Sad to see this one go. It was a great fun to find when I visited some time back and dropped of my TB (Bearke N. Wills).
Thanks for the hunt (back July '05).

Military service has prevented us from returning often enough to maintain this cache. As others have posted a difficult or impossible find due to construction we decided to archive it.
Why hasn't anyone posted a needs archived note? I've just read this - and it looks like it should be.
As I noted below, it is a difficult find. I suspect it is still there, so an SBA log may not be appropriate.
I have previously found this cache and I can confirm this cache has gone due to track construction in the immediate area. This cache needs to be archived
Did not have the new information with us so we were up on the road along from the foot bridge. wew did look down to the pipe bridge but it was such a mess and steep we did not venture that way
Unfortunately we also didn't find the cache with the new hints. There were too many trees cut and even though the weather was nice, the slope was too dangereous to climb on.
Didn't manage to find this one, or the easiest access to the pipline for a start either.Good for family bonding going up the wrong track, sure glad we didn't meet any mountain bikes coming the other way. Tried using the hints. Not sure how close to the bridge it was supposed to be, didn't see any disturbance within 4-5m of the bridge so cache may still be there, GPS had us further up the bank a bit. We'll be back as soon as we get a chance.
Since maintenance seems to be lacking on this one, I'll repost my hints since the coordinates are a bit off.
Try these direction and see how it goes.
"The coordinates had us on the forestry road up the hill from the construction. The cache itself is half way down the slope directly towards the pipeline bridge.
Go down the slope to the bottom and locate the pipeline bridge. Walk up a steep path straight up from the bridge and find the cache half way up and to the right of the path."

Visiting from Finland. Found the pipeline, yes, but after endangering my life several times on the slopes of the gully, I gave up. There's a quite new walking bridge nearby, and strip of new trail, which suggests that the cache might be permanently buried under the debris from building the bridge and the trail.
We are visitors from Holland and enjoy our stay in NZ. Even more due to the geocaching spots. This one we couldn't find. They build a new road on the spot. To many people around. No sign of tracks or pipeline. Or didn't we find the right spot?
A nice early morning walk to find this one. A bit steep in the cache location but still OK. Thanks for the hunt.
Did the walk from our hotel without a map and only the GPSr got ourselves onto the walking area and only 75feet from the cache, but were unable to find a route across the gully... we could even see the pipeline... we wondered if the track had been made impassible by bad weather? Or was it our lack of a map? sorry but we will have to give this one up as a FTF!
Couldn't get a very strong signal here and gave up eventually. If it's where I think it was, that's a little on the steep side and the terrain rating should definitely be upped a little.
This cache was attempted during my three week end-of-2005 visit to New Zealand and Australia. Had a great time checking out this awesome country plus meeting a few rellies which are new on the scene. Time ran out on me but hope to come back here soon…

Interesting to read the logs of this cache. It is indeed hard to find and very tricky to get to, but a very exciting adventure with wonderful history. I don't recommend having a child along although mine is now 8 and very surefooted. Nearly turned back several times. Recommend the upgrade to the terrain as suggested by others. TNLN. TFTC. Linleye.
After spending aeveral wonderful days in Queenstown, I finally had a chance to walk over to the cache. While I explored most of the area, I never found the cache and didn't make it to the bridge that I could glimpse from here and there. Great spot for a cache, wish I would have had a bit more time to look more thoroughly.
Limited time to explore for this cache, tried to find from both above and below but with the tree cover had difficulty pin pointing the area, didn't realise it wasn't on the main track and ran out of light and time to find it. Enjoyed the terrain and it was worth a visit.

Well, we arrived from the top side and got a little disoriented to start with. We found the bridge that Tony (kiwitonita) took a photo of, but we needed to be somewhat lower.
After descending the tracks in the area, we finally found the goat track leading to the bridge Nemesis pictured - The terrain rating should definitely be upgraded - 3.5-4 at least.
Anyway, a bit of a scout around unearthed a very wet cache container - I ended up bagging the old log book in an attempt to stop it making the other cache items wet. If someone else is in the area for a longer stay, they may wish to take the old book home for a dry out, and a return it later.
All in all, a very enjoyable trek, and a pleasurable find!
TNLN, Thanks,
Mike.

It was dark when we arrived, and the location seemed very different to what I was expecting, and we were tired and hungry, so a 10 minute hunt was all I could muster. I will be back!
First one in what was going to be (but didn't turn out to be) a day of geo caching ... we did not find this one despite looking for 45 minutes ... GPS was all over place due to valley? or trees? Also ground was very wet and slippery ... I think terrain needs to be upgraded a star (g/f thinks 5 stars for both would be appropriate) - unless we went wrong way of getting to the location of course
Went with a friend and had an unsuccessful exploratatory mission into this area the other night, which I wouldn't recommend. Even in the daytime this is challenging terrain.
On our last day in NZ I set out in the early morning to find this cache. Cold cold cold.
Eventually found it after a little hunting around in the 'obvious' places.
Just a note to the next team heading out to find this cache: can you please take some shopping bags and double bag this one? It seems a little prone to getting damp. I've dropped a couple of extra magic seal bags in the container and some spare pens.

I've run this track previously, started from the bottom and ran up One Mile Creek track with GPS to the pipeline bridge, used hint from here and saw the likely hiding spot, yes it certainly was GZ, + Tip Me Up And Pour Me Out TB, - laser pointer
Spent a wee bit of time searching for this one. The GPS was useless under the trees, and the hint wasn't much better. After wandering around looking for a while, I went with intuition based on what I knew, crossed the almost dangerously slippery bridge and made my way uphill and found the cache. It really needs a new container with a proper seal as the moisture is getting in way too easily. No exchange made. Cheers Gav [511]
[Yeee Haaaaaaaaaa! Found the little sucker! Ok, to be accurate, junior member of Team GSVNoFixedAbode found it - well done Sarah! As previously reported, water had got in and soaked the logbook. I've put a replacement logbook in a baggie in there along with a Geocaching Brochure in lieu of a "What's this?" type note.]Extra hint: Go _straight_ up from the pipeline bridge. On the right. If you get to the gravel road then you've gone about 8m too far.[We ended up walking out through the new development and back round to the car - the long way. Thanks for a real scramble of a cache!
Edit: Best access is to drive along the Esplanade to S45 02.243 E 168 38.879 then turn right at the Roundabout and park in the carpark.
Cheers,
G.

I have heard from one of the cache owners, half the team is overseas working and they are temporarily unable to maintain this cache. It will remain disabled until they are in a position to perform maintenance.
As I was the last to find, I'll add some information.
The coordinates had us on the forestry road up the hill from the construction. The cache itself is half way down the slope directly towards the pipeline bridge.
Go down the slope to the bottom and locate the pipeline bridge. Walk up a steep path straight up from the bridge and find the cache half way up and to the right of the path.
Looks like the owner has moved to the USA. Is there someone local who could take it over? If it were me, I'd move it near to the bridge to make the find easier.

As three months has passed since my earlier note, I now consider this cache abandoned and unlikely to still be there. Subsequently I'm archiving it.
If the owner of the cache would like it unarchived, please contact me at da_snoop at geocachingadmin dot com, please do not reply to the e-mail version of this log on your cache page as I won't receive the reply.
Any local cacher able to confirm the caches presence and willing to adopt it at this point in time is welcome to unless the owner advises otherwise.
Thanks, Neill.

Have to agree with the previous posters -- we found the spot for the coordinates, but couldn't find the cache, and the hint didn't help. We walked down from the gondola rather than up from the road, and had a few wrong turns but enjoyed the trail. Crossed the creek over the pipeline bridge, but then couldn't find the pipeline again near the coordinates. Looking for the cache was pretty frustrating.
I've temporarily disabled this cache as it appears the owner is no longer actively participating in geocaching.
If any other cacher who has already found this cache is in a position to confirm it's fate and advise it, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks, Neill [email protected]

Another failure on this one. I read all the logs before we left and we seemed to be in the right place but no go. We came up from the bottome, found the brigde ,and spent 45 min combing a rather steep hillside looking under roots but to no avail. We have to come back and have another go at this one without Daniel as he wasn't too comfortable clinging to the hillside. Nice walk anyway.
Cheers

Approached the coords from two different directions. One (which was probably the most likely direction) was through a building site that was technically no admittance. Looks like heavy slips, development and fallen trees may have seriously disturbed this cache. It was certainly *very* hard to get to Even so, the hints suggested I was in the right place but no luck with the find.
According to log entries in the 'Time to Cache' logbook, others have been recently frustrated with this one as well. A maintenance trip might be in order and perhaps a relocation? I have a couple of photos that I'll email through in case I'm just completely useless...

First went with just the coords, which put me on the forestry road. No luck.
Got the clues and found it after a bit of searching. The cache was around 20m from what my GPS said. The trail does not look like one from the forestry road. There are two other trails within 10m which look much more used.
Cache contents are all wet including the logbook.
Left a Canada keychain. TFTH

Changed co-ordinates from original of S 45° 2.131 E 168° 38.468 to the HLD provided co-ordinates of S 45° 2.146 E 168° 38.560
The photo by Nemesis of "Pipeline Bridge" is VERY WARM
Note that the cache coords have been altered to the correct datum since the first troubles in finding this one.
Use the new coords (refer to my log below) and ignore any comments about 100m offsets.
Good Hunting!

In an attempt to clean up the last few within 100km of my home in Te Anau I was disapponted not to get this one - especially after HLD'd very necessary clarifications. Searched and searched along the only bit of track that fitted all the descriptions but to no avail. Will send a pic to the owners & HLD to see if we were in the right area.
In a last minute attempt before catching the flight home, The Dwarf headed into the bush in search of the missing cache.
Cache coordinates are about 110m out, so had to rely on description and my hairy little memory (Guess who forgot his sheets!)
There is a lot of new development going on nearby, but won't affect cache as it is well clear.
Released Cookie Monster who was wafer-thin and will fatten him up on some Northland cookies.

I started at the bottom up the One Mile Creek track after passing through a really grotty mountain bike park. All was going well until the my GPSR lead me to the left off from main track, along a mostly disused section of track. I then crossed over a pipeline bridge (see photos). I was thinking that I must be on the right track, but then the steep faint track on the other side of the bridge lead me to a really steep forestry road (see photos). The cache appeared to be in the dense forest (privately owned?) up an even steeper part of hillside that concealed several disused vehicle tracks. I was beginning to wonder if this was the right place, but I saw some disturbances on the ground that may have indicated a human presence where I would not have normally expected to see any. I searched the hillside for about 30 minutes and I also decoded the hint, but it didn't help. On my way back down to the creek I took a branch of the (virtually nonexistant) track that led through a landslide near the ravine, a big mistake. The slip was hollow and I ended up tangled in bush lawyer an slowly slipping toward the edge of the ravine while I struggled to climb the nonexistant footholds. After about 15 minuted of this I decided it would be easier to slide down further as there was a small ledge of rock that would just allow me to escape. By now I was exausted, it sort of reminded me of some of my caches. Anyway, it is possible that the wrong map datum was used for the location of the cache as the cache description did not really fit the route that I had to take to get to the published location. But, it may be that I'm simply useless at finding caches. Cheers, Donovan.
This is the first cache that Team Meem has placed. Hope you enjoy. Please take extra care to ensure that this cache perpetuates itself, as we will probably only be able to visit this cache once a year at most. Hope you enjoy.
