Looked atound for a while but had no luck.....enjoyed looking at the old building though
After two blissful nights at Worlds End, we move our geovan on towards Burra - or wherever we end up tonight. In this case it was Terowie. We had been here - and had returned. Last time through in 2012, we were not cachers, now, just loving it.
This cache caught our eye. We camped close by, and between setting up the van, bbq and the leg of lamb, found this cache. It was full of water, so took it back to the van, changed containers (the previous container was broken) dried as much as I could, and returned to the hide. There is a lot of history in this cache, just like the town.
Thanks alex. will be sending you a message

Great place to explore- follow the tracks out towards the cemetery and look for the secret underground room.
Making a sentimental journey to Terowie and this cache was perfect! My dad, grandfather and great grandfather all worked for the railways. TFTC
Found this on our first time visit to this area. Beautiful photo opportunities everywhere in this town. It was interesting to see where history was made. Found the cache SL TFTC
Love when caches make you stop somewhere interesting that you wouldn't usually stop at. Cache was found safe and dry with a cracked lid. TFTC, alex.
We have returned from Canada to discover a few more Australian caches! What a great way to explore the Land Down Under" ...
Amazing history in this town. Love it all!
Thanks for the fun alex!

I was on my way to the Flinders Ranges with my Dad and we travelled by here.
He had a look at the buildings and the information signs while I went and found the cache.
Interesting history here, I felt like I had stepped back in time.

Out for the weekend to attend the Jamestown Airshow, this is one of the little gem locations we visited along the way.
We have dealt a few favourites out along the way. Hopefully this is one of those Gems. As you can see this is a generic log and I'm sorry for that but the WiFi service here is not great so I need to be quick.
Thanks for the journey to this cache in our wonderful State.

Thanks for the journey to this cache in our wonderful State.
Dad and myself we off to the Jamestown air show tomorrow so we decided to head up a day earlier and explore the surrounding areas and show him a few spots I had already visited. 400km plus which is a long why when the average speed is only 49km/h and very tired eyes we had a wonderful adventure seeing some great sights, kangaroos that decided to follow next to us for ages, Why follow us when you can bounce in the opposite direction.. But lucky we didn't see one snake
Sorry for generic log, it was hard to remember all the caches, I will write custom messages on the ones that require them
Thanks for the cache Alex

Easy find and nice stopover on the way to Adelaide. Freezing cold though ! TFTC
This is what caching should be. Terowie is an AMAZING town, steeped in history, and now slowly being forgotten and becoming a ghost town remembered only by passing cachers. TFTC!
[green]Find #6771[/green]...
Found this whilst travelling from Adelaide to Broken Hill en route to Warwick, Qld...
Please forgive to generic log but it does not detract from your hides...
A bit of a stroll, a short search, found cache, stamped and returned...
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment alex...

Nice to see new roofing on the station.
A great little piece of history.

thanks for the cache alex.
Found at the end of the tourist drive21 which we'd recommend. TFTC a beautiful spot which had undergone a lot of work recently.
Easy find for 8 year old. Love the history of Terowie - the town frozen in time!
Went out bush just to find a place the sun was shining. The country is looking good.
Grabbed this cache on the way home.

Really cool place here and well worth a look at. They are restoring some of the local train station buildings when we showed up here. We camped the night here in the rail yard and the public toilets a little walk up the road were very clean and presentable, well done to who ever does this. Please buy something from the little shop in Main St even if it is only a magnet or sticker, so sad to see a little town that has so much heritage and history slowly dying. Do your bit and stop by. TFTC TNLNSL.
PS Didn't see the lizard.
PS Didn't see the lizard.
My last stop while in the thriving metropolis of Terowie. There was a muggle camped nearby but he didn't cause any problems with my fining of the cache. It's nice to see an old school cache still surviving in the wild.
thanks for the cache alex.
thanks for the cache alex.
Thanks Alex, we were under a little bit of curious scrutiny from nearby caravaning muggles having a very late afternoon tea and a good look! It was difficult but fun to camouflage our actions! Thanks alex
Stopped off to grab a couple of caches after completing the Dares Hill Tourist drive. As we walked towards GZ we noticed a few muggles over the other side of the tracks. They seemed to be preoccupied with what they were doing and hopefully were not too concerned with us. It is hard to imagine how busy this station was in its heyday. [?]
Thanks for the cache alex.

Found on our Road trip from Adelaide to Stanthorpe for the OZ Mega 2015. Nice Old Railway Station. Great place for Free Camping, will keep it in mind for next time we are passing through. Met some fellow travellers also heading to QLD but they are attending a VW gathering. TFTC
Having seen the historical film at Peterborough's Steamtown last night, the title made sense to me. Great spot for a cache. Container lid is cracked but contents are fine. Cache #2110.
Such a great old town, it's a shame that it is not as big as it was. A great bit of history and a quick find. TFTC.
As a NT Cacher who is right into WW2 history this was a great cache!A quick find with LionJRB on our trip back to Katherine. TFTC
During our holiday-trip in AUSTRALIA we are searching for some caches on our Route between Muswellbrook/Cobar/Broken Hill/Angaston and Adelaide and so vreaksaw67 and i decided us for this one
we could sign the logbook after just a few seconds
TFTC and many greetings from AUSTRIA

Found on a run up north to Broken Hill. We just went for the easier drive bys and ones that broke the trip up. At one stage we were following the Indian Pacific as the rail runs parallel to the road most of the way. Some open country and some old towns fading away. Nice to get a 2002 cache along the way. we completed the signing duties and re hid TFTC

What a sad story this us for the town. Such a thriving town in its day, why did we stop the railways. Tftc
A wonderful spot which we would nit have visited without a cache to find. You are so right about the town looking sad... So thanks for the history of Terowie.
What a fantastic place and story but it is sad to see the town gradually decaying away thanks
Wow! General macarthur stood here too! A quick find which I replaced quickly as 2muggles were approaching along the platform. Then came those familiar words,' did you find it'? Nice to meet some fellow cachers and we stopped for a chat before heading off to the next cache. Thanks.
Although we knew the reputed origin of the phrase used in the cache name, we were not aware of the location where the statement of defiance was made. Most interesting place to visit. Accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks for the cache alex. Just as we were about to leave we met a couple from Bunbury (WA) - they cache a little but hope to bevome more active as they travel.
A group of three vehicles with 1 geocacher and 6 muggles aboard set out to traverse the Simpson Desert from West to East. This adventure was accomplished over a two week period which commenced in Renmark, where we met on Saturday 28th June, and finished in Mildura two weeks later were we went our separate ways. The route took us up to Marree then along the Oodnadatta Track, an overnight stop was enjoyed at Hamilton Station campground before we turned toward Dalhousie Springs via Perdirka Ruins. Arriving at Dalhousie saw us setting up camp before a dip in the springs was enjoyed. Three days later saw us 'playing' on Big Red and finishing in Birdsville for a couple of days. Then it was down the Birdsville Track back to Marree and on to Mildura as mentioned. As the only geocacher in the group I took the opportunity when it presented itself to grab a few caches along the way. I found the caches to be interesting and enjoyable. Many thanks alex for placing the cache, allowing me to break up this 4500 km trek.
We decided to stay at the old railway station (in our van) and went for a walk in cold and windy conditions to find the caches in this little town. So much history here and it so sad to see it so empty and declining. The pub is closed and the only shop is the Post Office/General Store which has a little stock. No TB found though. TFTC Alex
This is what geocaching is all about to us. We loved visiting this spot and learning the history of a town which has declined drastically over a relatively short period.
The story of the little dog isn't unlike our Red Dog tail and it would be wonderful to find out if any of the locals know more about the little fellow. Loved all of the information boards and the whole feel of the place. There was an invite to stay over with our caravan or motorhome on the gate too, it was too early in the day for us so we visited and then enjoyed morning tea.
thanks for this fantastic cache alex.

Some spectacular history in these old towns. Great to see it preserved for all. TFTC alex.
As a kid, we used to stop here to change trains on the way to Adelaide in the middle of the night. Dad would disappear into the night and return with a square pie for each of the kids ( you could only get round pies at home). I never knew about the other history of this place. Thanks for the lesson.
Found on the way home after attending the Oz Mega Event in Murray Bridge. South Australia. Decided o head home through Broken Hill for some sightseeing and caching. Great cache. TFTC
On arriving at GZ we met up with some fellow caravanners who were camping at the site. They were intrigued about geocaching and we explained a little bit about it to them before finding the cache and continuing on our way. This was a great area to visit and an interesting history, thanks.
Found on way to Broken Hill. Interesting town with lot of history and vacant buildings. Left golf tee and took toy soldier. TFTC
Found with hubby and we were both deeply impressed with the history of this spot.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Found on our way home from the hill.great bit of history, nice town to explore around...TFTC
Found on our Willangi Bush Escape weekend. Great scenery. good 4wd tracks & the 'best of' company.

I expect to return on the way to the next 4WD event in Peterborough in 2 years time. This time I was on the way home from 4WD "Octoberfest" near Peterborough. Thanks alex.
We have been wanting to come back here for a look around for several years, and now have finally returned (as per McArthur).
Great place to check out. Left Anzac Hat pin.

Found by Team Ladava on our run south with our Geocaching sister and brother-in-law, baby&Mrs gopher who we met up with in the Flinders Ranges after their two month trek around the Top End.
This was only the start of a very enjoyable diversion to Terowie.
Wonderful bit of history ducked away in this outpost.
Definitely a favourite from Team Ladava.
Locations like this are 'the icing on the cake' of Geocaching with the locals hosting us anonymously to their favourite spots.

Our thanks to alex for the cache and bringing us to this location.

Camped here overnight and it's freezing this morning. Quite sad reading the history and much is gone. Tftc
Interesting place to visit. Stopped here for night on our way home to Melbourne after being on the road travelling around Australia
TFTC,
Day 15 of our 7 week outback adventure. What a surprise to find this remarkable piece of history.
I can add a bit to this.
One year we went to the ANZAC Day service in Canberra and the morning before we shared our breakfast table at our hotel with an old fellow. We started a conversation with him and he told us a story which didn't seem correct until we did some research later and found out it was correct.
He was a civilian working with as it was then the PMG department and he was instructed to roll up the telephone cable between the mainland and Tasmania and lay it between the mainland and Papaua New Guine because Macather wouldn't go north without a landline contact.
He was not recognised for his service by Australia and after 50 years all those who served in a war zone became eligible for a Gold Card. He applied and was refused until he presented a personal letter of thanks he had from Macarther and the Medal he had received from America in recognition for his service. He also received medals for his service from Australia at this time.
A forgotten Hero who made it all possible for the Great Macarther to Return.
Visited a group of trackables looking to experience the Outback and visit the 2 million Cache.

nice easy find, took a tremendous gutser after slipping on the railway line walking back to the car, head first into the gravel and wound up on my back in a prickle bush ... ouch!

ha ha ha... Ben had a GREAT old laugh here when he sent Bon into the giant tree to look while he snuck off down to the rail line and yelled out triumphantly when he found it! Just another great day caching! tftc Very quiet here today, just like it is every day I guess!
