Too much maintanace required as location gets too wet and people don't put lid on cache properly.
Found this one exposed and damp! At first we thought the tree that was down was covering the cache, but then we spoted it, clear as day. Interesting spot, the number of times we have been passed here and didn't even see the sign . TNLNSL
Thanx for the cache Panic!, and for making us actually see this sign.
Edit: Panic!, sorry to read that this cache has been archived and that it has caused you so much frustration. Glad we had the opportunity to find it.

Went to visit cache and found that it was barely covered. After going to all the trouble of putting coveing of leaves and so on over it last time I replaced the log book I just guess I've lost patience with careless people who just don't put the covering back on the cache. That and the huge amount of vandalism of this cache has made me FED UP with this one.
This is just a too high maintence cache and is going to be archived soon.

This was an extremely easy find, considering the cache was out in the open. Missed the Coffee Clan by about an hour, seems like we are following them!!!

The first of our Canberra caches. The cache was not covered except for a few sticks around it and we were unsure if this was how it was meant to be. We signed the log and placed it back how we found it and continued on.
Thanks for the cache Panic!,

Found it. A very easy one for my niece (Jasmine) and I, and reasonably close to home. Gradually trying to get through all of the caches close in. The plastic tub has warped a fair bit and the lid easily pops off. Container may need replacing at some point soon.

Tenth and last cache find for the day on a trip from Adelaide to Canberra. Dropped off Ryan's Rhino TB at the gateway of the Nations Capital. Cheers!
Visited this cache and installed a new log book, pen and zip lock bag. Used leaf litter from nearby fallen tree to conceal cache better. Replaced batteries in camera.
This cache has now been vandalised at least 3 times over the past 6 weeks by the same person. He is about 160-175 cms tall, short brown hair, somewhat stocky to obese build, light and smooth face complexion, no facial hair, probably in late twenties to early thirties and seems to have a blue garmin type GPSr.
This cache will be off line for at least the next month.

This cache is off line as some one seems to have vandalised it.
I will head up this week end to repair the cache and add a log book. Fortunately I now know who is doing this, he is one of the regular cachers in Canberra and has vandalised a number of my caches in the past. Notably, I've never met him in person.

Disappointed that caches are abandoned like this one, looking like rubbish. The contents were strewn over both states with the container open and no log book to be seen.
Can someone either maintain this cache or archive it as it seems no one cares about this cache
Cleaned up cache, restored it and left disappointed....

Kids soon had the area sussed but walked around it for a bit. Finally the older eyes saw something not quite natrual and the cache was found.

Replaced cache and made sure lid was on.

Quick find on the way to Yass. Still room on the reverse pages in pad if in no rush tnln thanks panic!
Quite an easy find, ideal if you're showing a geo-newbie how it's done. Like the camouflaged box. I wasn't quite sure where to write in the log, entries all over the place, perhaps it should be replaced? Thank you... TNLNSL.
Decided to drop into City Gates 2 on our way out of town headed for Central New South Wales. We were very fortunate and managed to pick up two TBs and take them a bit further on their journey. It was great an easy find. Unfortunately we will not be able to reunite Barney with Arnie as we are not heading to California but hopefully he will enjoy his trip around Australia. We are also taking Cinco de Cacho with us but think they will enjoy themselves in different caches. This was our third cache and we are hooked!!
Couldn't find this one in the dark so tried again in the day for an easy find. Dropped off 2 Travel Bugs. Barney - Twin of Arnie and Cinco de Cacho.

To finish 3 for the day, and to have given Jason a taste of Geocaching (K's not keen on him getting into it now with him finishing his MBA the same time their baby is due), we headed to the City Gates 2 and quickly had a nice easy one in hand.

It's nice to nail an easy find every now and then. Too easy! Also had someone drive past us at GZ and toot his horn. Could this have been another local geocacher who guessed what we were doing there? We may never know...

2nd Cache for the day, Accidently drove past the ACT Border so had to do a U-Turn and come back. Cache was suprisingly easy to find but still lots of fun. Andgps
Cant wait to do The Valley 2

Been past here a few times always stopped for a pic, The cache is a bonus for the stop.
I thought the muggles would see, But no!A good easy find great work!
This is No 2 for the day.

This is No 2 for the day.
My second find now. Boy, there were lots of big ants. Sure you won't find them where i came from...
Number five for the night. You wouldn't read about it! When I got near GZ, there was a 4x4 parked right in front of the ACT sign! What to do? Just pull up and go bush anyway? Approach from the rear of the sign, and hope to be concealed? Just as I was about to try the latter, an NRMA truck turned up, and the bloke started to change her tyre. I waited. Eventually, he finished and they both left.
A short search ensued, and it proved to be an easy find at 2330, just like "City Gates 1" last night. The cache and contents are in good order, which surprised me, given that the container is not particularly waterproof. It's funny that a container like this has dry contents, and yet other, better sealing containers end up with half a cup of water in them. I enjoyed the cache, and it's a pleasure to find a nice traditional cache that doesn't involve a walk uphill. TNLNSL.

Found by The ELTHAM Mob. A first find for our newest member. Thanks for a nice find, also gave us an excuse for the "I've changed states" tourist photo
Thought we might help Uni's Racing Unicycle on its way to Adelaide but it was not in the cache.
T: Lamb (destined to become a TB)
L: Toy car

Our first torch-light find! Really just an excuse to drop the travelling unicycle off so he can hitch a ride to Adelaide!
Took what we thought was a small green echidna but later discovered (with some realistic lighting) that he had ARABIA tattooed on his butt! Don't think they have echidnas in the middle east - might he be a hedgehog? or porcupine? Left a rope watch in his place.
Nice easy find - no trouble with muggles in the dark!

Thanks Panic for making me drive over the border to do this cache, Pitty it wasn’t on the NSW side so it could have claimed it as our first NSW cache

Ah, my last stop after a whirlwind tour of the northern caches. Accidentally stood on the ant-patch behind the ACT sign. Big Mistake! The little buggers were crawling and biting all over me. Must have been amusing for passing motorists to see me dancing away Took grasshopper (to be my entrance key for Bug Off), left Rove sticker.
Had a chat with the owner of 4 German Shepherds who walk past twice every day (have been mentioned in the log previously too) on the other side of the fence. Must see plenty of geocachers as he knew I was "treasure hunting". Local dog owners walk around a loop track at set times each day, on land they maintain but is owned by the RTA (formerly the highway through Hume).

Woah - look out for the dog excersise area over the fence, my wife almost jumped out of her skin when some german shepards came running over for a look ! Left "Ruff" TB hopefully he's a little closer to home [^]
We should have read the log and brought along a new container - as actgranite suggested - Ruff might be in for a wash.

Found by children even before the GPS had locked on. Left Arabia hedgehog and something. It would be good to have a waterproof container in case it ever seriously rained (1 mm today - woohooo).
Just catching up on my logs now that i again have computer access, first one for my son he almost fell on it. took two cars forgotten what was swapped.
Continuing my exploration of Canberra and environs...
Is this cache still looking for a new caretaker? I am happy to take it on, together with its sister, for the next couple of years. Am doing a course at ANU.
Swapped coasters for measuring tape.
Mr Darcy
PS there are a few smelly items in this cache. Will swap them out next time I am heading that way (Probably when A-Z takes me there. Am up to K so far)

Off on a morning MTB loop, and City Gates 2 is my first stop. Found it eventually. Took the blue car, left a fridge magnet. The cache container is getting a little warped from the weather and is not sealing properly. A nice excuse for a ride through Hall.
Oops - getting my gates confused, I tried logging this one as #1 and wondered why my travelbug wasn't there!
Found at 5pm after being on the road since 8am from Victoria! Wonderful to be able to pull over close by and stretch my legs...
No difficulty finding the container - liberated TB Mardyboy and a small dinosaur, left a candle. Thanks Panic!

Found this one at 11am on our way out of Canberra heading back to SA. Easier to access this cache than a couple of other Panics we tried in the last 2 days.
Sat on the ACT wall to log the find and watched the traffic in and out of the Territory.
We intended to leave Mardy Boy's TB Parasite, so swapped him for TB Swedish Chef - at least SA will be warmer for him at the moment.
Thanks Panic!

Found at approx 4.30pm, first of 3 for the evening. Nice easy find to start us off for the day...Cache in good condition. Took Present Christmas Tree Ornament and left a Grasshopper.
What a valentine's day...... found with KittenMeow (?) and Fergle on a day's caching....unfortunately our fourth member Mr BundyB (who had already found this cache and was loitering with intent) slipped over and gashed his hand open ....so it was a quick first aid stop in Hall on the way (why is it the first time I DON'T take a first aid kit caching, someone injures themselves........DAMN YOU MURPHY)
See traineediplomat's log....left the Swedish Chef TB...but since BundyB/Kitten owned that, I'll let them log that.
Another find on my Northern loop for the day. Found easily enough. Only just logged this in, but there was no TB there, when I was there - I guess I was there before the others on this day.

All of my caches are 'for sale' as I'll be moving soonish. Simply post a note announcing you'd like to 'buy' it, then go make a $2 of more dollar donation to a registered charity, post a pic of the recipt on the cache and I'll contact Embi to transfer it to you. Please do not 'buy' a ccache some one else has intended to buy. Seperate donations required for seperate caches.
Good easy find. I was going past so thought I would stop in.

Our last find of the day (making 6 in total). I've never been out of Canberra this way so it was nice to go somewhere new. Found it easily even though the GPS was telling me it was on the other side of the fence. Thanks for a fun afternoon Panic! TNLN
Found by Mary & David at 1040 - our last Canberra cache and the last on this trip for us as we head south again. Appropriate that it is another Panic cache as City Gates 1 was our first when we arrived on Sunday afternoon. Took purple curling ribbon, left a little book about stress by Kaz Cooke. Thanks to Panic for this and all the other Panic caches we've found these last two days.
Due to a change in personal circumstances I will not be able to maintain the cache for much longer. It will be archived some time in the next two weeks. If you have items left here that you would like to retrive please visit the cache and remove them.
Kindest regards, Panic!

After being cachenabbed this cache was redeployed on the afternoon of the 9th November. Many thanks again to the Hill4 team.
Didn't find it...but it was only a cursory glance as I returned from nearby hamlets
After reading Panic's log above....No wonder I didn't find it.

Our second cache today. It was clearly visable as soon as we got around the sign so we covered it with leaves and debris to try to make it a little less conspicuous to any geo-muggles who may wander by.
Left a Christmas present and took a frog.
Pleased you found the ring.

The ring is back in Spindoc Bob's hands. I travelled out to the area this morning with a metal detector. Meet up with 2 Leg Drive and then met KarmicKev from Adelaide. Within ten minutes the detector was buzzing and KarmicKev uncovered the ring. Excellent!
We all gathered for a group photo (complete with metal detector).
We all gathered for a group photo (complete with metal detector).
Well that’s good news indeed!
Now a new question arises – would metal detectors make good tools for hunting caches? Maybe Garmin or Magellan can build a metal detector with a GPS in the handle?

Found this cache just before Spin Doc Bob arrived with the metal detector. Nice easy find. The occasion turned out to be a mini caching get together because at the same time Spin Doc Bob arrived the KarmicKev team pulled up too. So all we needed then was the BBQ for the cache picnic. With all the keen eyes and metal detector the ring was found within minutes. KarmicKev was the one to pick the ring up from its hiding spot on the ground and on first inspection decided that it could not have been the correct one because it looked a bit to golden but Spin Doc was quick to grab the ring and confirm it was the correct one. A happy result all round.
BTW left the going somewhere bug.
BTW left the going somewhere bug.
The fellowship of the ring is not failing - we were united with fellow cachers (Spin Doc Bob and 2 Leg Drive) in the search for the Ring of Power - a wedding ring so its her power - not his.
Nice to catch up with some fellow cachers. Spin Doc Bob wouldn't let me keep the Precious - we'll fix him
Thanks - I now see that Gates 3 is ready - we'll have to return soon to finish the set and pick up the remaining ACT caches as well.

On arriving at the location we found 2 other cachers as karmickev described in his log so visually we helped them find the ring and then logged the cache.
It was quite a emotional occasion for me as I was setting free a travel bug i've had in my possesion for the last 4 or 5 months. I had brought the "Pat the dog" bug over with me from England and got him a little step closer to his goal of getting to New Zealand. Good bye my friend

A fairly easy find during my lunch break. Took TB and left some Tazo-Tops (unopened).
I found the cache (quite quickly) but further searching failed to find the ring. I even came back later with a torch (and batteries ... they help) to try for that elusive metallic glint. Numerous false positives from all the broken glass made things difficult, and I swear the grass was glinting in the torchlight. It didn't help that I couldn't backtrack your cache-hunting trip (me not being you nor a mindreader and all). Hopefully you'll have far better luck on a return visit than I did.
A virgin cache for Spindoc Bob. The rain held off enough for me to find this cache and leave a sad looking frog. Unfortunately the lightning made me rush my escape back to the car and I left more than I intended (my wedding ring) . Please contact me if you find it while searching for the cache.
Beaten by Spindoc Bob by 9 hours! – Oh well, at least I had no lightning, and lovely sunshine instead this morning... After finding, I managed to experience the morning traffic coming in from this side of town – I’m glad I don’t need to do that every day!
Didn’t find the wedding ring, didn’t realise you lost it till putting up my entry just now (ie I didn’t keep an eye out for it).
Took nothing, but left Croc Dundee Travel Bug.
