Made the drive into the bush in the Rav and managed to make it to GZ where we found the cache quickly!! Now to get out TFTC!!
This cache may not have been in the direct fire impact zone from the February 2024 bushfires, however being a bush location to the west of the fireground which is still experiencing flare ups, and considering the locals are a little jumpy regarding non-essential activity in nearby bushland, keeping this cache disabled for now is the safest option for the time being.PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FIND ANY CACHE THAT HAS BEEN DISABLED DUE TO THE BUSHFIRES, regardless of whether you think it is safe or not. Any 'Found It' logs while this cache is disabled for this reason will be subsequently deleted. We will check out each location and arrange re-enabling of caches as access and safety allows.Thank you for your understanding.Jo and Glen (chooknchunk)(Unofficial cache guardians)
This cache is an an area subject to fire fighting operations (22-23 Feb) and may have been impacted by the fire. It has been disabled until it is safe for the CO is able to check the current condition of the cache.
Had a bit of fun getting here. Decided to let Mr Google direct us and he had us turn down a goat track that lead to a fallen tree and little room to turn around. After some thought and a bit of wood rearrangement we managed to turn around and get back to the main track. LumpyJ decided to navigate herself and quickly got LumpyR to the cache or reasonably good tracks. A quick find and decided it was time to head home. Thanks for the adventure.
Out and about with CeeJayDenno doing the annual Cache Crawl.
We managed to crawl our way through all events and grabbed a few caches along the way.
Many thanks to all COs who put in the effort for all of us.
This was a fun drive with a few others. Not everyone can get these caches. This was good old cache.

Date: August 19, 2023 Time: 10:22 AMFind #14109Finally catching up on some logging from last month. This section part of the cache crawl which turned out to be a super fun couple of days.More caches in my first 500 took us (ceejaydeno, prezDough, kristiesadventures, letthemeatcache and ConnieandRick) to a fun microadventure between events.Massive thanks go to Mikita for placing this one. ??
We navigated to the track in but I said “I’m not taking my car up there” and NOT because I didn’t think it could make it. More like I wasn’t sure of my driving abilities over that terrain. The car is German engineered and isn't just a soft excuse for an off-bitumen SUV. Anyway, we were looking at the T3 track in, not the T2 track out. Hard way in, easy way out, now where have I heard that before? LOL.
CeeJayDenno led the charge in his all-terrain vehicle (with Kristysadventures & PrezDough riding shotgun), while @ConnieandRick plus myself in ahomburg’s sedan. We made it to GZ where the cache was found quickly. We looked at our watches and thought "ooh we're running out of time to get to the Ballarat event." Whoops.
Signed as team CLARK to encompass myself, @ConnieandRick and @Kristysadventures.
Thanks for the hide Mikita and the 15 months of unlove here. Cache on!

Ahomberg suggested this old cache after the breakfast event and thinking the cache was on the 'way' Team CLARK (ConnieLetthemeatcacheAndRickKristysadventures) tagged along for the adventure.
It was about 17km to go that Lethemeatcache and I started to wonder about 'on the way'.. but we continued on. Our maps pointed a different direction but we followed along.
Soon our trusty leader pulled over and our query was met with 'my phone battery ran out'...
oh dear, to top it off we were beside a sheer dirt track with deep grooves not suitable for a standard SUV.
I piled into CeeJayDenno's vehilce and the others into Ahomberg's and up the tracks and off the supposed map we slowly made our way further uphill. a few times we ran out of reception and the offline maps disappeared but if Napoleon could make it to Ground Zero so could we!
The 4wdriving was fun and soon the cache was signed.
Now to work out the best way down to reclaim Lethemeatcache's vehicle
Thanks mikita.

Well, after the day we had on the Crawl today, I laughed at the title of this one.
Yes, it nearly was our defeat too. But sign we did, as CLARK ( joint log for us, LetThemEatCache and Kristyadventures), part of a larger group of cachers of 3 cars (with one abandoned at the start of the track), that made their way up the perilous track to this one. Yes, its true, you find the easier way out on the way back.

Out on the Cache Crawl today and any local caches got cleaned up by PrezDough and myself.
This was one of many.
We had a great time and enjoyed the day with many others.
The car loved it as part of a 2 car convoy. It started as a 3 car convoy, but German engineering doesn’t like this track.
Maybe a G-Wagon could do it….! But alas, not today.

Found on the second day of a somewhat impromptu solo caching and camping trip to Victoria from Adelaide.
I had planned to spend a week travelling, caching and camping along the Great Ocean Road, but my travelling companion had to postpone it due to other commitments. I was still keen to go away somewhere this week as well, so decided to head to the western part of the state on my own.
I created a bit of a 'menu' of specific caches of interest in the broad area that I might be in before I left home and just pottered along fairly casually, taking in the sights and grabbing what I could along the way.
I don't usually bother too much with Traditional caches these days, but this was an oldie in what looked like an interesting spot. I'm not sure that I took the 2wd route into the cache, but the route out certainly was. I even managed to spot a koala on the way in.
Thanks Mikita the cache.

I love old caches and do as many of them as I possible can. Very pleased to add this one to my smiley's. Thank you for placing this cache and maintaining it for so long.
After all the celebrations for the new year, today was a lot more laid back.
We spent the morning on a short walk to a few caches, and when most of the complainers went home, the remains did a few more caches.
I was traveling with the COs, a great way to cache! You see so much more of the bush and don't have to worry about shonkey roads. (or DNFs for that matter!)
If Napoleon was driving a 4WD like us, I reckon he would have also be defeated around the next corner!
Thanks heaps for taking me on this caching trip today.
And for my accommodation at the Raglan Big4 (even if the crocodiles did never appear!)
Thanks, Robmc.

My, my At Waterloo, Napoleon did surrender. After a good weekend in Avoca and the surroundings enjoying the company of other Geocachers and, of course, finding quite a few caches, we headed home to the Bellarine Peninsula. It was a lovely crisp clear morning for the second morning in a row, and it boded well for caching. We were driving along a nearby road, and Mrs Dromaniax noticed this one all on its own. So we made the detour as we were keen to ABBA look. We were happy to have a 4WD Geomobile, although a 2WD would make it with care. When we were looking for the cache, we realised that this is an old cache. The logbook and the cache are in excellent condition. Thank you for this cache, Mikita.
A weekend away, hosted by the lovely chooknchunk. Today’s guided tour - Ben Major and surrounds.
Great to see this old cache still in action.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache, Mikita

After spending Christmas in Wurdiboluc and a few days at Lake Purumbeet it was time to head to Beaufort to bring in the new year and kick the old one to the kerb.
Out and about for the day before the event and we colleted a few around Waterloo. Wow this is an oldie. but a goodie

Was told by my work to have Monday off from work so i turned that into 3 days, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and I picked a spot on the map that I can not remember ever visiting so Marybourgh was the spot.
After a couple of great days of caching and catching up with some good friends it was time to head towards home but a longer way home was picked so I could go via some towns to find some more and a few Adventure Labs on the way.
The answer to the question is Waterloo I guess.
All I can say is the track I took in was in way better condition then then I decided to go out on.
A couple of small mud holes as well to contend with on the way out.
Parked the Geocruiser where it was safe to pull off and I headed back up the hill on foot.
After checking a few spots I widened my search as the GPS was not playing fair and I eventually located the cache, added my name to the log and now to continue my journey towards home out of the bush
Thanks Mikita TFTC.

Heading home we are doing a few detours off the highway. We headed up the hill to an area with great views. We struggled to get the GPS to settled so we did what geocachers of old did, we put our GPS down and used our eyes. The cache is in good condition. SL TFTC
In the area hunting the Musical Gully series and any other caches that I are near and this one was next. Had a good look at my GPSr maps which show every forest track and had a route determined then headed bush. My 4wd handled the track easily and I was soon at GZ. Parked and walked the last bit and then spent a while hunting before expanding my search area and found the cache about 10m away. Thanks heaps to Mikita for this one and bringing me here. I kept going down the "main" track to exit the forest and interestingly, the worst part of the track was the last 50 metres before the end!
Tried last night a bit dark, come back today and found the treasure. Track was a bit rough but we got through. Loved the old rusty fine and all the things in it.
What to do after the fun of panic buying is over ???
Panic cache !!!!
Is that a thing?, it is now. Donning face mask, wielding gloves and protective overalls and armed with a couple of litres of hand sanitizers, went out to grab some caches
An interesting trip in with roos everywhere, Many thanks for the cache.

Not many muggles around these roads today thankfully. .
Mostly good safe hides and mainly quick finds.
A top 4wd track to this one, loved it.

As we were in the area visiting friends, we made a little detour and took the geowagon in, it was a lovely day, no one around and we stopped for the hunt to begin, GPS had us going in circles for a while but eventually it settled and the youngest team member made the cry of "Eureka" he had found the treasure, lol, made extra special by the gap in time since the last find, we were happy to give this "old dear" some love, log retrieved, signed and replaced as found, thanks for the cache and the fun
A quick and easy find as we cache our way around the Beaufort area today. We didn't spot any black kangaroos today, in fact other than skinks we saw almost no wildlife all day. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.

After setting up camp by the lake we set out for an afternoon in the cache rich fields to the north of Beaufort. WOW what a stayer - almost 14 years!
Satellites today had our GZ13 metres NE of where we found the cache.
(Apologies for time and type of log, our computer had a total meltdown.)
Thanks Mikita for placing caches for everyone's enjoyment.

Our last for today, great views here...soft roads going in! We were glad of fine weather. Thanks Mikita for continuing to maintain this very old cache.
Suscoe headed off on a longer trip today in search of some elusive caches for us.
It promised to be a warm day and it reached 36 degrees late in the afternoon.
The mornng was quite reasonable with the temperature hovering around 27 degrees til noon.
Bright sunshine with some wispy clouds up high and a steadily northwesterly made it the typical Summer's day for central Victoria.
The roads were fairly quiet today which was appreciated.
Thanks to Mikita for this hide.
The track in has been recently graded and so it was soft and lumpy today.
Got to GZ and all was good.
So much dust!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cleaning up some new caches in the Beaufort area with Wozzle68 we made the journey here to this lonely cache sitting all by itself in Waterloo Forest. The roads had been recently graded making for an easy trek.

Impromptu outing on a sunny summer day. Not too hot, not too windy, just right. Headed to Beaufort and Raglan to pick up some loose caches around the perimeter. This was the first stop and came in from the east and straight up the direct route. Nice drive and no trouble for the suburu. Got to GZ and although grass long and dry easy find. Logged at 10.59am Wednesday.
Oh my! What fun! Wozzle and I had been at Beaufort on a FTF hunt and he had a cache near here he still had to find (I'd found it already). He had found this one though in his 2WD and as we were in my 4WD I said ok let's do both. We found his then came into the forest - on the wrong track. We took a rough track for about 5 kilometres which basically weaved its way a few hundreds metres in from the main road. We finally hit the "big track" we were after and a few minutes later made it to the top of the ridge and soon had the cache in hand. This hasn't been found in about 16months so that was a random bonus I didn't expect. We soon ventured out (the easy way) and headed off to Lexton - and one more quick cache before home! Many thanks for bringing me here - so many bush reserves to explore!
A great sized cache at the end of a fun little drive in. Suitable today for all but the lowest of cars, but some sections may have you thinking twice if you are a little lower to the ground. Black wallabies spotted as were a pair of nesting cockatoos which was awesome. TFTC!
After what can only be described as an odd day, I decided to take a little detour on the way home from the big smoke.
With the daylight fading I headed up the track as indicated on the GPSr, taking care to avoid the wildlife that decided to hop on by!
Soon enough the GPSr finished its countdown and it was time to leave the vehicle and sign my name. I walked past it the first time, but upon backtracking found the cache.....how did I miss it the first time.
Just keep an eye out for widow makers around here folks. There are 1 or 2 branches just hanging there, ready to fall!

Out for a full day of January caching. It was perfect weather for it and a successful day. Drove the Geo-Astra into here. Would have been suited to a vehicle with more clearance. But in the dry weather I had no issue.
This was find 35 of 38 finds for today, being found at 3:10:00 PM.

Found with Tyred n Cranky.
Taking Tyred n Cranky's Magna for a run today. I didn't expect that we make it up to GZ on this cache being in a front wheel drive car. But Mr Tyred n Cranky took it easy and we did get there.
While Mrs Tyred n Cranky and myself signed the log Mr worked out how to make the 3 point turn so we could continue on our days hunt.

Find No. 805. Found at 11.00am with FUF009.
A day touring around the countryside caching - Lexton / Beaufort / Ararat areas. FUF009 came with us.
This was a long slow journey to grab this one, as we drove our little red car to the top. We made it - found the cache - signed the log and was glad to get back onto the bitumen.
Took lady figure and yellow lanyard - Left dinosaur and walrus.

Front wheel drive, 4 cylinder, manual, Ford Laser. Felt like a rally car driver. Had to pull on my supreme driving skills ( cough, cough) seriously though, careful driving and most cars could get through here in the dry season. Co ords were great. Found quickly from GZ. TFTC
Driving from Lexton to Beaufort, my good lay and driver, decided to side-track to this cache. With her trusty Laser, we went uphills covered with lose rocks, dodged fallen branches and wallabies. Easy to find, co-ords were good.
A 3-point turn, and we went out the way we came in.

Birds told everyone where we were. Saw black kangaroo. Swapped frog and dice for golf ball and purple necklace. Little 4x4 handled the pace. TFTC

Cache and contents are in good order. Lid is tight fitting and needs some prying and fiddling to open, but can be done without tools.

12 months since this was last logged. The little geohunting cachemobile made it up the hill without needing to go into 4wd. There has been some burning off here in the past. I found the tin in the open next to it's assumed spot, perhaps the burn-off crew found it?. Both hide and tin seem to have survived the fires ok. The lid was quite easy to get off after I employed the use of a large rock. I placed the tin back in the obvious hidey-hole and place the rock over the top.
I wonder how long until it's found again?
Thanks Mikita

Did this one while dirt bike riding, thought I had placed this cache on my garmin 72s but didn't had to rely on the iPhone 4 was quite surprised how well it worked got us as close as 1 meter cheers guys
This cache is well hidden alright! Although not in the hiding sense, in that respect I found the container in a few seconds. But getting there was quite a struggle, I'll give some tips so the next visitor may have an easier time.
I came north up Black Bottom Rd, then turned left and drove towards the cache along Jones Rd, sadly I came to a roadwork/no-entry sign just a few hundred metres short of the left turn, which is an intersection that leads up Armstrongs Lane. I wanted to go around the sign but there was heavy machinery at work at that moment, so I tried another route. I backtracked, turned right to go down Mt Emu Creek Rd, turned right down Racecourse Rd, then made a right turn up the other end of Jones Rd. I tried to look out for the dirt road North South Track, but it's very easy to miss and I ended up at the roadwork again In case you need to know, the turnoff for North South Track is at s37 22.460 e143 27.860.
I imagine Jones Rd>Armstrongs Lane would be the easiest route, but if it's blocked off, then the track would be your next best alternative. It wasn't very well suited for my 2WD but it was OK, the track is overgrown but no trees or branches in the road, the worst part is the rocks that make awful noises as they bang the bottoms of your car apart
This cache stands out to me mainly for the challenge of navigating towards it, it took up valuable caching time but was fun all the same. It's good to give some of the oldschool out of the way caches a visit when you've got the time.

Enjoyed the play of words. Located in gorgeous country that has been smartened up by recent rains and a milder summer. Found in the company of Morphoist, Dylan 7a and Little Gnome. Thank you to 'Mikita' for the cache and its location. Cache is in good condition. TNLN.
Located quickly but getting into the container took a little longer. I suspect some rusting had taken place sticking the lid firmly to the body of the container, it came free following a little convincing with a screwdriver. The log was signed and no swaps made.
After driving from Lexton end and passing within a short distance of GZ we ended up taking the "scenic route".
Did enjoy the dirt driving, but it added quite a while to our trip.
Cache found easily although a bit of trouble getting the lid off, Contents damp, but not too bad.
Signed log and made no swaps.
Thanks Mikita for bringing us to a fairly remote cache, and for the fun of getting to drive on something other than Echuca's flat bush tracks.

Glad I was in the All-Wheel Drive today. Raining heaps and quite slushy in a few spots, however, no problems. Pulled over and wandered straight to the hide, from which the partially buried container was peeking out at me. It's better hidden now. No swaps made but I did see one of your black kangaroos (or was it a Swamp Wallaby in disguise?) Thanks Mikita, for an interesting drive to a very pleasant spot.
I had to take extra care in the 2WD as the track was quite slippery after the rain but in the end manged to get to within 12m of the cache.
Then it was a battle to open the ex milo tin as a little rust meant I had to prize it gradually with a coin.
Dry as a bone inside though and then to negotiate the road back out before the heavens opened up.
Thanks Mikita.

Dry as a bone inside though and then to negotiate the road back out before the heavens opened up.
Thanks Mikita.
It was with some trepidation that I sat in the passenger's seat while feathertop took on the dodgy wet road.
Anyway I must have been concentrating too hard as on arrival at GZ I promptly fell flat on my face negotiating the 12m or so to the cache.
Thanks Mikita

Find # 2445 and 4th of the third day at 1:30pm During the Mulled on the Mountain Event. Accompanied by Highrod, Sandar10, it was nice to do a couple of easy caches after all the 4 wheel driving. TNLN, Signed Log, Thanx Makita....
Found by McAdies.
This was a nice drive up but we stopped half way to move a tree off the track! Lucky it wasn't too big. Took photo here for the veni, vedi, vici caching games competition.

Found with new Geocacher, Eagle at 12:20 PM
We searched for about a half an hour because the GPS was going all over the place. Once it finally locked in a steady signal we found it quickly.
Nice bush tracks.

Our last cache of the morning...making number 8 of 8!!!
The road is still passable in both directions, although a little rough on the hills for the 2x2!!! I wouldn't be as keen in the rain though.
The cache was found quickly and is in great condition for not being found in about 5 months.
Took: Tupperware egg seperator
Left: Lanyards & rubber bouncy ball.
Signed the log.
Thanks for the cache Mikita and for an interesting drive through some great bushland.

Went after Napoleans Defeat after visiting The gully is Alive with the Sound of Music (GCQZ8Y), for some reason I thought I had better check co-ord's, which was just as well, typo on lap top, down load onto GPS and what could have been an afteroon of fruitless searching! .
A quick alteration, and brief discussion on the best approach from last cache.
We took what looked the back route, but closest from where we were, this route I would highly recommend 4X4.
Once at ground zero Nav Man found cashe, well hidden.
Thanks Mikita great drive through a forest we had not ventured into before

Jumped 4WDs again so I could cross this one off my list. Very glad I didn't attempt this one on my own, as it's currently not suitable for 2WDs - or at least geobarinas! Large number of beehives residing at the entrance to the track, so glad we didn't have to walk past them! Took headlamp and left 3 Tupperware gadgets. Thankyou for a fantastic weekend!
Found at 3.20pm GAFF1 in the company of GeoJo. We made a break from the rest of the 4wding group to search for this cache and as GeoJo hadn't found this one either, she joined us. It was a pleasant drive up a bush track that showed evidence of a storm with some branches fallen on the track here and there, but that didn't stop us - just a few more scratches on the duco! Walked straight upto the cache, which unfortunately was exposed. Thanks Mikita for showing us this area. tn/ln
Found with a group attending the 4wd weekend. My GPSr was pointing a bit to the north and so I had to stand in line to log the book. TNLN thanks Mikita.
This cache was found with the others on the Vic cachers weekend. The cache was found easily and we turned around without too much trouble, as DJCache had shown me where the trees I neeeded to avoid stood.
Many thanks Mikita for the cache and your company over the weekend.

This one is near my geoparents house, so went for this one after a family gathering.
Was missing one of the 2Dudez, but took GeoDad instead (he had a 4WD).
He is one of the fire brigade captains at the bushfire near GZ a few months ago, so he had a fair idea which track it would be on.
(it was actually a couple hundred metres from where he crashed into a tree in the thick smoke).
Found the cache in a couple of mins, then came out and looked for old family graves in a cemetry on the edge of the bush.
At the moment, a 4WD is a must, especially if you take "B....r Track". Very wet and slippery.
Took glow sticks, left dinosaur.

Nice leisurely drive and a pity about the fire damage evident in the gums. Took hair ties and left candle. Thanks Mikita.
Found in conjunction with smegheads, took the hard way in,should have been in the 4WD today.TN left magic stix.
Very enjoyable drive into the cache, as had been the case all day when we approached gz the heavens opened up. The GPSr took us straight to it and the cache was easily retrieved.
Took smiley stress ball, Left Angel Statue.
Thanks Mikita for a nice drive.

Found by Roma & Max still following a day behind The Nomads.
Third find today on our 47th wedding anniversary.
Took: Over the Hill Magnet. (Hardly had time to settle in)!
Left: Smiley Face Stress Ball.
Thanks Makita, what a pleasant place for poor old Napoleon's demise.

Found by Maya and Ray (The Nomads) at 2:20PM on the 29th of November. Our fourth for the day on our return home from Halls Gap where we spent the weekend Square Dancing and touring. The day is getting warm again, but the breeze is refreshing. We took the superglue and left a fridge magnet. Thanks from The Nomads.
A great little drive into this one. J found it while the rest of us looked elsewhere.
Thanks Mikita for a fun end to the day.
Thanks Mikita for a fun end to the day.
Have to agree with Embi on this one... A great little challenging drive in and out of this cache spot after a relatively tame day around Mount Cole (although this was due more to gates being closed than lack of tracks).
J found this one without even holding a GPSr (much to all of our horror) but a wonderful cache!!!
Left super glue
Took something (can't remember).
Thanks Mikita!!! A great spot!

This would have been the 2nd cache that I ever saw but a 17:15 search in early June (2003) was not conducive to a find. As such, I was determined to nab it on this trip, especially now that the new recruit to team EuDes makes the road a tad easier to travel. With Team Alsume along for the ride in the GeoPaj, we parked not far from GZ and nabbed it together at 15:05 after virtually no search at all.
We left a sticky gecko and took a croc. ICE Beetle, silvester and Chaos Kids took a ride here too.
Thanks Mikita.
