Great spot for a cache! Visited this one on a visit to the coast. We were so enthralled by the contents of the cache that we forgot to check the number of ships! there were lots of course. Big Kid swapped something for the cards (cant remember), Middle kid swapped a kangaroo and joey for groucho, Little kid swapped an old barbie toothbrush for a steel rat sticker. cheers Oldkaye
Sorry I reminisced a bit in the log but I did have to spend 5 hours "baby sitting" $60,000 worth of GPS equipment during my days studying to be a surveyor 10 years ago at this very spot. Through the sea spray we spotted 38 ships at anchor out to sea. Didn't bother counting any in the harbour. Perhaps the wharfies had hangovers after last night's Knights game (they won).
No swaps.

What a surreal view! Fantastic location. Lost count of the ships - I prefer the illusion of endless ships stretching off over the horizon.
I think we went the long way across the top of the ridge, so had to scramble a little. Left Cade CD, took stapler.

31 ships today, I was standing there looking around at impassable shrubs for the cache for a while when I just happened to look down and “oh there it is†at my feet. Thanks Crimson8 “Happy New Yearâ€Â. Took Ockie Strap and Ball - left Pegs, Golf Ball and Shower Cap.

What a popular cache this one was today, I was 3rd to find it, I just happen to be the first to get home looks like. I dont know how the others faired, but I got stuck holding the cache for 20 minutes waiting for all the people who turned up to bugger off(didnt see any holding gps's) till I could replace it. I swapped a spikey cats toy for a shiney rock. Coordinates worked out pretty well for me, I followed my plat to ground zero, then went to put it down to average while I had a bit of a look and sat it down next to the cache!(squatting down enabling me to see it right at my feet)
I counted 32 ships including those in the harbour. Thanks Crimson8, its another much needed cache for newcastle

Second to find (by about 30 seconds!)
Stormin'Norman found this one first, but I'll get my revenge. I brought him and his brother along in my car, so I'll just make them walk home.
Baby Rat thought the squishy snake was great, so swapped it for a sticker and a tape measure. Mrs Rat (3 months away from giving Baby Rat another little rat to play with) thought I was mean making her walk up the hill. I did give her the option of waiting in the car with a radio, but she likes finding these things too!
Counted over 20 ships from where I stood, but kept losing count with Baby rat jumping all over me. The extremely windy conditions felt like I'd have to tie her down to stop her flying off.
Nice cache[^]. Be sure to wave to the houses in plain sight of the hiding place!

3rd to log, but FIRST to find! Eat my dust!
I'm just too quick for SteelRat and my brother Mitch, even if at first I went a bit too far and had to double back to find the cache.
It was very windy, and Mitch nearly lost his hat over the cliff while he was counting the ships. I think we got to about 20 ships. It was a bit hard to see clearly because of the clouds out at sea.
I swapped a fluffy ball for a squishy ball, Mitch put in a carabiner for a squishy frog.
Thanks guys for a fun cache!
