There was no bench seat so couldn't find this one.

This needs checking. The items are gone and no sign of where one of them had been which made it impossible to really search in correct area.
Couldn't find it anywhere despite a good search. There has been a digger in there and the clues were missing so maybe it needs checking.

Think we found the right Hint feature at GZ (although no 'thing' that is supposed to be 20M due east of Cache). Don't think its here.
This was probably the longest mission today. GPS was of no use and we were about to give up when the eagle-eye spotted the cache. Nice area on a lovely autumn day.
I had driven by here many times and presumed it was just a picnic area what an eye opener when I went for a wander at lunchtime today.
Thanks

was well and truly muggled by campers. had to explain what we were up to when the kids ran from the bush yelling "found it, found it". Campers had never heard of geocaching and were going to look up the site when they get home.

Great spot for a cache. Found with Yeetrees. Our coords were out by ~10m, but we managed to find the cache by extending our search and using the hint. Note: the picnic table and bench seats are no longer there.

Found with YuGeo4, took a while to find due to some of the things that should be there were not there, so made it a bit of a mission to find but found it in the end safe and well. TFTC TNLNSL (1377)
even living so close I had never been here(sad really) What a lovely place to take the kids TFTC
We had a similar experiance as previous cacher Nimrod had on this one. A widened search secured the cache. Nice little picnic spot for a summers day. TFTC
My GPS r insisted I look at another example of the clue. I told it off and it selected another one and bingo, a smiley
Field full of New Year's campers and team of Clydesdales. Nearly gave up after searching every wrong place in South Canterbury.
Found it - after a pretty massive hunt. Coords put me well into the bush - which it isn't. The hint didn't seem that useful - as I never saw the 'start point' - possibly because it was at night. Also the second item mentioned in the hint doesn't exist as such any more - it's just a few bits of wood. But once I worked that out - the last bit did help me to realise that the coords were well out - and I finally found it. It's still dry. TNLN.
It ceratinly was wet. I replaced box with a slightly smaller one and, hopefully water tight. In the cache is a log book and pencil & pencil sharpner.

Echo comments about condition of cache. Absolutely soaking. Couldn't write in logbook so left slip of paper with details on it to record my visit. Litter and beer bottles all around.
I saw in the logs that it need replacing so I took a replacement cache there but could not find the cache so it was not replaced.
A bit out of the way, but good to stop and find another campsite. The log, as mentioned, is rather damp TNLN Thanks.
Nice spot to visit. Unfortunately, as others have mentioned, the log book is totally saturated.
Lovely spot but took a bit of a search before finding this one. Log book totally drenched, only just managed to mark my mark and note the date.

Cache totally drenched! I emptied the litre of water inside and thought the logbook's bag may have escaped. Unfortunately not, it contained some water too and the logbook was impossible to write in.
Coordinates a little off, but not so bad that I couldn't find it by a little bit of searching.
Lovely location for a cache, but it really seems to need more visitors to keep in in a reasonable state.
TNLN.

We think co-ords were off but still found it.
Both of us were attacked by biddybids! I will be finding them in my hair for a while to come I think!
Cache was carrying quite a bit of water..

This took a little finding. Must have looked funny walking around in circles trying to get a fix.

Took a bit of finding as the gps insisted on pointing us at a bush 10 metres from the cache.... inside of the container was damp, but the contents of the bags were dry.. TNLN TFTC
I can scratch this one from my grudge list now. GPS was dancing like a dervish again - must be the hills. Cache was wet again. I dried it out, added some silica and sealed it as best I could, but if it gets that wet again the gel packs won't help much.
- assorted golf bits, to reappear at a new cache as soon as it's reviewed.
+ glo-signs, vaguely appropriate to the location.

Fun drive in, I came from the south on some great gravel roads. Walked in to the cache site, had a look around, used the hint, and found the cache under one of the likely specimens. Cache was quite damp and could have done with a proper sealed airtight container. Cheers Gav [915]
Found at dusk, just as we were about to give up. We were there with Dud's Buds and spent about 30mins fossicking around in the clump of the bushes that the clue pointed to as our GPS accuracy was bad at the time. (+/- 12m) The cache was very wet, as a few others have mentioned. There was a centimeter or so of water in the bottom, which we drained out, and contents were a bit damp. TNLN. Thanks.
Ditto from "Adventure"... Was good to get back into a warm veichle. TNLN. Thanks
Well, Jolden, you can stop worrying - the cache is still there - though the contents were very wet. I dried things out as much as I could, but it needs maintenance. It would be better to replace the old press-lid box with a snaplock one and some silica gel, as it is in a very damp spot under its cover. (Wrapping it in a plastic bag always makes the wetness much worse, so don't do that). This location is a lovely peaceful spot, and well worth a visit - several campers said "Hi" as I wandered past. The instructions in your hint are spot on.
No swaps, thanks Jolden and cheers from Grandalf(464)

We fossicked and hunted and checked all around, but as hard as we looked it refused to be found. It's been over 6 months since anyone logged a find on this one - is it still there?
A nice day, bit hard to find, but we did it. We stayed the night, had a few wines by the fire, a nice evening and a nice place. The cache was a bit wet, we tried to dry it, everything was OK inside the plastic bags.
GPS accuracy was out but clue lead me right to it. Loved this little place - will come camping here in summer I think - definitely.
Cache had water in it but plastic bags kept the contents dry - emptied the water out

Found the cache without too much trouble.
All was safe and well, although there was some water in container; we drained it out.
Took nothing
Left a small keyring tag, we got from "Temuka Duck Refuge".
Cheers Jolden.

Great place. also for camping. The next morning the rain almost had caught us, a lot of ford's were full of white-water.
This one was not found for a long time allthough there were a lot of footsteps around. Do kiwi's not log a NOT-FOUND... haha!

It's long time ago - i was on youth exchange in New Zealand.
I made with friends of my host family a 4 wheel drive, had a great day there - and I remember we found some geocaches...
This was one of them, at one other I'm not sure.
Makes a long slump time...

Daughters Comment "Bit of a tricky one, we were looking about 10 metres to the right of cache. Had to resort to using clues after damaging fingernails hunting around. No.1 daughter not so cocky now."

There were some young'uns practicing their fire-twirling in the Reserve (with ribbons, not flames) so we went a little further along and came in from the top of the Gorge.
The clue helped us find the cache, then we surprised the twirlers by coming out from where we hadn't gone in!
Took: the Chopin/Albeniz tape (Klemperer's a little Teutonic for Chopin...)

Quick stop by on the way from the "Under the Mountain" cache to Waimate. No difficulty once I had loaded in the revised coords. Found the cache under the 2nd bush I searched. + octopus keyring. - candle. Cheers.
I see from the logs that the co-ords have been corrected.
Took us ages to find, trying to use the old co-ords, until we finally decided to try by the clue alone.

We weren't too far away but still had to use the hint. It's a nice quiet spot and the brilliant weather added to the pleasant outing.

Decided to use the hint in light of other people's comments. Found it quickly this way. But they were right - the coordinates are way out. Try these ones instead: S44 31.427 E170 55.638.
