We have heard that there is a no public access sign near the cache so we have decided its time to archive the cache.

05-Jul-11
We went out with plans to replace the Cache, but at about 500m, we found a sign "No Public Access". It is probable that the Cache was on private land and removed by the owner on the property. We decided not to replace it and request that the Cache owner confirm access is allowed with the property owner. We can say that the visiting trackables did take in the general area around this Cache.

It appears that this cache may need replacing. If the next geocacher wishing to attend this cache is able to replace for us it would be much appreciated.

The sixty eighth find on our post Sunny Side Up caching tour.

Well the walk was fairly easy, the views were great, and we couldn't figure out why it's been so long between drinks for this cache!

Found with Burtons, AdrianMc, Anja and setsujoku following the Sunny Side Up event. With such terrific views on offer, we were surprised to see how long it's been between finds for this cache. Picked up some very cool rocks to place in the pool room. TFTC Liz and Bruce.

This made a nice little side trip on my way back down the Stuart Highway and gave my legs a much needed stretch as well [^]
Took a couple of nice shots from GZ and spent some time looking at the amazing rocks around here on the walk back to the car.

A great cache location.
Dosent seem to be any vehicle access from main road and the place appears deserted.
Loved the colours and the view.

We took a scourer and left a clip dispenser. Oh, also took a few of those incredible shiny smooth rocks home for the garden (owners permission – he did not know what they are). Check the pic and see if you do (guess pegmatite??). A nice spot to camp about 30 minutes from the main drag. A cool camp spot for just $8/night pp. The new owners are trying to get the place going – so try and call past if you can. We asked at the house and then gained permission to check around. The caretaker had accidentally found the cache, and replaced it correctly. After finding it, it is surprising how one could just stumble on it way out here, right at GZ. Goes to show how carefully things must be hidden, even out here, in the games we place. Maybe this is not on the Copper Hills property, but not too sure. Anyway, go in and say Hi! Big Grin.

Thanks Liz and Bruce. Clear skies, John and Sue!

We were given some guidance as to how to drive close to this cache by the manager of the nearby Copper Hills station - saved us a lot of time. We also drove through the camping ground of hte station and sat under the shade of a Coolibah tree! Put through a bunch TB's, Took: Protective Services badge, Left: Bracelet. Once again thanks Liz and Bruce.

Missed the turnoff on the way to Melbourne so I ensured that we detoured to this one on our return trip North. A great drive off the highway although at the end we were a bit put out by the closed gate. It appears that the area is closed at the moment although that may only be seasonal???
Followed the main road and then set off on foot to find the appropiate hill. With a real desire no to locate any extra reptillian critter i searched in the likely spots and was instantly awarded with a find in an empty hollow. Left a badge and took the glowstick. Thanks for the hide. I would have never seen this bit of our wonderful country without the added incentive of a remote cache.

We found this one with Vombatus back in 2003 but have just discovered that we did not log it. Sorry for the delay I must have lost the page we wrote the info on, will have to check if we missed any more. This was a fantastic spot and really got us interested in the game as we were only just starting out
Thanks Liz and Bruce
Thanks Snafuadv

[^] Found by Crackers, Radar, Spook and Vombatus on a journey back to Melbourne. After a night camped at the free camping ground at Cadney Park we made our way down the dusty road just to find this cache.

What a beautiful spot. We parked on the dry river bed and went off for a walk. I love this country. Another place even prettier than the last around every corner.

Left a glow stick from Sungroper 9 and took the record coster. Next time I might try camping at the homestead.

Thanks.

Vombatus
