Logging with the kind permission of the Sallies - I had the info gathered from eons ago; made another visit to GZ a couple of weeks ago and couldn't find the container but had the right spot.
Really lok forward to another, similar, cache in the future.
Really lok forward to another, similar, cache in the future.
Checked out the final, today and the final has again gone missing. Very strange since it is not readily accessible! Because of this, and the fact that several of the waypoints are compromised, we are archiving the cache. We will replace it by a similar one later! Rodney and Iris.
I am temporarily disabling this one as a number of teh waypoints are in the Earthquake Cordon / Red Zone.
It is usually the cache owners responsibility to do this and will be the cache owners responsibility to re-enable it when it becomes available again.

The first few waypoints seem to be inaccessible at present, but I have started to visit those that are accessible. Today I visited WP6 (Victoria Lake). The pier has been completed rebuilt - all new timber except for the vertical piles. There is no longer any signs or writing on the pier.
Obtained all the required information on a visit last year and finally had time to complete the paperwork today. A well set-up and themed cache and lots of fun completing - just a shame others don't make more of an effort. GZ was out a wee bit but it was always obvious where it was going to be. Thanks for the efforts in putting this one together.
For some reason the lastest log hasn't come up on my iPhone, so i looked for a while but didn't persist.
I shall have to return for a (cooler) day at GZ.

Out caching with owners. Checked cache for them and you need to be on the right side of the clue (it is there) T4TC
Gorgeous hot Canty day to finish this one off. Dropped off Brown Dinosaur TB - no sign of the other two TBs listed with the cache though.
A really fun cache and a most satisfactory find!! I really appreciated the Sallies putting in hand holds at GZ!! Approaching the site even while many metres away you just know you're in the right spot. TNLN Thank you
The log book was quite wet though still usable and still in the plastic bag. Covered the container with something solid and weather proof, when leaving. Fellow cachers will probably have difficulty with the lake question. The water was high and the paint in very bad condition. However when the arithmetic side of the puzzle is being done, there are really only three options for this equation and a careful re reading of the explanation, (not the hints) will take you in the right direction.

I've been on the whole tour and found every single waypoint, I walked, cycled and drove everywhere and at the end I jus calculated the wrong numbers and ended up near Akaroa.
Now I am on my way south and that means I have to come back to the cachesite in January!

A fantastic multi - well thought out and v informative. Well done, Sallies. Thank you.
Nice to have finished this one (just in the nick of time for the final cache location too-nudge nudge wink wink say no more.) No sign of either of the travel bugs logged to this cache tho!! Lots of fun even tho the final cache is a bit scary in the dark. TFTC
It's good to get this one off the list finally, every time I go near the Square the WP's show up on my GPS - no longer. After a walk around in the rain in town last week to get the WP's up here to finish it off.
A bit of a worry when the original co-ords had me far away but figured out that the lake level was obscuring the last word
A great day to be up on the hills today, a quick find once all the maths was done. Dropped in a TB. Thanks Sallies.

Tracked this one done despite not being able to access the pier. Glad to have finally ticked this one off. TFTC
Found all the waypoints bar the one at the lake. I got within 30m of the pier only to be confronted by a temporary security fence erected for the Ellerslie Flow Show... ah well, will return in a few weeks once the Show is over...
Finally, Victoury-4-us !! Started this in the city when we first got into geocaching - months ago! Came here a few weeks ago but made a small miscalculation & weather was getting worse so left it to do today. Last time, the approach would be from the steep side, today found the easier but after so much rain still quite tricky access to GZ. Cache is safe & good condition. (#343, 1/3) Took dice t/bug
Was grabbing a nearby cache, so walked over and found this quickly. Admittedly Jenguin found most of the clues, but I got the last one!
This is a big one took a couple of days to complete. The buskers covered some of the info. Managed the rest later on. Lovely views from the park. TFTC
Park gates close at 9pm - so don't go in at 8:45pm and rush about like we did! Went back the next day to complete. Otherwise great multi, who knew there were so many Victoria's in Chch. Log book is a little damp but otherwise OK.
Note: had difficulty finding answer to tram service question...on return to the park discovered that plaque with this info is currently hidden behind Busker's Festival banners!!! Arggh!

I started this cache on foot on my first day in Christchurch more than a week ago, and left the last part for today by car. I wasn't convinced that all information was correct, however the calculations seemed to work out. I followed the geotrail and approached the cache from the terrain rating 4 side (3 for actual terrain, plus 1 for the wind that was trying to blow me off the rocks). Of course there was an easier way.
Nice multi! TFTC

Enjoyed the tour around the city which we did on a previous trip from Dunedin a month ago, then finished the cache today.

Went to check the final of this cache today - just at the right time! managed to arrive just as another caching team was looking for the cache so we were happy to be able to replace it so that they didn't have to go home disappointed (as did the previous searcher) after all their hard work. So, cache is replaced and in place!
#332 (2/7 on a Port Hills traverse). Found with Troodles. It was a day of trying to finish unfinished business. Had gathered most of the info for this cache over the winter. Visited last 3 waypoints and calculated final coords. Arrived at GZ and checked PDA for details, and only then noticed last entry was DNF. Had a god look round. Decoded clue (which should have made it easy to find); still no luck. Went back to where Troodles was sitting and it turned out that Rodney (aka Sallies) had just turned up to replace the cache! Great timing. Was the first in the new log book.
Nice cache; many thanks.
Nice cache; many thanks.
This is the first cache I have logged personally, as I am usually "mentioned in dispatches" in StreetWalkerNZ's visit logs. Thought this cache was a good one to start doing it myself, especially after meeting the cache owners in its pursuit.
Thanks, Sallies, for making me take notice of many sights around the city.
Thanks, Sallies, for making me take notice of many sights around the city.
I hate DNF's. Have been slowly picking off the way points over the last couple of months. Finally, on a beautiful day we had all the numbers and after some crunching set off down hill with high hopes. The spot fit the clue, but alas came away empty handed. The same thing cannot be said for our Olympic team today. 2 gold, a silver and 2 bronze. Go Kiwi.
Well we started this one nearly two years ago but last week we were in town on our bikes so we finished all the waypoints for this and Baldeds Canterbury tales(These two fit nicely together). Canty tales was finished last week, and today we headed up the hill. Info easily found, we sat in the sun and Mrs S.t. did the sums. Oops!! final 1.3km away. That didnt seem right[?] Re Did the Sums, nothing wrong with Mrs S.t.s maths. Had another look at the clue info, took a guess and went and found the cache, thanks in no small measure to Mrs S.t's persistance
Thankyou for this cache, it must have taken a lot of effort to set up.
TNLN.
The travel bug seems to have long gone.

By the way, the log is pretty damp, but functional. The sun was gone by the time we found it so couldnt dry it.
Yes we have ticked off some more waypoints, logging this visit so I can upload some photos taken near the first waypoints.
Found the final on the second try. I was all over the right place the first time, just didn't look close enough. My first find in New Zealand. TNLNSL
In family of kiwicachers, great spot. Beautiful view

Loads of fun and informative tour in the process. Thanks a bunch. Hoping to snag the TB but none found. Oh well.
We have started! On Monday found Ring the Bell for Peace and ran out of time had intended on finding wp7 then. Did find playground. After a number of successful finds this moring it was play time for the boys.
A while back I loaded all the waypoints into my gpsr and maped them making notes as to where they were so knew there was one close by, but didn't have sheet - could I remember the question I think so but not to risk it I wrote all the information down to do the counting at home. (As I unloaded the car I found the sheet, as you do) So Victoria Lake is ticked off, only 8 more to go hee hee.
Oh and I have them camera back hadn't even got out of the car and I had taken some photos 5 days with out it while caching was just 5 days too many!

Sorted out the central city clues last night (although doing "the lake" in the dark was interesting!). Arrived at the park to find it shut. Came back in the morning and quickly polished it off. Thanks for a really enjoyable cache.
I finally got this one after doing the wpts a few weeks ago. I had made a simple mistake with one of the sums the first time. The next time I had the right coords but I didn't think it looked right and tried changing some numbers. Another visit to the wpts confirmed that I had it right in the first place so it was back for a proper look. GZ was between the trees, but it didn't take too long to find the cache.

Found it, finally! I started this over a year ago, and just got the waypoints finished, made a special visit to finish it and get the cache. Thanks for the tour! TNLN
Researches the city waypoints a few weeks ago and set off today on a beautiful sunny afternoon to complete the task. After a pleasant walk around the park we completed our mission. This has proved be be an enlightening exercise which we have thoroughly enjoyed. TFTC TNLN
Took somewhat longer than I anticipated and made my departure from Christchurch later than planned but having got part-way through the "Tour" I was determined to finish it

Visited the cache site earlier in the month when it was missing. Pleased to see it restored. Lovely calm morning to be out on the hills. Lots of people around more energetic than I am. TNLN
Came back today to find this one. Many thanks to the Sallies for checking on it earlier in the week and replacing it so quickly. Was a particularly warm day up there. You may need to update the TB status that was in the previous cache container. TNLN Cheers!
have sent an email to the owners of the Eiffel Tower TB to let them know that it has almost certainly gone missing. It is hard being the bearer of this sort of news.
Good to know we were probably in the right spot then. We hunted and hunted on the 2nd. In the end we gave up. After reading through previous logs, and comments about how well hidden it was, we thought we must have just missed it, and would give it another shot.
Checked this out today and found that the cache container has gone missing. We didn't have a container with us so will return in the next day or two with a new cache container.
I have wrong claculated, but it must be at the last statio. So i found it quick.ge0rg

[Whoa... Talk about taking us around the place and more! If we had realised the extent of this one to start with we would probably not have attempted it as we only have 4 days in CHCH.] The hint has grown up quite a bit. Still narrows the search on such a steep terrain! [No swaps! T4TC.]
finished this cache night but it was too dark to visit the final . so did it this am +travel bug eiffel tower

Our first Kiwi cache! A great way to spend the afternoon and thankfully we found it just before it got dark.
Found on a lovely sunny day. Swapped a ring puzzle for a sheep magnet. Thanks for the history tour.
We had a great time putting this cache in order. Actually been working on it for a long while, a bit at a time. The first attempt at GZ was foiled by time and muggles, but the co-ords did take us a little way off. Soon sorted it out on a second visit with the help of young Claw and his sense of adventure. We picked the best day weatherwise - it felt like spring up there. Thanks for all the fun.
Enjoyed doing this cache. Even my Christchurch friend got to see a few new places down town. It was blowing a gale in the park so that added spice to retrieving the cache. TNLN Thanks.
Finally, after searching for it on a previous visit, and all those wp I did months ago. Jeff went straight to it before I arrived with Andre and GPS. Another set of eyes is so helpful occasionally. Cheers Sallies.
I started on this one several months ago.
Finished it off on a caching trip with Bitsprayer (both traveled to ChCh from our respective corners of the SI and go together for a days caching).

Dyl and I went on major gecocaheing exercise loking for Victouria, City and Coast, & Canterbury Tales - took most of the afternoon - Found this one despite the presence of numerous muggles
We REALLY enjoyed this one. It was great to go to so many Victoria sites to collect clues AND we met our first other geocacher while we were out and about. Must remember to try to be less obvious.

Great multi-cache. It took us a bit longer than it should have, we had to make two trips after missing a clue. Nice little hiding place, however, we didn't realise how well you can be seen from the top, so we must have looked rather dodgy. The weather was fabulous yet again. Took Quasimodo, left ladybug.
Went to the cache after dark today with the aid of a small torch and good local knowledge. The cache has not gone - it is still there, right where it belongs! It is extremely unlikely that the cache will get muggled, hidden where it is and concealed as it is.
Another grand Sallies multi under my belt!! The walk around town was part of my "tour" of all the Central City waypoints for three different multis in the one morning - well, it's efficient, isn't it??
Then an afternoon spent gathering pinecones allowed me a short break to get the last few clues. And yes, the final cache is very well hidden. Surprisingly for the location, my GPS was doing a little wander around. And the hint is mysterious. Still, it was found after 5 - 10min hunting, and trying to think like a geocacher. Thanks Sallies. TNLN

Finally got round to doing the "high" half of the cache. Started this one a while ago with middlebuckoboy. Had all the inner city clues and waited for some time to get up the hill. First visit was unsuccessful - right coordinates but looking in wrong spot. Still even when we went to the spot today, it took quite some finding!!
Thanks again Sallies!

Whoa! This has got to be the king of all multi caches - spent the whole afternoon doing this ... Got to what I thought was the end when I realised I was missing 'D'. Bugga - back into town to pick it up and even picked up the wife on the way back through - lucky I took her along as she was the one that found it.
I totally didn't get the hint about "when facing downhill, look up". I still don't get it actually? Maybe it applied to the older cache position? That little blighter is very well hidden ...
Thanks Sallies

Took a couple of weekends to do this one- breaking at the obvious break!
It's strange when you keep coming back to the same place when caching - this is the third time here... and it looks like it will be 4 when we feel a bit more energetic...

We are brand new to this wonderful activity. I have just had a birthday and Connie got me a GPS handheld. This was our first trip and we LOVED working out the codes then finding the treasure trove. We forgot to bring something suitable to put inside so added a $1 coin. A great day, got exercise and sunburned!

Papa Bear had spent a lunchtime in town finding some square clues, and we'd picked up some parked ones while orienteering, so we spent some time today finding the others. One was a little tricky, but the rest were on pleasant strolls.
So, off to GZ, only to find that we must've got one digit wrong as we weren't in a place that matched the description or, when we resorted to it, the clue.
Luckily, being a couple of metres off didn't pose a problem to Mama Bear's cache instinct, and she found it on the way back to the car!
We took the Ecoteam keyring (to complete our collection of NSW cachers' sig items!) and will put something nice (and smaller than the only swaps we were carrying)next time we're in the vicinity.
Thanks for the tour!

Woohoo! Have been MTB'ing through town to get a lot of the answers for this cache and a few others. Knocked off the final couple of questions this morning, and went to the final cache location (in my car) after completing Canterbury Tales. Cool hiding spot for a fun cache. Thanks Sallies! No exchange made. Cheers Gav [218]
Went there this evening to check out the cache. Everything is fine and the cache is in excellent condition and still well-hidden.Just waiting for Rediguana to find it!

Just thought you'd like to know that I was silly enough to do a little MTB'ing around town yesterday and grabbed some of the answers - in the rain
We completed the tour, but weren't able to locate Vic-tour-ia's cache. We enjoyed the hunt and we will return to the cache site for another look.
Hey Sallies! Great tour. A very good introduction to caching. I may be hooked... oh no! An excellent trip around Christchurch and its environs. Did the first few sections one lunch time - an easy walk from work, and chose this excellent day to finish it off. As my first real cache I wasn't exactly sure where or what to look for at the end, so resorted to decrypting the clue and eventualy discovered it safe and sound. Many thanks to Peter "Q" Smith for his searching assistance.
Next time I'll take something slightly smaller to leave in the cache.
+ black elephant that now takes up 1/3 of the space inside the cache.

This was our first venture into the field. We had a great chase, looking at familar surroundings in a new light. Although we didn't succed in findingthe cache, we had a thoroughly good time and are hooked! As newbies, we now know what 'multi-cache' means - this really added to the experince of Loyal Tour on a sunny day. Intend to look again.
This was the very first cache hunt I went on. Dalmore and I had only intended doing part of it at a time but we got hooked and could not stop. It was very dissapointing to not find the cache after all our hard work but we still enjoyed the hunt.
Returned some time later after the cache had been replaced in a new spot.
Thanks for getting me hooked on caching!

Another fantastic cache by the Sallies. Looks like they are making a play for BaldEd's 'Master Multi-cache Machine' trophy. After wandering round the city yesterday (we parked close to clue L then walked - had a nice lunch in the Arts Centre) we decided to couple finishing this with hunting 'L' today. Finished working out the clue, grabbed 'L' then returned to find the actual cache. Bernadette found the cache (I was looking for the 0.0 point) and also found one of BaldEd's orienteering markers. The area will be familiar to anyone who has completed another tricky cache.

Dang, got beaten to the cache. Good one Nick. I got all of the bits yesterday but then pieced them together incorrectly, leading me to the wrong place (It was dark so didn't look around too much as it didn't seem quite right). I suppose I should get out of bed a bit earlier if I want to be first there. Took US100$ hacky, left smiley magnet. Thanks Sallies for a great hunt, it's giving me all sorts of ideas
Did the Royal Walk through the city before work this morning but had to leave the park visit until this afternoon. It was great to again get the opportunity to do someone elses multicache for a change.
I must say that parts of this park are getting quite familiar to me. I have been by here quite a few times in setting up the GPS Orienteering Course and visiting another very tricky cache.
+ mousetrap, - smiley magnet (now where have I seen that before [?])
Thanks Sallies.
