Out with rattll after work to find the daily cache. She'd failed to find this one last year, but was keen to have another go following replacement. At GZ, still difficult to find amongst the aggies. We spent about ten minutes poking about before turning up the container. Very nice to find this older cache. All good, signed, and returned as found. Tftc!
I'd had a look for this one before, but it appears it was AWOL.I returned with matagouri for a second attempt. It still took a bit to locate it. Reading some previous logs helped, and then poking about with a stick, listening for the clink of a container did the trick .It's great to finally get this nice 'oldie' ticked off. Thanks for looking after this cache MCC
(# 8639) As it is a long weekend in Wellington I took a caching jaunt up to the Waikato and Bay of Plenty with TwigNZ, NZ_B and Itchyfeet2020. Stayed in Tokoroa which was the centre of the caching universe for this weekend. Day 2 was going to Te Awamutu, Mt Pirongia and Hamilton. We wanted to get this old one and luckily there were many sets of eyes to find this one. I must admit Aggies is not one of my favourite search spots but we got there.Logs were either signed MINT (being our initials) or Mr-Mcgoo.Thanks McCutchan Cache Clan for bringing me here.
Team MINT (Mr-Mcgoo, Itchyfeet2020, NZ_B & TwigNZ) are up in the central north exploring. This cache was on our list. We got lucky with a recent replacement, thank you CO, you made these wellingtonions very happy, as this is a missing month for me for my NZ Jasmer. After climbing to the Ruapene lookout on Pirongia, we arrived here a little muddy! We took the hint too literally and had to expand our search a little back to GZ area. Thank you McCutchen cache clan.
Having taken yesterday off as leave, and with Monday being Wellington Anniversary, I am making the most of a 4-day weekend by spending it with friends in the Waikato in order to try to target a few specific caches up here and otherwise boost my numbers for January. Our crew consists of Mr-Mcgoo, Itchyfeet2020, NZ_B and myself TwigNZ, and so to save space on logs we simply signed our finds today with either MINT or Team MINT depending on log size.Today involved a great deal of driving to a lot of beautiful places which make me want to come back and spend a lot more time at. One of the joys of geocaching for me is that I get to see places that I wouldn't have thought to visit otherwise, but often you just get a 'taste' of a place because you're rushing off to get another cache somewhere.Coming to Hamilton would allow us to meet up with some friends who have recently relocated here from Wellington/Manawatu so were looking forward to catching up with them over a meal and some drinks, but before then we still had a few targeted caches we wanted to find such as this one which was wanted as a Jasmer Grid filler by at least 1 of our team.It was a scorching day, so being able to hunt with a bit of shade was actually very welcome. My phone put me right on top of where I would eventually find the cache, but initially second guessed ourselves and took the Hint literally. When that didn't yield a cache I then went back and trusted my phone which allowed me to make the find, almost exactly a year since the previous find.As one might expect there were absolutely no issues with either container or log, and we soon had our team name entered before the whole thing was replaced as found. Thanks for setting this one up, and keeping it going.
Even with the hint, I couldn't find it. Although I didn't feel like digging around in and under all the plants
Like those before me it was a did not find but i could not help myslef but to stop here as i need this month for my jasmer record and so i had to try but like the others i did not find it very sad but the bridge is still looking quite good despite the discolouration Its line are graceful and pleasing to my eye .
No luck here today!! Second day in the land of the long white cloud. TeamARF JACSTeam and myself heading on an adventure! Much fun had today . Had the chance to meet some fab local cachers at an event then after grabbing a few more around the Auckland CBD , we headed north. A cute letter box and signed a few challenges to work on. Thanks for the amazing array of caches .
Driving Hamilton to Auckland today and picking up some caches on the way.
Will expand on my logs, post photos, qualifying caches for challenges, etc. When I get home. TFTC
After disappointment in October I'm glad to finally get this one, especially as it's a missing month. Plus I found a better place to park!

Run/walk/cache day today from Fonterra to the perry bridge. Wet and humid! Easy find which was nice because no one wants to spend too much time hanging around a pigeon infested under bridge.
Day out along the Te Awa on our bikes with TEAM SEAC after a prior rained-out mission. Lovely day hanging with fab friends and finding some caches along the way. Sadly this cache was a fail.
Was out with Team SEAC on another adventure. Riding this route was in the making for a while but due to weather conditions, we had to put it off another month, till today!

A little while ago Mrs NZTravellers suggested we have a day out to ride this trail...unfortunately the original date that was planned had really rough weather so this was the alternative date. A group of around 12 of us turned up and off we went. It was a usual Team SEAC outing with adventure, laughter and a few mishaps along the way!
Some left their bikes at the top, others rode down to GZ. We searched and searched (even had a couple of previous finders...but they couldn't remember too much ).
Loved the view from here but unfortunately no cache for us today.

A sizeable group of Team SEAC had decided to bike the first stage of the Te Awa Bike Ride from Ngaruawahia to the Botanical Gardens in Hamilton. This was our second attempt, as some particularly nasty weather thwarted our previous attempt before we even got started. Luckily, today the weather played ball and we enjoyed a pleasant day's bike ride along the mighty Waikato River.
Sorry that I am not able to post my usual stories about each and every cache that we came across, but I am too buggered after the ride. So generic logs it is this time. We still appreciate all the work that goes into the caches that we found, and thank the COs for planting the caches along this lovely track. We really enjoyed the bike ride and the caching.
Unfortunately, today was not to be our day to find this cache. We will have to come back another day and have another go.

Out with members of Team SEAC cycling the Te Awa Bike trail. Awesome day out and a total of 34kms! Thanks for placing this cache and getting outside on our bikes
No joys for us today

Decided to pop down to Horotiu today and go for a walk for a few caches.
This one was easy as...
First place I looked.
Cheers for an old cache!

Nice last cache of the day as we returned to the car after a nice river walk to the new walk bridge. A holiday expedition with CMac246 and the geo-grandkids. This is the perfect level of challenge for the geo-grandkids and they are soo excited as they find each cache.
A nice quick find thanks.
Ms_KR and I are on our annual pilgrimage to Auckland for our family Christmas. Today we cruised around some of the Waikato on the way home. Please excuse the generic logs, there have been a few finds and they get muddled up sometimes.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Day 31 of my TA adventure and a casual walk into the city grabbing a few along the way..

Old cache for me. I needed this month placed date for my grid. Thanks the McCutchan cache clan for adopting the cache so that I could find it to fill in the month.
Travelling for two weeks with Kiscardi

TFTC - quickly find today as we head north to find mainly TMTG caches with NZ Bozzy but we also decided to grab some missing placed month caches.
Thanks for maining these older caches

Found after a short search. Cache in good condition. Stayed for a picknick at the riverside. Thanks for hiding.
We tried this one some time back but strangely there was a car blocking the path! No car this time and the cache located reasonably quickly. Tftc

After a quick look before our phone died, we had no luck finding this cache. Will try again on another trip. Must be well hidden.
Not my favourite flora for caching in, but I gave it a fairly decent search. Could still be hidden in that lot somewhere, but not for me today.
After a few searches over the years I can FINALLY turn this into a yellow smiley. I had been doubting it was even here but as it kept being found I knew it had to be hiding somewhere.
Thank goodness for perseverance!
Or sheer pig headedness.

Nice old cache but couldn't make the find after 15 minutes.

Hunted about here there and everywhere... hmm... possible DNF then tap tap tap... aha... Mr had it in his hands... found under a spiders web - still intact - signed log... seems a lot of the recent finders not on the logbook...? Possible throw down here? Nice spot anyway...
No luck for us today. From previous logs it seems that you need to leave the path for this one so it might be worth updating the description and terrain rating to avoid confusion.
Lots of Aggies to check, we'll be back.

Actually found it on the 4th, (five days ago), but forgot to log it! Another geocache on this walk that was camouflaged, good work.
A quick easy find in the rain, after being startled by the pigeons fleeing their roosts under the bridge. TFTC
A beautiful stretch along the Waikato River with enough caches to keep the kids walking and engaged.
Decided to get the bike out and head over to do some bike trails and few other caches in the northern area. The weather was beautiful and I loved the nice path and great bridges. Thanks to the COs for some great cache placements. Tricky placement here as cache blends in well TFTC
The other half of Pazza2 managed to scrape together 3 bikes to start our year with a geocaching cycle ride. We were most impressed with this quality cycle way and we got some ideal weather with it. This was our first cache of the day so after seeing the hint and the area, followed by searching for what seemed longer than I cared too, Merlot58 came up with the goods. I knew we brought her along for good reason! tftc
Pazza2 invited me to join them and start off the New Year with a cycle ride on this very cool cycle way. I think I had a look of horror on my face when I saw all the aggies and Wandering Jew but after a longish search I managed to come up with the goods well covered by the weeds
I made my way down to GZ after reading previous logs suggesting it's under the bridge rather than above. Being rated terrain 1, I had high hopes it would be by the side and easily reachable. After ruling that out, and a previous logs suggesting a bit more searching on the side, I started the search. There is lots of undergrowth there, making a proper search almost impossible. I searched as much as I could but with barely anything to go on, and the fact it could be anywhere in that area, I had to settle for a DNF after 15 minutes of looking.
There is no way to get this cache unless you hop off the path. I was looking for something smaller, so when I found the cache, I was wondering how I could have missed it for so long. TFTC.
Took shelter under the bridge from a passing rain shower while I located the cache. The rain cleared after about ten minutes, and I continued across the bridge and on my way along the bike trail, TFTC
Last one along here. Took way longer than it needed to. Been an awesome walk along here today. Tftc
With a break in the weather the only thing I really had to do today was geocache. I had no plans so enlisted TNXPro and Squirrelnutcase to search for a worthy adventure. What no one knew at the time was this adventure would span 21 hours, cover 3 regions and we'd have Davidson clan join us at the half way point. A crazy day but there's no denying - it's a lot more fun with friends!
It was a tricky area to search especially with the conflicting logs but we got there in the end. It's not a difficult size, camo or location but somehow it just eluded us. To update the hide - river side about a meter from the path. The aggies aren't the problem it's all the wandering jew. Nice to pick up an oldie like this though, cheers MCCC for keeping this one going. TFTC

The weather was looking perfect for a caching trip, so myself, Philip.Perry and Squirrel.Nutcase joined forces and decided to hit the Waikato area to try clear Squirrels map.
Nothing about this cache hide was easy or quick. Under the shelter of the bridge, the GPS was all over the place and wouldnt settle.
We had read all the conflicting logs and rearranged all the Agapanthus we could see. We ransacked the Wandering Dew, (which will recover by tomorrow) and even tried PAF, but the cache would not reveal itself, even though Squirrel had found this before.
After more than a half hour search, we had nearly given up, when one last sweep of an area not quite totally trampled and P.P reaches in and pulls up the cache - just like that. I just wish he did that to start with! Its like the Novaflow pipe was pointing to it!
With all the overgrown creeper here, its difficulty rating should be higher, however it really lived up to its namesake.
It was a Horror too!

Well this horror of a cache had me searching awhile. Even had cold bike tyres. BUT got the sucker in the end.
On a road trip and this was the first find of the day. A bit of a horror to find. Discovered that I must have an allergy to the sap of the aggies, probably because I spent so much time checking every bush, but obviously not the right one. Eventually I found what I was looking for, and can happily say the log was at last signed and I was on my way
A very busy area with muggles passing by cycling the along the river!
