After clammering all over the place with a friend who had found it previously we had to call quits and moved onto another.
A very good size challenge by two of us only to find a lot easier way nearby.

24-Sep-08
Still didn't find it but found a container the correct size washed up on the rocks.
Maybe the big tides washed it loose?

20-Sep-08
Took the way up through the rocks and got just above the cache site.....unfortunately didn't heed the warning and atempted this one at near high tide during a storm (idoits???YES!) turned around to see nothing but a white wall of water and we were soaked straight through.....then came the downpour of the storm Sad wet, wet, wet walk back and no cache....maybe tomorrow??
September 21, 2008
bright eyed and bushy tailed the sun shining today we headed back....the tide was a bit too high for our liking and not wanting a repeat of yesterday we have decided to try some other time Smile

20-Sep-08
Well I guess it would have been a good idea not to look for this one at a rising tide or in a storm. We chose both! We made it up the cavern fine, but then it went downhill. We reached GZ and had a little look, waes crashing against the rocks, wind blowing heavily towards us. My GPS still said it was 10m away, but I had a look at a rick pile, then cherieboberry said run. There was no time to run so I turned around. A heavy spray of water hit my back. Great. Cold and soaking wet, we made our way back up the hill and stood behind the rock and another spray launced at us. Of course it it started to rain. Lucky we had our clothes in the car.

We came back the next day for another look, but the waves were still crashing high. I think we'll wait until another visit.

Oh, how we looked! Up, down and around, with the clue and all, but to no avail.
Well worth the search though - it was a great spot and some great rock hopping. It's been a while since this has been found though - is a cache check in order?

09-Jan-08
I didn't have the hints and ran out of time as the tide was coming in (doing the 3 beaches walk)

01-Jan-07
Joe Possum and daughter needed to decrypt the hint to finally get this one on Friday 29 December at 7:30pm. Enjoyed the scramble through, under, over and around the rocks but didn't hang around in the chilly wind for the sun set. Took heart shaped clip and left key ring. Thanks Biggles Bear.

What a struggle to find this. I wonder if a bit of cache creep has made the clue a bit misleading as it wasn't at the base. Still the location was amazing and Poodle-Smoodle and I claimed this as a prize, even though we had no pen! (sorry) It was a great adventure as we walked back to Tidal River after the find. TFTH

We needed a cache on Map 38 of the UBD and headed this way intending to attempt
Wilson's Promise only to find that it had been disabled since our plans hade been made about which cache we would find here and then decided to attempt this one as there was less walking involved and time was now of the essence. We followed the GPSr through, around, under and over the obstacles. Once in the vicinity of gz the cache was find quickly and after signing the log we decided to take what looked like an easier way home. This was when we found out how cunning bigglesbear is as he had laid many good looking but dead end tracks down to try and slow us down a little.
Thnaks Biggles for a great cache at a fantastic location

What a magnificent setting for a cache! The weather was lovely and we all had fun rock-hopping around from the Picnic Bay side, getting to the GZ at approx 17:00.
T: 10p piece & Tidal River pin
L: several foreign coins.
A ripper - many thanks Biggles Bear.

Found by djcache & Aislin at 1700hrs.

Managed to avoid getting our feet wet - just! And certainly surprised the white pointers who thought they had the beach to themselves when we emerged after the find. An unexpected bonus of a good cache.

If attempting this cache please use the route you take in when leaving rather than the tempting one above the cache which is being rehabilitated.

Left badge.

Thanks Biggles Bears!

When we arrived at the beach the wind was blowing a gale and the waves were very high, we scrambled over the rocks trying not to be blown off and made our way to GZ. Found the cache and took some photos of the view.

Simuntaneous find by Rhinogeo and Adam. Not as hard as we thought it was going to be. Great views! Thanks Biggles for the cache.

Pickupfamily Dad claims to be the one who read out the hint who enabled Rhinogeo and Spruce Moose Adam to find this cache. Smile. It was much easier getting up from the beach than we expected, and the way out was even easier. Wink Thanks Biggles Bear, we're sorry you didn't get down to the Prom event.

Found on 07/10/06 @ 1725 AEST. Heeding BB's advice, Pickupfamily Dad, Mr Spruce Moose, and I waited for low tide and embarked on the hunt. It turned out we needn't have been so cautious, but a fun time was had clambering over the rocks, before finding the cache relatively easily Cool

Went for a walk along the beach with the Coffee Clan, even in the freezing cold the views were fantastic. Thanks Biggles Bear for the cache.

After much planning around tides and a long drive on a special mission to give this unloved cache some attention I found it has had some loving already Smile. With a log in the scroll for the 12 of June this cache has been visited frequently enough to be happy. Planning my attack based on tides paid off with the sea pretty angry today, high water might have been mission impossible. Did some scouting on another cache I am after while I was in the park and decided it will have to wait for a bit.
Thanks for taking me to an interesting location in an area I haven’t been for a very long time.

It took us three tries by three different routes to find this one. We loved climbing over and through the rocks. A great remote location.

Had a wonderful time looking in rockpools and boldering. Arrived at GZ but unable to find Cache. Went back and enjoyed watching the tide come in.

@16.30
3rd cache this weekend, we were 8 people here (7 GC newbies). We chose this cache in favor of "It's Over on" on Mt Oberon, because this one had a difficulty rating of 5/4. We had a picnic at Squeaky Beach and headed towards the cache.
Even though it said 1,4km to the cache from Squeaky Beach, we started out climbing the rocks, like real adventurers Smile We went pretty far and crossed some dangerous paths. We wondered a bit, but the terrain rating was 4, so perhaps it was meant to be this way? Having spent at least 40min and still having 1km to go, we tried to head up for the top of the hill, leaving the dangerous rocks. Up here, we found the Picnic Bay track and realised we had made an initial mistake... but it was challenging and a good story, now!
Approaching the cache location, we (again) followed the shoreline and started searching the area.
Having thoroughly searched all the small and large caves nearby, we had almost given up, after 30-40min, when Rob tried the GPS again and said the cache should be there, a bit from where we were looking. Giving it a chance, I went to him and started searching. Looking in the right area, I found it quickly... so today's lesson is: Trust the GPS! Don't let your imagination take you too far away from GZ.
We think the difficulty rating of 5 might be a bit overkill... but it was good fun!

Found while rock hopping and bouldering around Squeaky Beach on what was supposed to be a seakayaking trip (wind and waves had other ideas however). Cache was a bit exposed, we tried to cover it a little better. TNLN.

Found it after a scrabble through the rocks. Spectacular spot, glad to see it has been left by the fire.

I came with no pen, no camera - complete shambles on the organisation front.

I had not walked the Prom for quite a while so I decided to do this cache from Tidal River. The Rangers said that I should go around the last part at least 2 hours before high tide (fullish moon - high high tides). They were right. I just missed getting a little damp. The visitors centre will give you the tide times (if you ask nicely).
It is a great walk with fantastic views.
Took: Snake, Left: Dolphin
Thanks, Robmc.

Decided to abandon the search before we even started, terrain & tide were against taking a 5yo and a 9yo for a search, so left it to do another time.

Found by NarreYouth

Found with Chookies. It was hard climbing up all the rocks especially since I was in bare feet.

Very well hidden, found after about 2 or 3 minutes. Loved the views from the rocks.

After we found it we realised there was a path that went from the top of the rocks right sown to the beach, we had to keep low so the rangers didn't see us as the there was a sign saying 'Stay Out'.

We had great fun in the waves at the beach, they were huge.

This cache was fun finding

Thnx Biggles Bear

Found with the geocaching guru of Narre Youth. Two ways to visit the cache -Up the path to the lookout, then down through the revegetation area (easier but a big No-No), or around & over the rocks. The later is the way to do this one, but is much safer & more comfortable with shoes on.
One of the Narre Youth went barefoot [B)] & yours truly ended up giving a piggy back ride on the way back to the beach. We found the cache fairly quickly, & it was still well hidden.

The views on the way down to the beach were lovely, at the beach were georgeous, and from the lookout above GZ (on a different trip)the views were also wonderful. The Ocean was clean as was the sand, the surf great to jump around in, and we all spent around 3 hours at this beach.

I don't know if this is the correct date. Will have to go back and check the log book!...

Great cache, better spot, best place

Thanks Biggles.

Found at 0940. I could see the next weather front on the horizon - well it formed the horizon - and made a quick dash to the GZ. Retrieved, signed and retreated before the deluge. Great spot, love the bouldering.

Just a note to show TB's Willy Worm and Helmet visited this cache - but only stayed to admire the view as the cache is far too small for them.

We arrived at high tide - so this was a bit of a scrabble! Beautiful location - fantastic beaches - and we had wonderful sunshine.

The co-ords were spot on. I said the GPS is saying the cache is ...... here! And there it was. Classic caching!

Left a Harrods golf tee and a British 10p coin.

This was going to have to be a quick find as we needed to get back to camp and join the rest of the group before they went for a walk to Tongue Point. So when we got to the area, we walked over the rocks as the tide was coming in and then made a rush for the top. We got to GZ and thought - great, so many hiding spots. But once in a while it happens - look over there - and there it was Big Grin We found the cache at 11.35am took a die and left a paper clip.
Thanks BB - this was made easier as the weather was absolutely glorious.

Found at 3:00pm on our Long Weekend Tour of the Gippsland. This was my definite favourite spot of all the 10 caches we found this weekend. We loved the clambering, the balancing, the views and the whole area generally. Even 3 year old A loved the area at the bottom, though we couldn't take him all the way to GZ. I jammed my finger against a rock on the way down, but that still didn't deter from the whole experience.

Due to time constraints, we only got to do 2 of the 5 Prom caches on offer, meaning another day down here soon.

Thanks for this fantastic spot BB, from D,H,K,H & A B-A.

Took Mighty Bean, left a 6 sided Dice.

We found this cache at 5:15pm. We crawled around, over, under and through the rocks whilst avoiding all the dangers. The cache was easily found using the extra hints given.

Thanks for the cache!

Found by Rachel and Geoff at about 11:00am on Wednesday 28th January, 2004.
This was our third cache found at the Prom during our short stay down here. Pam decided to stay basking in the sun while Rachel and I set off to find the cache. It seemed too to me far to go through the rocks so I elected to go the water route while Rachel chose the rocks. Although it was low tide, the water was knee deep in parts so I took my shoes off and waded around the rocks. At the point where I had to re-enter the rocks, there was a crop of cunjevoi which provided a safe albeit squishy point to clamber back onto the rocks and put my shoes back on. Without giving too much away, I quickly found the cache just as Rachel arrived. We did our exchange, logged our visit and returned to our beach towels etc. and Pam via the rocks.
This is a great time to be at the Prom, as school starts tomorrow for most schools, and the crowds have gone, with only a few campsites still occupied.
Left an Australian Olympics tie pin.
Took the blue sticky stretchy alien
Thanks for yet another interesting cache Biggles Bear.

Straight Up? Or On The Rocks?
I was very wary when I saw the difficulty rating on this one. The terrain didn’t bother me, in fact I looked forward to it, but I hate searching for a cache and not finding it. And with an overall difficulty rating of 5, I suspected that I might leave this one empty-handed.

I approached the cache using the guidelines provided, being careful to avoid the watchful eyes of the pirates and smugglers. An American couple posing as tourists in the carpark did not fool me, but I was fast enough to duck into the cover of the rocks before they reached the beach. After arriving at GZ, I made a check of nearby likely locations and was delighted to find the cache after only a couple of minutes. Again wary of watchful eyes, I retrieved the cache and made my swap.

I took a rubber ball and left a stretchy, sticky alien in it place. This is a fantastic location, and a number of photos were taken to document this. Thanks for the cache, Biggles Bear, and for leading me there. By the way, I thought I understood the meaning of the cache name, but when I arrived, I understood the real meaning.

Found at 6.45pm - An easy stroll, even with high tide.
We came down to relocate Corner capers, but where we walked would have been too tough - grade 7???.
This cache compensated for our lack of success in relocating our cache.
No exchange made.
Thanks BB

Found by Mary & David at 0840. On the rocks, naturally, be it Green Chartreuse or vintage Solo. On the other hand, straight up or on the rocks describes the more difficult caches that we have learned, the hard way, are usually beyond our own terrain limits. When this cache first appeared, the terrain and difficulty ratings were reversed, and knowing Biggles' standards in these matters we were decidedly pessimistic. Luckily for us, we decided to have a look anyway. Made sure it was low tide, then went through absolute hysteria tackling the rocks. Like a scene from Dr Doolittle it was Push Me, Pull You. Hiking boots proved invaluable on the various surfaces. A bit claustrophobic up a chimney-like formation, but we emerged close to GZ. Then it was 'Eureka' as we found the treasure. We're too old to be Frederick and Mabel as in G&S, but the Pirate King and Ruth were very pleased with themselves. Took boxing man, left an acrylic shell. Thanks for the adventure, Biggles Bear.
