A beautiful spot. Thanks for luring us off the highway. Easy find using the hint. The log is full though.
I really should have paid more attention to the clue after searching for too long on the wrong side of the track, I stumbled across it! Was attempting to go to the closest hut today but the water was flowing too fast and was very full so decided to cut the walk short and go home and return when its a bit sunnier to dry the feet! TFTC!
I was so focused on following the gps as it counted down I didn't even realise there was a waterfall at all. Thanks Sallies

On our way to Christchurch after our Christmas holiday. I convinced sveppi to get the 4 oldest caches on the way. Easy walk here to a pretty spot worthy of a cache. For such an old hide we were surprised by the exact placement and small size considering there is a lot of space here to hide something bigger. Cache found in plain sight looking like rubbish so covered it a bit after we signed.
Heading to Christchurch on a Geocaching mission. Part of my mission was to collect twenty different D/T combos and the two up this track fitted the bill.
A lovely walk. Good to be in the bush after a long drive. TFTC

Finally made it here! The container was a bit smaller than I expected. Nice spot. TFTC!!
Found it ok but the log book is saturated and all ripping due to being so wet, so I couldn't write in it sadly
Enjoyed stopping here today as we head through to Arthur’s Pass on a beautiful winters day,
Thanks for maintaining this old cache that was why I stopped today. FP from me

I had been here before a couple of years back but not this far in.
Cheers for the cache.

On a trip to the coast and caching along the way. Lovely spot. Found with everdene22. Tftc
Found while on way from greymouth to chch with mangoambs. Nice cache, lovely spot, thank you
I do so love the awesome black beech trees so enjoying walking along this track. Had to start walking a little faster as I got cold again and did not have extra layers with me. Bugger. Got this one snagged and tagged. Cheers. What an amazing area. fav from me.
Monday today, and first up is Bealy Spur Track for the morning, then home via Lake Brunner and Murchison later today.
Its Queens Birthday weekend and The Seagnoid, Zara and I are heading out of town for a long weekend to Arthurs Pass, via Kaikoura. Had a fantastic weekend, seeing lots of new places, limestone formations, amazing views, awesome beech forest walks, but getting nowhere fast. Bloody cold at times with -3deg frosts but thankfully the snow stayed on the top of the highest mountains.. Enjoyed driving back via Lake Brunner, Murchison. An awesome few days exploring.

On our way home now, but we do have a little time to spare, so are picking up some random caches along the way. Stopped off here. I really like the odd little hill, and its beech forest covering. Gets a favourite.
Taybeedragon and I are on a five day extended Queen's Birthday weekend. Happy birthday marm! The plan was to cache the Arthur's Pass route, from Rangiora to Lake Buller. You would think four days was enough to do the 211 kilometers, but we didn't even manage the 130 to Arthur's Pass village before we had to pull the pin Monday lunchtime for the drive back to Blenheim. But on the way we saw some amazing views, strange geology, weird amounts of ice in the puddles, ice on the inside of our windscreen - it was that cold. Caves, wonderful beech forests, rather a lot of bridge barriers and even a cache or few. And there was blisters, sliding down icy grassy hills on our bums (what fun!) and rather a lot of walking. Many thanks to all the cache owners that made this such an amazing trip.

Just finished the Bealey Spur Track, and just made two more stops on the way to Greymoth, this being the first. The turnoff before the bridge is real easy to miss. It's quite narrow and doesn't really look like a driveable road but it is.
Walking on the trail, we stepped off too fast and added some unneeded terrain stars to the walk. Came out at the cache site soon though and could return via the easy track.

We went out on a 3 night hike, hubby, me, and our 16 month old. - To celebrate our Wedding Anniversary!!
We started near Otira, went via the Taipo, and ended up walking to Bealey where we had an airbnb booked via Carrington Hut.
But it wasn't until day 4 of our hike that we actually found some caches! Not many about to be had along here!!
As we were getting closer & closer to GZ, we were debating whether we needed to veer off the path at some point - luckily we decided not to, as otherwise we would have ended up way off!! Our legs were super knackered by this point!!!

On our way home for Xmas. Stopped for a short stroll to this older listing, which has been on the to-do list for some years now. The first time I was walked past here was minus six months, then came back to do the 3 passes. A shame the original container has gone and that it's only a micro throwdown replacement - is it okay with the COs to log the replacement?
The temporary replacement cache was a quick find. It was very exposed so I covered it with some leaf litter. it's nice to find an old cache.
Saw this had a few dnf so came prepared. Staying in castle hill for the weekend so out exploring the area with family over from the uk .
3 of us looked for a while with no luck so I have placed a temporary cache next to the track (stump) to fill in the gap until the Co can get to it . Tftc

Had a long look around with Team_Gaters and TheWanglers, but came up empty. If it is where we think, it seems to be gone. May be a good idea for the CO to pay a visit.
I spent a long time looking for this geocache. Someone had built a shelter out of branches near gz. I am wondering if it went missing at about that time as there may have been a number of people there and it may have been spotted and muggled.Either that or I am blind.
Love this stunning picturesque walk to the cache. Gorgeous way to spend my birthday. Tftc ♡ ♡
Nice short walk up to GZ and a relatively quick find. Amazing how you don't ever see or think of looking at these places until you look for a cache. TFTC.
After a busy week at work I needed some fresh air so was off on a caching mission with Shannonp1. This was one of thirty odd caches for the day most of which required a decent walk. Quickly collected on our way past after a nice short walk.
We were looking forward to this trip to New Zealand.
After hours of flight from Belgium we finally arrived, picked up our Road Trip Special and started going.
First we organised a little event to meet the locals. It was a blast and we've met some nice people!
After that we did a whole tour around the South Island in 3 weeks, sleeping in the car or our tent.
It was great!
A little walk we did, to the cache and back. Thanks for this!

An easy find with Jayjewel on a lovely caching day. The Grey Warbler & Bellbirds were in great song. This was our first cache of the day on our caching adventure. TFTC
#8296. We must have drive past this cache at least three times on previous caching expeditions. First time down this road in nearly four year, and at long last we made time to stop. The track to GZ is a nice walk. Great to find a venerable Sallies cache; can't be too many 10 year+ caches still active in NZ (the 75th oldest active SI cache according to my current GSAK database). TFTC.
One of 58 caches found on a trip from Rangiora to Greymouth. A day which started off with fine weather in Canterbury, turned to drizzle at Arthurs Pass, then mainly fine from Kumara to Greymouth. We arrived at our destination after 6:30pm, tired but happy with our day especially as it ended with a FTF in Greymouth , a rare occurrence these days .
A few DNFs towards the end of the day, but with energies flagging by then, we weren't prepared to spend long searching. We were glad of the mainly easy, mainly drive-bys of the BtG series in the damper weather. Thanks to all the COs for their hides and for making our journey so enjoyable (and long!).
I noticed that this was an old Sallies' cache, and a short walk, so was keen to look for it if the weather held out. There were already a couple of cars parked in the area before the bridge, but no sign of anyone else so they must have gone on one of the longer tramps. A very pleasant walk, with a cache and a waterfall at the end, what more could I ask for! With the hint the cache was a quick find - well hidden and in great condition. Nice to find such an old cache. TFTC.

We really enjoyed our walk in the Black Forest. It is a beautiful spot for a cache. Thanks sallies.
Great wee walk to this cache grabbed it on the way to the next one up the valley. TFTC
Nice walk. It was so good we continued on for a further hour. Easy find. Tftc. Cache in same place but now not so obvious.
#2 of 6 on our trip to Lake Mahinapua. It turned into a long trip (see Rincewind3's entry for more). TFTC
#2 of 6 on our trip to Lake Mahinapua. We only left Chch after picking Rincewind jr up from school and refuelling so on the road about 4pm. Between caching and playing tourists with cameras we only arrived at the DOC cottage at 9.15pm, only to find we couldn't get in! No cellphone reception but at least there was a note with an emergency contact number; we just had to drive halfway to Hokitika to make the call. Eventually got hold of someone who knew the code to the door. Suffice to say it wasn't MUCH different to the one I wrote down All in all it was an adventuresome day and we're all glad to be in bed now. At this stop it became apparent I hadn't read the cache description properly when we ended up on the wrong side of the waterfall! A gorgeous walk but it gets more than undulating beyond the GZ. In the end Rincewind jr had the cache in hand before I'd finished reading the hint! TFTC
Heading to Greymouth with TheWanglers on a caching weekend. Nice to knock off a few along the roadside as we go along.
"Park on the left just before the bridge"...."where"..."there isn't anywhere"...."aaarrrrgh"...."hay; duck in there"...."ooooohhhh"......"who would have thought"....
Clearly, usually, too busy negotiating the approach & bridge to notice the entrance and a great wee carpark here. Nice one. Nice walk in the forest and a quick find and sign. Great spot & hide. Cheers.

Team_Gaters and I have planned a this trip over the last few months. We finally got to the business end of things and kicked off out West Coast raid. We had two days and a lot of boxes to tick. We started at 5am on Saturday morning and it took over 12 hours to get to Greymouth. We drove a lot, walked a lot and had a lot of laughs. We experienced 4 seasons and even contemplated aborting the mission as we were standing in icy cold weather freezing as the rain came pelting down in Arthurs Pass. We encountered matigouri, rosehips, blackberries, brambles, spainairds, baby gorse and old man gorse!!! Still finding parts of prickles in my skin! We also saw kea, weka, cave weta, tree weta, giant slugs, giant spiders in caves, west coasters, fat wood pidgeons, tui and a giant dragon fly. Had wet feet for nearly two days. Three FTFs and on of them was unpublished (first for me).
I felt like we were driving into the batcave with this one. I dind't realise there was a carpark down here. Nice stroll to GZ and quick find. I love beech forest. This ticks a 'month place' box for me. I love NZ only a few metres off the road and you are in the 'black forest'.
Awesome weekend. TG and I joked that going back to work would be a bit of a let down, so to combat that we would keep one foot in a bucket of water and the other one on top of a pin cusion, that should ignite the memories.
Thanks for the cache.

A quick find after a pleasant walk along the track. I have passed this one by several times over the last few years so glad to finally have it. Signed log, TFTC
10th of 21 successes on a day dedicated to caching between Yaldhurst and Arthur's Pass. A very pleasant little walk in the bush and a simple find. #321. TFTC.
Easy find on the way back from Arthur's pass.
On holiday from Scotland so enjoying a few caches with husband and son. Picked up TB and will move on probably early next week

familiar country for us.....even camped at the car a week as a base for various adventures.
Lovely walk to a beautiful spot. Turned out to be a pretty quick find and no need to resort to the hint. Dropped off a TB. TFTC
Stopped to stretch the legs on the way back to the coast,
Bush pretty dry and the moss crunchy underfoot.

Found this one by luck. Batteries on gps died when on 300-400 feet. Guessed the distance from there and searched not expecting to find it but we did. Thanks from England for the nice walk through the forest.
Over the hill to Chch to the dentist (aargh) so a few caches on the way over and the way back.
I stopped to check my GPS only find that I was standing almost on top of the cache. Must use eyes first, don't rely on technology.

Last day in NZ and leaving Arthur's Pass and heading to Christchurch for our flight out. A few hours to kill on the way so why not pick up a few caches? Nice walk and a quick find. Liked the hide!

Such a beautiful peaceful spot where the cache is, unfortunately the car parked at the beginning had it's window broken So sad, hope nothing was stolen.
Pleasant walk through the forest and another great photo opportunity from the parking area TFTC.
Visited by TB4BNBF "Biene auf Reisen" on Christmas Day. Logbook is almost full. TFTC
Quick walk after tramping Bealey Spur. A lot of trees down after heavy snow but cache in perfect condition and dry. Nice spot. Almost expected a Hobbit to appear. TFTC
We were on our way to Arthur's Pass today and did some geocaching along the way. We grabbed our lunch and headed towards the cache. While I was looking near the Tee Pee, my wife found the cache. Took the geocoin and then hiked up the trail to a bench and ate our lunch. Nice location. 12:00 noon.
Sweet little spot & nice short hike. Thanks for the excuse for a leg stretch & GZ. Activated & left newly activated SunsetTraveler Geocoin.
Lots of snow damage. Got to within 150m and then encountered Baby-Organist-impassible trees.
