TFTC smile20348 Out and about on a Sunny day grabing a cache to try and keep a challenge going signed as GS1947 on small logs have a FP Thank you geopam for placing this cache for our enjoyment
Thanks for placingFound with my buddies from Brisvagas, on an adventure to the Tableland and surrounds. Peering through the windows to gather the information required. As we sat eating our pre packed lunches and drinks we wondered as to why this pub was closed. Such a shame...
Travelling around the local districts with geo friends for a few days and enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way whilst visiting some places for the very first time. This was a lovely spot to stop and enjoy our lunch, and although the hotel was closed, we still had use of the seating on the verandah.Answers emailed to CO as requested.Thank you, geopam, for placing this good Virtual
Today was a very early start with a drive to the airport for a 6 am flight to Cairns and day one of our North Queensland geocaching trip.Snickersallan and I were met at the airport by Grannysmith and Bluewattle. The bags were thrown into the car and we were off for a day of adventure. First off it was up to Kuranda, then across to Mareeba, down to Atherton and Millaa Millaa. It was then over to Innisfail before working our way back to Cairns, to arrive just in time for the night time event. It was nice to see a couple of locals turn up to the event, thank you. This was an awesome cache for me. An old virtual! yeah! we pulled up and wandered over to have a feed at the pub, hmmm problem the place has been closed up for a while now for renovations. I was still able to see what I needed for the task as I had already worked out the first part. We had planned to have lunch here, so luckily for us we had our drinks and salad rolls with us. As we sat on the pub seats on the balcony we wondered why this place was closed. Thanks for the virtual and a favourite point for this cache. Thanks for the hide and the placement.
Well I was playing hookie from home but not quite the same distance. Flew in Cairns for the night and drove over to Atherton this morning for a parkrun and do a spot of caching while here. This cache was the top of my list and after my shuffle I made the short drive. Worked out the little puzzle and then proceeded to peer through the windows for the answer. With the must do mischief managed it was time to return to Atherton for breakfast. Answers sent.
567 finds 2:07pm 5/1/2024Virtual do come vary rarely and I was happy to see this. After gathering the information from GZ I moved to the nearby location where I could gain the information needed to claim the find after talking to a very nice guy who knew what I needed. Also working on a challenge and this is another size and an another find of this type I can tick off. Now I am continuing onto mungali and logging before the data cuts out. Thank you geopam for your Virtual Playing Hookie 8,000 Miles From Home and providing back to the community and getting me out of the house and caching.TFTC geopam
A day on the southern Atherton Tableland - collecting a few more caches (lots of nanos today) and collecting AdLab waypoints. No luck with multis though. Quite a few kilometres covered and some interesting spots visited.A quick puzzle solve. A nice quick response from across the world. A nice cache all up. Pub seems to be replaced - I wonder if there was a fire?TFTC GeoPam

Staying in the van close by as it's still raining we have come out for a drive.liked the pup, and they have done a great job of fixing it up ..
Apologies for the late log here (06.01.24) but I've had a busy time since getting back to the UK.This was a curious stop on another busy day as I drove up into the tablelands. Very quiet today and there was only so much I could do as the hotel was closed (time of year, I'd say, looking at it) so I did what I could do - photos attached. A fun and interesting cache though so thanks for the challenge here and sorry I wasn't able to complete it 'due to circumstances beyond my control'. TNLN-Virtual. Departed Melbourne the other day and travelling north for the winter, well, for the northern warmth actually (hopefully ), passing through as many small towns as I can grabbing the odd cache here and there as I travel. Leaving Undara Experience Park this morning for the last part of the first stage of the trip to Cairns, a few days before the misses flys in Then the next stage of the trip begins, Cape York! But first, a few days in Cairns looking around and geocaching
Yep, I'm playing hookie as well, the misses is still at home working...
Well, I'm taking the van to Cairns and she's flying up to save on her long service leave. Then we'll spend 8 weeks slowly travelling home
What a beautiful view!

The cache name for this virtual is also very relevant for us, being well removed from our current stomping ground in the ACT. Nonetheless, it was a good way to explore some of the area and learn about some local history, sights and of course check out the nearby watering hole.
No issues with the fun little field puzzle, and a prompt response from the CO was greatly appreciated. TFTV!

In the spirit of reconciliation we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country on which we geocache throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. In the area with Selva Girls picking up some caches as we head north. SG had done this one so I gathered the info and headed off to the closed pub. We'd passed the pubs car on the way in but all was good as I gathered the info needed.

One of my personal targets is to find as many of the oldest 100 active caches in Queensland. This one will bring my finds to 89 of them. It is one of 2 to find which are not in the SE corner of the state and so it stands out on my map of the state,
When i found out that i would be in the area today it was a must that I visited it. After dropping my Daughter at the Jubilee Christian college for meetings I headed straight to the area.
The premises were still closed but I used my phone to scan the area and locate the required information. Messsage has been sent to CO.
Thanks geopam for keeping this oldie alive.

Another honeymoon cache! We made a detour up into the Tablelands especially for this cache. Back in 2015 I spent a numbers of months commuting through here for work, but never had the time to make it to this cache. I am very happy to have it ticked off now!
Cheers

Accompanied Mr LLJ to look at this piece of history. Certainly a lovely part of the world. TFTC
Thanks for the OK ‘geopam’. Certainly a pretty location for a cache. As well as this old virtual, we saw a pair of Peregrine Falcons with three eggs in their nest and a platypus swimming casually in a creek. Top day
Email sent! So very excited to discover this oldie was still in play so we had to detour a little to stop and find it. Thankyou for brining us here. Enjoyed the uniquness of the ceramic memorial.
Aquilus1 & I are on a mission to visit every LGA in Australia and on this short & sweet 5 day mission we went from Cairns to the Northern Territory and back again. 3400km's, 1 flat tyre, 600-700 kangaroo's seen, 1 hit, and all the other fauna & flora.
What a nuts adventure!
Day 1: Arrive in Cairns at before noon, grab the car and immediately off to Guyala for the first LGA of the day. During the day we saw massive trees, and old virtual and some earthcaches.....and at least 200km of dirt road without seeing anything at all except for one car. Limped into Hughenden from The Lynd about 9:15pm. Had to spend 15 minutes killing mozzies in the room before I was willing to go to bed.
Day 2: Leave Hughenden after admiring the windmill & the dinosaur for a day of largely earthcaches.....and long dirt roads that were marked '4WD only'. Our mightly little pretend SUV ate them for breakfast. Had a mad scramble for accommodation at the end of the day in Cloncurry.....eventually getting a cabin at the 'Road Runner'..... which clearly has a poor reputation based on the looks we got when mentioning it. Local event was great and met TeamPops for the first time.
Day 3: Left The Curry on the way to The Isa.....detoured south a bit before returning and doing some cool gadget caches by drrnrchr...some real talent there! Then off to the NT of course, as you do! From there it was a slog to Burketown...."up the dirt" which was a very poor road. Got the flat right near the end of the worst stretch so then limped in at 50-60km/h for the next 3 hours. I have never seen so many roo's in all my life and I live in Canberra which has a serious roo problem.....it was crazy. We arrived just near closing of the pub & takeaway and the town was in party mode....then 15 minutes later was completely silent.
Day 4: At sparrows got the car to the awesome guys at Nowland to fix the puncture. This was the day for visiting the aboriginal LGA's, we checked in for our 30 minute Mornington Island flights at the Shire Council, first time I have ever done that! Doomadgee was visited as well, the road there being excellent with an exciting river crossing for fun......and we discovered it was actually Mabo Day so we were very lucky to visit on that day, the towns were fascinating, the Rosie's chicken at the Doomadgee roadhouse delicious. Heading east along the Savannah way, we saw a croc & a canberra cacher....of all the things!
Day 5: Another long day from Croydon to Mareeba, with my first Queensland FTF as well on an amazing earthcache at Einasleigh....more swful roads but thankfully these were the very last! As always an interesting hunt for accommodation, but it all worked out.
Day 6: This was a relaxed day just cleaning up the few surrounding Cairns LGA's and cruising into the airport...where they tried to charge me $500 for having a puncture that was now repaired...jeez guys, c'mon! Sorted out quickly but I was set to 'ramming speed' for a few moments.
What a nuts adventure!

Answers sent by GreyHams, nice virtual here and great views.
With GreyHams we set out on an epic 5 day caching trip from Cairns, to the Northern Territory and back again. 3400km via Burketown with the occasional detour off into different directions as was needed! Looong straight roads, many on dirt or rock and rough but luckily only the 1 flat tyre. Camels, a crocodile, wildlife in abundance of numbers and types and a crazy number of kangaroos after dark it was a little scary! Such a great trip through all the LGA's and we saw so much!
Day 1: We arrived in Cairns after midday to pick up the car with several hours of driving ahead of us to get to Hughenden. With road reports having just changed to open after recent rains it was a little unknown what was ahead of us. 'Drive to conditions and 4WD'... down the Lind in the dark and not a car to be seen for hours... we found out why! Some old caches, virtuals and earth caches to stop at, it was a good start into a few areas otherwise easy to drive by and miss their little discoveries.
Day 2: With reports of snow falling back home in Canberra we woke to a pleasant sunny day of blue sky and warmth. Hughendens windmills and dinosaur visited and then off into the unknown of more dirt roads of 'drive to conditions and 4WD' and a fascinating day of Earthcaches through the region. Cloncurry was our stop overnight and despite its many accommodation options it was a long search before the 'have you tried the road runner?' It proved better than expectations and as usual things just worked out. The Leichharde for dinner was a good snitty hotel, an event at the central was great to meet some local cachers and proved to be the steak place as we saw!
Day 3: The most epic of all days of the trip in the distance and events. Leaving The Curry it was up to The Isa, some local caching, local cachers and then south for a bit before returning through The Isa and off to the Northern Territory. Camooweal to Burke 'up the dirt' rough, rocky, lots of creek crossing, AKA 'dips' and a bit of water in places. A flat trye slowed things dramatically, after the crazy number of little kangaroos and 3 hours to travel 160km we limped into a thriving Burketown relieved to have made it with only 1 roo casualty. The hotel was a busy and friendly place, dinner at the closing TA and then the hotel closed and silence...
Day 4: Started off at the great guys at Nowlands who had the tyre repaired quickly. Checked in for our flight to Mornington and then off to the Burketown bore and wetlands while we wait, cool spot! Doomadgee missed the day before, we squeezed it in today which was worth the drive, the roos of the night made way for so many wedgies on the road and stopped overnight in Croydon at a great Queenslander hotel with the best meals and the best sauces to go with them. Yummy, caching fuel!
Day 5: Croydon to Mareeba, with a FTF opportunity at Einasleigh Gorge, great geology and a lovely discovery, lunch at the hotel and then off down some more dirt roads, creeks, water and corrugations, the road crews keep busy out these ways and we were pleased to meet some along the way! A little scramble for accommodation but Mareeba pushed us a little further and was well placed.
Day 6: A casual morning collecting a few local LGA's around the Cairns area before returning the tough and mighty little hire car and the flights down south to winter... aargh! Sunny Queensland, you will be missed!
Such a great trip, long days, long roads, landscapes and wildlife of such variety and abundance. Great caches, people and memories. Thanks for your cache that guided us through this area!

Sunday afternoon, and we are certainly not 8000 miles from home, but we are far enough away to be having a wonderful holiday.
We have looked at this one on the map many times and hoped that one day we would be here.
After a morning exploring the area, we stopped here for a beer with incredible views as we looked across the grass towards the mountains in the distance. It was quite busy today, as it is obviously a popular watering place for the locals.
We have sent answers to the CO.
Thanks geopam.

Having a look around the tablelands with Team Crackers, Micaparamedic and Geoturtle37. We are now seeing the benefit of the enduring rains that we have experienced.
Geoturtle37 was hoping that we would get to do this cache as it is so old. The fact that it is at a pub, where we could take a break in our trip, was a bonus. Unfortunately for us, the pub was actually closed but we were able to get the information we did through the window. Such a shame as we were looking forward to having a drink at this old pub. Thanks for the cache and bringing us here.

Headed up to the tablelands with Team Crackers, Micaparamedic and Papi4506. This cache was on my radar as I do like to find the old caches if possible. After gathering what was needed we headed to GZ only to find it closed. Luckily, we were able to see what we needed and the answer was sighted. Thank you for bringing us to this location with the cache.
After many days of rain the sun was shining this morning so we decided to head out to the Atherton area with micaparamedic, geoturtle37 and Papi4506 to pick up a few caches and visit some of the waterfalls that will be running well after all the rain of the last few days.
Our main objective for today was the adventure lab cache in Maladas but we were certainly not going to leave any others behind on our way there and back.
We really enjoyed this series coming up the hill and had some great views and art works to admire as we drove along.
We even watched a storm come in across the valley which happily missed us completely.
We were all looking forward to doing this virtual and also having a drink in the pub. Unfortunately that wasn't to be today as the pub was shut but we were able to collect the information required off the plaque and we were very happy that we could find the right number plate looking through the window while looking longingly at the bar.
The answer has been sent off to the CO.
Many thanks geopam for this great virtual

Our last day in the Atherton Tablelands and whilst it was still raining, it was our last chance to check it all out, so with raincoats and umbrellas in hand we headed out!
This cache was a must-do during our time here being on the Q100 list. After visiting the massive curtain fig tree nearby we came here and found the required information. It’s a cool old pub, was a bit early for a beer so took some photos instead. Thanks for bringing us here. Tftc

How wonderful to get this old virtual. It has been on my list to collect for years and finally I am here. Lovely pub and they have done lots of modifications. Lady behind the bar knew what we were after and said it had been a while since someone asked about.
It’s very misty and cloudy so did not get to see the fabulous views but what we did see was so pretty.
Kittykatch sent answers for both of us.

This was list of must finds as it's an old original virtual so very important for us to find, with something a little different to do at GZ, we enjoyed this no end.

This was my first Mega trip in a while now, I had planned to go to the last one in Wangaratta but concerns about COVID made me pull out at the last minute. For this one it was a trip with BudgieTas and GooseandEgg landing in Cairns on the Sunday where we collected a few caches in the dark before driving down to Townsville on the Monday collecting a select few caches along our very indirect route.
While in the Townsville we made the best of our time collecting a few series of caches and searching for some of the older caches on offer, some with lots of favourite points or something we thought maybe a bit different, along with all that we got to go to all the Mega events and meet up with cachers old and new, spending Thursday with Greg going round Magnetic Island and a bit of time with the Davinells who went out of their way to welcome the Tasmanians to Queensland.
All to soon it came to an end and we drove down to Mackay on the Monday again collecting caches along the way before flying home on the Tuesday Morning.
Thanks for the warm (sometimes too hot) welcome Queensland until next time!
Thanks for the cache.

This cache was the main reason for our detour through this way. I really enjoyed the way it was put together. Unfortunately the pub was closed but we were able to spy what we needed from the from deck.
Answers sent via Budgietas and permission received to log this virtual.
Thanks geopam, a favourite point from me for this gem.
A ten day mega trip was arranged with Stainless steel rat and Budgietas. We flew into Cairns and out of Mackay, with the majority of the time in and around Townsville. We found a huge variety of caches and although our find count was a little lower than we would have liked, some of the high D/T caches more than made up for that. I really appreciate the effort of the local COs and all the people involved in hosting the mega and associated activities. I enjoyed catching up with many of our caching buddies, and make some new ones too!
Thanks for a great mega trip!

We diverted a long way to get this cache. And it was worth it.
We quickly found the required information despite the establishment being closed

This cache was found as part of a trip with GoosenEgg and Stainless Steel Rat to Far North Queensland for the Townsville Mega. The trip started in Cairns and ended in Mackay, and allowed us to find some ripper caches inbetween.
We managed to complete some of the Breaking Bad cache series until we driven back to the car due to the heat, and the Saint and most of the book series. There were some good variety in both these series which kept them interesting.
One of the highlights (although a low light when removing the mud) was the walk on the salt flats outside Townsville to get the challenge caches
Another highlight was Magnetic island, where other than some great views, we managed to spot two koala's in the wild.
Thank you for placing and maintaining this cache that was part of our trip

Spotted this oldie and a virtual to boot, and noted as a must find when on our trip to Cairns. The required info was obtained, and we headed over to the pub to secure the required info to send to the cache owner. An email has been sent with details of the license plate.
Good news though, the pub is trading, and was quite busy when we arrived. We got to sneak in a couple of drinks and a Covid safe few games of pool. Very friendly staff so a great visit. Thanks very much for the cache grooms, we would not have found this place otherwise. Cheers

It is impossible to drive past an old virtual cache.
After pulling up at the can and deciphering the code, I headed over to the hotel which was closed even though it was lunch time. I am not sure if the hotel is still operating.
After having a look around and peering in through the windows, I was able to spot what was required.

Today was going to be a bit of a higgledy piggledy day of caching adventures for Fangsoki and I, involving a number of multi caches and other caches we had on our list but just hadn’t had a chance to get to over the past couple of days.
This was one of the other caches, and this visit was just for me, as Fangsoki has done this virtual on a previous visit.
We pulled up and I clambered out and took a photo of the plaque. Then back in the comfort of the car, I set about solving the answer - only I did miss-count two and had to recheck my answer as it made zero sense.
With the right answer on board, I headed over to the pub. Unfortunately it was closed, and there was no sign of anyone about, despite being 11am.
I peered in the window and managed to see what I was after.
Then back to the car I went.
It’s a shame this one wasn’t open today, although I guess 11am is still a bit early for us to have stopped for lunch anyway, but I bet they do a mean pub meal!
Thanks for the cache geopam.

This old virtual was a "must do" for my road trip north. I parked the geomobile and strolled to the Cairn. There, I was quickly able to work out what I was looking for next. Sadly, the pub was not open. Shorter hours due to covid, I guess. I almost walked away without finding what was required, but then turned and peered through the windows. What I needed was clearly visible. Answer has been sent to the CO. Thanks for bringing me here and TFTC

Thursday. I’d had this cache on my infamous 'to do- list for years and when a fellow cacher found out we were heading up to FNQ, he said we must collect this cache. I didn’t disagree. The pub was closed, but luckily we’d read previous logs which advised what they did when the pub was closed - we did the same - answers sent to CO.
This was the 6th of 14 caches found on this outing.
Thanks ***geopam*** for showing us this place

Great pub has been renovated …we were there on a Tuesday it was closed and the town was very deserted ,still a pretty place to come to and the drive was spectacular
Thanks for placing the virtual and bringing us out to this pub and little hamlet. Answer sent to CO. Tftc
Lovely area to explore, and we thought we were in trouble when we walked across the road to the pub and it was closed. Fortunately the windows gave us a great view of the information we needed, so we could send off the answer to the CO.
Headed out from Tolga today to explore more of this lovely area, and to find a few caches on our way. It wasn’t a great start to our caching day as we missed a lot of the multis around Yungaburra, but rectified that with finding some trads. Can’t win on all of the hides, even though we always set out expecting to find them!
Thanks to all the local CO’s for developing and maintaining a diverse variety of hides. We appreciate your efforts.

Found during a trip from Adelaide to the northern tip of Australia. Traveling up through central Queensland on my own, I met up with e.gregory1 for the rest of the trip northwards to Cape York Peninsula, finding caches along the way. Very nice to visit this historic building in our travels. Thanks for the cache geopam!
After taking three weeks to meander my way up from Adelaide towards Cairns on my own, I met up with FeatherWaite. We spent some time looking around the broader area and finding a few caches, including this one.
We gathered all the required information from the plaque, but the establishment across the road was closed. However, while looking around it, I met the very friendly owner who was very happy to tell me a little about the place and the renovations he was undertaking. He also pointed me in the direction of the nimberplate I needed.
Thanks geopam for an interesting Virtual cache.

We left Mission Beach for a day around the Tablelands before heading to the Undara Lava Tubes.
Quick stop here to pick up this old virtual.
No issues spotting the info through the window despite the pub being closed.
Thanks geopam for creating and placing this for us to enjoy.

Been coming to this pub for 10 years so I’m stoked to see a cache here now I’ve joined the cache community! You don’t need to persuade me to sit on the veranda and have a beer while I crunch a code word out. TFTC, a fave point from me.
Not an early start this morning. Ever tried to wake three Netflix binging night owl teenagers? Only a few days to go on our extended FNQ visit and today is a waterfall road trip around the Tableland.
having visited our third waterfall at Millaa Millaa, it was time to head north back towards the Lakes and the Giles Highway back to Cairns.
Along the way, we diverted here so I could grab this rare oldie virtual, which has long been a target. A few kilometres away, my youngest child was violently ill, so the pub turned out to be a good place to get a drink so could freshen his mouth.
Walking in to one of these outback pubs, you always feel a bit out of place - the locals in the corner with their beers, eyeing you off. No different here. Even had to do the digital covid check in thing to buy three takeaway cans of soft drink. But I managed to snaffle a photo of the number plate along the way.
My wife and I got engaged 20 years ago at Mt Quincan nearby, but never stopped at the pub back then . An email has been sent to the CO with the answer. Many thanks geopam

We have explored the Tablelands on a number of occasions but never came through this little town. Deciphering the code was fun and easily done. Inside of the hotel it was instantly clear that it has been recently renovated. We spoke with one of the owners and she confirmed that after a cyclone a few years ago it has been entirely redone and that not all of the number plates are on display anymore. Fortunately, the required one still is.
Thanks for bringing us here.

Found with orth71 on a trip from Townsville to Atherton for a week of caching.
Great old pub undergoing some renovations.
The Cairn was a great history lesson of the area and good food obtained.

We were quite disappointed to find the hotel closed today, even though google (and the sign on their door) said they were open. Mostly because we’d been hanging out to have lunch and had planned to eat there, but nevermind, we were still able to gather the info needed and peer through the window to obtain the answer. Menu looked great though! Thanks for the virtual which brought us here today.
I do love me a good virtual, so when plans to head out in this direction were hatched with Mrs Gunnie while holidaying in Palm Cove, this was first on the list of must haves. [^]
We pulled up and I snapped some pics of the cairn, then took the information into the hotel to sort out over a beer. A good option I thought... Interestingly, the wall/s of plates are no longer so finding the information was incredibly simple. That was actually a little disappointing as I thought the plates would add character to what appears to now be a rather bland place on the inside. The outside has had a makeover and looks smarter, but maybe lost it's old workd charm in the process. That's a shame...
None of this detracts from the cache though which I enjoyed. The Cairn is pretty neat and the location is nice.
Cheers geopam.

It is always a pleasure to get a virtual geocache up north. Thanks for sharing this place with us. We really appreciate it.
Biers - not the place most watchmen want to frequent. Sergeant Angua usually is the one to deal with any ruckus there being a pub she likes to frequent. Biers is perhaps one of the few locations where, when asking the bartender for a Bloody Mary, he won't simply mix you a metaphor... Clientele include vampires, werewolves, zombies, bogeymen, ghouls, Tooth Fairies, and Mrs Gammage. Mrs Gammage is purely human, a blind old widow living alone who had been patronizing this pub for decades since it was still an ordinary human pub named the Crown and Axe. The differently alive clientele of Biers look after Mrs. Gammage so we don’t tend to worry about her. The undead customers are not exactly friendly with each other, more that they leave each other alone. On the other hand, if an ordinary human barges into the bar and makes unmeasured comments, even in solicitation for the famous Ankh-Morpork any-kind-of-service-for-money, there will be trouble from just about every drinking customer. The undead can be serious about their drink.
Worked out the state and headed inside for a beer and a Squizzy at the license plate. Answer has been sent. Thanks for the cache
We too are playing hookie in Queensland but only 2,000km from home.
Today took us on a drive from Cairns, where we are staying, up to the Atherton Tablelands to check out some of the sights. A visit to Peeramon was on my to do list simply because there was a virtual cache to be had but, that aside, we very much enjoyed a stop over there ... the historical cairn/sculpture is really worth seeing, as is the old pub ... unfortunately, though, it was closed while we were there (presumably because of COVID) so we couldn't make an injection into the local economy, but at least I was able to see what I had to see through the window.
Thanks very much for bringing us to Peeramon geopam ... while visiting it was not the highlight of our day, it was one of the surprise hits of the day ... and for that I'm giving this cache a well deserved fave point.

Lots of fun, friendly people and amazing views. While ordering a well deserved beer (and so we didn't look suspicious) we spied our prize and took a quick pic. Took some TB's for a visit. TFTC
Got to the plaque in question and noted the state. Checked into the historic pub and easily located the plate in question. Beautiful part of the world up here. Thanks for bringing me here and nice to see a virtual out in the regional area
We were enjoying a crumbed steak at the Peermon when I notice a ghost looking at me. Nice easy solve, lucky enough all the required info has been moved into the new bar whilst old bar been renovated. Yummy crumb steak with a beautiful view
Our last night on the Tablelands so we decided what better way to say goodbye than have a meal at the historic Peeramon Pub (chilli prawns for me and barramundi for snuggle muggle gf) We did the puzzle while waiting for garlic bread. It was all delicious. Thank you so very much for keeping this virtual cache alive! (my first one).
Up to Cairns for a significant birthday for Jez, but he kindly allowed me to get in a few caches. Of course we had to stop here; two things I love in a cache; a virtual, and an oldie!
Unfortunately the pub was closed when we were here, but we figured out the number plate state anyway, and took a few selfies to email to the CO. Thanks for bringing us up here geopam, TFTV

Along the way we had time to stop and grab a big handful of caches, some of our finds were in the remotest parts of Australia. Thanks to all the cache owners for placing your cache, you've all contributed to us having a great holiday. Apologises for the generic log.

This one is for the statistics. Already quite late for us, since we needed to find a campsite for the night. After deciphering the state, we went inside looking for the plate. The main room is large and little inviting, decorated only around the bar. Some locals having beer, we shared one as well. On saying goodbye, we were offered a large piece of a pumpkin, very nice.

Today was our day free from tours - we decided on a trip out to the Crater Lakes after a friend's recommendation. I saw there were a few caches - including an old virtual nearby so was all for it.... I couldn't believe it intially - a virtual?
If it weren't for this we might have went to Port Douglas for the afternoon.... At Lake Barrine, the GPSr had a mini stroke and lost all the caches it was storing, and of course we had no cellular service here, so we had to drive in the general direction of this cache until some 4G appeared, then stop and do a quick offline save with Cachly. A fun virtual too - I didn't read it properly at the hotel, so wasn't expecting a visit to the pub! We decoded it easily and grabbed the info from the bar. Answers have been sent to the CO..... TFTC geopam....

Day 4 in Cairns Australia from Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA. Caught up with my daughter here i. cairns after her Study Abroad ended. We had nothing scheduled today so my daughter decided to check out the water fall tour. She picked Millaa Millaa, Ellinjaa, and Zillie Falls. They were spectacular, even with the gray sky’s and, rain. We also stopped at Mungalli Creek Dairy for lunch. Off the beaten path but well worth the detour. We also stopped at Lake Barrine. Too bad it wasn’t lunch time as it smelled delicious. The botanical gardens were pretty too. I put together a small last minute hit list of caches. We grabbed several on the list and a couple of bonuses caches too. We found the caches working just fine. I made my mark and replaced as found. Thanks to the CO’s for placing and maintaining these caches for us to find. Photos attached when requested and answers sent when needed.

On old, rare cache type has been on the radar for a long time. So as part of an Chillagoe to Tablelands earthcache crawl Mr CNQ stopped in for a pleasant Sunday lunch and to collect the required information. A couple more caches and heading back to Charters Towers. Logging with permission. Thanks for an interesting stop geopam.

800 miles from home, and I am not exactly playing hookie, but I often am. I just got back from 11 thousand miles away playing hookie regularly, so I understand.
This one today though was a real quick driveby. I had previously assumed the first part, but a quick check to confirm and then inside before closing time for an easy find of what I needed. A quick G'day to the lass behind the bar and I was on my way again.
Thanks geopam for bringing me to this location. Logged with permission.

I came across this Virtual cache 12 months ago when we were last holidaying in the area but couldn't complete it because the Pub was closed... back again this year for another escape from *cold old Melbourne* and taking a drive up onto the Tableland because we had a bit too much sun yesterday, so naturally I thought I would give it another try.
Despite the work still going on in the residential part of the Pub, the Bar was open so I was able to drop in and get the *vital details*.
Thanks **geopam** for keeping this one going for so long...

We diverted off the main roads to this lovely little place among the rolling hills and valleys in this picturesque area. Gleaned the information that we required from the cairn. Over the road to the hotel, which was still closed. Found a lovely man who was painting the inside of the building and asked him where the plates were. He took us inside and pointed up to the top of the bar, and there it was. Apparently the hotel was quite severely damaged by a cyclone last year, which is why it is under restoration. The plates have all been put into storage, except this one. Why? 'Because people keep asking for it'. Good enough reason, which made our search easy today. We enjoyed this one geopam, so thanks.
We loved this cache and have given it a favorite point.
We worked the solution to the location of the numbers on a visit twelve months ago, unluckily for us the hotel was closed on the morning we visited. We again found ourselves in the area and just had to visit and try again. This time the hotel was closed but luckily there was someone outside and after a chat and explaining we had come all the way from Western Australia we was let inside. Still the numbers didn’t instantly reveal themselves as they had fallen down behind a cabinet, soon enough they were back where they could be seen by all.
Thanks for the fun.
