TFTC.Nice easy find, our last for today.Beautiful day here in Ferries McDonald Conservation Park.
Headed South from Adelaide this morning to continue picking up caches in the general Monarto South area.Cache quickly found and log stampedTFTC
Found while visiting someone nearby. It was a cache day/month for me today so wanted to find one nearby. A quick and easy find in the end. TNLN. Cheers.
Found by the Aussie branch of Dobie's Pride and 2 new friends Colin and Brian. TFTC!
Heading back home to Adelaide via Murray Bridge and decided to make a detour for a couple of caches.
I found a suitable place to park on the nearby road and walked in to GZ. Quick find.
Thanks for the cache Barry and Beryl.

There may not have been any Big Macs but there was certainly a big cache here today. TFTC
I’ve had a blast this morning with CPwanderer, Otter61, Spidermonkeymum and Are we there yet? Thank you all for letting me join you for a wander through the bush.
And no, there was no Big Macs here, but we did have a donut! Thank you Spidermonkeymum.

out and about today, I nearly missed this one, I found one nearby and left when I got a couple of KM's down the road I pulled over to see what else was about when I saw this one, a quick turn around and back to the site, quick find nice placement. TYFTC
Wandered this way with Purrfect Di.
Found your cache too
Thank the caching gods that sir_spectre came along and saved this cache from minttinitis!!!
It looks so much happier now than it would have been as a rusty tin. Although the original ammo can would have really made our day!!
No Big Macs, but a Roo burger would go down just nice [:o)]
Much thanks to Barry & Beryl for placing this cache, Mr Hurtle for keeping it going, and sir_spectre for saving us from finding a mint tin (at least on the outside... the tin was still inside for all to see its rustiness!)
---
This cache was found and logged using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S20+, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or sometimes with just plain old dumb luck!
---
Stay safe when caching. Watch for snakes, random cliffs, wild goats, and lightning,
but especially lookout for bugs. [xx(]
Make sure Travel Bugs are the only ones you share and pass on
2020 turned into 2020won, and 2020too is on the way! 2020free should see us through
Still important to observe social distancing when possible, (150 nano caches apart should do it)
Still important to wash your hands (always has been really [:o)]
Still very important to look after each other and take precautions & get checked out for even the tiniest sniffle or cough, or unexpected headache! [8)] [B)]
Still even more important to get some fresh air and exercise while we can, so get out and cache the country!
Thanks to all those placing caches out and about away from the city crowds,
keeps our game safe and interesting
Very happy to stumble upon this 2003 treasure on the way home from Mosquito Creek. Thanks Barry & Beryl, but also Hurtle and Sir_Spectre for keeping this one in play.
Came down here to get the " nearby " multi final. Stopped since this one is a old 2003 cache. It seems to have had a shrinking problem with it's age , also the current " small " is really a micro and very rusty one at that. Decided to return to the car and get a regular screw top container like it started out like. Put a peanut butter container inside that ( with extra log sheets ) and the current mint tin inside of that. That should keep this old one alive.
This evening, gridge98 was keen to head to Monarto for a FTF, and so we took the opportunity to also visit Ferries McDonald Conservation Park. It was some long walks over sandy soft terrain, but at least it wasn't stinking hot, with a coolish evening and nice breeze. After a few walks/hikes, we returned home via Hartley.
This was a nice oldie 07/2003 hidden cache. We ended up walking past this one to a few others in Ferries. We were a little apprehensive after reading a few logs and seeing it may take some time to be searching for this micro (despite its label as a small?), but in the end after a few minutes, I managed to find it.It was a shame to see it was just an old Eclipse mint tin, but at least this one continues to live on. It could use with some maintenance soon due to its ageing condition. Thanks Barry and Beryl for the cache placement, and Hurtle for its ongoing maintenance.

With the multiple events that were in or near(ish) to Murray Bridge, Laighside Legends suggested a day of caching in between said events. It was a nice early start, though all be it slightly damp one as we picked up a few caches through Bridgewater and the outskirts of Murray Bridge before arriving at the CITO at the opposite end of town. This was an interesting little place that I had not yet visited, and subsequently had plenty of caches to find, including a much sought-after DT combination. It was then onto Murray Bridge, for some reason I felt slightly at home hear, for some more caches and another event. After more socialising, Laighside, PhoenixFlare, Sue of 2y’stassies and myself head south to Ferries McDonal Cp to clean up the caches down there before finally heading to Laighside’s event in Langhorne Creek. This was a nice pub to end the days caching at, a cosy environment with quality food and good company made for a good ending for todays events.

This was one of two caches we stopped for on our way from Ferries McDonald Conservation Park to the Langhourne Creek event. It was found with Laighside Legends, PhoenixFlare and Munja after a short search in fading light. With the new growth on the gums in the area we thought that a mint tin may be hard to find.
Thanks Hurtle for keeping this old cache going.

Had lunch at the Wellington Hotel and wandered past here to fill in a spot on a grid. Our first visit to this conservation park but will try to get back out of snake season. Thanks for keeping this one going Hurtle (and to those that replaced the container). It’s in great condition and log was good too. Cheers and thanks for the special smiley
I found this one nearly 11 years ago, I will be back soon to bring it back to it's glory. Thanks to whomever has kept it going with a mint tin for Barry and Beryl, infortunately Barry's health deteriorated and was unable to maintain his cache. He sadly passed away last year.
Let's please keep this one going without any NA logs until I can get there.
Thanks

It would be awesome if the remains were turned into a new cache container in honour of the old cache TFTC
We parked at the dead end and walked in to find a cache that has had a near death experience. TFTC.
GZ has been through a fire and the original container is a melted glob of plastic. Some kind geocacher has left a mint tin to keep it going in the game.
Certainly isn't, and not much else if you are hungry. Was surprised at the terrain rating as next to impossible for a wheelchair. Quick find. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.
A green mint tin in the scrub, signs of a dead cache near by?

With the weather being nice and cool, today was chosen to make a big crack at getting close to our 5000th find, without actually getting it. Mrs C wants to be with me when we get our milestone cache. I started off the day in the middle of some drizzle but as the day worn on the clouds broke apart and the sun made its appearence to make it a nice day out.
While the majority of the finds were part of the OTD May and Geopets powertrails there were a few others inbetween.
Sorry for the generic logs but a big thankyou to all the teams that put the time into creating and hiding all these caches.
All cache notes signed either with Chippyroo or CP, for time saving.

Spent the day caching with earthlight and as we slowly make our way to CPs other place event we grabbed some caches along the way, as one does lol, what we found was one very burnt and melted cache so we placed a eclipse tin with some log sheets with the burnt cache in a plastic bag to keep this one going. TFTC
Definately needed maintenance and 3LG kindly replaced and will notify owner.
A quick find before we headed further down the orad.

Found by The Boofs TFTC . When we say found all we found was the molten plastic mess that was the cache. Inserted a small log sheet between the plastic layers!!
When we found this cache in 2012 it was an **ammo tin** and **not a plastic container** as stated in the description. Someone must have swapped it?
A few months ago there was a prescribed burn in the park: see details below; (If I got more warning, I would have gone to rescue this cache as I also have a series in this park )
Prescribed burn at Ferries McDonald Conservation Park
Date posted: 29 March 2016
A prescribed burn is planned at Ferries McDonald Conservation Park in the Murraylands for Wednesday 30 March 2016, weather conditions permitting.
•The prescribed burn will start at 12pm and should be complete by 5pm on Thursday 31 March.
•It will affect about 32ha east of Ferris McDonald Road.
•A significant smoke column will be produced during this burn. This is normal for burns of this size.
•Ferries McDonald Road may be affected by smoke and will have traffic restrictions during the burn.
The burn will be carried out by the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources (DEWNR) and Country Fire Service (CFS).
The primary objective of this burn is to reduce fuels in the area to prevent the spread of bushfire and improve habitat. It is part of a state-wide program of prescribed burning in high-risk public land areas this autumn.
Creating strategically-located, fuel-reduced areas through prescribed burning is essential in helping to reduce the potential spread and impact of bushfires on communities and the environment by providing earlier containment options for firefighters.

Today we meandered over to SA to find a few caches in the bush.
On arrival at this cache the obvious signs and smell of a recent fire was observed. We headed to GZ in the hope that the cache had survived, but alas, it had not. On returning to the cars Brisal5 spotted an object on the ground that looked very much like a melted piece of plastic. On closer examination we all agreed , that indeed, it was the cache.
Now it is so badly damaged we were unable to sign the log, but we have taken photo's of our find.
We are pleading with the cache owners to be allowed to log this cache as a find, we will add the photo's then if needed. What we are also suggesting is that we replace the cache container with a new one the next time we are coming through. We returned the cache container that was burnt to the vicinity of GZ TFTCache

Saddens me to report that a fire has been through here and destroyed nearly everything.
We have arrived in Murray Bridge to have a service on our caravan, while we waited we went for a drive & found some caches. This was a very pleasant walk in the bush.

With decent weather being forecast a plan was hatched to do some walking caches today in company with Sylken. Mrs Felix was the designated driver (drop n go) and book reader for the walkers. Although she did manage to walk 1 series today.
Fabulous weather and company, caches in good order and with good co-ords made for a really enjoyable day. (except for the enormous mosquitoes that seemed to follow us everywhere [xx(] )
We saw plenty of goannas, lots of birdlife out and about, some butterflies, kangaroos, and even an orchid on the side of the track.

Geohubby and I have just arrived in Murray Bridge to spend a few weeks tackling the many caches in the area. We were originally booked for the Mega event at Easter but family illness meant we had to cancel at the last minute. We are now able to try to add some more smileys to our tally. We have spent some very enjoyable times with FelixII since they arrived in SA after meeting them at a big event they organised in Busselton WA in 2013.
We were lucky enough to catch up with them again before they move further south, eventually heading for Victoria. Today we tackled a few caches that have been published since they were in Murray Bridge last.
We tallied 45 finds and no DNF's. All caches had excellent co-ords and were in good condition. I apologise for the generic log....I suspect with so many caches to be found around here that there will be many more such logs but we really appreciate all the work, time and effort that has been put into each and every cache by the CO's.
Glorious weather, fantastic company and a tidy sum of smileys made for a very enjoyable day.
We always love to find a nice big cache in the bush.
Many thanks for the hide Barry and Beryl [^]

OzMega was over. It was time to head home. Slowly. Very slowly. After finding a cache nearby, CP’s Angels (AKA Clare007, JJ52 , Ismartis and Owl) were looking for other easily accessible caches. This one fitted the bill nicely and was soon in hand. The hard ones will have to wait until next time.
The first of five finds in the park. And as it turned out the easiest by far.

Found as part of the record run to SA by The Demolition Crew (TDC). While, I am not a member of the TDC, I was fortunate enough to be caching with Blacklegend, Quasar3671, Trailrunning and Rebel Acts on what was for me, a huge adventure.
As I live with Blacklegend, it was fantastic when he said "Do you want to come to South Australia on a huge caching trip". I jumped at the chance, as I'd never been to S.A. or Adelaide, and it was a fantastic feeling to know I was going to be part of something big, and I was.
To be part of the Australian 24 hour record, at such an early stage in my caching career, so to speak, and part of so many other finds, was experience building beyond anything I could have hoped for.
****************
Sunday was fantastic, we were up very early because of daylight savings, etc. At the end of a full day caching, we had found over 100. This included the Fruit Loop series, and a heap of other caches around the area, including another earthcache, which was my favourite for the day. Loving the area andthe caches.
****************
Due to the extremely high number of finds for the trip, and on Blacklegend's advice and with his assistance, I have also gone with the generic logs. As the others have stated, it in no way takes away from the fantastic and enjoyable hides we found on the trip. As Blacklegend and the other have said, my sincere thanks to all cache owners who placed and maintain their caches, and made this trip possible for our group. TFTC, memories and the experience.

This cache was found during The Demolition Crew with Ponty95 24 hour and 1000 caches in 48 hours record breaking challenge caching run in South Australia.
I've been on quite a few caching road trips during my time as a cacher and this one was one of the best. The idea was to see how many caches we could find in 24 hours, with the goals being to break the Australian 24 hour caching record, and then continue on the next day to see if we could eventually find a total of 1000 caches or more in the 48 hours. Needless to say we did manage to fulfill both goals.
Not only does SA have some lovely contryside and Adelaide itself is famous for its churches, SA is also known for its numerous, extensive and well laid out cache 'powertrails'. The OZ Mega, OZ Signal and the Wandering Heros series of caches in particular are the largest and just a few of the many that can be tackled. With this is mind, TDC started planning the 24 hour challenge caching run back in late 2012, and over a period of many, many months we laid out careful plans on how we were going to break the Australian 24 hour caching record, as well as find as many caches as possible while on the road.
The intricate attention to detail proved to be esssential to us completing our goals. With routes planned, essential supplies loaded (especially museli bars, water and energy drinks) and every cache detail documented, we headed off on the 6th to begin our journey. By the end we had accomplished what we had set out to do, smashing the 24 hour record and finding over 1000 caches in the 48 hours. We had an absolute ball and needless to say were knackered by the end but the final result was worth every hours lack of sleep.
Apart from finding many 'stand alone' caches we did manage to complete the OZ Mega, Oz Signal, Wandering Heros, TDF, APM and PSA series, the 40, 50 and 60 series of caches as well as a number of Adelaide puzzle caches and a few Melbourne - Adelaide multi caches.
Due to the number of cache finds and the resulting number of logs to write, I am reluctantly using a generic log to log each cache. The same goes for my fellow TDC cachers and Ponty95, full appreciation goes out to each of the CO's who placed caches that we found, and without your caches our fantastic caching experience would not have come to fruition.
Thanks, Quasar3671.
