Today was day 2 of naughtybunny and Chookster's big geocaching adventure around the Fleurieu Peninsula. Really enjoyed the scenery, walks and of course... geocaching! I've always want to check out Talisker Mine as I'm a geo and involved with exploration. Finally made it! This area didn't disappoint. We spent some time wandering around the ruins and imagining what it would have been like around these parts. The cache was found pretty quickly and it was good to get an oldie. TNLN. Cheers.
Found on a trip down South with Chookster. This was high on his bucket list, so we got it in early before the predicted foul weather hit. Really interesting area, I enjoyed wandering around the ruins and picturing it as it must have been.TFTC
Another cache on the list for it's age, we don't have any for this month in Tassie so I was very pleased to find this one. Thanks for keeping this one alive. This was the first trip to the mainland for this group of Tasmanians in a while, we flew over on the 24th and left early on the 3rd. With 4 days in Goolwa followed by 4 in Glenelg we managed to get some caching done in different areas and pull in a select list of caches we all almost all needed, old caches were on the list as normal but also some different D/Ts with some high fav pointed cache making up the remainder. The trip didn't start well with Qantus losing a bag which made us rearrange a couple of days but we got some 4WDing in and a even some driving on the beach to get a couple of different caches, boat trip to Adventure Island was a great start on the day of the Mega too.All caches were stamped "Team Tassie" which consisted of myself, gooseandegg, Budgietas and Tassie TrekkersFound on 28/02/2024 at 11:57:00 thanks to alex for placing this cache for me to find. Still on the oldies trail, grabbing as many pre 2005 caches as we could. We followed the track down the side of the paddock until it was time to turn into the bush. We noticed a fire had run through here but the regrowth was vigorous. The cache was found after a bit of a search and we made a different path out. Thanks alexThe usual trio of myself, stainless steel rat and Budgietas was joined by Tassie Trekkers for The Great Leap Forward trip. We decided to cache down south around Goolwa, Victor Harbour and extended reaches for a few days, before basing ourselves in Glenelg for the second half of the trip where we cached around the city, the hills and the Barossa Valley with a highlight being a couple of hours on Adventure Island. Many thanks to the Mega Committee, all the helpers and many local COs who kept up busy and entertained. Most logs were stamped with Team Tassie.
On the drive to Adelaide we were targeting old caches and this was one that was required for one our ausmer challenges. TftcA long days drive toward from goolwa overnight to Glenelg via quite a few caches down towards kangaroo island. Some brilliant caches for the day including a walk through a cave at the cache surrender the booty and walk around the oldest EarthCache in South Australia at sugarloaf. It was a very pleasant day including a number of beach walks. Luckily it was a perfect day for these walks. Tftc
Today is day 5 of our SA Great Leap Forward Mega adventure. Based at Goolwa, Mr T, Gooseandegg , Stainless-Steel-Rat and Budgietas concentrated on finding caches with appropriate D/T 's to fill their Fizzy Grids and this was one of them. We signed the log Team Tassie. We found a variety of hides with varying degrees of difficulty.Enjoyed caching in this area, cache and contents were in good condition. Many thanks to all CO's for your cache placement.
Found on the way past today while touring around this end of the Fleurieu Peninsula. Looks like this area has sprung back well looking at all the back trees around. Short search and the cache was in hand, thanks.Find #6557 on 3 Jan 2024.TFTC alex!SAs Leap Year Event - GCA1DNA - Feb 29th, 2024. Keep the date free!
Took the short walk to this cache. More of a bush bash for the last 90 meters than i expected. quick find. Good to get a old cache 2003. Found with Mogni. Today it was a afternoon of caching with the virtual at Cape Jervis being the target. More km's walked than expected, those fire tracks aren't straight or flat. Not many caches found today but those caches you never detour to or stop for were the ones we aiming for on route to Cape Jervis.
Caravan trip to Deep Creek and surrounds, with DIYminusi.Great walk in, heaps of wildflowers out at the moment.TFTC
A very enjoyable day caching towards Talisker and Cape Jervis from Middleton grabbing any caches we passed which we hadn’t already found.
Many thanks for the hide alex

Took off in a different direction for a bit of scenery and a cache or two along the way.
All excited we charged on down here for a nice old cache - prob an ammo can going by the age and the cacher... ohhh . Well I reckon the original might still be there somewhere, as Alex tended to put out tough caches, but maybe the burnoff peeps found it and salvaged too. Lucky for us there was a recent replacement - a bright red plastic thing that won't withstand fire but is certainly easy to spot against the burnt bits! More a small now too.
Sincere appreciation goes to alex for original location of the cache on our SA geo-map and to Mr Gridge98 for so kindly popping out something for us to find to avoid a dnf

Caution! Caching is a very hazardous activity!
Look out for sand, mud, snakes, surprise cliffs, roos, wombats, things falling from trees, bulldust, and floods, and try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins and don't fall off your ladder...
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- and do watch out for germs and bugs !!! . [xx(]
Make Travel Bugs the Only bugs you share and pass on
Keep a safe distance - cache the countryside
Truly fantastic of all those placing quality caches out and about around the country areas,
in sensible safe places especially! - it keeps our game fun, and interesting
Appreciate you reading all this extra addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere out there, apparently! You win a virtual smiley for the effort and getting to the end of the log Maybe if I worked out where I could do it and go back to normal logs again ! If you find the challenge let me know and we can put an end to these long logs !!!

Replaced this one today,
We parked up and made the walk into this one, the area has had a recent fire through the area but a lot of new regrowth, we placed a cache close to the co ords as per our photo.
This weekend we headed south to the fleurieu peninsula for a camping night away and to also attend a CITO at Victor Harbour plus find a few caches along the way, total of 70 for the trip and a nice 2 days away.
Thanks for the cache

7 years of travelling Australia and yet we have never visited Normanville so we are here now to rectify that. With clouds overhead, and some rain overnight forecast for the day, we decided to visit to Cape Jervois and surrounds, our first time in this area.

Found 2/1/21 @ 3:48 pm
A quick walk down the fenceline, about 40m of Bush bashing got us to GZ, then the cache was quickly in hand. Surprised with the weather we didn't fall over a snake in here today, but we got lucky and didn't see any.
Thanks Alex & Jock for bringing us here

Followed in on a path of sorts, all a bit scratchy and sticky but easy enough. A quality container greeted us not quite at the one we expected but easily located. Love an oldie!
Trip log:
When it comes to our trips for GreyHams and myself, opportunity seems to play a big part in the timings.. be it an event, sales on airfares or car hire, in this case it was my visiting SA and being there that worked so well for this one!
So it was a drive up to Adelaide to collect GreyHams from the airport and then a trip that would see us ending up in Mount Gambier in the South east of SA, close to my family holidaying nearby and conveniently located that GreyHams could fly home to his. Perfect when a plan just comes together!!!
The primary target of the trip was counties, about 21 in total and we had almost the complete opposite need of counties from each other. Of course we also targeted other caches of importance, oldies dominated the state but there was DT, virtuals, webcams, Ausmer and types. If your cache made our list it had a quality we were wanting, or as GH says, we were waiting for a ferry or a plane!
What a variation in the places we visited, from Adelaide's suburbs out into the hills, the ferry across to Kangaroo Island for the night and the many coastal regions through Victor Harbour and Goolwa. Through Murray Bridge and out into Mallee Country to Lameroo before turning and finding a great bed and meal at the Keith Hotel. Continuing South into the very bottom of the SE of SA before returning north slightly to make the plane, in time and that arrived! So much wild life through the areas and locations of interest, it was great!
Had to love the Santas through the Adelaide hills, seems that stuffing a Santa suit is an art form all of its own, and entertained us for a long time! Kayaking to an island on Kangaroo Island was fun and although the donut from Port Elliot bakery had to pass with masses already queueing... the chunky steak pie from Willunga Bakery might not have been as good as a pepper pie later but it was still damn good! Its the little things sometimes!!!
Many thanks for your cache that led us about on a varied and very enjoyable trip!

This trip came together due in the best way! Aquilus1 was over in SE SA visiting family, yet had a bunch of counties unfound between Adelaide CBD and Victor Harbour, I was missing all the counties south & east of Strathalbyn. What could be better than flying over from Canberra and being picked up at ADL airport and knocking of ALL the counties all the way to Mt Gambier, where I flew out. Last minute Covid shenanigans in Sydney & Melbourne threatened to derail it, but all good.
Of course our trips are more than just counties....we have a range of targets: Oldies, webcams/virtuals, larges with challenges and D/T thrown in for fun. If you are reading this log, then this cache had some quality we were hunting (or we were waiting for ferries or planes!)
We saw such a change in countryside, from Adelaide Hills, to Kangaroo Island, up to Borrika and then down to 'the Mount'....and the Santas! I can see areas where christmas lights arent the done thing, its stuffing your own Santa and posing them in the front garden, saw some very funny examples, we were chuckling for an hour I swear.
South Australia has such a wealth of very old caches, its wonderful. We grabbed lots of oldies and are now just a single find off our Ausmer challenges (just need to get to Melbourne or Brisbane for the last).

I came for a drive on this different Anzac Day to do some caching in the area. One thing that hadn't changed was that it was raining on Anzac Day. I took a few minutes to to find the right Yakka and the cache. A very well made cache that will last. TFTC
Nomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children. Where ever possible, we will maintain your cache as we travel.
We have been on Kangaroo Island for the past two months, but recent fire events have chased us back to the mainland. Camped at Rapid Bay for a week or so, today we just explored the area.
A visit to Talikser Whisker was just what I needed. I'll have ice with mine!
A forage through the bush eventually had us a the right whisker, further foraging found a well presented cache container. Thanks Alex & Jock for the hide..... fave point for the hide.

Well what an adventure, after sneezing about 50 times from the greenery and having not just my nose running but my eyes too. I eventually got to help hunt this one down. Dennis eventually found the well hidden cache.

What a horror this one felt, a bit of a bush bash in followed by us lifting many many skirts, checking our co-ords and lifting more skirts. If you give your GPS time to settle the co-ords are fairly good, if you go by what your GPS tells you when you first arrive it will be approx 5 m out. I was so pleased to hear hubby say he had found the cache. SL TFTC
Jesswrigley and I were staying for an extended weekend just outside Cape Jervis, and today was our final day as we made the return trip back to Adelaide. We geocached around Cape Jervis, walked around the old mining area of Talisker Conservation Park, checked out some wind farms, and then drove back via Port Noarlunga.
I was a little worried about finding this one and thought it would be a difficult one with the two prior DNFs. And despite their advice, we were both wearing shorts and short sleeved shirts. The walk from the road to GZ wasn't the most pleasant as we walked through shrubbery and found natural paths where we could. There were a few bush babies around, and so we began searching. However only a few minutes later, jesswrigley had the find. Oh wow, awesome, that was great. The coordinates seemed to be only out by 5 m for us, so reasonably accurate. Nice to have found this vintage cache, thanks Alex & Jock!

A fair bit of bush bashing to get to this one! Tucked under one of the Yakka, as hinted.
Well that was not worth it hahahaha. Good luck to whoever tries to find that next. Pro tip - don't wear shorts
It was a few weeks ago that Laighside Legends first suggested a trip into Deep Creek in search of a high terrain puzzle final. It was after a bit of persuading we finally found a day with weather that was agreeable with our pursuit and at 9 am we set off. Our first stop was in Myponga to hopefully pick up a cache in a high muggle area that had long taunted Laighside and after a quick find, it wasn’t long before we were in the depths of Deep Creek. After parking the car and finding the obligatory car park trad, we made our way on to the Deep Creek Waterfall trail and we were off. It was a pleasant stroll to gz, though the walk back up wasn’t something I was necessarily looking forward to, as we approached GZ we spotted some muggles, though with Adelaide being Adelaide, they turned out to be Ben’s relatives. Once at gz we navigate our way round the waterfall, making use of the spoiler photos we located a plausible gz and Ben had the cache in hand a short time later, with the log signed and stamped we left the gully in search of further caches. As the hours continued and the find count climbed (excuse the pun) the hills began to take their toll on our weary legs, though the desire to find some much desired caches helped us to push through. It was only when the sun began to dip in the sky and we had found (most of) the caches we had come to find, we decided to call it a day. Though I don’t think my legs could have done that much more walking anyway so this was probably a good thing but not the less, an enjoyable day was had.

Greetings from Brisbane . Having never visited SA before, a weekend trip to Adelaide was planned to see the sights and find some special geocaches you have hidden here.
Day 2: An early start was made to head into the Adelaide Hills before visiting McLaren Vale, Cape Jervis and then down to Victor Harbour. With a few hours of daylight left, I headed back into the city for a few more smilies, then climbed a hill to watch the sun dip below the horizon .
A fair bit of bush bashing was required to get to GZ, and then after some skirt-lifting here and there, the container was located! Nice to find another older one.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache **Alex & Jock**. Discover our TB

Great cache. Only half our group decided to continue the search after the path ran out. Just followed the GPS (every time there was a clearing) and had a great time.
After grabbing caches around Blowhole and Aaron Creek, we decided to grab the Talisker caches before heading home. The walk to this cache was quite overgrown, but traversable . The GPS was a little inaccurate at first due to the tree cover, but the geowife found it after a few minutes. Signed log.
We thought this would be a quick find so left it to last today. The GPSr said to follow the track and then go bush, which we did but the track didnt follow us! We did a big loop around the cache and eventually found it, after many scratches and dead ends. On the way back to the car, we noticed two dead kangaroos along the fence
Some lovely little bushes with dark pink flowers near the cache. A spot to keep well away from if any fires are in the area. But the scrub looking good this bleak May Day.
Thanks for the hide.
Thanks for the hide.
A bIt of bush bashing done and the searching started. Under the fourth one we looked under. And one that we'd walked past on the way in.

What a beautiful area. Found on a drive while camping at Deep Creek. The path in is fairly overgrown and the spiders have been very active with thier web building. Thanks for bringing us here and for the cache.
We are in South Australia for a one week holiday at the Lady Bay Resort at the golf club near Normanville. Day 4 - a day closer to 'home' - south to Cape Jervis and a bit more.
Enjoyed a bit of bush bashing, although the legs got a bit scratched! All OK with the cache.

Day 8 of team Seffnjarah and team Mickjor's trip to Adelaide and beyond. After staying in Cape Jervis overnight I went off to do some caching while the rest of the team members went on a trip to Kangaroo Island for the day.
After an expedition out at Onkaparinga River NP series was aborted due to the stifling 42 degree heat, I called in to to grab a couple of caches including this one. A nice stoll in to GZ but the search took some time until I finally turned up the cache in its hiding spot. TFTC

Any particular yacca? the area has certainly grown back after the bushfire. This is the first cache where I've checked the GPS on the route back to the car!
Found with Hithere77 after a bit of bush bashing and trying to find an easier root. Didn't see Echidna but found his hole.
Searched thoroughly under all the yakka's within cooee of GZ and no luck.

Searched a good 10 minutes, looked at the photos and identified what looked like the right yacca…but no joy.
9th find of day 4 of my June Long Weekend Caching Trip.
Took a slight detour on the way home and cleaned out the caches in this conservation park. Took me about 5 minutes before I finally spotted the hide.

Took some walking for this one. On our way to KI for a few days but stopped off here for 2 days while waiting for friends. This one an easy find not like some others we DNF. Some lovely views, lovely photos. TFTC
Quick find..........out with Taurus00025 & she stated it looks good new......was still growing from the fire.....TFTC
It was a bit hard to find but we had a little startle when we saw a hole in the ground we looked in and there was a little ecidna! !

It was a hot day and a little disconcerting wandering in the bush in our sandals, but the ground reasonably clear so made it to the cache without a sighting of scary slithering things.
Thanks alex, nice hide.
Thanks alex, nice hide.
Great location, great cache, left traveller there as I couldn't help h with his goal
Wasn't actually me. Brisal5 dropped it off as i wanted to get home early in time for work
After 2 nights at Cape Jervis, It was time to head home. And get some caches on the way. Nice walk into the grass trees. Had to go around a few big stands and plad I left a GPS crumb trail to get back out. Thanks alex.
Nice walk through the yacca. My crumb trail is on the GPSr which draws a line as I move along. Very handy if a bit confused about direction when there are no tracks. Easy to follow the line back to the geo-vehicle. Thanks alex.
Almost go ourselves lost venturing off to this one but Roma 123 and I found our way back to the car. Must put down the breadcrumb trail next time or at least mark where the car is. Thanks for the cache
Found on an impromptu caching afternoon with Gemini7.
We got really wet looking for this one, if it wasn't raining it was dripping off the trees, in combination with the spikey Yakka's, we were happy to find it.
Thanks for the cache alex.
Signed Log.
