River Views for Mountain Goats . In all seriousness a lovely spot!! TFTC!!
The snuggle muggle got invited to a friend's baby shower today, which meant I got the rare opportunity to go out caching on a weekend. So with my first free weekend day of caching in a while, I decided to try and make the most of it. Today's main goal was to try and pick up some oldies I needed in order to fill in some missing months for my [Jasmer](https://www.geocaching.com/blog/2018/10/the-jasmer-challenge/), and with this cache being hidden in May 2003, it was one of the months I needed.Luckily, I was able to find a spot that I could pull off and park the geomobile before continuing on foot. This area is an absolute stunning location and despite most of the day being rainy, when I arrived at this cache the rain finally stopped and the sun even came out for a little a bit. Which of course only made the place more beautiful. I would have definitely loved to explore this area a bit more, but I was on a mission and so I mostly just headed straight to GZ. I think this cache definitely earned the T2.5 rating today, as the rain had made the grass quite slick and I probably slid down the hill twice before gaining enough traction to be able to reach GZ. *That's what I get for not wearing my hiking shoes today lol*. Once I actually got to GZ, it was then a nice quick search before the cache was found and the logbook signed. It is always fun to be able to find a cache, but it is truely special to find a cache that is 20+ years old. It is like jumping in a time machine and getting a glimpse into what caching was like back in the early days of the game. *Such a cool experience!*This cache of course would earn a favourite point from me, but unfortunately I am currently on a bit of a backlog of owed favourite points, but when I earn another favourite point I will be sure to come back and give this cache a well deserved favourite point.A huge thanks goes to [Woodiebro](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?guid=2242b809-b95f-4e37-b5fa-09100f6accdc&wid=b41134ad-6ebd-40a5-b59a-7c9f99a5cec9&ds=2) for keeping this cache alive for all these years! TFTC.**Cache Maintenance Status**The cache container were in good shape. All of the inner contents were nice and dry and the logbook was clean with plenty of room for future cache finders to sign.
I tried to kayak to here from the Tullaroop Dam Wall in 2022. A round paddle of 26kms!!! I ran out of water then. If I tried now I reckon that I'd make it.
I loved this cache. Loved the area. Loved the cache container. Loved the views. Fav point from me.
I also spent a long time looking at the variety of rocks left behind by the floods. Amazing!! Many thanks

A great way to start a day out in the area...a 2003 hide and over months since last found...
Took the short walk from the road and once at GZ the good size cache was soon spotted. Log was signed, cache replaced and a few photos snapped on the way back to the car.
Thanks woodiebro....great to see this one still going strong. Cache all good.

Found and signed with dalerious on our way home from time spent at Lerderderg attending events and signing logs of some extraordinary themed caches .
What a gorgeous little spot to drive through and visit. An oasis in the middle of farming land. We were glad to see this old cache is still going strong. Cache found, log signed, photos taken. Beautiful .
Thank you Woodiebro for prompting us to visit the area.

We made the trip to this part of the world chasing one for catnap777's Jasmer aspirations..... and here we stumbled across one nearly as old.
These early ones, ya gotta grab em while you can, and a substantial detour on the way home was well worth it.
We spent the day with legends of the game celebrating the 20th anniversary of geocaching events in Victoria and what what a treat it was to find an ammo can placed in 2003 after a great fun little walk to end the day 2hours and 20 mins from home.
The bonus was being brought to a charming place that there is no way we ever would have discovered without this game.
TFTC Woodiebro.

A nice big cache in great condition beside a beautiful stream and amazingly, unloved for more than a year. Absolute ripper.
We're back in nearby Maryborough for a few weeks and after a pleasant lunch with friends in Clunes, they headed back to Melbourne and we headed back to Maryborough via this rather old cache we've been meaning to come find for a long time. I left M in the car since his sprained ankle is still tender, and trekked along the track through the rushes, across the stream via naturally occurring stepping stones, and onward and upward until I reached GZ. A pleasure to have another smiley here plus the corresponding tick for our AUSMER challenge!

After driving up and down this picturesque valley more than once, we eventually found a way to access this cache. Luckily for us, the creek wasn't running too high. There were some very large tadpoles that weren't over impressed with the intrusion. The dead grass here was incredibly slippery and my safety shoes didn't appreciate it much at all. For this reason, I was appreciative that the boys made the find rather quickly.
We discussed the terrain rating and how different they were then to now.
Thank you for placing this cache and maintaining it for so long. You have shown us a lovely place to have a picnic or somewhere to take a dip on a hot day as a local and his son were doing.

Was told by my work to have Monday off from work so i turned that into 3 days, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and I picked a spot on the map that I can not remember ever visiting so Marybourgh was the spot.
I’m really enjoying my time driving around the back roads coming across a lot of the old mining sites, towns and sights.
Parked at the crossing spoke to a couple of locals having a dip then checked the map.
Relocated to an other spot and nope that’s no good either.
Saw a track on the map and that took us down close to the river so off we went.
Convenient placed rocks help us cross the river then we soon had this golden oldie crossed off our list.
After a brief search we soon located the cache and added our names to the log.
After teaming we were wondering how many we can find this afternoon so off to the next one.
Thanks Woodiebro TFTC

This cache certainly had us searching but there was no way that we were going to give up as we all love old caches. We stopped down the bottom of the valley where a local man was swimming with his young son. Nope. We drove to the top. Nope but Geoturtle37 spotted a track on the other side that might work. Back in the cars again and another short drive got us to what looked like a promising approach. After looking around a little for somewhere to cross the creek, Posums found a great trail of stepping stones. We got to within 15mts of GZ but the steepness of the hill and the super slippery dry, long grass made this the part that took the longest. Once the mini climb was done, the cache was found quickly. We logged our names, re-hid it and slid our way back down. So pleased to have another old cache on our found list. Thank you for placing this cache and maintaining it for so long.
Nice spot. Unfortunately I wasn't the best mountain goat today and have the cuts to prove it. Tftc.

Awesome location. Glad to find another on my list of the 500 Oldest active Vic caches. Might be tempted to come here for a dip in Summer myself! Thx Woodiebro for a great hide. FP for the location.

I was following the roads less traveled to Talbot this morning
And where the road crosses Tallaroop Creek,
I discovered this you beaut spot
Amazing that this little creek has carved such a deep valley for itself over the years.
Of course it was flowing to day
So off I wobbled alongside the babbling waters to find this olde cache
A well hidden container was soon found in its cavern
What a nice container it is too [^]
Nice 'n' old skool

TFTC. We were driving a loop around the Reservoir. Finding cacheas as we went. WE decided that the best plan was to walk up, so parked ther car safely by the ford and scrambled to GZ. Made the find and admired the views just before some showers started,
Found off line on Boxing Day, and was unable to send.
It was a pending log, but has been stuck in 'cyberspace'. So now repeating the log as we don't know what's happened to the first one.
We had a great time here.
Fantastic views and it was so hot there that the water looked so inviting.
We also scared the 'bejesus' out of a poor little rock wallaby.
Sorry little guy.
TFTC, sorry the log is a little late but we only just discovered that somehow the log wasn't dispatched.

Find #1877 for me. Found at 9:50 am while on my way to Ballarat from Bendigo - without the kids who normally come with me. On arrival I wasn't sure about the best approach to this one. Above or below? Approaching from the east I couldn't see a good place to park for an upper assault so I drove to the crossing below; but the cache name suggested it was probably high up so I returned to the top and this time found a place to park which was at least off the road and made my way in. Wow, the views were amazing from up here! Fantastic! But even though I got to just 70m from the cache the GPS was clearly pointing down the steep slope so I decided to return to the car drive back down to the crossing to make my approach from below. This was definitely the best way to get to GZ but I'm still happy to make my initial error here otherwise I wouldn't have been able to enjoy those views from above! Anyway, after making my way through the longish grass from the crossing I quickly found the cache in the obvious spot. Wow, what an amazing collection of logs in this old cache! The log before mine read "Found while on a walk with the camera. This is the 3rd occasion I've had the luck to stumble across a geocache while waiting for the old man to catch a fish!" Fantastic!! But I didn't have time to read all the anecdotes at that point in time so I actually took a photo of every single page in the log book so I could enjoy reading them from home at a later time! Everything was dry and in great condition. Thanks so much for bringing me to this great location today Woodiebro and thanks for the cache! Favorite point from me for the location!
nice location do the cache view is very nice but the track not slippery as I found out my self
I headed here and didn't see a soul for miles. A fair amount of water over the road. It was quite the trek to get to GZ but I eventually made it GZ, thanks!
This has been on the radar for about 10 years but just never drove that close to it.
Today was within a few km so made the detour.
Amazing location.
The cache was a nice walk to and a good hide.
Thanks for the cache hide.

Tried to locate this cache last summer but gave up the hunt as it was far too snakey amongst the long dry grass and rocks. Today with Mrs McLooker leading the way through very long grass and with our walking sticks ready to attack any slithering reptiles, we made it to GZ. Took awhile to retrieve but happily signed. We followed our exact steps back to the geo car. So relieved that we didn't see any Joe Blakes. Thanks Woodiebro
We made the find today...the grass is very long and this was a tough T2.5. Luckily we saw no snakes. Managed to make the find after the GPS finally settled. What a lovely spot and there was much evidence of recent high waters. The river was flowing today. Thanks Woodiebro, found with Motndarg.
What a beautiful spot it would be great in the heat of summer. Picked up a duck will move it on asap
Stunning location! Perfect place on a hot Summer day. Will definitely revisit! Thanks for highlighting this beautiful part of the state!

Another magic out of the way place!
Lots of water today and very quiet too. Nice big and old cache.

This is one road I have passed by a number of times but as the rough surface was always a little daunting to me. But today I decided to take it on, well I must say, I never had anything to worry about as the road was quite good apart for the odd corrugation. GZ was a sure surprise as I didn't think the view could be this good.
TFTC Woodiebro a great little GZ

Well what a brilliant day today was.
We headed off bright and early for a wander to the north west, north, centre and east of Creswick.
A clear sky, a gentle breeze, a list of caches to find and the very good company of our great mate Bushfire, what else could you ask for!!!!!
Thankfully the traffic was light for most of the day, we arrived back home in the early evening, well satisfied with our day of 28 finds from 28 caches visited and being with the Red Ant when his 6,000th find was achieved.
This was find number 5.
We found our way here and were amazed to see the creek flowing and water in good supply.
Some fisher folk were enjoying the morning here too.
Thanks to Woodiebro for placing this good sized cache here, no worries about floods with this placement.

After retiring some years ago the only thing that gets the ageing Bushfire out of bed early these days are either an early morning fire call or to get ready for a long days caching or a chance of a FTF.
Today it was a long days caching with my good mates the suscoe cachers to Miners Rest, Campbelltown,
Smeaton, lunch in Creswick at the Bakery and then gained a lot of smiley faces in the area while here.
Worked our way back to the highway and then to Ballan and then back to Geelong.
Terrific weather for this late in April and no DNF's but 28 finds. You have to love that.
We were very surprised to see the river was indeed running even though not very much.
It must be a great asset to have in your backyard. Great location.
Thanks Woodiebro for showing us this spot.

What better way to spend Boxing Day caching rather than dealing with the hundreds of bargain hunters shopping in the frenzy of post xmas sales! We decided to head north to clean up unfound caches as far as Tullaroop Reservoir in the company of Wozzle68.
This was the our last cache heading north today before heading back towards Ballarat. With the short walk taken care by the fitter Triton we soon had added our names to the log.
Thanks Woodiebro for showing us this picturesque location.

A much cooler day today for a Boxing day clean-up of some of the caches north of home and this is well north . Thanks for the great cache in a very nice location Woodiebro!
Found this one today after attending an event in Maryborough. We decided to head out into the back areas of Smeaton/Mt Cameron areas to collect a few caches to clear out this bit of the district. We love a good old cache that has survived the ages. By its excellent condition it should last for many more years to come yet. A lovely spot by the creek this was. Took a few minutes just to take it in.

What a beautiful and tranquil place. I had to stay here for a bit taking in the sounds of the water and the frogs. Thanks for bringing me here and Tftc. P.s fave point from me.
Found with the geo husband and geokids and the geodogs too. Wanted to do this for awhile but didn't want to do it alone with the kids near the creek. Also summer poses the risk of those nasty tiger snakes. So what better day to do it than international geocaching day! Nice big hide. TFTC!
Out and about today for an arvo drive with with the two geokids (aged 4 & 6). What fascinating places geocaching brings you. We really enjoyed exploring here and it was such a lovely drive in with beautiful views. A nice easy find and we were off back to the creek to explore. Adding some pics. A beautiful spot - thanks for bringing us here

This was our closest un-found cache but as it is all by itself and not near any roads we generally take, it has taken us a while to get here. Finally today was the day and we loved it. Only our second ammo tin ever found and such an awesome little spot! Thanks Woodiebro!

What a fantastic spot! Watched HEMS 3 fly over as I was at GZ. Not one for people with weak ankles/knees. Very slippery when wet too!! Had good grip on my boots. TFTC ! Took Millies Kookaburra TB. Will drop it off as far as I can! Good luck Millie!!

On our search today we found the general location, but as the river, which was very pleasant and picturesque, was flowing a little too much for a rock hopping river crossing we missed GZ by about 30 mtrs. If we find ourselves in the area again we shall check out the water level and try again if conditions are more accommodating, not in summer though, with the possibility of the Joey Blakes.
Beautiful place with excellent views of the river as the name suggests. Geo-family liked to cling up the slope and over the rocks. Love an ammo can and will make this a fav point. Took pliers as a handy geo tool and left Millie the Kookaburra TB. She will be good to keep an eye of the Joe Blake's in the vicinity although not many likely through the winter months so perhaps Millie will want to move north to a warmer climate very soon! TFTC Wooliebro.
Left the medal took a screwdriver! Awesome spot if I don't fall in on the way back to the car!
Now that's an ammo box and log book! Nice location and quiet too, probably due in part to the lateness of the day and also being a normal working day - except for us that is!

Beautiful spot, great cache, much better quality hide. Wish they were all like this!!
This was a lovely spot and the water was bubbling along peacefully. I took the high road but soon realised a low approach would be better..
Hadn't read the cache notes so I was surprised at the large container. I would rather find these than those micros.
Thanks for bringing me to such a lovely spot Woodiebro

What an absolutely stunning location ....I'm new to the area, so really appreciate geocaching for taking me to some of the local hidden gems. Great cache, great location .....tnln cheers
at 6.45pm. Magnificent little area. I parked near the bridge and did the stepping stone river crossing. It would be a good area for a dip. The cache is an excellent size, well stocked and a great log book. I noticed that this cache will have it's 10 year anniversary in May this year. Good Effort. So this is the quality of caches 10 year ago!! The standard of caches has dropped somewhat since. This is a favourite. TFTC Woodiebro TNLN.
I arrived here just after dawn and the sun's rays where just reaching into the valley. I approached from the top and I was glad I was here in the cool of the morning. I joined the local rock hopping roos bounding down the slope till the GPS counted down to zero. Good coordinates made this an enjoyable search, thanks
At last a cooler day during our stay in Maryborough. We were not sure how to approach this one so we attacked from both top and bottom. Half way turned out to be the answer. Another out of the way spot in a quiet area we have not previously visited.

The kids and I had a nice climb up to this one while pregnant geo wife kept an eye out for snakes. Awesome views of the fast flowing river. Thanx for bringing us here.
Which way to attack this one?? From above or below????Found with The 2 Wanderers and Tilley TB. TFTC
Our first cache of the day while out with Kinkell1. No jo blakes today thank goodness you must have scared them away for us Sully1. Didn't know which angle to attack this one by but went in one way and came out out another with almost loosing Mr Wanderer on the way. It certainly has beautiful views and the river was flowing quite rapidly.

Along with bogonghazy, sadly we had to leave this one go today. I'd been here a few years ago with Geo Kids, and left it go that day also. 70 odd metres from GZ, Eagle eyes Phil (thank goodness) spotted a decent size Joe Blake and that was it for me. He was keen to continue on, but common sense (if he has any) prevailed. I couldn't contemplate driving to the closest hospital with a snake bite victim in the passenger seat. I'll be back, but next time it's sure to be in Winter. Third time lucky Few muggles about on the river fishing and enjoying the scenery.
Funny how the previous finder seemes to have a future in fortune telling.
After a cuppa on the river with Sully1, we made our way to the top of the hill to park the car and make the 80m walk to GZ.
The waist high grass wasn't a deterrant, but I'd only gone about 10m and stopped to look for a better path. Lying beside me was a 5ft Brown snake, thankfully facing the other way with his head buried in a tussock.
I took a couple of quick photos with my iphone, and backtracked to the road to find another way down. But Sully1 would have none of it, refusing to let me go, as she didn't want to carry me to the car, or drive like a maniac to hospital, in the off-chance he had a bigger brother.
We'll be back when it's a little cooler, and we're wearing long pants.
Thanks Woodiebro, the cuppa was good anyway

Great spot, came here fishing as a kid with the family. Well known snake country. Take care in the warmer weather. TNLN
Looks like the floods knocked a bit of capping off the edge of the flood-way, otherwise it has stood the test. TFTC
I had the whole place to myself for the 15 minutes it took me to get to the cache, read through some logs and drive out of there again. A nice spot made better by the great weather, and I didn't have any trouble with the hide, I think I was having a good run on that day.
Hooray! Finally got this one after a previous false start (due to bridge works at the time). It is a delightful location, with excellent views of Tullaroop Creek (ideal for some B&W photography) especially as you approach the cache location. You can clearly see where the violence of floodwaters has passed through. The Eucalypts along the creekbank are gorgeous too. After a brisk search by Dylan 7a (who has much better eyes than this plodder) had the well hidden cache to hand. Cache is fine condition (untroubled by weather events). Thank you to 'Woodiebro' for the cache and its beautiful location. TNLN.

We had a bit of fun getting to this cache. Coming from the west and hoping the Road Closed sign wasn’t for real, we pressed on. The unexpected appearance of the river valley full of water was amazing. The water was flowing strongly under the newly constructed crossover. With a water tanker accessing the water, we tentatively had a look around noting the substantial amount of debris from recent floods. We decided to proceed out of the river area and back up onto the plain to the east, where we eventually sighted more workers maintaining the road. With the water tanker now behind us we decided it was OK to return and look for the cache where we found (considering the age of the cache) a very well stocked container. Given the cache owner has been interstate for some time, is someone else looking after this cache? Hopefully the surrounding area will be returned to its former natural state once the crossing and road maintenance are completed.

Given the cache owner has been interstate for some time, is someone else looking after this cache? Hopefully the surrounding area will be returned to its former natural state once the crossing and road maintenance are completed.

Approached GZ but quite a lot activity by workmen repairing and laying a new ford across Creek - they did not seem impressed with our presence, so a discreet withdraw took place before we attempted to look for cache in order not to give away that cache was nearby. The October rains must have been fierce with the water volumes along Tullaroop Creek! Will visit again once the new ford is in place.
the flood didnt get this one, they are starting to fix the ford so it will be easyer to get too now
the river had flooded and the bridge was washed away. not sure if the cache is still there or not
Found while on journey to a blues concert at Dunolly with Mrs Cv. Lovely location with the river flowing quite strongly today. TFTC, TNLN.

First we attempted this from the wrong side of the river, then we drove to the top of the hill, the third option would have been wiser. Anyway enjoyed the scramble and the views. Enjoyed reading the logs before making my way back up. Swapped a bracelet for a coaster that will remind me of this adventure each time I sit down for a cuppa. TFTC and the adventure.
TFTC & the walk & opportunity to see a beaut spot, the joy of caching, should have brought a fishing rod.
We found the cache quickly. We have a great view on the river.

thanks for the find, certainly a great spot to return to to relax by the side of the stream. Great spot.definately no need to risk your safety on this one
Well I arrived and I was the only person here for the duration of my stay. Should have brought a picnic along, very peaceful and pleasant spot. Plenty of water, grassy banks, easy cache find. TNLNSL TFTC
The cache page was definitely right about this being a very peaceful place to sit and just watch the river amble by below . While we were taking in the scenery a couple of black wallabies came by blissfully unaware of our presence. We will have to take the owners word that it is a nice place to swim as it was the last thing we were thinking of on this cool winter's afternoon.

Geat spot. Plenty of water flowing today which rather contrasts with the farm dams in the surrounding area. They all appear completely dry. Nice easy find and a great cache, well stocked. No swaps. Many thanks, Woodiebro, for leading me to this place I would otherwise never have known about. Reckon I'll be back with the fly rod one of these days. (When the season opens, of course.)
Found 11.00am
Great drive in to the area wondered about the best place to park the car but turned out that anywhere by the river was good. The walk to GZ was not too dificult just a bit steep in places, the cache hiding spot was east to see about 20m away. Really good sized container stuffed full of some great things.

found 16:00 Easter Saturday ... initially approached it from above but it got too steep & tried again from below which was much easier. A beautiful spot, and dropped off a travel bug
Great to see the river flowing well after the recent rain. Parked near the river which meant a longer but easier walk to GZ. Great cache size too. TNLN thanks woodiebro
Couldn't find after about a 40 minute search as GPS could not get a fixwere very dissapointed being an hour away from home and reading all these fantastic logs. Great spot to sit down relax and have a picnic. Thanks anyway Woodiebro.
6th find of the day at 1:42pm. Accompanied by Wheelchair Access as Navigator and scribe on our weekly caching expedition, I was goin to stop on the lower side but the navigator told me to keep drivng, easy find but it sure was a climb back to the car. TNLN, Signed Log, Thanx Woodiebro....
3rd of 6 for our Maryborogh expedition.
Found @ 1.30pm. Find # 180
Decided to continue along the road from Bridge, and found that I was actually driving cross country!! Not bad in a little Festiva!!! My wife would have had a FIT!!!
Found easily enough, but my real joy came when, knowing where the cache would be hidden, I directed my 4y/o caching mad son to look over there somewhere. A delighted yelp came moments later with ME FOUND IT!!! His first find solo!!! Memories are often MADE!
Thanks for the invitation to see the views, they were indeed spectacular!! The river was quite low though, lets hope the drought breaks soon!!
Thanks Woodiebro!!

What a beautiful spot, and the river is actually flowing. We thought that this is one of the best stocked caches we have seen and done for quite a while so we added to the range of goodies.

What a great spot on a very muggy day. The geogirls paddled and played while we located the very large hide. Took the matches, hat and balls. Left luggage label, occy strap and squishy koala. Then we all had a paddle and a cuppa. Lovely spot tnx for bringing use here.
Beautiful veiw of the river from the cache, wish i had something to swim in though!

Found at 4.30pm GAFF1. Well there certainly is water here - nice clear cool water. There must be a spring nearby as most of the waterways in the district that we came across today and yesterdaty were nearly dry. We were told by Woodiebro of this special spot a few years ago when we met them at a cemetery cache nearby. It took us all of this time to finally do it and we are glad to have experienced the lovely spot. We were also hopefull of finding some geocahcing stickers, but they must have gone years ago. Thanks Woodiebro for showing us this spot. Took: Marigold seeds, Left: Moose.
Found this one around lunch time & what a nice spot for lunch.
