We will release the location so that other teams can use it. It will be nice to let a few of the newer teams have some of the have the chance to use the best locations. We still reserve the right to reuse the location if no one takes it.....so get out there and make a new cache.

20-Sep-10
I have been thinking of options for the cache and will see if I can get downt here and move the cache location 60m or so....Perhaps put in a marker post too.
we are also curious to see how much the land had changed down there.
If there are any teams interested in a walk on the coming long weekend (September 2010) then send us a message and we could do a walk there.

[xx(] Concur with others, I believe this cache to be dead. Although archived I was heading out here anyway so thought I would have a look. Still new to this lark, but my Terex H GPS placed the location at a point halfway between the dunes & the sea (20 mtrs +/- from dunes) not a shrub in sight pure sand & washed up sea grass. Interesting how much erosion has taken place in such a short period!

13-Sep-09
By the sound of you attempt to find Sand Sand Sand it may well be gone.
Its not near the water but its possible the storms have eroded the sand point even more.
It was just behond the first row of dunes (small hill about 1m high and inside the scrubby bush). Its hard to find as the sand blows over and around so keep changing shape. We have a few photos on the site..see if you can figure out from them is you were close or not.
The other possibility is check your datum on your GPS..maybe its been changed by someone and that will put you out by some distance.
We will see what we can do about getting back down there and seeing what it needs.
We will archive it for the moment.....

Gone, gone, gone? The gang had no luck with this one. Our second fail of the day. The coords put us right at the waters edge of the point. There looks to have been quite a bit of erosion during the rough weather we've been having. Was this close to the shoreline?
Anyway the five of us decided to spread out and search the surrounding scrub. There was no evidence of rope around a bush but plenty of muggle evidence in the form of empty beer cans and a couple of bongs! Could this have been muggled, washed away or are we just blind today? We dad a good walk along the beach though and watched the Nanchangs dogfighting over the sound so all was not lost Smile
many thanks. "SpoonZ n teh Gang"

10-May-09
This was a decent walk along the beach. It will take over 30 minutes to walk the 2.6km round trip but I think it is worth it. Found the cache quite easily. We took nothing and signed the log. We dropped of Urch's Travel Slug and we left a balloon, a coin and our calling card. TFTH and TFTC.

1.2kM from the car park and 1.2kM back, makes for a nice walk on the sand. Checked out the boats moored near the beach as I passed by.

Found a rather unsavory note from some muggles who had found the cache. It appears they were the same muggles who visited the cache in July 2005. I removed the offending pages from the log books, yes they wrote in both books.

Thanks for the enjoyable walk and cache.

24-Jan-09
Maybe the muggles found the cache and wrote a note but at least they didnt trash the cache. That must be a first. Thanks for removing the offending pages.

Great walk, but take a water bottle as the weather heats up as its rather a long walk through the dunes.
TNLNSL TFTH loved it!

Another DNF of about 18 months ago bites the dust! Smile
Set off on the 3km round trip trek at high tide on a very blustery and drizzly afternoon, with the waves crashing in, making for most dramatic scenery. There was only about 1m of beach for most of the way, but had to walk the dunes for the last 500m when there was no beach left.
Found this time with no problems - perhaps a few more caches under the belt made the difference. Cache in very good order. TNLN. Thanks very much for the exercise in a great spot, Lyn Pat and Nathan.

We have edited the listing after heading down to replace the container which was UV'd out of order.
We have moved it slighlty but it is now even closer to the coodinates so that should be even better for the newer more accurate GPS units.
This is a muggle area so do make sure you rehide it well. Thanks to Mal from Team "3 Blind eyes" for sitting in the passenger seat and directing me to our own cache.
Did we walk or did we drive to it ?.....Vroom Vroom.....you can guess.
We collected the TB "Yoda" and refreshed the contents of the cache while there

13-Sep-07
Pat and I drove down here today for cache maintenance and to replace the container. It's a great spot down here, and I enjoyed the drive along the beach in Pats 4WD. The cache was well hidden but found it eventually at 1pm. Container has had it and definitely needed replacing. Contents were all very moist as well. Pat replenished the cache and moved it a couple of metres to make it easier to find. Lovely day for caching today, and a group of muggle fishermen nearby were enjoying the day as well. TN-LN-SL. Thanks for the cache Lyn Pat and Nathan.

Best cache ever found a way to 4wd there but dont get caught by the rangers

29-Jun-07
This was an interesting one as I had not been down long point before and as we had the 4x4 we used it as needed, found the Cache with a bit of effort well hidden from passers by but seek and you shall find... Looked over it about 5 times before finding it.

Had a lovely long walk down the beach, and then a hunt round for half hour or more for the cache - no bush with coloured scrap on it or any sign of the cache. Thanks for the exercise, though, and a visit to an area not seen before.

02-Oct-06
Sounds like we may have an excuse to go for a drive on the beach if it still open to 4WDs otherwise its a nice walk and maintenance. We will try to do it soon as possible.

19-Aug-06
We had a good look around but didn't have any luck. If you scout around a bit you'll find an access path. It's a bit of a highway out there.

16-Aug-06
This is the entrance we used to get to the beach. Maybe its been closed off but even if it has the walk along the beach is a pleasure.

Hmm,

That's right at the end of Port Kennedy Drive isn't it. I went down there but there didn't look like there was anyway in. All gated off and big rocks that my Prado wouldn't like. Oh well i'll hoof it in next time i am up that way.

Thanks

Was in the area for some business today and took a bit of a detour to look at this cache. Am I assuming that you can no longer drive along the beach to this cache anymore and I could not find and access to the beach other than the walk trails. Normally set off for the walk but did not have the time this time around. If anyone can let me know that woudl be great.

Thanks Team Prado - WA 1968

08-Aug-06
The 4WD vehicles that were on the beach the day I visited came from somewhere near the carpark at Bridport Point. At least they came out onto Port Kennedy Drive from there after driving up the beach. (SSM page 640 A4)

10-Jun-06
Enjoyed the walk along the beach until nearly being run over by a quad. He left the area shortly after I found the cache and proved his lack of a brain by trying to drive his landcruiser the same way he was driving the quad but forgot to put it in 4WD and wondered why he was not getting anywhere and starting to bog the vehicle.

After he had gone it was quite pleasant except when the mozies found me as I was leaving. Walking back a couple of pelicans kept me company.

Made no swaps. Thanks for the cache.

16-Apr-06
Found in company with Scruffy&Mrs friends from NSW.We had a nice walk along the beach, passing a couple of pied oyster catchers on the way. It took a bit of finding but we got it OK. TN L 1 cent.

Had Grandsons and thier dad along today. Parked as far inland as you can get, putting us just over 1 klick away. Walked bush in and beach out. Saw several Dolphins feeding along the shoreline on the way out. Nice walk, thank you.
Took - batman holograph and hamburgalar.
Left - Two draw and peel plastic etch pads.

Thanks again, Auzrus

Took a great walk along the beach after school with GeoLee to find this cache. Still safe in its hiding spot.
Took: Golf Ball
Left: Koala keyring

Thanks for encouraging us to take this walk to a wonderful spot so close to home, Lyn, Pat and Nathan

Wasnt planning on caching today but when the youngest in the family has a friend over that is a little full on I thought the best way to wear them out is to do a cache and what better one to slow them down then SAND SAND SAND.

The walk was great and I intend on coming back and using the BBQ facilities one day. And to think it is only 4 km from my front door. Placed our calling card in there as well
TNLNSL

Thanks for the walk

Found the cache at 6.10pm. It was lovely walk along the beach. Saw some pelicans and flying away look so beautiful. No fishermen there just me, because of the weather? Who know eh... Took - nothing. Left - calling card and sign. Thanks to Lyn Pat and Nathan for the cache.

18-Sep-05
We decided to do the walk and admire the coastline. The Indian Ocean is such a beautiful blue!
Cache was found easily - co-ords were spot on. Some muggles had beaten us to it (by a couple of months) and had signed the log book and left some rather nasty items in the cache which we removed and buried! (ugh!)The cache was undisturbed otherwise, thank goodness.
Thanks for the hunt, and for the exercise.
Cheers from the Dohertys

14-Jul-05
Always wanted to get out to this point from seeing it on a map. There was no wind, plenty of swell with the surface glassy. Why am i geocaching instead of surfing?? Finally found it by noticing the trampled vegetation. (Tetragonia decumbens - an exotic from Sth Afr)
Went home, grabbed wetsuit, surfboard....
Thanks - kids loved it.

04-Jun-05
found after a great walk along the beach. I was all alone apart from a rather large lizard. The cahe did take a while to find though as the bush had been run over by a four wheel drive. The cache was still intact however.

TNLN

cheers

Nice walk from the carpark to the point. We only passed a couple of fishermen the whole way there and back.
Found the cache OK, took Keyring left Golf Ball.
Thanks for showing us this area,
The Coastway Cruisers.

26-Feb-05
We returned to the cache site and checked it out. Its still there snuggly in its shrub. The orange rope was still tied to the plant (but covered in fine sand so it was hard to see). We have now also added a piece of yellow electrical wire as a marker. The cache is located very central in the clump of saltbush. Coordinates matched our previous visits so we assume they are accurate. Happy hunting, lets hope everyone can find it now.

16-Jan-05
Drove down to GZ but after we'd looked all around We atill couldn't find the cache. We didn't have the spoiler pics.............now that we've had a look at them I think perhaps it was buried under the sand again. We'll just have to go back again! Smile)
Thanks for the hunt.

16-Jan-05
The cache isnt Buried but it is well hidden in one of the clumps of Shrub. Just keep on looking it there some place. The scrub will grow and the sand will shift a bit but generaly you would have been very close to the cache. If you miss a second time we will go out and check it out just incase.

Last time when I was here at the wrong time in the wrong weather (very very windy day and sand in your eyes) however enjoyed walking exercise from the car park. This time, in the beautiful sunny cloudless sky, here we came back and drove up to last 0.40km and walked the rest. There were a lot of 4wding activities. Found it in a good condition. T: note book and card. L: key ring and card. Stayed for a while and enjoyed the ocean and beach. Thanks for great location and the hunt, LPN

18-Jul-04
We're bushwalkers first, caches are a bonus, so we walked along the beach. Beautiful place. T: Spinning Top L: Scissors, tape measure, Cohunu voucher, postcard, dolphin pen. Thanx, great place to visit.

Spent some time in this area years ago when the fishermens shack's were still there. Drove as far as the beach and parked. There had been a lot of traffic on the beach and the wheel tracks where a bit deep for the Subaru Outback so we walked the rest. The cache was easy to find, coord's good. Left a calling card, notebook and some stickers. Took a card. Thanks LPN for another good cache.

Hi,

Had a pleasant drive along the beach to get to this one. Wasn't really walking weather, but we managed to find it in-between rain sessions.

Signed log, took wallet, left Roo keyring. If the wallet's old owners are missing ther list of phone numbers, drop me a note,

Thanks for a nice end of day excursion!

TSC.

We had some friends along with us this time. Kate, Ash, Nick and Pete (Their Dad.) The kids all loved their dayout "Treasure Hunting". No Zoe the Geodog this time, she stayed at home. Also went out looking for GCHWKR and found it which is nearby.

We took out of the box a a superman toy, for Nick, a packet of tissues, for Kate and a big goofy for Luke. We put in a sewing kit, tazo tops and a lego piece

We were in a hurry, so we drove up to within 30 mtrs of the cache (bragging about my 4wd I am). We didn't get any speeding fines, so we missed out on the second cache badly. What a beautiful spot. We both love the views and of course the possibility of some beach fishing - we'll be back. T: $2 coin, L: Sam the muppet eagle. Thanks to Lyn, Pat and Nathan for a great cache site.

1. I could understand speeding if you where trying for the First Finders Certificate that are an absolute collectors item in Lyn Pat and Nathan caches but as we already have the one from this cache you could not have been rushing for that!!

2. I didnt think they placed speed cameras at midnight - dont tell me you where actually up and about in the daylight hours cache hunting??? Thats a tad easy for you isnt it. Wink

Whoops - now I will never be welcome back in Perth again!!!!

Only joking - bad luck about the fine - maybe we can all pass around the hat - any takers????

HANG ON A MINUTE I withdraw that last offer of the pass around. Upon taking a look at the ticket I notice that you managed to claim another find??? Fancy paying $100 to gain another log entry.

I must say you havent done bad there - how did you manage to come across a virtual for those that get fines whilst heading for caches?????

24-Feb-04
I find that it would be strange if I did not reply here and continue to fill up this caches entries. Smile

1) No I was not rushing for that, next time there is one I will have to... The reason for speeding is detailed in my FLITS log. That's one expensive geocache. Sad

2) It's incredible, but daylight caches are becoming quite common for me now! Smile Not that I think nighttime still isn't the best time for it. (... try it! It's totally different to day caching and more fun!) Wink

I came across the virtual thanks to the Geocaching Australia forums (in this thread). This sounds like a big plug. Maybe it is.. so go to Geocaching Australia, all you Australian Geocachers (or those who happen to read this now or in the future..)!!

24-Feb-04
We do feel for your 1 point loss. The $100 is a sting in the tail. We thought you were a poor student with no spare (cash)(cache).... for fines. The virtual speeding fine cache is one for the lead footed great idea isnt it ...here is the URL again for others to look at. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=6381c3e9-6536-4da3-a8b3-0f58d3fcf6ec

23-Feb-04
Check out the speeding fine I got on my way to this cache... I hope you're happy, Lyn Pat and Nat!!! hehe Wink

11-Feb-04
Found it. Smile
Took the 2.6km return trek, thank you... I think maybe it's time to get a 4WD..? Oh well, the walk did me good!
Cache was found easily and is in good condition.
Had the place to myself the whole time I was there too, no geomuggles eyeing me suspiciously as I searched the bushes, just the seagulls.

03-Feb-04
There were quite a few different tracks leading into the area. But the sign said no vehicles, so I walked the last 300 metres. Found it no problems, left Supermen, and took Padlock

yay! finally found this sucessfully. I almost got bogged in the process as the sand is very very soft in this area (and Im an experienced 4WDer too) ... took Kanga TB, left calling card and something else (duh! alzheimers) ... the co-ordinates are out about 13 metres * that's why I couldn't find it the first time * plus there were not so many flies this time too * grins * .. the photo helped a lot though - photo is spot on. .. thanks, The Trekkers

Now where is that piece of Humble Pie we have for just such occasions. Myself (Pat)and a work mate took a special trip all the way to Becher point (or long point if you prefer) 100km just to check on the cache. Yep its still there and in good condition. We tied a new piece of string to the plant above to make it easier to find. it was well hidden by a thin layer of sand that had blown onto the lid so you could have missed it because of this. In the photo I have posted the cache is directly behind the guy in the picture. While here I left the kanga travel bug that we had planned to take overseas with us..maybe he will go next time but for now he will hop around Australia a bit longer.
The coodinates seemed to be about 10 meters out but the cache is in the only sizeable shrub that you can see in the region...seems logical to look in there. Try again and see if you can find it this time but try to do it soon before someone takes the string again.

19-Aug-03
FRUSTRATION!! Around 12.15pm-ish tried looking for this one over some time, hounded of MILLIONS (and Im not exaggerating) of flies, everytime I fossicked under the bushes... even MORE came out... my car was COATED with flies... never seen so many flies before in my life.. and they're small and fast little buggers too!

Gave up in the end, as there was no coloured string in sight either. Coming back to where the sand meets the bitumen road, I bumped into another 4Wdriver, fishing enthusiast and explained to him what I was up to. He explained that recently they've had some seriously fierce storms and our GeoCache could have been swept away by the rough seas or buried deep under.

So maybe the OWNER of this Cache may want to do a maintenance check ... or .. I could have to eat humble pie and admit I was way off. Could the owner please advise me if it's still exists and then I'll go again to search for it ( maybe 2nd time lucky eh? ) ... thanks.. The Trekkers.

29-May-03
Took a nice long stroll along the beach on this my first ever night time cache hunt. A very interesting experience I must say. I only had a small torch and took a while to find the cache. I was worried that the location may have been obliterated during the last bout of storms a couple of weeks ago. There isn't much beach left between the cache and the sea. I think I would have enjoyed the walk and search during the day much better to appreciate the beach and bush scenery.
Took the little red truck and left the jeep from Jervoise Treasure Trove.
Thanks for the adventure.

Great Views from a great spot. Hundreds of Fisher-persons, Dozens of Four Wheel Drives and a friendly pod of Dolphins can't be wrong! Very tricky trying not to be seen replacing the Cache by lot's of curious Fisher-people wondering what this strange Gang of people were up to! Should have been called Seaweed, Seaweed, Seaweed! or Smelly, Smelly, Smelly! Georgy Gecko (Travel Bug) followed us home. Says he wants to see a Quokka.

We found it first!! The trusty Pathfinder took us right up to it.

Left our Georgy Geko travel bug to continue his journey
