A beautiful walk along the fire trail with amazing views under a cloudless sky. Great spot at the lookout as well. Thoroughly enjoyed the walk. TFTC
Awesome lookout. So much history in this area. Will have to improve fitness and tackle the maxwell property next! Thanks for bringing us here!
After a nice walk up to Kedumba river we found this cache. We really enjoyed the track. The view at GZ was the perfect end of our trip. Thanks for this amazing view.
At GZ quick found. We dropped a TB.

A cloudy day but nice and cool for a walk into the Kedumba valley. On our way out we stopped here to enjoy the view. Cache is in good order. TFTC
Beautidul spot, great find. Just be aware that you are in for a long uphill climb back to your car
A glorious day for a walk down to the Cleary memorial to enjoy the superb views. Quite an easy find. Cache is in good condition. Signed and replaced. TFTC
Found the second day of the two days trail from Katoomba to Kedumba camping via Mt. Solitary and back to Katoomba. Excellent view! Many thanks!
Yesssss!!! After long weekend walking around Bluemountains I pusch my friend to start look for cache we found it . Thank this make all happy
Found after a great walk down Dan's road and what a fantastic view from here. Now back up the hill to try for "Hospital Pass".
I was heading bush for the weekend to refresh my soul and was pleased to find a handful of caches enroute. My hike took me down to Kedumba Campground and I picked this one up along the way. A nice little detour with great scenery. The highlight of my weekend was sitting in the sunshine at the campground Sunday morning watching the platypus play for about half an hour. Magic!

Out on a day hike to kedumba river and picked up this with brentus01 on way back. Great views, Tftc.
Parked at Bonanza style gates. Nice walk along freshly graded dirt road. Not allowed to drive on though, and an eleven thousand dollar fine if you take your dog for a walk with you to this cache. So sadly I had to leave the dog in the car. Took about 45 minutes from car to car. Great views at gz. Quick find at gz. Cache all good. Fav point. Tftc
Found with the help of Sargiebear, otherwise I might still be wandering out there. TFTC.
One of few finds on our multi-day hike from Katoomba do Wentworth Falls. It was a bit rainy so the views weren't as spectacular as what we saw on other viewpoints, but still very nice place and worth the hike. Thanks for the cache.
Found on Jamison traverse. See https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC3BGFD_nontrivial-2-jamison-traverse?guid=215f32ba-0463-4b22-b7ac-37cf2d1f1b5c for details.
Great little spot and a good memorial.
Came with a group of five and found without too much drama.
A good rest point for the brutal hike across Mount Solitary that was to come.
Thanks for the cache!

Found with phlphotos on a cool breezy day in the mountains. It was not to long a walk to GZ, but we extended the walk to a waypoint for another cache, and boy was that a difficult walk back up!
#729 came here with alnic39 to find this cache on the way stopped at WP1 for another cache plugged in the coords for WP2. As we approached GZ realised where we needed to go & saw the track we needed to take & got to GZ found the cache the second place we looked. Signed the log & replaced as found. Thanks for the cache The Rats.
I had the Jamison Traverse trip organised for a couple of months with my bushwalking group. While the only geocacher of the group, they did know of the lifestyle and only spared a roll of the eyes as I ducked off the track to grab the caches.
While obvious where this one will be, it so took me a few minutes to spot it.
Thanks for the cache.

Found a black headed brown baby snake a lovely red spider was guarding the cache I eventually got the hint and found it tftc.
I had a few spare hours this morning, so I set off with three goals:
1. Grab GCGPYD "Kedumba"
2. Grab GC11TDB "Point of No Regard"
3. Grab a few waypoints from GC3BGFD "Nontrivial #2 - Jamison Traverse".
I grabed this one at 09:15. I've been down here a few times previously, walked up the track and also had the luxury of driving through the area, however I'd never noticed this little side track. I left the main track too early following an animal track thinking that would take me to the cache. I didn't realise the memorial would be sign-posted.
Cache in good order and hidden well. Co-ords were pretty spot-on. Thanks for the cache.

After getting the first way point for the multi nontrivial traverse we noted the cords did not seem that far apart to this one (famous last words) so headed off. We parked at the big gates and headed off down the dirt road. The first section was reasonably flat and then we started to descend. As we neared GZ we saw a side trail and decided to take it which bought us to GZ. After taking in the view and seeming the interesting monument we hunted around for a bit before making the find. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC.
This cache has been on my to do list for literally years. After starting at the golden stairs, camping on Mt Solitary and climbing back down and up again, the cache and the views were a great reward. Thanks The Rats!
Great spot to sit and think with the bell birds in the background. Great mountains day for a walk to a new cache. SLTFTH
The sky was clear but there was some fog in the valley. A really nice day for a walk. I have been past this spot a few times but never stopped - it was either too late in the day or I was walking with non-geocachers.
I stopped by today while doing the Jamison Traverse. Fantastic place and a poignant memorial. Views are glorious.
The cache was quickly found where the hint suggested. Thanks The Rats for bringing me here and to Webby for replacing the container. The cache is in good shape. Found at 7:57 am.

I found this one this morning whilst introducing my best mate to Geocaching. As I am moving away this was a last hurrah for me before moving OS. It was also one last chance to do one of my favourite walks in the Blue Mountains - Heading over Mt Solitary.
We weren't confident of the weather as we left Sydney in the early morning, but we decided to press on as the mountains weather is always be completely different to Sydney. It was still raining quite hard when we got there, but we could see it clearing to the south west. So we headed off to a cafe in Wentworth Falls to wait out the change for an hour. It turned out to be a good decision and an awesome day for caching with clear skies and cool air for the climb up Mt Solitary.
This cache was a target, because The Rats caches are prolific and well hidden with great coords. We both had no idea this little lookout was here. I let my mate make the find and we both signed the log. We replaced it just as I found it.
Anyway, you've gotta love an excuse to get out and find a cache. Thanks The Rats for another of your caches. I hope you and enjoying your trip. SL TNLN TFTC

How Cool would never of found this top little spot main path go right by all is well with the cach
On our way further down the track to pick up a waypoint for another cache we planned to do. Went too far came back to a closer point and chose an easier spot to enter and found an even easier track to come out from. Enjoyed the history of the area. Thanks The Rats for placing this cache so long ago. Found with whitemushroom.
A perfect spring morn and set off with bisygisy to seek WPs for nontrivial #2 with Kedumba part of the day's seek. Although advised by pjmpjm that there was a track leading to the 'lookout' after passing it by, it became a short hillclimb scramble for an easy find ... and yes the track was there, where it does reach the road is well disguised. Onto a newish logbook, so it was sad not to see some of the earlier historical logs for this aged Cache. Thanks to The Rats for such a great location and Cache.
Out on a bush-walking/caching adventure with Jmanjezza, MadRummager & Whiochon.
Great little memorial; we had no idea it was here. This is what I love about Geocaching; taking you to the places you'd never otherwise see.
A sombre reminder of the price of roads.

Nice. You'd never know about the caterpillar memorial. Good place for a cache!
Nice spot, it's great the places caching takes you. I wonder how many people have walked past and never knew this place was here
On 3rd of March I led an SUBW walk (me, Sophie and 1 other) down Lion's Head Pass to the old homestead, along Kedumba River to the Solitary Walking Track crossing, then the Sublime Point Firetrail to where it hits the Kedumba Valley Road. At that point we turned right and walked downhill for about 500m to the next locked gate, then scrambled up to the ridge line where we picked up the old "Goat Track" and followed it all the way up to where it hits Kedumba Valley Road again just below the Cleary lookout. Having scrambled up that far I figured we should scramble another 50m and check up on this cache, which doesn't get anywhere near as much attention as it should. I decided to grab the TB and move it on.
Thanks to Webguy and the crew that ventured into Kedumba valley, a new container has now replaced the old one. Thanks guys.
last duty for the day after a working bee in the national park putting up new signs around the old Sewage Treatment Plant.
Web Guy had to go there to do some maintenance on the cache and a couple of us took this opportunity to log the cache.
Thanks for the cache in a great spot, loved the view.

New cache container, logbook, stash note and pen are now in place.
Threw the old cache and contents away, logbook is still intact, a tad water damaged. Can't believe that this is an '03 cache and it is still on the original logbook, we were like 4th to log this one!
Historical document will be returned to owner soon.

Cache box has teeth marks along top water has got in we dried it out and placed it in a plastic bag. Needs more attention
With a day driving in the Blue Mountains this was high of list. I'd been assured by a previous cacher that it was well worth the trek and he wasn't wrong. It's a gentle walk from the gate along the fire trail through a picturesque forest of gum trees and ferns.
Once at GZ the sounds of biords above and below was constant - cockatoos, whip birds, rosellas and a few I didn't recognise. Despite the cloud, the view up the valley to Narrow Neck was brilliant.
The contents of the container was a little damp, but the log book was fine. The trek back to the car wasn't hard and once again made easier by the bush setting. A great cache. Thank you Rats.

Began our traverse of the Jamison Valley at the Hospital and headed down the firetrail. I was on the phone to pjm and he reminded me of this cache (I thought it was further down the valley) so I had to drop the pack and run back up the hill about 200m and then cliumb the embankment. Found teh momument quickly but took quite a while before the gps settled. In the mean time I searched high and low without success. Was on my way out when I turned and saw a likely hiding spot and whammo ahd cih.
Fantastic location and cache, thanks The Rats, I hope this cache stays operational for a long time to come.

PS - I lost my Cancer Council sunnies around GZ, so if the next finder stumbles upon them, I would appreciate if you let me know.

Up nice and early this morning to grab a nearby multi that hadn't been found yet, and this one was en route to it. A quick dash down the trail, and was soon at GZ where the cache location was spotted upon arrival. Contemplated doing the full walk to the Golden Staircase, but needed to leave later this afternoon to head back to Newcastle. Nice to find a cache that's almost 10 years old, and still in good shape. The log book was a little damp, but still able to be signed.
Gratias Rats!

First of three pleasant walks up in this area. Glad to see some sun and a good sized cache. Thanks The Rats!
The intention this morning had been to get to Mt Victoria, but somehow that just never happened. Instead, I decided at the last moment to turn onto Tablelands Road to look for this cache which has long been on my to-do list. At first we took the wrong road where it forks at the hospital. I've ridden down there so many times for the Anderson's Fire Trail that I just wasn't looking at the GPS.
So we turned back and eventually got to the big gate. There were a number of cars parked in front of it, and we saw several groups as we walked, in training, it seemed, maybe for the six foot track. The weather was gorgeous today after what seems like a biblical deluge. The sky was perfect blue, the temperature was mild, and the track was wide, easy and well shaded on the way down to the cache, with views opening onto the valleys on either side.
We took an easy path up to the cache location when we got near and saw the caterpillar tracks buried in the earth. It didn't take NickoHeap long to unearth the cache. With all the recent rain it had some water in it. I emptied it and dried out the cache and all its contents with my shirt. Luckily the logbook was triple bagged since the outer bag was torn. The log book was fine. We didn't bother with the out bag when replacing everything since it was wet and offered no practical protection for the logbook.
Not only was the location fascinating, but it offered alternative views out across the Jamison Valley. I've long wanted to do this cache, and it didn't disappoint. A favoutite for me. Thanks

Bikerbuddy had had this in his his sights for some time, so today we decided to go for it! After all the rain, today was just a glorious autumn day in the Bluies- just what the doctor ordered after a less than pleasant week at work.
A pleasant stroll ot to the cache, with magnificent views at the end and a sad tale too. I love caches that have history like this as well as showing off the beauty of this wonderful land.
Our resident blood hound, NickoHeap sniffed out the cache quickly once we got there.
The cache was a little wet-as was the log, but we dried it out as best we could. Didn't leave the coin I had though, simply because of this. Lots of walkers and joggers out on the track today. Thanks for a great cache, The Rats! Always good to see these old ones keep on keeping on. A favourite from me!

great walk. great trees. fabulous intermittent views through broken fog. interesting site.
Found it!
Had been to this magical place previously and did not find, therefore was determined to come back and find it.
Made the treck today even though the weather was ideal. In a way the bush eary with the fog on the walk down to the cache site, however the call of a black cockatoo had us searching the canopy of the huge trees nearby. We were delighted to spot a pair.
Was also delighted to make a quick find this time.

After doing "VIEW3-55 Kedumba" (GC2WGDV) on the spur of the moment 'nice place to eat our lunch' we were suddenly energised and decided to take this one on as well.
The road to the 'bonanza' gates was a little potholed, but the 2WD handled it without drama. Once we got past the bonanza gates several long distance runners came along - they were heading out, and if they've been all the way down to the cache, or even further, I am well impressed because the road does become very steep. We actually went down the road too far (too engrossed in conversation) and when we finally looked at the compass it was telling us we needed to be 50 metres south, which if we took literally meant we needed to climb up a 20M rock wall. Fortunately we realised we must have missed a turnoff and retraced out steps, saw the 'easy' way in, and found the intriguing memorials. With cache found and log book signed, we ate more snacks while contemplating mortality.

Have been to this lookout many times, this is the first time as a geocacher.
The history of this area is fascinating. Need a geocache on The Goat Track now.

This cache is a favourite for me. I loved it, I enjoyed the walk down & back, it blew the cobwebs out of my lungs. It took a bit to find it, hard way in – easy way out. As welding is part of my trade I was moved by the memory plague, this is a well-made steel plague, the welding is top notch & the machined border is ace. This would have taken some time to manufacture, cache was a little damp but ok, dried out & taken some of the paper wet / perished items home to throw out, Hidden back very carefully so it should stay dry. Thanks for this because if it wasn’t for your cache this history would be lost to all. TFTC / TFTH / SL
This one was our last one for the day, took us awhile to workout where it was hidden. But going the wrong way took us to some great views. We are now thinking of going camping down the bottom. Took spider left ring.
nice walk in the early sunshine
found cache FULL of water... someone has been nibbling on the box
spent a hour or so drying out the log and contents as best we could before the cold was getting to us.. unfortunately some of the first aide items have gone to god
have bagged the whole cach in plastic...maybe this will help?
took TB.. been here a while (unfortunately the torch also got a bit wet)
great views.. nice little walk

With a couple of days off from work, I took Mrs. pjmpjm along for a geocache adventure I'd been planning for some months now. It was a 4.5 km return trip, but worth every metre!
After parking near the famous 'Bonanza' gates on Kedumba Valley Road, we walked down a 'fire trail' that was better, sometimes much better, than many unsealed roads you'll find around NSW. The views slowly open up until you reach 'the sharp corner,' right near GZ, where you have incredible vistas to the south and southeast ('The Blue Labyrinth') and to the west, towards and behind 'Mt. Solitary' ('Korowal'). We were accustomed to the views of Mt. Solitary only from the north, from our house, and it was fascinating to see this entirely different perspective of the local 'sacred mountain.'
Five years ago we made this same trek -- before we became geocachers -- but I don't think we ever walked quite as far as 'the sharp corner' -- where Kedumba Valley Road starts to drop steeply towards the valley, with the steep sandstone walls towering overhead.
Oh yes -- the geocache! Well, it's located some 35 metres from the fire trail/road and I bush bashed up a steep embankment to GZ, and then eventually returned on a nice flat little trail. Such is the geocacher's experience! The little Cleary memorial area was quite touching. Before the trees grew up, it was probably a spectacular lookout to the south. And it's still very nice. I'll upload some photos to go with those in the earlier logs. I suspect that the road builders imagined farms and towns down in the valley by 2010. But the excellent road provides very useful service in bush fire season.
The CO's clue is enough to find the cache, even without a GPSr, since it's obviously near the Cleary Memorial. When I first discovered the tupperware, my Oregon 300 was indicating that it was ten metres away from the published coordinates. But when I finished doing the logging formalities, the satellites had settled and the GPSr was reading '1' . . . so the CO's coordinates are pretty darn accurate.
Cache container was just fine and the contents dry. I left GazMag's 'Shine the Light on Me' TB. TNSL.
Kings Tableland Road, Kedumba Valley Road and the environs are supposed to be one of the most common areas in the Blue Mountains -- actually in the whole of Australia -- for sighting 'Yowies.' We had just recent a recently published book on the subject. So Mrs. pjmpjm and I were on the watch the whole time. However, during the course of two hours we didn't even see a possum. Nobody was around (apparently) but the two of us on a breezy but mild and very beautiful spring day. What a great walk! What great scenery! We recommend this cache adventure highly!
And many, many thanks to The Rats. This was a wonderful choice of hiding spots and honours the Clearys.

Nobody was around (apparently) but the two of us on a breezy but mild and very beautiful spring day. What a great walk! What great scenery! We recommend this cache adventure highly!
And many, many thanks to The Rats. This was a wonderful choice of hiding spots and honours the Clearys.
Did not fine it.
What a fantastic location; unbelievable views. Should have had a packed lunch and a thermos then I could of sat there for hours and just taken in the view. Not today though as it was blowing a gale.
No luck in finding the cache. The GPS was jumping around; one minute telling me to go up the hill, next over the cliff. As a relative newby to caching was not sure what that could mean.
Had to leave without finding, however the real treat was the location.
Thank for taking us there

We used to have a MTB time trial down this 'hill' in the 80s, it took about 15 mins to get to the bottom and over an hour to get back out!
At that time there was an elderly gentleman who lived in the homestead at the bottom, he claimed that he helped build most of the firetrails in the Blue Mountains.
It could have been so, as the homestead was surrounded by dozens of old pieces of earthmoving machinery.

Found with Corell Amboshler. Great walk out to the spot, and incredible views. It's a real shame that the council has blocked the Kedumbla Valley off to vehicles, as the track is fantastic, and would have made a really great day of off-roading. I find it a shame also that the memorial for the man who built the road has been all but abandoned... the only ones who will ever see it now are the cachers who pass through.
Great cache, thanks for bringing us to this spot. TNLNSL

Times we've done caches and said "if it weren't for caching, we'd never have known about this amazing spot". Well this was the perfect example. What a great location and a very fascinating memorial.
Thanks Rats for taking us here!

Sorry forgot to log this one...found it a few months ago...was on the big walk to Leura...
Still fresh and keen at the start of the day. A great cache with a view to another cache in the distance. Although spending lots of time in the mountains, I even lived at Wentworth Falls for 5 years, I never got out to Kedumba. Thanks for bringing me here. Took TB

A fantastic cache in a beautiful area. Came here with a muggle friend to check out part of the course for the North Face 100.
Interesting bit of history at the cache site. Would never have seen this from the road in if it wasn't for the cache.
No swaps but left the Globetrotter TB.

This was the larst cache after two days of caching and with dark skies and thunder all around set off with Geokid 1. Well after two days this was the longest hike and I enjoyed coming back to an area I had been climbing several times before.
Typical Mountains weather Hot, Humid and Wet. Well after exploring all the nooks and cranies along the way we arrived a the Hearpin- A place that still takes my breath away to day -This is what it is truly all about.
Spent a good 1/2 hour watching the storms roll around before heading back up to GZ.
This again is one of those places that have been forgotten about over the years and is a real hounour to our pioners.

For some reason I had an idea this was more remote, but it was a quick walk/run along a fire trail to where the views are outstanding. Swaps in, swaps out .. thanks Rats

A wet and foggy day, visibility about 10m. We set off for a walk to Mt Solitary, but had to call it off. Still, this is a wonderful piece of Blue Mountains history. Thanx!

A Xmas day cache hunt. This is my last of 3 finds today. A great walk from the gate along an good road. Once there I was amazed to see this peice of history. Cache was easy to locate. TNLNSL Many thanks for the adventure.
A beautiful walk on a beautiful day, with a bit of history at the end.
Found the cache without too much trouble. Left Sammy the Snake and took a cassette of Journey To The Centre of the Earth.

Found this one on a very rainy and windy day. The views are awsome and the location is great. Thanks for the cache.

From the description this cache looked like a nice walk. I think perhaps I should have considered that I would need to carry the Ebenezerling back up that hill as well as myself! My 1st rule of geocaching certainly applied here: you only find the track that leads you to the cache on the way back.
Have walked up this road a few times but never knew this was here. Nice bit of history. Took photos left candle.
Found this cache early this morning. I had to be very quiet as there were muggles on the main track, luckily they didn't see me! I had been here a few years ago, rode my bike from Leura Forest (top ride, just don't get busted!)
I took the Red Eye Express TB and a couple of Koala toys, left a toy car. Cache in good nick except for a couple of little teeth marks (nothing to worry about). Now to find a new home for Red Eye..........

Wahoo we found another one, I used to frequent Kedumba as a kid, we used to camp in a big old barn down there. We used to stop in at the house and talk to a bloke named Les Maxwell I think (hes the one that used to let us camp there) there are alot of wild brumbies down there and we used to ride three of them that had been tamed a bit. bare back of course, we named one of them big red but I can't remember the other two. anyway my dad used to tell us all the stories about it. he says he took us to this memorial lots of times, but i don't remember, so it was great to go back, the view is fantastic, we have left the red eye express travel bug here. it is well worth the walk to get to this lovely view.

A really great place to go for a walk!
I'd heard about the 'dozer driver memorial out here from friends in the RFS... A cache at the spot made it irresistable.
We were too busy enjoying the views and walked past the location. A short session of bush bashing had us back on track.
Found by Sami_search, who was accompanying me.
Took - SES keytag
Left - RFS Cat 1 pin.
A note - If you see a good photo opportunity, take it immediately. We saw a fantastic view and intended to take some pics on the way back. In rolled the fog and mist. Opportunity lost... Oh well... Next time!
Thanks Rats for a great spot to visit!

Awesome place,
As where's_wally said, we took a bit of a detour but it was more than worth it for the awesome views.
My dad told me about the story of the buldozer, and we drove down that road on an RFS exercise last weekend however unfortunately we couldnt stop, so we had to return.
Where's_wally and i were gettng slightly paranoyed... thought we heard footsteps running away as we approached the cache and when we opened it up there were a few raindrops on one of the items....
However no-one has mentioned anything here so the mystery (or our paranoya) remains.
