Logs
We read a few logs in preparation to find easy access to this cache, and really there was no bush bashing required, someone had also opened up the last couple metres. We parked at an intersection on the trail and walked the last hundred metres, all prepared for the Lantana with our machetes and also mozzie spray. TFTC
On our day out at Mount Tamborine we de used to find some caches in the area. This one was a bit of a walk. Please note there are heaps of March flies so make sure you spray before heading off. TFTc.
** Next person, please bring a new Sistema container to replace cache container! **Dropped boys at QCCC on Tamborine for a youth camp and then headed to Canungra with John4068. I had searched Gold Coast hinterland for old caches previously so I knew about his one. The plan was to spend some kid free time together so when John4068 suggested we drive down via Canungra for something different rather than going to the Gold Coast, I agreed. The comments about the lantana concerned me a bit so I wore jeans and a long sleeve shirt. My lantana experience didnt end up being that bad. But Id brought garden shears and a pruning saw with me - just in case! I hadnt read far enough back in the previous logs to know about the adjusted coordinates so I ambled around, checking the bases of a few trees before reading logs and heading to the different coordinates. I noted/ saw evidence that some others had indeed done some pruning. Thank you! I ended up getting out my shears and snipping some lantana away - more just for fun, than anything! I wonder if some people bashed their way through 100+ metres of lantana etc to access the cache? At the intersection, I kept walking ahead onto the badly washed out 4WD tracks and doubled back to access the cache. Apparently there are some waypoints in previous logs that I could also have taken advantage of (but didnt). Cache is in bad shape with a big hole in the top of the container. Once the cache was signed I wanted to find the entrance to the tunnel (had just found the cache near the entrance on the other side). Couldnt see it from where I was and wasnt sure how to locate it. Clicked on the other cache, Laheys Tunnel and headed roughly in that direction. At the cache site, that Laheys tunnel cache was 200+ metres away but it was thick scrub and lantana, from what I could see. So I went back to the path (it is such a maze of 4WD tracks) and tried to find a route to the entrance. But the path I chose soon took me steeply uphill, a different way to how I first accessed the cache. There was definitely more lantana that way. I should have given this more thought as I walked - because the tunnel entrance would be down in the valley! Up the top would, of course, be more of a drop off. But couldnt figure it out from the satellite map and John4068 wasnt keen for me to spend more time exploring.
Visiting South East Queensland for a week from Port Macquarie. Today we ventured out towards Tamborine Mountain before finishing the afternoon around the Southport area. After a chilly morning, the afternoon warmth was very welcome and made for a rather pleasant day of caching. Came preloaded with the corrected coords, definitely a must. Agree with others that the terrain could be a little higher. Thanks for the cache
Working for a stint nearby and taking the chance on this glorious day in a beautiful part of the world to grab some nearby caches. This one took a bit of finding and I was very grateful for the corrected coordinates - all the scratches from the lantana would not have been worth it otherwise. Only Gav - never the same without Manda. TFTC
Thanks to those before us and their gardening skills we finally found it. Use the coordinates suggested!
Out and about on this beautiful Monday with karen rinora. We toured around, and of course found some smilies along the way. Thanks for adding to our great day! Well that was quite an adventure for two grannies. We had some difficulty deciding on the best line of approach, but managed to get there eventually. Im not sure what the area was like when this cache was placed, but its sure not a 1.5T now. Thanks for the fun!
Heckofahike to GZ, with fivegk, but the end result was worth it. TFTC, and Happy Caching!!
Out this morning to collect a few local government area specific caches to close out a challenge cache Ive been working on for sometime. After finding a safe place to park the car I quickly made my way to ground zero where it was not too long before i had the geological point of interest in my sights.Answers collated and sent to the cache owner and Now off to the next adventure. Fun trying to find a park on sundays.A big thanks to the cache owner for making this cache available to be found by fellow cachers.
Parked the vehicle up the top of the 4wd driving dirt track. Walk down to my the 4wd driving track intersection past the old boat and continue in on the dirt road and then proceeded a short walk up the water wash out track to gz. Original co Ordinates were about 15 meters out and reviewed previous logs and found Davidwazza had an updated coordinate. Used this coordinate and found the gz easily. Glad I got a pair of pruners in my tools of the trade as they came in handy to clear a couple of branches. Logsheet signed, completed with mackay_geocaching, check our our waypoints. Heavy lantanya at gz and this helped. Did Not see tunnel unfortunately. On a caching holiday from Mackay. In the search of old caches and ones to fill DT grid spaces. Found TFTC SL Thanks for placing this cache for our enjoyment.
Out on the caching trail again with alphag_25. Going for some old caches today and some others local to those. Decent walk through reasonably rough bush after gaining access along the 4WD tracks. Definitely not T1.5. 4WD track off main track S28 01.374 E153 10.437. Turn off into lantana area S28 01.415 E153 10.398. Corrected GZ S28 01.423 E153 10.389. Thanks Davidwazza for the initial update. Didnt spy the tunnel today due to intense lantana invasion
Tftc Chris and Leon, BL set off this morning before it got too hot to tackle this hide.Approached from higher up the track and bush bashed with machete to arrived at GZ found the cache and then realised that he had left the log signing gadget behind.Followed a 4wd track back to the car that was fairly well defined and not much Lantana, moved the car down the 4wd track to with 130m of the cache for an easy return to the hide to complete the formalities. This is a much easier cache to find if you follow the 4wd track. Added a new log in a ziplock bag.Left a pathtag.Always love getting these oldies.Co ords out about 10m
Re-visit for me with surefoot24. We were dropped at the top of the hill and walked down visiting this one and the other two caches in this section. Strongly disagree with the terrain rating, should be a T3 in my opinion. TFTC
Dont believe either the difficulty or terrain rating of this. I would say D3 T4. The 4x4 track down has been severely eroded and not even 4x4s can use it now and very steep. Lantana chokes any tracks on the side and certainly makes it difficult to cross the hillside on either side of the main track. Thank goodness I took my walking pole which helped me safely make my way to GZ and the bottom of the track. Gee it felt good when we made the find and made it safely down the hill.
My latest health kick is in full swing, so I was keen for a long walk to clear the cobwebs. No better place for it than Lamington National Park. After a nice morning walking the Box Forest circuit, I headed back down the hill and decided to collect a few caches around Canungra that have long been on my list. This oldie was the real target I the area, but I stopped to collect the other nearby caches on the way. Getting to this was a challenge. I opted to approach from eh east on the 4wd tracks. Eventually I was forced to bash through the lantana to the final, hidden right beside a large iron bark tree (yeah that is a spoiler). After, I ventured through the tunnel, avoiding the very noisy bats and emerged at the western end, where I found the tunnel was closed! Bit late ! I found the various corrected coordinates in the logs more accurate than the posted coordinates. All in good order here. Nice to grab this oldieTFTC Pete#7,457
Finally found it, after slicing myself on lantana. Hubby was smart and found the easier way after I read the co-ordinates were out. They are by roughly 8-10 meters. No idea how people can drive down here but one obviously lost a WHEEL really close by GZ.
Pushed through scrub and Lantana to find this one. The co-ordinates are about 10 or so metres off and the contents of the cache are all wet. TFTC.

It was the very last day of holidays for both Cosmonaut97 and me, so we decided a day of play was in order before heading back to work. A couple of plans were hatched then we chose one. The one we chose was to hunt out some of the older caches far over the Southside.
Parking the car, we wandered on down only to realise we weren’t getting any closer to the target. So back up towards the car we headed then we found the fire trail, which we began our journey on before heading off on the wallaby track down towards the tunnel then along through all the lantana until we arrived near GZ. A bit of log reading and we soon spied the tree mentioned at the coordinates provided by davidwazza.
Cache still findable and log was able to be signed but could definitely use both items replaced. Only wish I’d done some log reading beforehand and come prepared.
Thanks for the cache Chris&Leon. And thanks for the company down to this one even though you already had it Cosmonaut97 - sorry about all those lantana scratches!!

This was not an easy find at all.
Kept looking for trails heading the right way, and kept finding them, but they were getting more and more obscure and overgrown.
Finally found myself within 2m of GZ but nothing was tickling my geosenses so I started looking around for a likely spot. Sure enough, up another even more obscure and overgrown path I spotted something that might do the trick.
The log was reasonably dry, but in very poor condition. Signed and returned to its spot but I'm sure it would love a little TLC.
Thanks for the cache.

Alyce and I decided to head down to O’Reillys for the day to do some exploring and to grab a few caches there and along the way. I’ve never been there before and it’s been on my must do list for some time.
Wow! This took us a few attempts to find a suitable path to take us to GZ, but we got there in the end. We ended up heading towards the Earthcache and took a trail near there.
After an eventful walk avoiding all the obstacles we encountered we were within 20 metres of GZ. Before we got any further we read a few logs to help us narrow down where the cache could be. We guessed the coords were out given its age and sure enough they were. I spotted a promising spot from where we were standing and went over to investigate and sure enough the cache was there. Unfortunately a fair bit of water has made its way into the container and submerged the log at some point so it’s rather wet. We managed to pop our name on a dryish page and replaced everything back the way we found it.
Another Q100 knocked off the list, you beauty!
Thanks for bringing us here.

Early exit from the city today on our way to Binna Burra for a walk tomorrow. & I saw this oldie & neither of us had this one so a quick trip into the scrub was called for. Find it we did and a
Muggle65 and l found this one but it definitely needs a new container and a new log book. As the COs have not been online since 2009, perhaps the next finder could go armed with a replacement. GZ gets very wet so needs something decent.
Tracks all overgrown with lantana as fourbys can no longer traverse due to being washed out. Overshot into the worst of it for GZ found cache a good 15m from there to the left track.
Today, I joined GurTheWanderer and karicka with a planned Lamington National Park hike around Ships Stern circuit. We commenced the hike from Binna Burra via the Bellbird track, which then connected into the main circuit trail, and returned via Tullawallal circuit link. We ended up hiking approximately 24 km with the short detours to Ballunjui Falls. Following our hike, I slowly returned to Brisbane, stopping in Beechmont, Witheren, and Canungra to pick up a few geocaches, and the tramway history was quite interesting.
This had been a target cache whilst I was in the area given its age; A nice oldie 04/2003 hidden cache, and one of Queensland's 100 oldest caches at that!
However, I wasn't too impressed with this cache, as it took me ages to find it, and there was just so much lantana around! Quite a few logs didn't even mention about the inaccurate coordinates, and I had to read quite a bit further down about its inaccuracy and tree hint. In the end, I had the cache about 15 m away, with my coordinates reading S 28° 01.423' E 153° 10.389'. As previously mentioned, the tree to where the cache is hidden is a significant/substantial tree that splits its trunk halfway up. I was quite cranky with all the lantana around trudging through too. At least the cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks Chris & Leon for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.
P.s. there did appear to be some significant 4WD tracks around here. Credit to anyone who can manage the drive to / nearby to GZ!

The family came up to the Brisbane/Gold Coast for a full week. Geowife hunted down some caches she knew I would like....and some random ones added in for fun.
So, a light sprinkling of oldies and virtuals were had...find 2 a day is certainly a far sight from my regular caching trips were its 50-100.

This cache was on the list today because it’s an oldie so it was our first stop. Followed the 4wd track down and it quickly turned into more than a 1.5 terrain! We pushed on and soon got within 20m, then it was time to head into the bush. Before we got in too deep JDavs read some previous logs and thanks to them we instantly saw the target tree and headed towards it. Cache was find half buried, but log was still ok and our names are now in it! That’s one way to start the day! Tftc!
What a cache to (inadvertently) make my 600th find on! I had originally looked for this one in 2013, but was unable to find a suitable way down to GZ in the limited time I had in the area. Today I was in a vehicle which was a bit more suitable to the terrain. Once I was further down I was able to start my approach towards GZ. There were a few people nearby who were attempting to drive up the tracks here, something I certainly wouldn't have been game to try. There wasn't the greatest signal here, so I was relying mostly on clues from recent logs. There was one which stood out, and once spotting the tree in question, I was able to locate the cache easily enough.
Very happy to have avenged a seven year old DNF, and to find this historic cache.

Nice old cache!! Happy to have made the effort to walk up the tracks to log the find. Enjoyable day for a Bush walk. Found a bit further up but hints helped. Thankyou.
I found your cache with my Dad, Oddiewan and most of the time, Semik. I am way behind on logging so learned how to use templates so I can catch up. Sorry this is not a detailed log, but I will do better with my logging now that I have the ability to log caches on a mobile phone. Thanks for the cache Chris&Leon
Wow. This one took longer than expected. Think we came the hard way. The tunnel is closed to the public now.

Caching with my main squeeze, Oddiewan and the youngest of our team, BitternA4. A really neat spot caching has brought us to. We couldn’t pass up a chance at a QLD 100 but this is no longer a 1.5 Terrain. See our photos.
Thanks for the fun, Chris&Leon

Ahh well, this was one of 30+ caches over a three day epic caching adventure. This adventure featured some of my favourite caching people: Prime, ruzzelz, slow puncture, and the Herbz. We were planning to hike for 3 days / 2 nights from O'Rielly's, but a storm changed that plan. Somehow, the weekend went better than we could have planned anyway
The weekend adventure ended up including Toolona Circuit and Echo Point, Canungra, Mt Tamborine, Beechmont, views of Mt Warning, and a number of other amazing places. What an amazing corner of the world.
This was a great little cache and was easily found. Ran across a man who was completely bogged and required some friends with a bigger motor to extract him! Feels awesome to nab one of Queensland's oldest 100 geocaches. Fabulous history here. Checked out the oldest logs and was amazed by some of the names.
TFTC and TB visit.

I don’t know if I took the easy or hard way in... all I know is my way, there was lots and lots of lantana... geocaching would be so much simpler without lantana...
Replaced the snap lock bag and added some silica to help with the damp...
I did spy the end of the tunnel though... left Kenya Tb to carry on... tftc...

Followed compass to cache. Went through bush. Found cache. The spotted motor bike track out..much easyir way out..
Followed three people, each with GPS. Found cache but it was metres away from GPS coordinates. Thank you so much for the hint re tree and car tyre. Please look for track which is only a couple of metres from tree - otherwise you'll go via bush which is very hard work!! TFTC
Decided to take the direct route on this one. 300m through lantana seems to take alot longer then you would think. Haha. Great fun though. Took the 4wd track back to the car.
Easy find once i had good coordinates from a previous log.
Cache is in pretty good condition considering its location.
Dropped some swag.

On our way home from 3 lovely nights at O’Reillys Rainforest Retreat - one of our favourite places. Certainly different bush bashing here than what we did at O’Reillys!!! Lots more scratches now Found thanks to the hint from the previous cache. Thanks Chris and Leon for the cache.
Oh my gosh! We Bush-bashed through the lantana for half an hour or more before Mr STW suddenly called, "there it is!". The small rock under a big, dark-coloured tree looked right as per the clues given before, and sure enough, there it was! The GPS was little help for this cache, giving 1m readings then 25m readings, one after the other.
The tree (a clue for you) is at least 700mm diameter at the base, though it splits into two higher up. We got so tyred of looking under every tree, we've left a clue for future hunters.

Spent most of the day up on Mount Tamborine, came down on this side for the scenic drive home.
Took the hard way in to this cache and then the path on the way back, felt fitting given that this is an oldie.
Thank you for this cache

On a day trip to find caches in this area, located the nearby ones then followed some loose uphill trails to the gz largely avoiding the more vicious vegetation. Thanks for this historic cache Chris and Leon.
TFTC smile 570 out and about with Brislions and miss Millie geo dog a lot cooler today found 21 all up today a couple of oldies a few traditional and a large letterbox Thank you for placing this cache for our enjoyment
Out today with my Geocaching’s buddy Grannysmith1947 again. Our target again was old caches had a few on the list today.
At least it was not as hot as yesterday. As usually we can’t go pass other caches in front us to.
Found 21 caches today. A mixed of Traditional, Letterbox and Earthcache. Of the 21 caches were 2 old ones.
Yippee another old cache.

Our second target cache of the day that presented quite an interesting hike into GZ followed by some rather overgrown bush to beat through! I got wrapped up in a wait-a-while so came off much worse than TeamARF. Luckily he used the previous logs to hone in on a better position and locate the cache before I bled to death!! Still a fab oldie to have finally secured! TFTC
This was the last targeted cache for the day and it literally broke the camels back. I don't usually provide corrected coords, but in the interest of reducing the amount of DNA being extracted by the lantana and wait-a-whiles from the poor saps that venture too far into the bush, my GPS had the cache at 28 01.421 153 10.383.
That said, there were many scratches and blood letting while looking in in-correct spots. I did recall reading about a rock and when I got the correct angle of the dangle right, I did spot a rock that indeed held an old cache. Glad to collect this one for the Qld oldest tally. Thanks for maintaining this oldie.

Found with my family while on holidays. Day 7.
We were all dressed and ready for wet and wild, but they don’t open till 10. So we left early and made a bit of a detour out here for a new region and another old cache. Family stayed in the car while I ran down and searched. Finally reading some logs. Seeing a pic of a rock I knew I was not quite in the right place. Expanding my search I found the cache further uphill then I was looking. Got a bit scratched by the plants. Container wet, but I still can write in it easy enough.
Thanks for keeping this cache going so long!!

While we were up this way, we were keen to grab another old cache. We have slowly been gathering what we need to meet a challenge and when we say slowly we mean ssslllllooooooowwwwwwllllllyyyyyy. When we started this challenge we had found our first six or seven by complete coincidence, then we tried to target them and then we got distracted with other caches and now if we are near one we’ll grab it to add to the collection in the hope of fulfilling this challenge before our names our on tombstones. We can see our muggle teens quote now ‘Loving parents that never fulfilled the oldest and finest caching challenge…losers, RIP.’
We thought that we could just drive to the cache seeing as though we were in a 4wd, but Mrs SP quietly stated ‘I wouldn’t’, so we parked the car and headed in, wow they are ditches not a track, fine for us but don’t think our car would of liked it or rather us if we got the car stuck and had to abort on any more caches for the day. We jumped across backwards and forwards until reaching close to GZ. A short walk off the track and we had nabbed another old one.

Eskies5 and I planned a last day of holiday geocaching around Mt Tamborine and Canungra to tick off a few more boxes. I have wanted to grab this oldie for quiet some time and have driven passed a couple of times. Today we everything going to plan we had more than enough time to stop off at this one. Headed in and passed some 4WDers playing with a mini 4WD, continued on down the path and started searching behind each tree in a rather unsystematic way. Whilst Eskies5 had found this one before it was quiet some time ago and the search was just as new to her as the first time. Eventually we made the find and I could add my name to the log book. TFTC Chris & Leon
I hadn't had time to visit here before the event in Canungra, so I made sure I stopped here on the way home. Had contemplated driving up to it but changed my mind when I read Vegan Cachers log. I'd just set off up the track on foot when a 4wd pulled up and engaged his lockers so I felt then that I'd made the right call. That was confirmed as soon as I rounded the bend and saw the track. Oh my giddy aunt! Definitely not for my little exy!
Continued on and actually caught up to the 4wd while he was trying to decide which line to take. He went to play on the ramps which made me feel ill looking at them so I hurried on in case it all ended in tears.
The walk up wasn't too bad and after going a bit too far up, I found the right path and the numbers rapidly rolled down to near GZ. It didn't take me too long to get my name on the log and return it to its hide. I had to take it slow and steady going down so I wouldn't end up taking a tumble like Imbunda did the day before.
Made it back to the car in one piece and glad to have a smiley on another oldie.

After attending an Event at Helensvale and on my way to another Event in Cunangra I stopped off to get a Earthcache, a attribute cache and this old cache. I had visited this one some time back without any luck but ended up falling over and a bloodied leg so this visit didn't disappoint. Once again I fell over, snapped my walking pole in half, nearly bought Patrol14 down with me and another bloodied leg but this the best thing is I do not have to go back as I have now converted this little green box into a Smilie and another cache on my oldest list. After attending to some wedding business on the Gold Coast this morning, I made my way up to Canungra to attend the event by SMH. Spotted Imbunda's car near the starting point for this one, so gave her a call where she said she was in the bush looking for Rusty Rebecca.
Changed shoes and ventured in to find her searching for the other cache.
Found it finally, so once log was signed and returned, it was onto this one.
Had tried to find this one while attending another SMH event here but the bush beat us. This time the track in wasn't too bad but still steep enough to trip up Imbunda who took a little tumble. Not bad, so on we went. Arrived near GZ and started searching all the trees.
GPS was bouncing around so couldn't get a proper fix. A photo from a previous finder helped locate the right one where we found the cache tucked away.
SL then returned as found.
Thanks for this cache and SMH for helping keep an oldie alive.

Day 24 of our drive from Bright in Victoria to Brisbane, Queensland. It can be rather boring, so we cache as we go. We camped are currently camped in the showgrounds at Canungra in preparedness of this afternoon's event.
Despite following saint's instructions, we found too many 4wd tracks to know which one to take. It was too humid, the sweat was dribbling down into my eyes. Beyond my hiking capabilities - but on reflection, if I had noted the terrain rating, I should have know which trail to take.
Ah Well - a sad blue face in a sea of happy faces.....

In preparation for the Mrs Event in Canungra this weekend she asked me to pop by this one on my run to check its condition and location. It is in good condition after all these many years and I found it at the base of the very same tree it was found at by us way back in the past. I took a few GPSr readings and the average of these is South 28*01.419 and East 153*10.389. I hope this updated reading helps future finders to same them some bush bashing. A fire had been through close by recently but this has not touched the cache. The easier hike for finding this is to park out the front of the Canungra Cemetery and wander in Via the other caches - GC7J022 Rusty's Earth Cache and GC5YYBH Rusty Rebecca. After you do these two you can then head in along a 4WD track. There is no need to leave the 4WD Track until you are about 20m from the cache GZ
Cache retreived and log signed after a bit of bush bashing. Found an easier way out. Thanks for the very interesting cache
We took the scenic route to find this one walking from the parking lot, in hind sight we should have got this one when we were at Rusty's Earthcache. TFTC
Having found this cache a few years ago was keen to bring some new caching friends here. Disappointed that the tunnel is now blocked off and access is only from over the top of the hill. Me thinks the nanny state has struck again.
GZ is 10 m out , you must go uphill
Best photo is “21amanda” in activity log

In the area for the nearby Earthcache and decided to go for this one as well. Previous logs, images and a well placed rock led to success.
Cheers

Lots of bush bashing required and scratches collected, and coords a little off but soon had the cache in hand! TFTC!
Thanks for the cache.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** The cache was about 15-20 meters from where the GPS said we should be looking. Access via the tunnel is forbidden so you have to go around the other end through the 4WD track. If you don’t have a serious 4WD there is quite a bit of a walk up and down the trails. It’s pleasant landscape. Once at GZ you’ll need to bush bash through lantana and lawyers vine. We only managed to find it using hints and photos from previous logs.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape albeit everything was damp. The description indicates it is wrapped in plastic bags whereas it’s not.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Secret charm. Signed cache

Log is damp, but still ok. The normal co-ords were good enough for me. Once there, I quickly located the tree from the 4wd track but still had to wade through some bushes to get there. Found a big stick to help bush bash through!
Couldn't walk through the tunnel so did a bush bash to this one.Heavy duty 4X4'ers could nearly drive to the cache!!.Found the cache but had tunnel vision and couldnt locate the Eastern end of the tunnel.
Thanks Chris and Leon
Thanks Chris and Leon
Found at 2:08 PM GAFF2 at a distance of 15 metres.
We weren't going to do this cache as it was way into the bush and the easier access was forbidden and it was just a 1.0/1.5 rating! However when we noticed that it was published in April 2003 - we were onto it! We are trying to find all of the active caches that were published before we started to cache.
So as most have commented - the lantana has taken over and you really have to combat the stuff to get to the cache - also that lawyer vine is in there as well! Not a 1.0/15 let me tell you, but when these caches were placed there was no D/T rating at all and the CO hasn't been active for nearly 9 years to update it.
Thanks Chris&Leon.
Feedback: Go up the high slope and look for the biggest tree with a slab of rock at its base.

All this bush and had to put it amongst all this lantana... WT@, co ordinates out at bit. Shit spot, got me legs all scratched up. Not one for the kids
After a lunch of pizza at the Canungra pub, my son and I were stuffed full. He had got some hollandaise chicken pizza which was the absolute bomb and we weren't prepared to leave a single piece so we definitely over-ate.
Normally a woodyrothwell caching day ends at lunch because we have learnt the hard way not to cache on when you are full. However, my wife wasn't with me today and so we decided to push on for one more. We neglected all the other nearby caches to chase this old one.
Being a target cache, I had done my research and knew we were in for a lantana bash. Initially I was planning on driving down the 4WD tracks to get close but thankfully I didn't because on the return leg I realised you needed a monster truck. With about 120m to go we decided on the direct route. Another cracking mistake.
The lantana was super-thick, the hill was steep and we found ourselves in some dry creek bed realising we should have attacked this cache before lunch. In the end I just had to wear the scratches like a badge of honour (or more like stupidity). At some point I put my foot on a creek bed which fell away and suddenly I was knee-deep in sand. The lantana still didn't give me a break.
As we got about 10m away a path of sorts showed us the easy way in which I couldn't find on any map. Well shit. We were committed now and the lantana around GZ was nothing compared to what we had fought through to get here. Anyway with some good intel we made a quick find and I had plenty of blood running down my arms from somewhere. We of course took the 4WD track back out to the car wishing we hadn't eaten so much for lunch. tftc

Flipping hard one co ordinates out . Other photos were difficult or mis leading . Find this trunk on a hill amongst lantana
Wow I what a mission, terrain value is not 1.5. My gps coordinates were different compared to previous logs. It was an overcast day though. Great find.....finally
I was out with Selva Girls today on one of our weekend caching day trips with some fine old caches as the targets. We followed the gps to this one, finding the coords in the logs helpful to get us closer. All was signed and returned before we journeyed on to collect a few more in the area. Tftc Chris & Leon

Can't believe this is only 1/1.5! The ratings in 2003 must be different from the ratings of 2018?
Was hard to get to the gz with all the prickly lantana. Can't see any tunnel here either but we saw a 4wd climbing the tracks as we were going down. Even that car had a difficult climb.
TFTC Chris & Leon. All good with this cache.

I came down to attend the Hinterland Round-up #6 Aussie Weekend event and was picked up at Nerang station by Bristracker. We then found some nearby caches before the event. Bristracker had previously found this cache and mentioned a long difficult approach. Ghostgums suggested we drive up the road and then walk in as a much easier way that the approach he had taken years ago. I made my way down to the cache and was scratched by many prickly plants, and climbed over fallen trees. Definitely much more than a D1.5 when you cannot use the tunnel. I was happy to find the cache. TFTC
The rating for this should be adjusted but then again that is just me!!
Thanks for the cache!!

Greetings from Norfolk Island South Pacific.
I found the trail to within 10m of GZ. I then headed off into a thicket of lantana and lost some claret in the process. But I found the cache and signed the log. And then hoofed it back up the hill to the geocar. TFTC

Out with Greengeckoes and mnance its a wet day today still it was fun hunting for caches.
Another of Queensland's oldest 100 for the day. Of course I obeyed the signs and did not walk through the tunnel... Final find was made with the help of coordinates provided in previous logs. TFTC!
