It's been been a while since TECATS (TwigNZ, Etherlord Clan and the Seagnoid) have arranged to spend a day tramping together, but plans were made a little while ago that we would have a bit of a wander around some of the tracks around Coppermine Creek.
We love these kind of tracks that take you off for a little tree-time, and if we can find a few caches along the way then all the better. This was a cache that I didn't have on my list for today, but the Seagnod did. We had a reasonable look around where we thought it might have been placed but after all this time we didn't really expect to find it.
PS I've just noticed that if we had have found it then it would have been a FTF lol!!!

This cache has been bungled by someone.
It's nowhere to be found, so I am assuming someone found the contents of this cache interesting and decided to keep for themselves.
Sorry about that. The area seems to be getting trashed, which makes it less appealing to place another cache in the area.

Had to laugh as the area in question has certainly been cleared of guardians - someone has searched here well. The floods almost wiped out the track just before the waypoint, and did so not much further down the track.
[Now did Magooza get there before or after me??]
Cheers, M@

I am currently on holiday down in the South Island.
As soon as I am back in the North I shall check on cache to see if it is there.
As it wasn't located far from the beginning of the track, I would assume that it is still possible to get there, but will definitely clarify this at a later date.
Sorry for the slow reply.

Got to the area early evening. DOC has a sign up stating the facility is closed. Went in anyway, there has been some flood damage to the path. Got to waypoint but couldn't find the cache, even with the hints. May come back to this when I return north in a couple of weeks.
Sorry if it's not accurate, I made the changes requested by e-mail, they may not be 100%, I'll try to find the e-mail tonight and double check, if they are ok, I'll contact the owner.
As no one has visited this cache yet , I am relocating it and changing some of the contents to make more appealing.
It is a place well worth checking out as there is quite a bit of history associated with the area.

Please note: I have changed the caches name from Gateway to views to Gateway to views/mining. I've also changed the co-ordinates from S40° 14.300 E175° 53.902 to S40° 14.894 E175° 53.715. There may be further changes required I'm not aware of.
