To the best of my knowledge the land this is on is not private land . At worst it's private and the *church*, which is no longer active, owns it otherwise it has been Commonwealth Defense land for the last 70 years. The paddocks around the chapel were leased to a farmer whose farm has been removed in the last few months as Edinburgh airbase gets expanded. The block of land the church is on lies between fourth and fifth avenue and is a *separate* block from the surrounding land and so it is not clear at all that the government actually own this land, it may well still be owned by the church as the church use precedes government use of this land by a fair margin AFAIK. However the OH&S issue may be a fair call although last time I checked there was no indication that was anything structurally unsound with the building. This land can't simply be re-used as there are graves in the cemetery. The security dudes just don't people there due it's proximity to the base, i.e. not very.
Phew !!!! Found it at chapel boardwalk step as last I have been looking everywhere take me 15 mins got it GOLD Cache still here safely.T.N.L.N

Oh oh dear. we did not realise that it has been archived but we found it easily. yep we broke the law I think it's shame not to visit historical chapel. Anyway I am really glad went there because its interesting place. Thanks Alex for the cache.
Whoops - didn't realise this was archived Found it anyway, but certainly didn't feel comfortable being there.
We looked at finding this cache years ago, but thought better of fence jumping to get to it. Didn't realise it had been archived, so had another look today, and saw even more reason not to tresspass to log a find. A real pity though, looks like a great area.
Made a trip to this one today after reading the logs we can confirm it is on private land and is not readily accessible to the public.
After speaking with the Govt Authority that controls the land we were advised that the Chapel is off limits due to OH&S reasons (the building is no longer safe).
Is really a shame as it is a lovely building.
Cache needs to be moved and maintained as Log is also full.

Sounds like it's off-limits. If you can find otherwise, Alex, let me know.

Hi Alex
Yesterday, we drove past the area in which we beleive your cache is hidden. But all around the perimeter of the property there were signs suggesting that the public are not to enter the property.
Is the cache legally accessible? We felt unable to search the property for this one. If this cache is no longer legally accessible, can you please archive this one so that others are not tempted to enter illegally.
Happy Caching

Found the cache - no problem. I didn't go to the "Church Road" as It said Private so I went other side. Love this church so much. Worth to visit. No swap. Thanks Alex for organising the cache and hunt.
This appears to need to be archived or at the very least shifted. When I got there today I found that CHURCH RD is now a private rd. WITH SIGNAGE TO THAT EFFECT!! Not only that but it is chained AND has a CHUBB SECURITY SIGN ON IT AS WELL.[/B]
Still I went in, thinking that if approached I would explain and tell them I was unable to find the way in.
However when I got to the end of the rd it clearly went to private property. Another fence needed to be climbed (has barbed wire so you would have to think they don't want you going in!!) and cut across a cnr of a paddock to get to GZ.
Once at Ground Zero it was clear the whole area is fenced off and surrounded by other paddocks. These paddocks have signs on the rd that you may be SHOT if you go in!!!
So sadly it would appear that it is now a piece of history that is on private land that the owners DEFINITELY DO NOT WANT OTHERS ON. A shame as it is an interesting peice of history!

Well you would never come to this place without a reason
It is historical and quiet amid the traffic out there on the roads.
Didn't bring the log sheet but Geo wife thought that it was an obvious choice and she was dead right, although The cemetry is over in the corner and you would think that it might be there.

My last day near the base so I thought I would get up early and jump the fence for this one. Looks like the fence is closed because of the sheep. I reckon if anyone pulls up and questions you just say your visiting your relatives in the Grave Yard.. hahaha No problems with the find. Just to let people know it is bigger than a micro and once you are standing at the gate you cant miss the hide 25m away. So obvious which made it all the more enjoyable. Also introduced a friend to geocaching on this one. He loved the hunt.

A lovely spot for a cache but it was dark by the time we got here (last evening of daylight savings) so we didn't get to enjoy the scenery. A good hide.

This one took a bit of finding, but also took pictures of the site, nice place to visit, we parked on the other road where no signs are to say do not enter, hopped a couple of easy fences and were on the hunt, looked in the obvious and not so obvious spots, went past the hiding spot numerous times then had one last look and Bingo there's the little sucker Very devious hide. SL TN LN Thanks Alex for bringing us here.

It would appear that the gate that leads to the chapel is now closed off. (and marked private property). I don't know what that means for longer term access, but this one may be harder to get to for a while. Cheers.
Great spot of history, much appreciated. Thanks alex. Cheers from Featherwaite.
Although I drive past this cache every day, I've been a bit wary of jumping fences so close to the RAAF base. I was going past early today, and thought what the hell. The waypoint projection was a bit dubious, but felt around in the obvious place and came up trumps! I wonder what the history of this place is?

Found with Webguy on his 48 hour Adelaide Caching Frenzy.
The posted GZ puts you about 14 m to the east of a cast iron gate, in a field.
Should you do your projection from the gate you might have better luck searching. I had to ring the Alex hewlpline to get me to look in the obvious place

This one took longer than it should of. When we rocked up to this nice little church, I knew where it was going to be, but we followed the box of tricks, then I whipped out my magnetic device and tried the suggested method of finding it. No where near where I needed to be, so i checked anyways, missed it on the first look it would seem. Decided to look at the graves while Bowie fiddled in his car with electrickery.
Projected a WP in the GPS just to be sure, still in the wrong spot, so we gave up and just looked again and had it this time. Not really a micro, a small.
Thanks for an interesting location.
Cheers

A guy near the houses was watching over us. Wasn't really sure if it was okay to be there. I took a while but after thinking about it then there was only one place it could be. It pays to carry a compass.

We had to wander about a bit so that a nearby muggle wouldn't suspect anything too sinister (bit hard in this area!). Police dogs apparently patrol near the area. The 60 metres back to the car looks like a long way when you think about it like that!
It was a pleasant wander though as we got to examine the church, the small graveyard and the pleasant surrounds. Cache found in the obvious place after looking for something a little smaller.
The last cache of the three days and my 450 as well.
Thanks Alex.

I was walking to the obvious place when the GPS was pointing somewhere else so I went with it and spent a lot of time searching without logs. On giving up I thought I will walk back past the obvious place and there it was, now I see that there is a projection which makes me feel a lot better about where I found GZ, and also makes me promise to remember the PDA next time. TNLNSL. Cheers. MODU.
Our second visit to this one after 'S' for stupid totally forgot about the waypoint projection! As usual he was searching away... in the wrong paddock. Leason Learnt: Always study cache notes before heading out, even if its a last minute decision.
Nice spot, very peacefull on a saturday afternoon. Saw no angry dogs. Took nothing, left St.Joseph coin (not geocoin) and SL.
Just watch those stray sheep on the way in, they must of got out of their paddock and were muching on the 'greener' grass on the other side of the fence.

Found at 1300. Had to visit this area due to our extensive family history in the RAAF. After some hesitation due to the nearby warning sign we entered the chapel area as the sign seems to be referring to the houses off to the right.
Decide to listen to my GPSr when it said, "Head West", instead of looking south (?), and what do ya know? FOUND..!!!

Yet another DNF on this one....and I even managed to get some expert assistance regarding true north v magnetic north.
(However, it doesn't help if your hunting skills are not up to scratch.)
Might have to wait for someone else to log this one, to be sure it's just my lack of skills that prevents me from finding it. Found PLENTY of spots to hide a cache, but none of 'em were right.

That police dogs sign is a bit off-putting! Found the cache despite not being able to figure out the 25m at 280degrees magnetic. Used caching know-how instead of the GPS this time.

Just relogging due to change of username - the brat boys objected to using my nickname (Makka) when they reckon they are the ones that always find the cache :-
Nice hide - always thought of taking a closer look at this place, and this finally gave me an excuse.
Replaced the bag inside and cleared some rubbish from the area - scored a keyboard and mouse in the process.

Nice spot Alex. Wasn't really sure that I was allowed to go near GZ - you know, police dogs and all that. Our faithful West Highland White Terrier protected us and guided us to the prize. Good hunting!

FINALLY... found this one on the way to a meeting at work. AT last i can put this one out of my mind.
I work on the RAAF base and you did the right thing when u left straight away those pups love human flesh.....
Look, if there was a handler with the dog and you came up with a fairly believable cover story (ie you are researching history etc) then he may leave you alone.
I have been there quite a few times and have not been compromised, but then i have appropiate ID. And i have not found the cache either
Just drive up and park on the side of the road, jump the fence, you should be alright

We just managed to search for a short while before we were interrupted by some kind of RAAF police dog. Since we are foreign citizens we feared that this could become quite troublesome. We are fortunately not normally afraid of dogs, otherwise we would probably have been very scared when it suddenly jumped the fence to get to us.
The dog however just escorted us away from the area, so we managed to go away without being caught...
Is there a way to reach this place without entering any area with "prohibited"-signs?

A quick easy find this time. Nearly a drive past. I didn't have any small swaps so took nothing left nothing. I too was posted here many many years ago and never came across this place. Interesting bit of local history too. Thanks Alex.

Only took a litle while because I didn't have the logs with me! Looked for a few minutes around GZ then decided to look in the obvious spots and found it straight away. A very quaint little chapel. Took the helicopter pin and left Quackers and a bowling man pin. Cheers.
The suggested alternative Co-ords in the logs sent me to where I suspected it might be which was in the opposite direction to the opinion of the GPS. TNLNSL. Thanx.
Nice one... had no idea which way 280deg was, so just had a general snoop...
Since the competition got a mention, thought I'd plug my company too...
Found on my lunch break at nearby Raytheon. In related matters, our current project is installing a GPS antenna for the Hornet jet which is protected from jamming. Recently we've been testing the performance of the antenna by using various jammers provided by DSTO in their field just over the road.
So if your GPS doesn't work in the area, there is probably a good reason why.
If you are interested in the antenna, it's apoproximately 30cm in diameter, and worth about US$30,000 each. But it would give great accuracy for caching!

Nice one,
Have been driving past here going to the base for 4 years now and had not even realised there was a driveway there let alone a Chapel.
Location had me going for a while, knew where it had to be but just couldn't see it, but then AHAH found.
No need for extra coords clues make it obvious just look and think, access is easy.
Took Lizard left TELCOM phone card from NZ.

Found 12:15pm by Green Gecko Gang (only G1 and G2 on lunch break from nearby BAE SYSTEMS). If only we had read the clue properly we wouldn't have been heading over to the paddock... but we found it pretty easily despite our skim reading! We took the spider for G3, G4 and G5 who missed out on this one, and left the BAE SYSTEMS badge. Thanks Alex for providing our lunchtime entertainment!
Thanks for this one Alex. Chose a very hot day to search for this one. Great little church have never been this way before. We knew the area fairly well as Bruce used to work at DSTO and with it being dark by the time we got there it did help. We had a Birthday party interrupt our caching for a while this afternoon [:(!]. Found after a short search, took nothing and left nothing as we had nothing small enough with us. Thanks Alex.
I pretty much knew where this one was from the description and only needed the GPS to find GZ and determine the location of the cache from the directions. Duh, how obvious when you think of it . Had nothing with me that was small enough to leave, so took nothing either.
Took a while to find this one. Felt a bit un-easy after traveling up the private access road and reading the signs on the fence that said Trespassing Prohibited. Anyway the trill of the hunt took over. Took and Left nothing as I was passing with no intention of getting caches. Thanks Alex

I'd forgotten about the bit about 25 metres away. I wandered around in the paddock a bit, and checked inside the fence posts. Then thought I'd check 25 metres away where I thought the cache should be, found the cache, then remembered .
Hadn't brought anything quite small enough, so left and took nothing.

A great spot with a nice feel. I was very intrigued with the nearby “personal†cemetery. If you have time, wander across to this sacred place and check out the Jeffries family. Do a search on “Google†for Jeffries+RAAF to find out more about this family. Left a star and a toy metal soldier. TN.
Clear skies, John
