Suscoe headed north of Ballarat to the Creswick area today in the great company of our mate Bushfire.
It was a cool Summer's day with plenty of cloud cover during the morning and as the day went by the sun poked through every now and again. It rained and drizzled early on but even that dried up during the later parts of the day.
We had a terrific time visiting caches and enjoyed the various hides, locations and containers.
This was our 10th find for the day.
Thanks for this series,

Caching in and around the Creswick district today with Wozzle68 and Bushfire we had this series on our to do list. Even though we have been sitting on the answers for such a long time , we haven't had the opportunity to search for them and add our name to the log. Its unfortunate that this series has since been archived as it is a very old, unique historical cache . All 4 caches are still in place and mostly in good condition.
Thanks Pyrenees Kid for your early innovative style of cache series.
Thanks Pyrenees Kid for your early innovative style of cache series.
Well I am happy to say that all were found in varying condition.
Being an old cache this container is what was the norm back then but the lid has seen better days.
Thanks to the Pyrenees Kid for placing these guys so long ago.

Found these long archived caches each still in tip top condition while in the area with some out of town cachers. It's a shame they could not have been maintained and went the way of the dinosaurs.
Okay. I'm confused. Coords had me right on top of another cache (the lengthy speck) so I thought it was me. A look through the logbook would suggest others have also thought the lengthy speck is actually excel yourself #3. I'm gonna claim it because I'm positive my coords are bang on, just disappointed that it appears 2 caches have been allowed to be placed at almost exactly the same place. Might be time for this excel yourself series to be fully archived.
Sages4 of Creswick found this one on the same day as Excel #1 and Excel #2. Cache in key ring, cache out key.
After working for over 2 weeks on this group of caches, I had the opportunity to try for all four hides today after finishing volunteering duties for the bad ride in Ballarat.
It has taken three trips to Creswick from Bacchus Marsh and two PAF pleas for help and finally I managed to get Excel to reveal all four co-ordinates. Thanks to the friends who helped here.
I tried for this one first. It was the closest to where I was. I was very happy to find the co-ordinates were accurate and the cache found quickly as I was on a very tight time frame today.
As the cache owner is not responding to emails I am happy to help anyone who is stuck. I know the frustration of working hard to solve a puzzle only to be thwarted at the end by a cache gone missing and the owner archive it.
Thanks for the fun Pyrenees Kid

(This NM log will be copied for all four caches in this series as it is based off the same Excel spreadsheet and waypoints)
Multiple waypoints have undergone changes since the creation of this series ten years ago and the spreadsheet has not been solved for almost a year - the most recent Found log before mine is based on answers obtained in the past.
The waypoints that have changed are:
WP5: Presumably refers to a sign, but only a pole remains.
WP10: Another sign that must have been removed. I obtained my answer through brute force - keying in every year since the town's creation to cache's year of publication.
WP15: *Might* be my fault? There is just one structure here, and I used every synonym I could find for it but could not obtain the answer. Note that I also tried the term(s) for it as it is also shown on the map of the area in the carpark a few hundred metres away and was still unable to get it right.
WP19: This information has been missing for at least a year, according to a previous log. There is a circular mark on the ground where a sign must have previously stood.
I also tried to use the 'monument cheat', however either the spreadsheet is bugged or my version of Excel is incompatible. Obtaining the random 'OK' answers only fills in the '?' with '0' for all the missing digits in cache coordinates.
As a result, I had only enough information to locate Excel Yourself #1 and insufficient answers to 'trigger' the bonus questions which might have allowed me to find #2 and #3, let alone the Bonus.
Lastly, the Bonus cache's log is in the hands of Fergzster, another site member, who has been attempting to contact the CO without success so far.

I solved these virtually back in or before 2010 and haven't had the opportunity to attempt a find since...until now.
While on our way from Bendigo to Ballarat we stopped off to find all the caches in the series.
After quite a time trying to locate the bonus cache I ended up searching for this one in the dark, probably not wise with all the mine shafts around!
This one is in plain sight from one side but dry and in good condition. The log book missing so headed back to the car and grabbed a spare.
Thanks for this interesting challenge

Finally completed the co-ords, so ST37E and I set out to find them.

A little over a month ago, my very patient boy friend accompanied me and the geoScotties on a day trip to Creswick from Melbourne for the day. We work away and drove around Creswick, very diligently collecting all the clues for Excel Yourself series. It was really very wet that day, all of us were very wet by the end of the day and unfortunately we had missed out on collecting two of the clues! Oh No! I emailed Pyrenees Kid, as I was fairly sure things had changed since 2003 when this excellent series was set up. A couple of pointers and a return visit today proved that at least one place has changed (I have emailed owner). Today could not have been more different from our last trip, as today was all sunshine and blue skies. We had a great little trip around the town and I am happy to say have been the first cacher to be able to pick up all four caches in the series since GJMMelb in September 2010. Thanks sooooooo much for the series Pyrenees Kid
With one digit missing from my coord string (one 'clue' is missing) it was a case of walking the line to find this cache. Fortunately I found the bounty at the second stop.
Thanks for an unusual series Pyrenees Kid.

An unusual caching concept and a nice gz location, the cache was not in the first place we looked - thanks Pyrenees Kid
After grabbing all the clues on a very enjoyable day around Creswick, this was the first one we went off to collect. A bit apprehensive of the potential for reptiles in the area, but there were none to be found. TFTC series. Very well thought out.
Wow, what a day we had!!!
We started off collecting the information around the town and really enjoyed the way this series of caches was put together!
As we were driving along we were getting more and more conscious of the dwindling battery power on the lap top lol, and ended up closing it down in between the longer waypoints.
One WP required asking the inhabitants for the info and they were most obliging.
We had a bit of a fright at another Waypoints with a Police car there etc, where it is currently a crime scene ( a rock thrown through a window) however the Police allowed GMelb to obtain the info required!
Shortly after this the Laptop died on Q19!!!!!!!!!!
We decided to come back to the house we are staying at in Ballarat to recharge the PC as MMelb wasn't feeling the best and as GMelb needed to visit a cache near Mt Franklin to the info for the final in that series so he decided to grab 2 of these caches on the way back, so he grabbed this one and the bonus one in this nice park just as it was approaching dusk. TNLNSL
We hope to come back to Creswick to grab the other 2 and some others around the town tomorrow if MMelb is feeling better
Thanks Pyrenees Kid for the unique cache

Find 3/12 for the day, found a very short distance from a newly placed cache in this reserve.
Solved the puzzle a little while ago and we are gradually doing the series as time permits.

We finally knocked this over. We had done the rest of the series nearly a year ago, an just hadn't got back out here to finish these last two off.
The GeoFerret spotted this one whilst I was still 10m away.
It must have been the day for cachers to head out this way. We missed Keeper of time by 15 or 20 minutes and it looks like 1/2 a dozen other cachers are logging cachers in the area.
Thanks for an interesting series.
No swaps today.

Found at 1220. Continued on from #2 in the series. A bit further out this one, but the drive was worth it.

cache # 9 of 12 today while out touring around with Mrs acts2.. This one took some time to locate, I checked the hiding spot twice before I finally laid hand on the cache. I dropped of a geocoin.

Found at 1:50pm on our clean up around Ballarat afternoon. Nice easy cache.
Highrod had this as a "to find" and when we arrived at gz he recognised the cache, so after I found it we were off to find #2, the one he hadn't found. DOH!
What do you do when you call in sick, but your not sick enough to stay in bed?...
You go geocaching, right Highrod!

Actually found this one quite some time ago but realised Ive been here before, lucky for me i was coming here anyway with Sandar10. Mortein would have been real handy today with the stormy weather. Cheers Highrod
Another one where we wandered in circles for a bit but then found the cache sitting almost in the open saying "what are you you doing, I'm right here".
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
Round about, and round about, and round about we go...
The GPS couldn't make up its mind where it wanted to be, so we looked in heaps of trees before finding this one.
Thanks, Robmc.

i though i would hide 1 here 1 day but now i'll find a new place. nice spot. very cold.
thanx Pyrenees Kid
A nice quick and easy find after the efforts of doing this one sans lap top. Thanks Pyrenees kid for all the great work in putting this together.
A bit of a drive and eventually I found the right way to the site. A nice walk and a quick find. TNLN thanks for the cache.
This one was an easy find, after finding some nearby "markers" as to where it was. We had a break from finding the first two, sitting down in a Rotunda where we had wedding photos from our marriage earlier this year.

Our third in this series with Mr Coffee and the Pyrenees Kid at another very interesting historic site. The two GPS's were not cooperating at this site insisting on two different areas to search. The cache was located after the GPs's settled down

Although the weather was cold and rain loomed in the skies most of the time, the company of PK and Team Crackers warmed the day and we all set off for this cache.
With PK along as an observer we were unable to get the smallest of hints and with 2 GPS units going in slightly different directions PK headed off on a third just to confuse us all.
Thankfully the two paths led to one and the cache was found and logged.
Many thanks PK for another fun cache in a now familiar town, much enjoyed.

Found by Roma and Max.
Same difficulties were experienced as with #1 & #2, but this time, although we had the answers, we were unable to activate the bonus co-ords. We had a visual scout around for the container, with no success. However, we now believe a solution to the Excel Program is near, and we will then return to complete the series.
We took a Xmas Moose Decoration and Left a Mondo Figurine.
Thanks again Pyrenees Kid,

Ooooh, sneaky camo!
Spent more than a few minutes trying to spot the cache in the usual hideouts, but to no avail. Eventually settling on getting dirty, I had the cache in hand a few moments later.
We took a Picture Frame and left a Car and Ball.

Found after heading for the bonus cache first. Very easy to spot, even from a distance, have placed it in the vegetation right next to where we found it, makes the camouflage paint work look better! Swapped nothing.

This one was easy to find, because the cache was sitting right out in the open for all to see. Of course, the magnificent job of camouflage painting probably prevented its being discovered by the muggles. There is not much can be done to hide it, but I did my best.

Followed andrew to the cache sight as by this time of the day he was straight onto it. He loved this adventure. Once again have no idea what we took or left. We got caught up in it all and forgot to record the info. Thanks Darryn for your babysitting cache series!
This was the final of the Excel Yourself caches that we found. I took a set of Push Pins and left the combination suitcase lock picked up at the number one cache.

Found at 4:40 ahead of Muzza and Kiwideb, where Kiwideb provided the entertainment, by pretending not to be able to see it - right Deb. Pyrenees Kid has done an excellent job in camouflage painting the cache, which must have been why Deb couldn't see it. Swapped out a car deodoriser (little tree) for a tennis ball.
Found by Mary & David at 1410. A wonderful reserve to hide a cache. Some very interesting wildflowers and an Excellent adventure. Took candle, left crayons and hair clips. Our thanks to Pyrenees Kid.
