Found on the 14th of Sept on a very rainy day. We were staying nearby at Banksia Peninsula for the weekend with Gippsland Adventure Therapy. Apologies for the late logs.

Despite being in and around the area many times, this was the first time we have been to Banksia Peninsula. The start of the walk looked a bit sketchy but soon it followed the old road passing by all the camps.
Got to the point of the peninsula and I have never seen such a large number of coots, there were thousands. What a sight!
Any way cache was found in good condition thanks to the new container

Heading down to Bairnsdale for the weekend. Will have to get a few caches while I am out and about. My centroid is in South Australia so I would like to bring it a bit more to the west. Driving my parents across and coming back by train to meet up with Dromaniax for some evening caching on the way home from Tynong Station. Nice hide. Staying with my muggle brother who lives here on Banksia Peninsula. He came for the walk to show me around. Very pretty place and we saw hundreds of water birds as we walked around. Cache was healthy and happy.
Thanks for the cache Nutcache

Found, container falling to bits. I'll replace it.

28-Nov-22
A bit of a bush bash to get to the spot but there is an amazing view. Probably better to come in by boat if possible and it is not even close to stroller friendly. A fantastic cache with a superb view. We felt a bit special having been the first people since the 25th January to sign the log. Cache container are a bit busted but contence is dry.

09-Feb-21
I took the trail from the 'No Road' sign to find this cache. Good track until right at the end when it wax a bit of a bush bash. About 4.5km return walk but lovely and peaceful.

Condition Report:. Good
Log Book: lots of room in newer log book

Thanks for hiding this cache Cache Guardians

I'd planned to head over to this cache after I visited [CG5JDYE Green Point](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC5JDYE_green-point) but after the fun of over 2km paddling into a 25km/hr headwind, I nearly chickened out. Then I realised I'd have to either come back with my kayak or do the long walk in the description to claim this cache so I gritted my teeth and paddled on. At least the wind was almost from behind me so it wasn't *quite* as difficult.
It took a bit of bush bashing and I didn't see anything I'd call a track but the cache was easy enough to locate.

Thanks for find #1775

Went for a walk along the beach on a windy day. Still plenty of mozzies-do not underestimate them! Scrubbed around a bit but then found it in a classic spot. Container is weathered and no longer seals so needs replacing. first cache for Miekefinder! TFTC

Out exploring today with manzie (with a bite to eat at Loch Sport). We saw a pod of dolphins casually swimming around Smile Manzie looked after the boat while I went off to locate GZ. Started heading up the middle before realising I had to backtrack and walk around the edge. Cache was found after a short search at GZ. Thanks for the cache Smile

After taking wrong turn after wrong and trying to remember the google maps image I had seen that morning, I finally found it! One of my favourite spots in the area with an inspiring story behind the camps.

Nice find. Thank you. Am staying at one of the camps so it made a beautiful afternoon even more so. Left a kangaroo - seemed appropriate for the area.

Out on a weekend away at the lake house. Our friends have a property by the lake. Because his father helped build the camps that stein the peak we were able to walk through the private property. On my way there I somehow lost my pencil! So I was very excited to see that there was one inside. We enjoyed the local nature and wildlife! Thanks for the cache. It was our friends first cache experience.

I have my eye on this cache since I started caching. I've tried to once before but the weather turn bad so I had to call it off. Today, I've finally marked this spot on the map with a smiley.

I was down in Paynesville for a fishing weekend with Driftwoodsound.

Next morning after our coffee and egg & bacon rolls (it was nice tucker) from the bakery near the Old Pub, we were off on our way fishing for the day.
After the days fishing with no keepers, we decided to head back to port. I had already planned to go and look for this cache, as it has been way to long for me not to find it.
The trip back from the Tambo River to the cache was rough as wind had picked up and we were only in a small tinnie. I was soaking wet by the time we arrived back at the Paynesville marina.

After about 5 mins of searching, I finally located the cache. As I was retrieving the cache the mossies arrived. I quickly replace it back in its hide and we made our way back to the tinnie. I'm still waiting for the bites too surface.

'Scrat' visited your cache whilst on his Great Aussie Adventure.

Barney123 and co took the tinny out to the point to score this one! Glorious way to spend some leave. Weather a bit overcast but the sun came out as we parked the boat and strolled into the cache. Old cache container replaced with a one litre systema copy. Old bucket severely affected by sunlight. Surprisingly log book still dry . even the ziplock bag was degraded. New log book added as ther was only 4 pages left. Tnlnew cache box!!:-)

Finally a good day. Stopped in to pick up this cache. Perfect morning. Cache needs maintenance. Container has perished. TFTC

Would this cache happen to be near a bunch of private school camps? Because if it is, it is probably where I am going for camp after the holidays. I know the camp is on the gippsland lakes, and I think it is on the banksia peninsula as well. But I am not sure. Could someone please clarify this for me???

Thanks

A beautifull winters day, Paddled over in the kayak from Paynesville nobody out on the lake apart from the water police towing yet another poorly maintained boat back to Paynesville.
after finding the cashe sat on the point had a coffee break and wached a small pod of dolphins passing buy heading up the lakes towards wattle point.

We tried this about a year or so ago, and tried to travel along the gazetted roads, but were thwarted by a VERY rude character, who threatened us with everything. With tails between legs we retreated, although in retrospect we wondered about his comments and rights.
This time we did the longer trip through the no road sign and the long walk. Not an animal, nor a bird was sighted all trip.
Mozzies in fur coats found us, and a number of dead mozzie bodies mark our trail.
Found the cache without too much difficulty.
Placed a red and black racing car.... no not a real one... and took nothing

Had a very enjoyable and adventurous early morning walk along the beach on the way to the cache with geo-newbie on her first cache hunt. Definitely walked off dessert from dinner at Camp Coolamatong last night! What a beautiful part of the world.
Enjoyed the level 3 rating of this terrain - a couple of places, the bush meets the water's edge so it's either go for a paddle or a bit of bush bashing...good fun.
Great hide, thanks Nutcache.

very windy old day.
took CD and key ring, left bouncy ball and Homer Simpson bandaid.

Paddled here in my kayak after visiting "A Whale of a Time" on a beautiful autumn day. I benefited from a tail wind on this leg of my journey (but would unfortunately have to contend with an easterly on my way back to Paynesville Sad) and made good time. Once on the beach I strolled past an echidna snuffling down into the sandy soil looking for sustenance. Found the cache after about 5 minutes of searching. TNLN.

Many thanks to nutcache for bringing me to this great spot on such a lovely day.

1600h. Hillbridge and I nearly fell into the trap of a 3km walk until we read the clues and took the punt and drove down the 'private property' road until the GPSr told us we were 1.7km from the cache. Good idea. Its a pleasant 1.7km in along some good tracks for biking. However, we did it the old fashioned way, on foot. Left TB Dog Tag, hope it travels well, it is definately in a nice location.

1605hrs, 14th for the day and by far the best, took a little while to find the correct parking spot, but once found a nice walk. Glad the mozzies where on holiday's today.

We approached this cache in a boat, so we did not need to hike too far. It is most desirable to use mosquito repellent in this area, this was my second attempt at this cache as we were driven away by the mossies first time. A great spot to visit.TNLN.

06-Jul-08
Joe Possum and partner were put off by the private road signs so walked 3 km in and 3 km out. The exercise did us no harm especially as it was a great winters day for a walk. Enjoyed the bird life and saw a number of kangaroos. Took the Bright Victoria Badge and left a calf. On hitting the beach after leaving the cache partner realised her watch was missing. 40 minutes later after retracing steps several times over the watch was found. This was more searching than the total search time for the 13 caches found on the weekend. Thanks to Nutcache for the cache and introduction to the school camps.

03-Jan-08
We felt a bit naughty passing through the first 'no entry' point, but a few friendly waves from the locals driving the other way on this road soon made us feel a little more at ease. It's all about 'looking like' you're supposed to be here! We followed the navigational instructions in the cache notes and had no worries about finding the correct way to GZ. We're glad that today was one of the cooler days of the season – making for quite a pleasant walk! We found the cache easily, and we stayed a while to enjoy the area that we'd made the effort to reach. TB molly & co on tour and TB Michael and James' Racer visited this cache. TNLN & SL at 1:45pm. Thanks Nutcache for the walk and the cache – good fun.

14-Oct-07
We're willing to call this one a tie with she, he and the dog - given that it was an arms reach that won the day more than anything!

Took squishy star, left a bracelet... The little chappie much appreciated her new 'pillow' on the boat trip home. TFTC

14-Oct-07
Approached this cache by boat with the Happy Chappies.

We were all a little amused to discover one of the local camps had placed a nature loo pitstop at the same coordinates. While the Happy Chappies looked on, we were game enough to lift the lid on the accompanying bin, (not the nature loo!)just in case we had discovered the biggest cache container ever.

Alas, all it contained was a stash of toilet paper Smile

Happy Chappies then scooped us on the find.

We took a CFA lanyard and left some skin care sachets.

We decided to find this cache today and set about finding the best, easiest and legal way to the cache location. We found the signs intimidating to say the least as they seemed to insist on staying out of the area. We were just about to leave when a local walked past and explained a few of our concerns.
Proceeding on we arrived at the “no road sign†and decided to ring PPrass for a little help. With this information it was a long but easy walk to the cache and thankfully the cache was found in the first place I looked.
The downside of this area is political with every known private school owning some of the best land in the district with huge lodgings, yet holding their hand out for more government funding, My old school St.Leonards has a wonderful camp here which I camped here 5 times, pity the public school system will never have something like this.
On the good side many thanks to Nutcache for this cache well worth the walk. It is not often enough that we bite the bullet and attempt one of you caches, I think we need to do more soon.
Regards Mr.Coffee and the “What is the law on these roads and easements with public access?†Clan.

So many camps, so few muggles! It was at 11pm, so we weren't expecting to see to many people. Nice walk by the light of a full moon. We only disturbed a few swans in the whole walk.
Thanks, Robmc.

We baulked a bit at some of the signs that seemed to not want us there but after following instructions we really enjoyed the moonlight walk.(about 11.00 pm) Very pleasant indeed.
Thanks.

I think that I know where the road goes but decided to be discreet and took the track as per the description. It was a lovely walk and gz was obvous and easily found. Frowned though when I heard a car not far from GZ. Still, it was a lovely walk... Thanks nutcache.

Found at 10.00am GAFF1. We really looked hard for a track that would take us to within 150m of the cache (there is one you know), but after a conversation with Nutcache we followed the instructions, performed the required 1.7km brisk walk - and 1.7 back again and observed the camps along the way. Thanks Nutcache for showing us this spot. tn/ln.

I had a great deal of trouble getting to this cache as it was extremely hard to navigate a way though the mine field of private property sings. I ended up having to carry my bike along the waters edge for a couple of km's in an effort to stay of private land, which wasn't fun. Once i got there it was a excellent spot with lots of wildlife and a great view. I found the track on the way back which lead me to the gate marked 'no road' then i follwed a road out of there,i wish i had found this track before. This would have been a good cache to have found by boat. I took nothing and left my calling card. thanks Nutcache for a good adventure.

21-May-06
We decided to find this cache to rescue the travelbug, which had been there quite a lengthy period of time. We felt a little 'ripped off' when we found this cache. The directions were difficult to follow, and to a certain degree mis-represented the path. The area isn't toddler friendly, nor is it particularly stroller friendly. I would not recommend taking a dog, particularly if your dog likes to chase or bark at wildlife. We would recommend approach via water, instead of walking, out of respect for the people who live in the area, who would hate it if they realised that more people were driving down their road because there was a geocache listed on the www. We took the travel bug and a killer whale water pistol. We left a toy car.

15-Apr-06
Found at 14:00. It had been wet, windy and cold all morning and I was sure that I was going to get wet, but as I left the vehicle the sky turned to blue and the sun shone just long enough for me to complete the cache.
We were staying close to this one at Coolamatong lake camp so I had no trouble finding the gate and walking the 1.7km walk, if I wanted I probably could have driven to within 500m but with all the talk of private land I played it safe. This was an enjoyable walk through the coastal banksias, the birds were putting on quite a song and close to GZ there were hundreds of sea birds. The cache was a nice quick find. I dropped of the spider TB. Thanks Nutcache for showing us this place.

I'm sure I did this one the hard way. I ended up parking about 3.0km from the cache as the numerous private property signs confused me. I headed off coastal, then onto the dirt road then coastal then tracks as well as coastal til I reached the GZ. Im sure I did an extra km and a half. Found the cache without too many hassels. The mozzies were not too bad. I should know they love my blood but I got out bite free. Took the dirt road/track straight back to car in less time. Helped myself to the photo frame for my efforts and left a 41Wing air force patch. TFTC

Found the cache today after a nice walk along the foreshore.

The view of the lake is very nice and a few swans were out on the water.

We found the cache with no problems and there was no mossies about but by the time we had filled in the log and swapped the goddies there they were IN FORCE!!!!( we thought we would get away without the areogaurd because it was cool and windy today,,,YEH RIGHT!!!!)

Took the face washer and left $2 coin(as we had forgoten the swap goddies and of course the areoguard)

Thx nutcache for the find

Similar confusion as others regarding access from land via the "private" roads. Had guidance from someone who had been been involved with Hailebury camp and got within 0.5 km. Used an easement to get to walking track and got to GZ. However mosquitos were vicious and were unable to quickly find the cache. Strategic withdrawal! Will have a go another day with appropriate protection.

03-Oct-05
Found this peaceful lttle spot after walking the last two km or so.

We managed to get close by turning in through the main gate and then avoiding all no road and private property signs.

The walk along the beachfront track was really relaxing, and the echidna didn't ever curl into a ball when we met him. I guess he's not used to human predators!!

TN, left a dinosaur facewasher & signed log.

Thanks Nutcache.

After giving up trying to find the carpark, we scooted around to the closest park (3km) along the coast, and walked in from there. Absolutely stunning part of the lakes, definately worth the walk, even without the lure of a cache. Only found the derelict "no road" sign on the way back out, feeling a little nosey we were having a look at all the many quiet wee camps and properties hidden along the shoreline.
Cache in good condition.
Took bag, left comb.

We were spending a couple of days sailing around the lakes and were fortunate to be able to access this cache from the water. Millions of mozzies at the cache made life very unpleasant so ve didn't hang around. Thanks to Angus and Sally for providing the transport. TNLN. Greg and Bev

13-Aug-04
I was recently emailed by a cacher enquiring as to whether this cache was able to be accessed from the water, and whether it was on private property. The cache is located on waterfront reserve and is accessable from the water or by a walking track that runs behind some school camps that are on land that was set up as a trust. The track is between the back fence lines of the school camps and the lake, and is used by many visitors to the area as well as those staying at the camps. I don't believe you are on private land if you keep to the track, or follow the shore line around to the cache.

01-Jan-04
Found 11:40, our first for the New Year Big Grin thanks Nutcache. A pleasant walk along the beach had us at GZ within no time and the locals didn't seem to have any objections to our presence in this part of the world. Although the mozzies were determined to have their pound of flesh, almost literally [:(!]
Took match box car and left orca water pistol.

26-Nov-03
I was a bit wary about where to go to get to the start of the track. Once found, it was a very pleasant walk out to GZ. Some swans were seen fishing along the way. At GZ the cache was quickly located and my swap made. I took an Ambulance and replaced it with a Sports Car. It certainly a wonderful area. However …..

On the return trip, I met a nice young lady with a pram, walking her young child along the track. She was a bit surprised to see me, then explained that the whole of the area was private land in trust, that was leased to Christian Schools for their various camps. Unfortunately, this cache may need to be archived.

Found by Mary & David at 1010. It was indeed blue and heavenly. Had a little trouble finding the start but then enjoyed the walk through avenues of banksias. We spotted swans, ducks, pelicans, egrets, shags, rosellas and a kangaroo along the way. A marvellous place. Took duck soaps, left yellow cushion door hanger. Imagine hiring a camp here for a geo-event! Our thanks to Nutcache.

Found without trouble, once I was on the right track. Plenty of birds and other wildlife to see in this great location. This truly is a slice of heaven. Took candle and left matchbox type car. Many thanks Nutcache.
