Searched pretty much every dead tree in the neighbourhood with a negative result. Found what looked like it should have been a cache location and then about 2 feet away I found a toy 'Lip Glitter' stick. Looking at the description it is possible that this once lived inside the cache. It may be that the cache has been plundered.
This would be a great spot to rest up on a summers day. Not today though, it was persistanly raining.

Used our new Garmin 60C but could not find cache even with the help of some friendly muggle children and their mother. Lots of dead trees with some very traditional hiding places. Even searched some dead trees overgrown with grass. Lots of triangulation and averaging to get a fix on co-ordinates and spent nearly an hour searching.

Would the owner please check if cache is still there as we would love to get this one.

Came at this from the gravel road end (hurrah for WRX),
wondering what and where it was going to be. Nice little
reserve, good traditional hiding place. Nil swaps.

Lovely spot – will be back in the summer for a picnic. Looks like there is a 45 min walk upstream of this reserve also.

In: Craft knife
Out: Tape measure

On our way to Raglan and found the conveniences very convenient.
Good to have a quick stretch of the legs.

Nil in and nil out. Thanks

Why are the dozens of blue ice cream containers there on the fence line?

Beautiful spot. Plenty of solitude on a chilly winter day. Found this one as the sun was setting. Lucky cache find for me as I needed a new hat! Out: the blue hat In: a magical mystical glass orb from the $2 shop

Cold day today - couldn't quite see the Taniwha! Neat little river - looks like it could be good for swimming in the summer Smile. Took bread-bag clip left disney character.

Nice out of the way place. I should have taken gumboots to avoid the little piles left by the sheep. Cache easy found after getting courage to put hand and arm in dead tree - no spiders or possums.
Nothing in, nothing out.

21-Nov-03
No sign of the Taniwha, but was stalked by a large rooster the entire time. Found cache easily enough (a little to easy - was quite exposed). TNLNSL. Could the next cacher take a spare stashnote - the one here is getting a little worn. Definitely a spot to come back to.

Fourth find of the day, after Beauty of Waterfalls, Bridal Veil Falls, see log at http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=20850

It was raining hard by the time I got there (11:00am). Not too much mud, and a beautiful river for the Taniwha to play in. The Taniwha had a day off, and left some birds to protect the river, and they were doing a good job, swooping over the river continously.

Not much signal near the cache, but I spotted it anyway, without too much trouble.

When I got back to the carpark, I saw 4 little Chinese-looking kids peeking out of the back of their campervan, looking disappointedly at the rain.

Out: Blue baloon
In: Keyring torch

Due to the inclement weather, I decided to skip the 3 hour tramp to get to Look Out!!! Ruapane http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=f38cb5e6-c614-4bd2-bff3-837877e62326

Next stop: Rotoroa - http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=4e56e6fc-aad0-4cde-8a64-1e5372b4934f

Second time lucky on this one - first time we went looking at dusk and ended up spending over an hour but without luck. This time we walked straight up to it Cool

Beautiful area, I imagine it would be a busy little area in the warmth of summer what with picnics and kids running around everywhere nearby.

Took a trip to check on the cache after reports that the hiding place had deteriorated which it had slightly. I'll change the description.

Missed the Kaimai kid by 10 minutes but passed him as he was walking back to the car.

On the way to Wayne's world and dropped in to find another silvafox cache. The e-trex was off a bit, probably the tree cover which meant a search was called for and Simon did the job again. Spotted Kaimai on the way in. Left plastic ring, magnet, soap, and tissues Took glowstick,2x Balloons and the chalk.
Thanks Silvafox

Strange met the tramping group again having a debrief here....so introduced them to geocaching without showing them the cache.....

Was very easy to locate.....mind you half of the hiding place is now lying on the ground....

Took nil and left a couple of balloons given to me as I went through the toll gates on the new Route K expressway heading out of Tauranga.

Used to trout fish this stream many a year ago, so it had memories for me.

Thanks

Willbuild
Easy find on a wet day, will be bringing the Tramping Club in two weeks to walk up the Mount. Hiding place about to fall over.
took pencils and left orange marked pen

Seems to be a popular tramping spot. I bumped into the North Shore tramping club here and one of my old orienteering friends, who was keen to see what this is all about. Funny that, as I first heard about geocaching in an orienteering newsletter. I see Willbuild was here on the same day - Gees, it's a small world (and especially in such a small part of the world!).
Very well hidden - not quite where one would first expect it.
In: light stick
Out: little basket bag
Cheers, M@

Wasn't planning on doing this one, but since I was lost in the area and the GPS had it as the closest cache... Surprised)
Great fun doing this as a night cache. Lovely glowworm display on far bank. Took nothing except Solstice traveller TB, left Dwarf geocaching token. Then onwards into the night for more nocturnal fun in the Waikato...

Went for another evening drive - out to the sticks. Found cache eventually, few places to look. Took happy rock, left solstice TB. There was a trout fisherman nearby so had to wait for him to amble by before hiding again. Thanks Silvafox.
