#15486 - 10:50:00 AM; Day 14 of the great USA and Canada Road Trip with Sol de lune, and the first leg which has taken us from Minneapolis through to Washington DC, is nearly done with our arrival in DC last night. Today we are visiting Arlington National Cemetery before heading back across the river to the National Mall.Collected this virtual as we made our way around Arlington, amazed by the size of the place and visiting some of the notables as we went. Gathered the required information, which was sent to the CO to get the OK.Greetings from Australia and TFTC TheKayakPack

We were off to the USA and Canada for a few weeks of holiday, and thoroughly enjoyed traveling around, and visiting the many different places and caches we came across



Thsi one was next up on our list for today in our walking adventure around Arlington. We really enjoyed the walk up to this one, and reading about the history here was very interesting. After a quick read, we soon had the information we needed, just as a 21 gun salute started off in the gully below [^]

Up this way from Mississippi for a school I had to attend in Pennsylvania and this was a good stop off on our way home . Craftinmomma and I Had so much fun walking around Arlington and seeing some great sites today watching the Ceremony at the Unknown Soldier Site and just taking in the beauty of this place and the vastness of it also ! Really Enjoyed the Virtual s today and a lot of the sites in DC ! We appreciate all the work done to create the virtual s and keeping them operating . We Thank You !!! Email on the way .

Had a wonderful time visiting Arlington today with my Hubby Woodduck. We stopped here to visit after going to his school in PA. Thanks for this really nice Virtual. We enjoyed it.

Found it at 1128 hrs during a long hot walk through Arlington this morning.

Another interesting bit of history, and a lovely spot to discover. A good reminder of the price to be paid....

Ce matin, nous avons marché un bon 4 heures dans le cimetière national d'Arlington pour faire les 5 aches... Ouf! il faisait chaud et nous sommes fatigués mais heureux d'avoir réussi.Wink

We decided to go to Arlington National Cemetery after a long day of geocaching. This is such a special place for all those that served. Thanks and we will send in the answers shortly.

I've been to Arlington several times and didn't know this was here. Hard to believe what I read about the number buried here. Will email answers to CO. Thanks for bringing me to this spot.

I decided that on my day off I was either going to go geocaching or relax at home playing Xbox. Then I thought “Why not do both?” I loaded the GPS with all the caches in Arlington Nation Cemetery (ANC) and began my day of caching. If you plan to do all the caches in ANC make sure you bring great walking shoes and know where the restrooms are in the cemetery. I also ran into a few caches from Austria during my hike through ANC. Thanks for the caches and the history.

In DC sightseeing and got to spend a good part of a day at Arlington. Wouldn't have seen nearly as much as we did without these cool virtuals. Really enjoyed seeing some of the history we would've otherwise missed. Answers emailed. Thanks for the fun virtual!

Our first full day here in Washington DC. After visiting the Phillips Collection we caught a cab up to Arlington. The tour here is sure worth while. Found GZ and was amazed at the story which I’m sure a lot of people don’t know about. Info gathered and sent to CO. Well worth visiting this location among so many here at Arlington!

Today I took off to a bigger hike, enjoying the sun and air. Started off in the Roosevelt Island and then moved on to the Arlington Cemetary. That was a really good portion of exercise.

I enjoyed the views provided in this cache and this was at least one cache that was solvable without walking for miles to solve

We found this cache at our eastcoast trip from NYC --> Washington D.C --> Miami. We had a great vacation in a great country and we were happy to did a little bit geocaching. It´s good for the stats. Greets from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany.

Thanks for this virtual cache. Xiadog and I spent the day during the "shutdown" visiting and solving virtual caches at the cemetery. We would never have seen this monument. This is what I love about geocaching. It takes you to new places you would not have found on your own.

Grabbed while visiting Arlington on the bus tour. Glad this one didn't require a lot of complicated stuff in order to log it. Really just wanted to reflect on the visit here. Thanks.

I am not a fan of complicated virtual geocaches, so thank you for this one. It was too hot for me to do the other ones that required writing and calculating...especially when you are with non geocaching family members...plus, this is not exactly the place to be doing that kind of activity. I was more into reflecting and appreciating.

The Arlington Cemetery has a lot to see and to remember, from the past or from the present.

This week one of us had to be in the DC area for a scientific conference. After the conference ended I had one day left to wander around Washington DC and to look for some of the many caches around there. As I had been in DC before I decided to start visiting the places I had not been before. After walking around the Theodore Roosevelt Island I walked along the Potomac to the entrance of Arlington Cemetery. This is one of the first virtuals I encountered and it wasn't hard to solve it. I emailed the answers to the cache owner. Thanks for showing me this place and thanks for the virtual!

11727 15:46:00 Spent the first part of the day grabbing some challenge caches and then the latter part wandering round DC again. Grabbed quite a lot of virtuals (there aren't many back home in England, so it's nice to be able to get some when you get the chance).
