we grabbed along the way.
Saw this unloved cache (for past 2 years) and decided to take on the challenge of walking up to admire the view. Amazed at what people do with their 4WD’s when seeing the streaded tyres and exhaust pipe pieces along the side of the track. L
Arrived at GZ, to find that someone had actually signed the logbook last week.. It was an amazing view from up on top, so very worth it.
Thanks for placing this cache and doing the maintenance needed, so we can enjoy finding it.

Day 10 of our 3 week break & holidaying in Karratha for the next few days, this cache was our main target for the day... After turning off the highway we stopped at the bottom to air down & Master 10 thought he would run half way up with the go-pro to get some footage In his eagerness, he even managed to run alongside in the spinifex with thongs to complete the footage to the top Oh, to be that young & he wasn't even puffing... For those reading, remember he is 10 & the hill is steeper than it looks
Of course we were not there yet & Master 10 decided he was ready to hop in the car for the rest of the journey... The wind blowing across the hill was nearly blowing him away haha [:o)]. Managed to pull up at GZ & took in the view before I spotted this elusive cache.
Thanks for bringing us up here Team : Pathfinder [^] We loved this one for the adventure of getting here & for the awesome view point, cheers.

Incredible. We replaced this cache one year ago, today while in Karratha did a check and no one has logged a find during this time. Still there waiting
17years since placing this cache and still being found. Replaced cache ready for the next seventeen
Didn’t read the other logs before finding this one on my evening exercise hike. It needs a new container, log book etc.
Packed my dacks driving up this one but made it (You don't really notice how steep it is until your halfway up it)!! Found the cache which is in a bad way and enjoyed the view!
I must say, caching to me is not about a random container placed just anywhere, it's about the journey or location so this one gets my last available favourite point and as I live remotely and don't get to cache a lot, these points are hard to earn, therefore award!!
Photos attached showing the view as approaching the bottom and top of the hill in the car, view from the cache and a photo of the poor damaged cache.
Hopefully the next person heading this way has a container on hand to swap it out with and perhaps even a new log book!
Thanks for this one @Team Pathfinder.

This has to be the fav find of the whole 10 day trip! Great views, no people, and exercise to get there! Thanks for placing and maintaining!!!
Day 7 of my trip from Perth, Exmouth to port Samson to camp the night ... I Thanks to all the COs for placing caches along my journey ......
the container is broken will need to be replaced as I didn't have one with me .

pug002 found it 26/8/2017 on our trip to the Pilbara geocaching. Mountain goat I should say geo hubby went up to the spectacular view to find this one. TFTC Team Pathfinder
The next geocacher please can you take a fruit container and log book. It needs replacing. Unfortunately the mountain goat went up with only a gps and pen and 500 metres there and back and to go back again was too much for him. He wasn't prepared to try out his 4x4 driving.

What an awesome cache!! Best views of the area! Love it! TFTC TNLN signed the log. Was going to give the trail a shot with the old troopy but it was pretty hot and slippery so walked it instead. Definitely got the blood flowing..
We tried several times in the car but couldn't make it up by the time I got to GZ and found the cache macmister was still walking up the hill took key ring left $4:00 Tftc team:pathfinder
The alarm clock went off at 6:00am as it has every day on me Karratha Kaching Katchup.
The same old Sonny & Cher song ... "I got you babe" aroused me from me slumber [)]
Then the local Karratha DJ's came on with their same olde banter ...
"Sure is cold out there today folks,
Make sure you rug up warm"
Yep !! The Pilbara's version of Ground Hog Day [:o]
I shuffled out of bed, and didn't trip over the campfire log that I had left there last night
Cooked the same olde brekky of bacon and eggs and shrooms
Packed up camp and at precisely 8:10 am turned the ignition key of the geomobile and headed off to me next cache find
Same olde "Centurion" branded road train passed by,,
same olde "SupaGas" plant passed by, with the tanker hissing LNG in a big white cloud as it was being loaded
Same olde stream of caravans coming the other way !! [)]
Would "Punxsutawney Pil- bara" see his shadow this morning ??
I haven't seen my shadow for a few days !!
Hey !! It is s'posed to be the dry season !!
Not raining everyday
As I headed for towne,
something was different ...
... I did not make it to the supermarket for me chat with the nice lady at the 12 items or less checkout !! [:o]
Instead I detoured along a bumpy track and parked the geomobile at the bottom of a rather intimidating 4WD track up a hill.
Off I trotted
On foot of course ....
... and at the top of the rather steep and treacherous climb, found that I was not at GZ [:o]
How can that be ?? [:o]
I trotted off across the rough terrain to reach the proper GZ
So this is how Ian&Sue, Dip GC, CM, get people out of their cars [^]
Struggling across the rocks I reached GZ for a not so quick cache find
Why are there so many damn rocks around here !! [:o]
Deja-vu again !!
The cache appeared just as the sun momentarily peeked out from a gap in the overcast [:o]
I guess it saw its shadow
So the legend of "Pil-bara" is true [^]
I scribbled in the logbook and happily trotted off down the rocks only to discover there was a 4WD carpark just 20 metres down the other side of the rocks [:o]

Fun drive up! Kids enjoyed hunting through the rocks and loved the loot in the cache! TFTC!
AWESOME!! Loved the views, loved the 4WDing up. Thank you replaced busted cache with a plastic fruit container.
I replaced the busted up cache with a 1l plastic fruit tub. Having read the cache description I ducked into woollies before leaving town and scoffed the apricots on the way- this cache may still be a little damp- could next finder give it a wipe inside if it is? Original logbooks and contents remain and topped up with a few extra bits of swag
Wasn't game to drive up so walked instead....definitely earned dessert tonite!!!
Amazing view - should have stayed for sunset.

After a day of work in karratha, I decided to make the trek up to this cache.
The first trip I don't hire a 4WD. BUMMER. Ah well, nice afternoon for a walk.
Much huffing and puffing later, I was at the top and found the prize. I think with original log book as well
Log signed, photos taken, and now the trek down.
I think I was more worried coming down as it's pretty hard to find secure footing.

So glad I have a 4x4 that walk Would kill me but best view around ktown! Highly recommended!!
Wow what a climb. I don't have a 4wd, but i do have 2WL (2 walking legs)... and i needed them! I climbed the slog around here in Karratha and this is not as steep but longer in length. Definitely worth the exercise. Key learning for me here.... follow the path ......it may not look like it heads in the direction you want but it will lead you to where you need to be ! Left Ball, Vitruvian man pendant, Geo caching Australia path-tag and breast cancer walk wristband...as this cache was looking a little empty and for the effort you needed some reward. I got reward with the smiley duplo i took. TFTC and the lesson !
This one has been on the to do list for so long.
Quick drive in with 4x4, nice view of the whole area around.
Thanks for bringing us here.

Number 30 for the Milroy Mob! Yay! Decided to walk up the hill for a bit of exercise....should have driven!! Great views though and a nice climb just the same......T4TC Team Pathfinder!!
Forgot to log that we dropped off Geocoin Lord of the caches.....Thought with the passing winter traffic heading north, it might catch a lift to Broome!
Whew! Huge climb up the hill very hard climbing up and harder down. But well worth it! Amazing view found the Goecasha took out Geo coin OC5PDE and put in Lego. here's a hint: Smaller people (will have a hader time getting there but) will find it easier than those taller.
Phew! Tough one in the heat. From Melbourne I'm not used to this! Shouldn't have worn shorts. Just about fell over many times, climbed the wrong hill first but got there in the end. Actually tripped over the cache. As I was climbing the hill, I thought "I bet the clue for this cache is 'Under a red rock'" and it kind of is! Took nothing, dropped off Geoelement Geocoin. A great place to contemplate the vast emptiness of northern WA. Thanks for the cache.
Good cashe. All in good order, but next visitor could bring a pencil sharpener. Both pencils blunt. Thanks.
Easy find although the missus was a little nervous on the trip up the hill. Kids took the Koala and left a bottle opener key ring.
Find took a while as we ran out of batteries on the GPS, enjoyed the view though scaried the bee-jee-bee's out of the mrs driving up and down the hill

I wish I had brought a tourch with me for this one. Ended up finding cache just after sunet (spectacular views !)and then submbled down the hill in the dark. TFTC Brocky 5
Our very first cache and we found it! Kids loved deciphering the clue. Car and camper trailer found the hill a bit scary so we walked it. Thanks for the new obsession, great fun and a whole lot better than iPods!
Our first cache hunt for the day, just as the sun was rising, involved a 500m very prickly walk and a hill climb on small and moving rocks. We eventually got to GZ and, thankfully, we made a quick find. The views from this location were well worth the trials of the walk. TFTC Ian&Sue - Team Pathfinders
Third cache for the afternoon, the climb by 4x4 was a cracker - second gear low range no problem' just take it steady. When you get to the top brace yourself for a fantastic view.
Found the cache no problems.
Took a coles bag load of rubbish home with me after finding cache, would appreciate the next cacher doing the same as this is a beautiful spot.

Found at 3.10pm GAFF3 - we would never have found it if it wasn't for the clue. We were searching 5 metres away on the other side of the crest and there were just too many little nooks and crannies to check.
That was quite a steep climb and with the load we were carrying we wondered if the Patrol would be able to get up there. However a nice steady throttle and suddenly we were at the top looking across the plains and out to sea. We could also see a bit of Karratha!
Thanks Team : Pathfinder

Great cache and view. Drop Chinese coin and note. Cache condition good! Thanks Team Pathfinder for bring me here!
doing this at night without a 4x4 maybe wasn't the best idea but wow you can see a LOT of start from up there
once i re-oriented myself it was an easy find, after 30 minutes of futilely searching in the wrong area

Matthew & Ethan Brierley and Louis van der Waal found this, our very first geocache and our most hairy 4WD yet. Great views as the name suggests. Took a while to find but that was more because I hadn't quite worked out the finer details of how to use the iPhone. Great fun, think we are hooked.
Good little work out after work (for the 4wd). Found the cache ok, no inventory here but the view and sunset definitely worth the trip. Thanks for the cache.
Apparently it is not there anymore. On 8/28/10 I looked high and low for it but it is nowhere to be found. Needs maintenance.
Just a bit of advise...Don't take a soft roader up the hill, the last rock's a killer! Fantastic views but had to have the car fixed before we could leave Karratha. Our own fault, we know!! Just a bit of exhaust damage, nothing major. Took TB. SL Thanks for the Cache.
Fantastic views. Didnt have a chance to do this on our way in the other day but made a quick trip back out to do this after lunch and after the rain left us.
Left the light TB

The journey up in the 4WD was a bit stressful for one of our party (and it was far too hot to walk), but we made it in the end! Found the cache without much trouble thanks to the hint and the photos. Beautiful views!

You'll need a fantastic camera to capture the enormity of this view. Had to wait for the hoon muggles to leave. Always amusing to be distrubed at the GZ when in the middle of nowhere. You are never really alone except in a city. SL TNLN
We decided to use foot power to get us up the hill. Didn't take too long to get to the top and after a bit of a search we found the nice new container (thanks Sue). Great views and a most enjoyable cache. TNLN. Then we carefully made our way down the hill. Thanks Team : Pathfinder
We will be in the Pilbara during July & August doing cache repairs replacements and restocks so will fix up then.
The TB has been missing for years now - owner has been notified on several occasions.

Safe to say... This will be the last find, container is smashed to pieces. Bring a holder if you come here, nothing left, no tb
Unfortunately this one has been muggled. However, the muggle seems to have had an attack of consciensce, and has replaced the log book and pencil exactly where it should be, along with a note including his phone number - maybe you can get a new container out of him.
Anyway, using the hint I found the log book exactly where it should be, and signed it. I had a bit of a look around to see if I could find the TB, but I didn't have any luck. Maybe if you bring a metal detector? I'm sure it's here somewhere...
Enjoyed the walk up the hill anyway, thanks for the cache.

Found it on a mild but very windy Karratha Day, the track was quite steep and slippery. Took the Indian Travel Bug and my boys grabbed the green car toy. Left a stubby cooler, for when the weather warms up. Great view as stated. Couldnt see the other travel bug which was ment to be there....
parked on the roadside and set off through the spiefex to intersect with the 4WD track. Last part of the track was quite steep and had to watch my step descending. Breeze was brisk at the cache site but views were worth it.

I think this track was just about the limit of our 4wd capabilities. Geowife flately refuses to go up another hill. The track is becoming quite challenging and we slipped backwards on several occassions.Nevertheless, we made the summit and enjoyed the spectacular views. Great spot.

Don't have a 4WD so parked my car on the side of the main road and walked to the top. Not such a difficult walk, just have to be careful on the way down as it is quite easy to slip.
The top has the most amazing views, the best cache spot so far. The cache was fairly easy to find, did turn up quite a few rocks though.
Will definitely take the girlfriend there if she ever visits the north.

Drove my front wheel drive car up track and parked it just where it gets real steep. Walked to area and hunted for around half hour with no luck. Had to go back to car to get clue and walk up hill again. Very hot.

And again, we dicided to leave our Landcruiser downhill and walk up to GZ. It might be possible to drive this "way" but it seemed much easier to walk. Finally a quick and easy Cache. Did we sayd, that we climbed up at highnoon at a very hot day? Anyway, the views are well worth it.

This one proved to be a bit more harder than we originally thought. Punched the cordinates into the GPS which put it 300 metres off the road so we drove to the top of the hill, only to find out it was closer to the road. So we drove down again, and then checked the cordinates and found our mistake so up the hill we went again. Finally found the cache and LCC.
Nice little piece of 4wd'ing. Its a little steeper than it looks. Magnificent 360 degree views of the area.

Enola wouldn't let me drive up the hill, so I parked at the bottom with 320 metres to go - the first 200 metres was about 75 metres up - certainly got the heart pumping. Great view from the top. LCC, T finders card, L tissues. Dropped Dr Hibbert tb for a visit before grabbing him again to continue his travels.

Found it One of my favourite places in Karratha, great place to watch the sun go down.
We ended up walking most of the way on this one, so we were worn out and didn't want to spend much time searching. We should have looked at the picture before searching as was suggested. We also didn't want to poke around the rocks too much for fear of snakes or other dangerous critters. Will try again next time.
After hiking up the hill & getting to within 30 metres the GPS went mad, so I had no idea where to go.
Headed out late afternoon after hearing another couple had trouble finding it, parked the car at the main road and decided to walk, i found the cache within minutes of being up there. Fantastic walk and view's thanks for the great afternoon out taking the kids and wife to find another in the morning.T stubby cooler L Little Pirate man
P.s The Tag is still within the cache, if it is still there in Aug when i head to PNG i will take it with me

Cache still there!!! You may need to look harder - I must have dropped the pencil when I was doing cache maintanence a week ago.
Bugger after putting the trusty Landi through its paces & finding a suitable parking at the sumit we walked the rest only to find a lone pencil (presumably from the cache) , & alas no cache ????
Have you checked on this one recently Ian & Sue ?

We did a little maintanence on this cache - replaced damaged box, restocked and added "The Hard Way" TB
Allways be wanted to drive up there for a look at least I had a reason now.
It will be great in winter for a few cold ones and watch the sun set.
Easy drive for the cruiser. the lid on the box is U.S but the bag is still OK. The cards are a nice touch, ther is only one left.
T- CC key ring
L- Stubby holder - may need it in winter
