I was needing a few more Special Tool caches to finish off this month's challenge so I decided to have a walk around the Brisbane Koala Bushlands today. I did the Kevvie Koala loop (2hrs), the Black Top Koala Track and a few other caches in between. All up I walked about 6km in 3.5hrs and found 12 caches (2 DNFs) and 5 AdLabs. After finishing the Kevvie series I drove down to the Koala Bushlands and set off on a loop walk passing by a few caches. I particularly wanted to come out and find this oldie as I still need this month for my Jasmer. It was a rediculously hot winter's day and by the time I reached the top of that little hill I was sweating. A nice easy find of the cache at GZ. With the cracked outer container it was not surprising that there was quite a bit of water in the cache and the log inside the second container was also a bit damp. Thanks Rogainer for placing this cache out here 21 years ago!
Over visiting from NZ and using the time to do as much caching as other commitments allow. Today I had planned a trip to the Koala Bushlands for the Ad Lab and some trads. This one here was a nice quick find, but unfortunately, the lid was cracked and somehow water had even gotten in to the inner container. Emptied it all out and dried contents as much as possible and then replaced in found location. TFTC
Out for a trek around the trails of the Brisbane Koala Bushlands with the aim to find 9 caches of which 2 are required for various challenges Im currently working on.Slowly chipping away at the Jasmer Challenge and finding this cache allows be to cross another month off the list. Cache was located quickly, but was full of water. Great to find and mark off another old cache. Maintenance required: lid of container has perished. Contents full of water. Secondary container holding log also full of water. Drained water out and dried log as best as possible. Thankfully log is Rite-in-the-rain paper. TFTC. TNLN. SL. I had an appointment this morning, so it was not going to be a rush out to find the new caches. However, after my appointment I noticed that the FTFs were still sitting there. So, I thought either way will work for me as I still need a couple of caches for today and if I get the FTF s thats a bonus. First up was the adventure lab and bonus cache, then it was over to the new cache in the Belmont area. While I was there, I got a couple extra caches. Oh, there is still one more new cache, so why not and I drove over to Koala reserve to see if I could get the third ftf. A walk around and I got a couple extra caches as well, not bad for 3 hours of the morning and a nice energetic walk around. I was here today for a ftf that I was chasing. However, there is an extra bonus to attending here today and that is to find the older cache that I forgot to get last time I was here. As I was having issues with the new cache and could not find it, I thought I would do a little circuit and go and find a few others to clear my head. It was a good plan and it helped me find this one easily. Thanks for this cache all good and I signed the log and replaced it as found.
After completing the Adventure Lab, my muggle sister-in-law and I decide to grab a few caches. We did a loop walk finding 4 caches and had one DNF. Thanks to all the COs who have placed caches at this lovely location.
First day of holidays for me, and i thought it would be a good idea to get some exercise knowing that a lot of eating and drinking is imminent. Today, we headed south to find a couple of older caches that will fill a spot on my calendar grid.I had two accompany me today. even greatjustgreat was up for a walk. We started the koala circuit and was pleased to discover an adventure lab along the way, but BKB3 was the real target this morning. A cache placed over twenty years ago. We left the path with a mere 15m to walk and the cache hiding spot was quickly found. There is a protective bag and newer container within the outside container so no issues today signing the dry logbook. Thanks very much for placing this cache all those years ago Rogainer. Cheers
Davinells had a plan, to reach a milestone by the end of the year. But that meant some serious caching, so Ive come to Brisbane where I can cache until I cant walk anymore.I saw plenty of kangaroos and wallabies on my walk through the bushlands today but no koalas unfortunately. This oldie was a target as I was in the area. I noticed I wasnt the only finder today and thanks to them I had a nice dry logbook to sign. Tftc RogainerFind #4940
Found the cache on a nice morning prayer walk. A bit of water in both containers, but was able to sit and let them dry out before sealing up again. TFTC in a beautiful piece of bushland.
And thats a wrap!! This find completes the QLD Oldest and Finest Challenge for me. What a nice cache to finish on too! I went for a walk in the forest by myself and it was very peaceful. Aside from a couple of wallabies that I spooked, the only other noise was bird and frog song. No koalas spotted today - but at least now I know what the BKB stands for . The cache itself is in fine condition as someone has kindly put a new (smaller) sistema inside the original (broken) container so it will be good for many years to come. Thanks for the hide in this nice little patch of bushland.
Out this way chasing some older caches. Enjoyable walk in (even the last uphill bit)Quickly located cache. Log signed.TFTH
Headed out in the geo-car for a few caches today.

Out for the day with nikid1 & after finishing a nearby series we are targeting close caches & this oldie fit the bill perfectly. It didn't take us too long to find the cache & even though the outer lid is cracked, the inner container is doing its job well.
Thanks for the cache Rogainer

During my morning geocaching walk with Willis007, who had previously found this, it was a short detour to gz. I couldn’t see the cache in the obvious place, so pulled out my camera torch to get a better look. Then I saw something shining deep inside the log but out of reach. So from the far end, Willis007 used a big stick to push it within reach. As the lid is broken, it was obviously pushed deep into the log to keep it dry but unfortunately that didn’t work as there was a fair bit of water in the box but luckily the logbook was dry in its extra container. After signing, I placed the container upside down and in easier reach, so hopefully it will stay dry. Great to find another oldie. Tftc
Very easy find and a fun walk for my first geocache.
As mentioned in previous post, the container for the geocache is damaged which collected a lot of rain water. (I have drained this water)
Log is still in good condition.

Such a beautiful morning to walk through here, lots of birdsong serenading us as we made our way to GZ. The container is wet and broken but the logbook is safe and dry. No koalas spotted to day but very much enjoyed our walk.

Found it! We decided to go on a walk since it was a nice day and saw that there was an opportunity to go on a little treasure hunt ️
Given the age of this cache and the number of times I have driven past this area while down here mountain biking I cannot explain why i have never ventured into this bush-land. Well maybe it is those No Bicycle signs. Today I had come armed with the bicycle but across the main road the BCC Rangers were present i I elected to walk that bush this morning.
Take 2 and into this bush area after lunch. Oh dear more BCC Rangers, that bike will just have to stay in the car today. Never fear looks like i have an AL to complete on the way to pass the time.
Great area and I had a wonderful walk on the horse only tracks.
Shame BCC don't get with the times as out in Moreton Council bikes and horses are allowed to co exist on the pony trails.
Thanks for keeping this one going .

Wahoo, another of Queensland's oldest 100 geocaches in the bag!
I was going to be close enough (no where near, but shh) to Brisbane Koala Bushland today to give this one a go, so thought I'd make it a target cache. Rain threatened, but never materialised. It was unseasonably cool, which made it delightful walking weather. Better still, I didn't see another soul the whole walk. Darn perfect if you ask me - I quite like a solo bushwalk.
Arriving nearish GZ I put the phone down and walked straight to the cache. The cache guardian is still there, we really ought to give this huntsman a name . The outer cache container was full of water, but the log is dry thanks to the inner cache container.
Lovely to see an original log here, just sad that it is now almost illegibile. I added my moniker to the 228 other caches who have made this voyage, returned the cache (sans water) to it's original home, and made my way back to the car.
What a gorgeous area to place a cache. Long may she live!

Today after attending the Van Gogh Alive exhibition, I decided to head out solo for some bushland walks around Capalaba. My first stop was J.C. Trotter Memorial Park and detouring past the various *Big Bang Theory* geocaches, and then I took a few more miscellaneous walks grabbing some of the oldie geocaches in the vicinity. After exhausting my water supply, I decided to finish off my afternoon with driveby geocaches and short walks, in particular, finding a few more of the *Saturday in the Park* (SITP) series.
After taking a walk nearby, I had a check at my other target caches around the area, and this cache was nearby, with it being a nice oldie 06/2003 hidden cache, and one of Queensland's 100 oldest yet active geocaches! Consequently, I made the random decision to take a short stroll to this one.
I didn't realise that there was a recommended waypoint from where to park / approach this one from in the hint (perhaps that can be added to the geocache for ease?), and so I ended up parking from Marawah Street, and approached this cache from the south, following a few loose tracks and trails. That strategy wasn't too bad in the end, and I had to duck under a fence, but otherwise it was probably the shortest route.
After making my way to GZ, I managed to make a quick find of the cache given the logical hiding spot. Although the outer container was cracked, the inner cache container and logbook were in good shape, and I dropped a TB for safe keeping / future travels. I did get a small fright when an internal cache guardian, a huntsman spider, crawled around the swag contents. Thanks Rogainer for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

On our trip down south of Brisbane, with perfect weather, it was a great day to explore a variety of bush trails and get to know this area a little more.

I had quite the internal debate about detouring to this cache... the cache won out... having seen some wallabies, some kangaroos and a kookaburra, I was quite keen to spot a koala... this detour gave me plenty of opportunity, but alas the elusive bears eluded me today... the outer container has seen better days, but the inner container is still good... I didn’t have anything big enough on me to replace the outer container... I did replace the snap lock bag...
Tftc... really enjoyed the walk here from hunting Skun Rabbits... the Australian bush in all its glory... and an old cache too...

Today was a Wacky Wednesday with a difference. Both NyssaFlutterby and wombles and co had pulled out of the day, one due to health, the other due to work, but both Mr and Mrs Slow Puncture were in for today’s adventure. We had initially hoped to be able to collect a different old cache, but it is currently out of action, so a look at the list and we opted to head this way for a few different ones.
This was to be the last one of the day for me, with Slow Puncture already having done this one not too long ago.
An enjoyable walk past quite the property, as well as an oddly located seat and I had a quick find in the likely location at GZ.
Thanks for the cache Rogainer.

Saturday. Oh! An oldie and a goodie! This one has been on our to-do list (oldest 100). Que Sera and I had spread our wings and efforts in collecting some Waskily Wabbits in the area and we decided to go a bit further and collect this cache. I’m glad we did. Cache spot was well worth the extra distance to go and find this one and container was spotted very quickly, tucked away in its hidey hole.
This was the 12th of 28 caches found on this outing.
Thanks ***Rogainer*** for showing us this place

Its my birthday and my muggle husband asked me what I wanted to do. Due to covid 19 there is not much else to do but have a walk in this isolated area. Made sure I used hand sanitizer before and after touching the cache just to be safe. Thankyou for placing this cache here for us to enjoy.

Out today with my Geocaching’s buddy Grannysmith1947. Our target again was one old cache and a animal cache for that animal alphabet challenge. Have two more to get. After that one it now leaves me one to get. Yippee .
But there is 17 caches in this park, I have to clear this park out. Found 16 one DNF, so not to bad I think.
Then Grannysmith1947 notice another old cache in the park next door. So we had to visit that old one to.

There are two log books in here, a soggy one, and a dry one inside a white tube. It looks as though the dry one has never been wet, so I’m unsure why so many people haven’t signed anything We signed both, tipped out the water, and retrieved a TB that has been in here for a long time

We have finally worked out that unless we concentrate on trying to finalise the oldest and finest challenge we are never going to get there. We were at home procrastinating on what cache/caches we wanted to get today when we decided on let’s target a few of the old ones on the south side.
We already had one on the board today and were keen to get another. Walking in there were wallabies everywhere this morning, it was really cool. Walking along we see there is a whole network of caches going on here, but we only have eyes for one particular one. We never have that urge to clean up an area, we just go for the target.
Arriving near GZ we found the cache in record time and could head back out the car.

This was a nice walk to it at the end of the day.
The cache was found easy enough however the log book was saturated. I did not have a spare one with me and it was too late in the afternoon to dry it out.
I was able to get my name in the log although very faint.

Joined wayn0 and E_Smiley for a day out caching chasing a few old ones and some random caches today. Good to see this one is still in good condition, neat hide.

Out with Snickersallan and E_Smiley hunting oldies. Nice stroll to and from GZ. Thanks for the cache.
Cheers

Found on an afternoon walk through the area while hunting the couple of geocaches around the place. Simple find. Added my name to the log after draining the flooded container...TFTC!
First cache for a couple of years with my 2 young boys, good reintroduction, good challenge with just a phone with patchy reception, so was looking for my wife’s glasses that fell out of her pocket along the trail!
An early start when I descended to the darkside with the aim to pick up a few oldies. Caches that is as may need my elderly blue card for work purposes.
This was the first stop of the day. Weather was a bit cool so was dressed in my best-est caching clobber. The barb wire tear in the back of the shorts created a good ventilation chimney for the gas build up and heat of hydration.
Lovely meandering walk to GZ. Spotted no koalas but did spot a few wallabies, plenty of bird life and one really fat pug who was walking it's muggle owner. Found the container in good order and dropped off the easter bunny TB. Expect quarantine and biosecurity will take a keen interest in this cache for the next few days. Thanks for maintaining this oldie Rogainer.

Another lovely piece of bushland to explore. Walked a circuit today and found a couple of caches as we went... this is one of them.
Cache is in great condition. Thanks Rogainer.

As this was my goal cache for the day I really enjoyed the walk up from where we started. My son was eager to race to GZ to keep the extreme momentum he had started with but was quickly reined in by my wife who likes to stop and admire the scenery as she walks. It was a bit like watching a horse at the gates that hadn't visited the stud for a while.
In the pauses he would pull out his phone and start researching mountain bikes being enamoured with the terrain. I told him to get the $80 Aldi bike but instead he thought he would invest in the $350 Aldi bike. It was clear to everyone present that I am a tight arse.
My wife's hiking pole is some ugly old walking cane that she found when clearing her mum's house out. Ugly might not be the best word for it, and the best description might be "fugly". Still it is a pretty rigid stick although the climb wasn't really that steep to bathe in its fugliness.
Closing in on GZ my son spotted the cache but unfortunately it was full of water. There was no log sheet present but I was armed with some paper but had to put it back in the wet bag so it probably won't last long. I dropped off a TB that I had picked up in New Zealand to have a rest in this tranquil spot. tftc

Today, the weather was quite rainy so I decided to go to some forest in order to try spotting Koalas I found trees marked with signs of Koalas but did not see any wild ones. Here and there a kangaroo but in the end I got completely wet of the rain . In the sanctuary I finally saw some but not wild ones, anyway, it is an interesting spot. On my way I also found some caches.
Especially in the forest off the path it was difficult to not get caught by a spiders web. I crashed into some. Fingers crossed

I was really starting to get tired now. After tackling both sides of the reserve, there were only a few geocaches left.
After consulting the map, I noticed this one, just sitting there some 1,500 meters from where I was! But, it did fill a grid spot, it was an oldie and how would I be able to live with myself if I was to leave just one cache in this whole reserve unfound.
So sore and reluctant, I pushed the navigate button on the GPSr and I was off. It was not a bad walk to ground zero and once there, it was a quick and easy find.
Though upon finding the cache, I also found it to be full of water. There was about 5cm of water in the cache, despite it having everything in place. So I took everything out and tidy it up. This allowed me the cache to relax and recharge before heading back off to finish what I started!!!
This cache was part of a lone-wolf adventure through this awesome part of the world.
I was just having one of those days... You know the ones, where you just wake up and have a craving to get outside and hunt a few smiles! I was just in need of a little alone time with Mother Nature and to waste time with Father Time, allowing me to balance myself and revitalize.
That that is just what I did today, wandered around and got lost in the wilderness that was this reserve.
Thank you Rogainer for being part of my day by providing this geocache for me to find!
