The cache has now gone. It is pointless replacing it, as I know from previous experience that the d*ckheads who removed it will only do the same again. This cache is now archived.
Thanks to all geocachers who visited.

We found the cavity OK and we even found the icecream lid from the old cache container but I think the rest of the cache has gone bye byes. Twisted

What a wonderful location! It's about 2.4km from my best friend's house. So I picked him up and went hunting. I would never have even known it was there if I hadn't been geocaching.
Smoked Ciggarette.
Left St. John's Survival Kit.

The cache's location is only a few km from me, but it's one of those parks one drives past all the time and takes for granted. The cache was an excuse to stop and discover this stretch of woodland.

Was easy to find, and well hidden from the casual passer by. Didn't take anything.

I found this cache in between hunting a dashpoint in Lilydale, and one in Sydenham, a separation of 51km. This cache was a wonderful diversion. It is a great location and fairly private so that you can go about your business in peace. The ice cream container does not keep the contents dry. I had an O-ring sealed container of about the same size in the car so I swapped it over to help with this problem. Unfortunately I was in a hurry so I dried the contents as best I could but they were still a bit damp. Lucky for little Carabat 2 that he is no longer here, but relaxing near Adelaide, or has he moved on?

Took the beautiful little bookmark for my wifes quilting books.
Left a Stphen King audio book Quitters Inc (and a new container)

Thanks Desert Dingo, this is a classic cache and is now 18 months old but going strong.

Carabat 2 enjoyed the trip to Adelaide, and met some new friends there. Now waiting at Lightly Marino for the next lift. Enjoying the lovely sea view and the night light for added comfort and security. Also now equipped with a brand new travel diary.

Found by Mary & David at 1345 on a rainy ANZAC afternoon. When we were close to the mark, looked up and went visual. The cache location was then not hard to find and was in good condition. Carabat 2 looked a bit miserable in all the rain, so we decided he might like a trip interstate next weekend, heading NW. Left an Avon bookmark and a small pottery pig.

Thanks to Desert Dingo.

Found by Kevin & Meredith at 12.30pm
An obvious location in a surprisingly quiet spot for being in the middle of the suburbs.
Took a tie pin and left a Ned Kelly Pin

An easy cache

We arrived at the cache without too much difficulty at about 4.15pm - we must have just missed Muzza. We did meet a local lady walking her large black dog (Mac was most impressed) and after her initial amazement at what we were doing in her backyard, showed much interest and gave us the full historical background of the site and the local area. Very interesting. The cache is in a wonderful location in suburban Melbourne - once you are in it you could believe that you are in a pristine Australian bush setting. Very peaceful, secluded, idyllic.
Being a Kelly, I took the Ned Kelly pin and left a small aromatic cigar (still wrapped in cellophane). Someone may enjoy it with a glass of port one day.
Ian and Patrizia Kelly (and Dashing Dog Mac).

Found this one today at 4:00 after having found the You Yangs Library Stash. I approached from the West and the tree containing the cache always looked like being the one. This would be a good first cache for anyone in Melbourne.

I didn't have anything to swap so I just logged my visit and left.

A nice, easy cache on a beautiful autumn day, and for the first time ever, the etrex displayed millimetre accuracy. Took an eye cover thingy, and left Carabat 2, a small teddy we picked up at ROYAL PARK STASH (GC42D2), he is travelling north, so give him a lift (or perhaps even an aeroplane flight) if you can. (Please post a note here to let us know where he went)

Replaced the container so contents are protected from water entry now. All items are still in good condition, and the little bear is waiting for a lift with someone heading North. (PS. The stashnote is at the front of the logbook)

Found the general area in the Melways and then had a pleasant half km stroll through the connecting park land to the cache. The cache sticks out like dog's what's it's (or more correctly Dingo's what's it's) once you get to the area and know what you're looking for. Took the Chameleon, and left a tie clip, decorated with a minature Tsuba (hand guard for Samurai sword). It's almost time for a new cache container as the lid on the current one is crack, and the log was a tad moist after the recent rains.

Passed some trams on the way to this one, which was a new experience for us. Nice hiding spot

Logging all my old finds....

First cache ever. Downloaded all Victorian waypoints into GPS just before a trip to Melbourne. Once I got there I fired up the Etrex to find that I was only 6Km away from this one. Drave a bit then parked the car, walked 300 meters (Parked a little too far away)to where the Etrex said the cache should have been. After searching for about 15 minutes I was ready to leave, but was asked by Dana my partner to check in the clearly visible tree. There it was, in good condition and so easy to find.
Left $2 and took a business card.

The moral of the story is, Take these pages when you go out looking as it could save a heap of time

Found this the other night before getting noodles. Wasa pleasant walk and a good hiding spot. We swapped a packet of coloured chalk for a tweetie pen. Andrew & Bronwyn. BMB

Found this one today pretty easily. There were quite a few people in the park. My GPS lead me to within about 30 metres, and reading the clues it was easy. I just looked for the tree where I would hide it Smile. Nice spot to hide it in a busy urban location - No-one would find it unless they were specifically looking for it. I took nothing and left a tweety pencil sharpener, to continue the theme and because I thought the cache contents here needed a bit of revitalizing.

Found this one on the way back to Ballarat. Number 5 for the day. Great spot to hide it. We found it easily but had more trouble trying to get it back without anyone seeing. We think the lady in the two story over the road thinks there is illicit dealings going on. Didnt want to get locked up so took nothing, left nothing. Wink

Found on Saturday arvo. The cache was easy to find once in the area. The container is still in good condition though there is not much inside.
But the important thing, the logbook, is still there!
I took the black knight and left an AUSLIG map reading guide (bent to fit the container). Thanks DD ... Alex

Nice park that provided a much needed break from the office during lunch. Cache is in good nick but the Coke can is a bit leaky. Took nothing left nothing.

28-Jul-01
Last Melbourne cache hunt on this trip. Was pretty easy to find given the clues. Being short it was a little harder to climb up and remove the cache. The overused place used for one foot is getting rather slippery - luckily a few knots provided good gripping points Smile Cool location!

This was my first cache. Very easy to find - just
walked straight up to it. Took punching bug pen
and replaced with a black knight (chess piece).

27-Jul-01
Just got back from Australia, so I can now log the find. I only had the lat and long numbers in my GPS, so this was a bit of a challenge. I didn't think I would have time to do any geocaching on my trip, so I hadn't even read the cache description. Even so, we found it. My friend was searching through all the weeds and bushes, but I went for the tree on a hunch. I'm glad we went looking for it, we got a chance to see some bits of non-tourist Melbourne. Nice area. -Rin

Found by hunter1nz. Visiting family . So we went for a look. Found it.Dried out the container & threw out some lollies that were making a sticky mess. Nice cache. Took the matchbox car & left 2 N.Z. phonecards. I'm going to put a cache in Melbourne while I'm here. Hope you guys find it soon. Cheers for now.

I found this one between the end of the conference that I was attending in Melbourne and catching the plane back to Adelaide. After reading Kgramp's logged visit that catching a train on the Broadmeadows line and hopping off at Glenbervie puts you within 600m of the cache proved quite helpful. Especially as it was raining when I got off the train. I only had to run 600m, scribble in the log book, take a few photos and run back to the train station to get out of the rain before getting too wet.
(I was in such a rush to stay as dry as possible I think I forgot to finish what I was writting in the the logbook)

Finally John and Tony got around to heading across Melbourne to find this one. Typically wet Saturday afternoon in Melbourne, real football weather. Took a diskette mailer and left a matchbox car.

Found this one easily, saw the tree from about 50m away. It is well described, contents were a bit soggy. Signed the book but took nothing.

12-Feb-01
Great spot...
Switched the disk case for a padlock. Cache was in great condition - glad I didn't bring anything big though - there's not much space.

11-Feb-01
Found by George, Melissa and Paul. (Melbourne's 1st Stash)6:30pm, didn't have problems locating the stash. Great hiding spot.
Took nothing and left nothing.

04-Feb-01
Found by Ray and Maya on Sunday, in the rain.
Typical of Melbourne, today's weather was totally different to that of yesterday when we visited the two caches on the Mornington Peninsula. (Devil Bend and 2001 Odessey)
This cache was easy to find, but a little more difficult to reach.
We took the sunscreen and left a toy helicopter and a pack of eye shades.
Found some larger items loose in the tree cavity.

Hi, I was staying overnight in Melbourne from Adelaide and decided to try and find your cache.
Not having a map of Melbourne with which I could plot the GPs position and only having access to public transport I used your clue of being within 1km of a tram or train.
My hotel was in St Kilda so got a heading and distance from the GPS. Then bought a public transport map which seem to be to scale and plotted the bearing. Actually did it too cruedly and headed off on the Upfield train line. Got off at Royal Park and the bearing here indicated I was on the wrong train line. So went back to Nth Melbourne and took the Broadmeadows line.
I still had to guess what station to get off. Tried Glenbervie and bingo, only 600m away.
Found the cache easily (19:10) though didn't like puting my hand into a place I couldn't see.
Just left a a note in the log, didn't leave or take anything.

29-Dec-00
Found by Geoff, Sophie & Frazer, after about a 1 1/2 hour drive, we found it straight away, removed the cdr discs and left a tube of sunscreen and a can of aerogard.

Got a new GPS today and visited this stash on my way home. The stash is in a good location and was easy to find. This was the 1st stash I have visited.

27-Dec-00
Cache visited on 27 Dec 2000 at approx 1.30pm. Very interesting location - not sure I would have found it without the clues and without my tall son Tim who accompanied me.
