I'm logging this as a find as we found part of the remaining cache, thus cache was loaded into my GPS before it was archived, we stopped on our trip down the Oonadatta track it was a really cool historical place that both geo husband and myself really enjoyed even the geo children who sat in the car looked out with wonder in their eyes, I took lots of photos and geo husband looked for signs of the cache. This was before we knew the reviewer had archived it. He found GZ and s hole full of water further awY a likely container that was broken and eventually some paper that looked like smudged faded logs. We had nothing with us to replace the cache otherwise we would have. I'm not sure TFTC really matters but thanks anyway TB along for a visit photo uploaded date will be corrected tomorrow when I'm on a computer to edit it

If this cache has disappeared, I will archive it unless another member can re-establish/locate it. Cheers, Ian Mac
Found as a part of TheKellyGang, writing this as a genaric log as I was a part of TheKellyGang and am now out on my own.
If you do not agree with this you are more than welcome to delete the log.

The cache was easy t find but the container was full of water, I emptied it out but the log was unsignable. Raised the container out of the water. Thanks
On our way north, fortified with camel burgers and ready for a lot more driving, this was the last cache we found before the weather hit - big fat raindrops fell just as we closed the cache container, and we had to dash back to the car! The dark moody clouds made the ruins look more atmospheric, and there was some impressive art painted on one of the walls too (see pic).
This was the 5th find of a total of 49 caches found by Boxer and 5 Vietnam veterans club member mates, on a 10 day trip up to Marree, then onto Mt Dare, across the Simpson desert to Birdsville, then back down to Marree, then home to Kadina. A very interesting and at times very challenging trip. Stopping to find caches helped break up the trip and get out and stretch the legs. Thanks for the cache hide.
TFTC and thank you for the great location. Caches like this make it a worthwhile activity. We found this on our journey to the Pilbara region of WA. A nice stop along the way.
We found this cache on the eve of it's eleventh birthday!
Great to see a quality cache out here, and always interesting to visit the remains of a bygone era.
Thanks Mac & Missus.

The amount of ruins we have seen is pretty amazing. Nothing anywhere like this exists up in Qld. Sometimes a rundown timber and corregated iron structure, but not the extensive stone and aggregate ruins of down this way.
Easy find.

I was headed up to Port Augusta for a kayak event but somehow afterwards I forgot to stop driving.
1,700kms later and after 83 smileys including 1 FTF were locus cache'd, 1 event attended and sadly 7 DNFs and a dead roo, I arrived back home with both the camera and the phone full of pictures of this amazing country in which we live .
A nice quick find on my way home. So many historic sites out here and each one woudl have tales of lives lived, parties held and work done.

Found with hubby. Hard to imagine what it would have been like in its hey day, but an interesting spot today too.
A great location. Must have been a bustling spot when the train stopped here. TFTC
A nice quick drive by after an excellent meal of road kill at the pub. Interesting ruins here, with the range in the background.
TNLN, thanks for the cache.
TNLN, thanks for the cache.
During our trip through South Australia heading to Yulara via the Oodnadatta track we certainly would try to find some caches. Luckily this is one of them. Nice hidden. TFTC.
First cache found on a long trip South. Great way to break the trip. Kids took koala and marble and left cow and ball. TFTC.
Found by Team Ladava with our Geocaching sister and brother-in-law, baby&Mrs gopher who we met up with in the Flinders Ranges after their two month trek around the Top End.
They had found this one a few years earlier.
We wandered around the ruins for a few minutes and discussed the isolation of railway locations like this.
Locations like this are 'the icing on the cake' of Geocaching with the locals hosting us anonymously to their favourite spots.

Our thanks to Mac and Missus for the cache and bringing us to this location.

Another nice break from the road on the way north, and an easy find. It had turned into a lovely day after some early drizzle.
Pretty windy day, but I'm told this is normal. These ruins and others like combine together to make a very interesting piece of history. TFTC
Easy find whilst staying in the gorge nearby. Took rubics cube, left ball. Thanks Mac & Missus
This was a quick drive by today as we had a million more miles to go!!! The concrete surround was full of water as was the container but the log was dry in it plastic bag. Drained pit and container then signed log. TFTC.
As we had been in Darwin for a cousins Wedding sadly we are now heading home Back to SA, wished we had more time to stay but driving back to SA is going to be a few long days and Nights. Found this one on our Journey home it has been great doing a few quick caches while we have been in Darwin and on the road on the way back to SA, wished we could have done more tho but time has run out quickly. So Back in SA we are going to pick up few quick ones on the way past. TFTC

Hot hot hot. Have taken the two travel bugs that didn't line up to the inventory and will redistribute. Ps watch out for the fly population.
Found today by Mr & Mrs 1SR at 1225 on our way from Arkaroola to Wilpena. A quick find. Took TB to move on.

Another set of ruins showing what a harsh country this was for the old timers & still is don't forget. Left TB to be passed on ; TFTC
Found 10:21am , find # 1481
We are on a holiday touring the Flinders Ranges. After leaving Rawnsley Park Station just south of Wilpena Pound, we travelled north and then west through the Brachina Gorge and arrived at Parachina. After staying the night at the Prairie Hotel we drove north to Leigh Creek, and then east to to stay at the Arkaroola Wilderness Resort. After two days there we drove a short distance back towards Copley and stayed for two nights at the Iga Warta Aboriginal Cultural Centre. After that we drove up to Marree in order to take a flight over Lake Eyre and the suurounding district. We stayed the night at the Marree Hotel and then the next morning set off south on our return journey to Melbourne, with overnight stops at Peterborough and Ouyen. This cache was found during the trip.
What stories these ruins could tell. It is sad t realise all this is slipping away from as time passes.
The cache was in good condition.
Thanks Mac & Missus,

Got here late last night and decided to park around the back and get the cache in the morning. Had a quick meal then went to bed hoping the trucks wouldn’t be too noisy in the night. It was very cold, one of the coldest nights we’ve had so far on our trip. Only heard two trucks and they were early this morning but traffic soon built up and it was time to head for Adelaide. Ruins were interesting. Cache was empty so we added some toys and things. TFTC
tried for this one this time last had been muggled, found in its new spot with DEMON41 while on dirtbike ride thanks tnln
A quick find on our way home from our Northern Flinders holiday.
Thanks Ian Mac
Thanks Ian Mac
Quick stop and a leg stretch on the way home from a two week outback exploration. TFTC
It has been interesting to follow the Ghan ruins in various places. It would have also been interesting to take the Ghan but as it goes only once a week, it didn't fit my schedules... . Thanks for the cache says hippihiiri .

As a Previous finder I Had a good look for the cache...Replaced cache in new location. Sent Mac & Missus, the new co-ords...
We went there as when we prepared for our caching adventure to the north, it wasnt listed as missing. So we hunted around for a while, and then decided it was definately not around, so we spent quiet a while taking some lovely photos of this place. Even if the cache wasnt there, Im glad caching brought us to the Ghan ruins. Thanks.
Owner cannot get to area for a while due to knee operation. Has been temporarily disabled - could next visitor please put a new container, etc, at site - Thanks - Mac & Missus
Had no luck, found a likely spot but nothing, had a good search & decided like previous cachers it has gone missing. Enjoyed looking at the ruins.
NOt that we would spend too much time looking after reading previous logs. Nice stop anyway.
had alook on way back from LAKE TORRENS while on annual dirt bike ride in the flinders, looked for awhile with DEAN B but nothing, a few empty jars but no geo !
Stopped here before reading previous logs and had a quick look (after walking through the mud left behind from rain the day before). We weren't having any success and after looking at last log we gave upfairly quickly so we could head on our way.
11.00.
Checked high & low but wherever it is we couldnt find it.
Found the spot where we think it should have been but no cache.
Found an empty screw top but no jar.
May need checking to see if its gone.
Thanks for bringing us here.

Been past a few times before we found out about geocaching. This trip we decided to find a few caches in the area. TFTC.
Quick find, but as mentioned previously, log is very wet. This cache needs replacing. TFTC
I love visiting these old ruins. It makes me think of what things were like back in those days. TFTC
The log book in the actual cache is mush !!
The paper within the plastic bag that has been used for recent logs is damp.
Sealed the bag the best I could and wrapped tightly so to stop any more moisture getting in before returning to its hiding spot.

Returning from a camping trip north, dropped in for a quick find.
Lots of history through this area left in ruins but I'm sure they have plenty of stories to tell.
Look at the the ruins and then turn around for one fantastic view of the Filinders Ranges !

The log is very wet so we could not leave our mark. We did not have any replacements to leave either.

Cache is small, eclipse tin. Interesting ruins, Its a shame there is no information of the history of the railway, etc at the site. TFTC
Stopped off to check out the ruins, found the cache and signed the log book. TFTC
Easy find. Been past many times and never stopped.
It is a pity the old buildings are left to just fall down.
We left a soldier.
There is no container, just the zip bag.

These would have been great old buildings.
Cache was only in a plastic zip bag....probably better in a container.
Moisture might get in during the winter.

Found on a boys weekend heading up to Coopers Crossing with Parrot and Skippy. Grabbed on the trip up before reaching Marree and having to turn around and come straight back due to a closed road. Damn, no ferry crossing this trip.

have to say that this is the smallest "regular" I've come across. Quick find on our way up to see lake Eyre in bloom. had to be quick as another caravan pulled up to take photos of the ruins.TFTC
The ninetieth find on our post Sunny Side Up caching tour.
Quickly found and we were soon on our way again. Getting closer to the end of the day, and in need of a camp site!

Found 12:30 by eTrix & kids during our Flinders caching expedition. Not in an obvious spot, we were just about to give up on account of the flies and grumbling tums and continue on to the excellent eating house to the South. Took UK 10p bit and left an "I heart surprise gigs badge" from our previous find. Dried off the damp contents and then placed cache back with a transparent protective covering.
Found at 12:40pm with Harrowang, pretty bleak today, guess it must have been a welcome comfort stop along the way once, plenty of fireplaces. Eclipse tin was wet but still there despite the rain. Took eraser, left chinese coin. Headed on to Lake Eyre. TFTC Ian Mac
Found at 12.40pm with Markndee. Geopa from Harrowang found this one eventually. There has been some flooding here early this month, but the cache has survived. We spread out the logs to dry in the ruins while we made our swaps. We dried out the eclipse tin as best we could whilst sheltering from the wind in the ruins. TN. Left: music badge. TFTC. Photographic opportunities again arose here. On our way to Marree and Lake Eyre.
Easy Find, our 12th find for our trip to Diamontina NP and now on return loop

Visiting from Ithaca, NY the Cornell-SAM herp crew picked this up on their way back south. Thanks for the large cache and the stop on this long adventure.
Found at 10am during our 4WD Club 2 week trip through the Flinders and Gammon Ranges. Our trip leader is "Mac & Missus" but we found this without insider knowledge! I was with friend "Are We There Yet!" and we were very pleased to find this one. Well hidden. Four or five muggles were there when we arrived but we took pictures and wandered around until they left. Thanks for the hide, "Mac & Missus" Good location. TNLNSL.
