Falls in full flood today after the hard over night rain.
Slippy walk down to the cache site in the rain. Found in first place I looked. Left car and cards, took knife

Found it easily but only after a funny coincidence. I read the description for Whareora. It reads Left of waterfall and on a well walked but not marked or made track. There was an encrypted hint and it seemed spot on, too. Well, after 30 minutes we decided to check the GPS coordinates and it read 13 miles away! Weren't we surprised when we realized we were reading the WRONG description!! Once we got out Wairua Falls, we went right to it. Nice area, falls a bit short of falls. Will return after heavy rains. We did enjoy a great picnic lunch.
I drove in via Otaiko Valley Road and was held up multiple times for the (needed) roadworks but what nice countryside. I am impressed with the amount of tree cover and the stone walls, but as I arrived at the falls so did the rain.
I slipped and slid around in the rain for nearly 30 minutes until I went back and re-read the instructions and then went straight to it. An inkjet printout can get hard to read after a few minutes in the rain!

Thanks Green Eagle

Easy find, GPS marks accurate. Falls were most disappointing as there was no water. All the water is being diverted by Northpower!!!
In Super glue out Beatrix Potter book. Put cache in new plastic bag.

Excellent hunt Spent about an hour and a half exploring nooks and crannies before stumbling on the right one!
Could be the next site for a CITO event? I couldn't fit the car wreck into the rubbish bag!
Falls spectacular after the rain, but I suspect the spray was playing around with the reception of the satellite signals. Ankle support recommended.
- Shotglass + Startac Cellphone (for young Yuppies to practice with
Wet and bleeding, but not muddy. Great sport this! - Onto Waro Walk....

Only 2 1/5 terrain difficulty? Perhaps Green Eagle has longer legs than GoGranny (or perhaps he flew in!) Excellent hide, only spotted it when I stood up and looked around, having seen it, wondered how I missed it before. In Megella TB (probably the closest thing to rain forest she will see in Northland), Beatrix Potter poetry book and small shampoo. Out penguin (for grand daughter). Zip lock bag round the cache is looking a bit battered, could next cacher in please take a replacement. Thank you, Geen Eagle (I think)

Hi Green Eagle: This must be a delight on a warm sunny summers day - however today Whangarei recorded it's monthly rainfall in one day. There are a lot of rocks with flax bushes on top and big trees beside them - eventually I found the right one. I'm wet, I'm dirty so I think I will go and try for Whau Valley - Freefall
Thanks for cache in a beautful area. I was here a week ago thinking that one day I will place a cache here not thinking I would be back so soon. So many hiding places. Was pleased to crack it.
Took nothing out, put in ruler and fuse wire.
Cheers
