Found by gibbo003 on a visit to hanoi. After a long walk from our hotel we managed to find our way into this very out of the way lake. Thanks Spindoc Bob din't think I would be finding one of your caches in Vietnam but that what geocaching is all about. Thanks for creating this cache and the tour of Hanoi we would not have found but for this cache.

After finding B-52, we found the spot (with no help from our dodgie map that tried to lead us through a school) after making our way through the tiny alley-ways. A very interesting walk.

I had heard about this one from mugglers. They said it was impossible to find. Even with GPS (or maybe thanks to it) it was hard. The alleys in Hanoi is not easy to navigate...

Well I wasn't going to come to Vietnam and not do Spindoc Bobs cache !!!!
After completing the '2009 Vietnam Moon Bear Rescue Challenge Trek' our group of 14 Australians were given an afternoon of free time in Hanoi. Everyone went to do some shopping but I of course went caching
It took ages for my GPS to find satellites and with no road map software on it I just had an arrow to follow.
The direct distance was only 1.7kms away but after having just completed a challenging 70km trek through the jungles of Northern Vietnam I figured 'how hard could that be' LOL
After walking for a while I decided to jump into a taxi and see if I could speed up the trip. Of course the driver couldn't understand a word of English and my Vietnamese was still only about 10-20 words, none of which were 'do you happen to know what this place is, and if you do, can you take me to it'
So I showed him the arrow on the GPS and pointed in the general direction and just smiled at him. Woohoo it worked and we were on our way.
He managed to get me within 450 metres, I think that was an improvement on where we started
So off I went on foot again, down some rather dodgy side street but always getting closer to whatever I was getting closer too.
Before long the tiny laneways (that were packed with fast moving motorbikes and the locals preparing their evening meals on the side of the road) opened up into an area that had that feel of I'm getting closer
The GPS managed a good fix and with only 80 metres to go I started getting rather excited I was about to bag this cache.
WOOHOO .....lo and behold I found it and got the required picture taken.
Huge thanks Spindoc Bob

10:30 - our first cache in Vietnam, good to remember the bad time in this country, TFTC

Had a nice walk from the hotel to this location. Not at all where I expected it to be. Got a moto back into town. Thanks for showing me this location.
I don't know what "so morgan" found, but it wasn't this cache. There is NO way that you can stand in the grass next to this cache as it is in a lake.
We visited this place due to geocaching. Without geocaching we wouldn`t have seen this area.
Picture comes as soon as possible.

What an amazing Area...I wish we had a bit more time here. Kids just out of school and practicing their English on us. Cannot find much other information on this site and certainly none that I could find in travel books. Thanks for bringing us here Spindoc Bob.... (photo on return)
No visit to Hanoi would be complete without logging it's only cache! This location's in the backstreets, rather than a main road, so it was good to have the coordinates and a GPSr.
As I was taking my photo, an older Vietnamese guy approached me and tried to tell me something. Unfortunately his English was too fragmented, and my ear too poor, to make much sense of it. So he autographed my phrasebook and bade me au revoir!
Thanks Spindoc Bob!

aaaargh!,we rode here on are pushbikes, took some finding though!,we took some shortcuts through some tight alleyways and finally stumbeled across it,about 200m away there is another small park that is also worth checking out, with small elephant statues, thanks for bringing us 'ere for a very entertaing afternoon.
There are so many things to see here in Vietnam and this is one we would have surely missed had you not taken us to this very interesting spot. In the company of the Pirates we cycled to this through some interesting back streets. Thanks for the hide.
We all cycled to this piece of facinating history and navigated the back streets of Hanoi.

This one was a challange. What ever you do don't use a taxi to find this one. A motor bike or on foot would be best. We upset a few locals on this trip. The streets were very narrow & they were doing work on the streets & park. Anyway got there & took the pic although not very good, camera all fogged up & driver in a hurry.
A great piece of history & a tight fit all round
First in Vietnam a couple to follow, I hope.

Last day in Hanoi was for tidying up odds and ends, last minute purchases, ... and a cache hunt. Good to leave wonderful country on a happy note with an easy find.

It was a long hot walk through Hanoi for this one, but I got it. Great virtual to a place not mentioned in guidebooks. I especially enjoyed the twisty turny quiet little alleyways I needed to navigate to get there.
Thanks for the cache - thanks Spindoc Bob
