Found It!A nice drive out here although it was almost sunset by the time I got to GZ. Great spot for a cache. And it's always nice to find a 20 year old cache that still has the original logbook in it to!TFTC

The tracks on the GPS were a bit different from the actual tracks on the park but we got here. Nice sized cache after a walk through the scrub. tb drop and 2 years unloved. Out with Mogni for a 3 day weekend, leaving friday morning and coming back sunday night. The plan was to go to Cowangie in Victoria and then head in to Murray-Sunset National Park then head on to Mildura and come back via Rufus River road ( in New South Wales ) to South Australia. Night 1 was in the Murray-Sunset National Park at Mopoke Hut camp ground and Night 2 at Mildura then going back to Adelaide. It must have rained recently in Murray-Sunset since the sand wasn't like fine power as expected and other sections of the National park had bypass tracks around the water filled ruts in the main track. Going around one of the bypass tracks i staked a tyre on the friday but didn't notice it to saturday morning. The stake went right beside the tread and the inside wall of the tyre, the stake was the size of my finger tip. Also turns out that i got a screw in my rear tyre thrusday night leaving work. There was alot of reinflating tyres this trip. The flora change in the national park was surprising but i figured that is due to weather or not the ground was sandy or muddy. When we got to Mildura we targeted the 2 multi's mogni wanted to do and of course they were the ones with 7 and 11 stages. After that we targeted the caches with high amount of favourite points and then left the next day via New South Wales so we could get the virtual at Lake Victoria and some of the older 2003 around the border track. A good weekend away 4x4ing.

Sir_spectre and I decided we needed to get away for a few days, so off to Murray Sunset NP and Mildura we went. Not a huge number of caches were found, but we had a great time exploring the NP. We fixed anything we could. Thanks to blue swimmers from mogni

Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Smokey Bear will no longer be a part of Team Smokey Bear and will continue his adventures as "SmokeyBearOG".

So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.
Unfortunately this log will not show the original logging date.

**Thanks to blue swimmers for this adventure, looking forward to many more.**

A nice generously sized container. Wandering around this park looking for mallee fowl. No luck with the mallee fowl, lots of luck with the caches. Thanks for the hide.

Love this place! Cool geo, lots of stuff!!

07-Mar-20
One of my aims whilst caching is to look for as many as I can that are over 10 years old so really pleased to be out in Murray Sunset area and be able to find this one. Thanks so much for placing it originally and maintaining it for so long.

07-Mar-20
After attending the event this morning The_Tritonz, Geoturtle37, Posums, McLookers, Tomstache, Gemma Sistema, Micaparamedic and I set off for our adventure and exploration of this great area.
There had been rain recently so there were a number of substantial puddles that we thoroughly enjoyed.
GT37 was driving (as usual) and was the only one that managed to come to a halt . . . . twice . . . as she successfully drowned the distributor. It doesn't appreciate a good mud bath it seems.
Had a great time collecting smileys out here with a fantastic group of cachers.
Thanks to all the CO's that marked our path of exploration.

07-Mar-20
We spent the night at Lake Crosbie then set off in convoy with many keen caching teams that were all excited about our trek through the desert. Due to the heavy rain only days earlier we not only drove through sand but many muddy puddles but nothing to crazy that wasn't able to be handled by the 7 4WD's enjoying a tour of the Murray - Sunset.
The large cache was found here easily and all team names added to the logbook.
Thanks blue swimmers for bringing us here to this wonderful location.

07-Mar-20
The day kicked off with a geocaching event at Lake Crosbie then we set about having some 4WDing fun! We joined forces with The Tritonz, Papi4056, Geoturtle37, Posums, McLookers, Team Crackers and micaparamedic for a most excellent adventure! A lovely old cache in excellent condition. Was lovely to have Crackers with us who had found this one way back in the old day and we saw their old log when it was more of a story than just a name. Fav point added. Thanks for the cache.

07-Mar-20
It was broad daylight when we were here today but I can imagine it is the perfect spot to enjoy a wonderful sunset. Thanks for bringing us here blue swimmers.

Enjoying a brilliant day in the Murray Sunset National Park with The Tritonz, Team Crackers, micaparamedic, Papi4506, Geoturtle37, GemmaSistema and Posums. It was A great opportunity for the learner driver in our family to get some driving experience expertly helped by all of our caching buddies.

07-Mar-20
After attending the morning event at Lake Crosbie camp ground the intrepid group of Geocarchers headed off to explore the area of the Murray Sunset National Park and find a few caches along the way as we headed to our next destination for the night.
The group included myself, The_Tritonz, Geoturtle37,Papi4506, micaparamedic, GemmaSistema, and McLookers who was brilliantly chauffeured along the tracks by Tom who did a great job in his first 4wd day out.
The Geovehicles got dirtier and dirtier as the day progressed after all of the rain they had up here during the week.
Nothing like following a new to 4wd driver who was having a ball driving through the mud and water being cheered on by all of us.
Not sure how mum was coping in the back seat at the time.
Came across this golden oldie from 2003 and it is great to see that it is still in play for all of us to come out and find.
Not sure about this walking bit though to find this one as I was quiet comfortable in the Geocruiser at the time.

Thanks blue swimmers TFTC.

What an incredible, amazing and awesome day! Cool[^]SurprisedCool[^]Surprised
While muggle partner and Mrs Moneydork stayed at the Moneydork residence, Moneydork and I left about 10am for a HUGE day of awesome, cool, fun and fantastic caching [^]Cool[^]Cool arriving back at about midnight [|)][|)]
We'd left in humid and hot conditions and thoroughly enjoyed a kayak on the Murray to find 3 caches Cool[^] Then we headed for a couple of Moneydork's 'haven't been able to find' caches and one of my 'haven't been able to find' caches, all of which were found CoolSmile Next was a massive drive through the Murray Sunset National Park and finally, for the grand finale (in my opinion anyway Wink ) the last cache of the day for both of us was a FTF at about 22:32 Big GrinCool[^]
Gradually the weather of the day had changed. On the way back to Berri, there was lightning all around us but none overhead, late at night the temperature rose from 28 to 30 degrees [?] Surprised and then the wind picked up....soon followed by torrential rain and the temperature suddenly dropping to 23 degrees SurprisedSurprised Concluding the incredible day was the sight of frogs, hundreds of frogs, jumping all over the road near Loxton [?]Surprised[?]Surprised It was as if it was raining frogs! Razz That's something I don't think I've ever seen before!

Wow SurprisedCool A 13 year old geocache Cool[^]
Moneydork had really wanted to get in to this cache for some time so today he used this as an excuse to play on the tracks in the park and we loved the scenery, the caches and the skies lighting up with storm clouds and sunset [^]CoolCool
The cache had a small lizard guardian who kept running in circles around the trees... so cute! Cool
Love a big cache, love a Moke and I'm guessing that a heap of fun was had when this cache was placed Big GrinCool

Another truly awesome cache

15-Oct-16
My mum used to do a week long ride through this park every year with the Melbourne Trail Riders Club, who still do this ride. I hadn't been here in 20 years, and after a lot of research and safety planning, undertook a solo expedition here by myself to retrace Mum's steps, who passed away a few years ago.

A great drive here, then a bit of a bush bash to get to the cache. Cache is in good nick, shame the CO's seem to have left the game in 2007. Would be happy to adopt this cache.

Cheers and thanks for more caches out in Sunset country!

We're certainly enjoying driving around this area - nice weather and the solitude is deafening! This cache has to be the second largest we've ever come across (the other being "Jeepers Creepers"). Amazing what can found in the most out-of-the-way places in the bush!

WOW! What a great cache. So glad we stopped.

Was a the tail end of a 4 car convoy and as we approached I noticed the size in the listing and thought "we have to stop"! The other cars continued on but we stopped and I jumped out with my 9 yo daughter and 6 yo son and ran the 117m from the car to the cache. Stumped when we got their at first, as I was saying - its got to be easy to see..... AHHHHHHH! Sneaky!

Then we opened it a found such a good stash inside. Well done ALL for keeping this well stocked. My son made a swap but could barely touch the bottom! LOL

TFTC blue swimmers!

I have just spent 3 fantastic days in Murray Sunset National Park with "Are We There Yet."
We had not been in the area that this cache was placed in so it was an ideal excuse to do a bit of touring. I was laughing quite a bit when I saw this one. WOW. I wish they were all like this. We were camping at Pheenys right at the other end of the park and I nearly lost all my fillings on the trip back along the Rock Hole Track, it was so lumpy and bumpy. Great day driving in an excellent bush park. Thanks blue swimmers. Took nothing left nothing, but when I come back this way I'll be putting a few goodies in this one. Lots in there but room for more!

30-Sep-12

Found by Roma and Max.
We were indeed pleased to finally find this hide of yours as for various reasons, on previous trips into the park, there has always been something that prevented us from getting here!
We also found recent footprints at GZ yet no evidence in the log to explain them.
We did pass one vehicle on the way in here and are left wondering if that may have had a connection with these tracks!
Cheers,
from Romax.

MOKING IS DEFINITELY NOT A WEALTH HAZARD. This cache needs to be re-stocked, RH mirror or headlight would have been nice. The photo was taken on our Darwin trip last year and the husband REALLY wanted to adopt this one as a twin to our red one. Thanks from another Moke owner.

This is a wonderful part of Victoria. Visited site on a round trip from Hattah Lakes, via Mopoke Hut, GZ, Mt Crozier, Pink Lakes and return via Ouyen. Great day out. Fun drive. Cache is in great condition. Added a water ball to the cache and picked up the Liberty Bell travel bug. After almost six months since the last visit it must be time for the bug to move on.

Found by Sam, Jedda, Declan & Baby Cooper. Easy find after a little walk, Quite possibly could have met up with Jalaw at this cache if our two boys hadn't been asleep and us deciding to come back a little later in afternoon. Took 'Mini Cooper' Patch for above reason and left Screw on tyre deflator. Thank you Blue Swimmers.

Together with Team TDB we dropped into this cache during a cruise around Murray Sunset. The park looks very interesting and we will definetly be back. The cache is also a ripper, not hard to find but quite unique. Well worth the effort to get here. Bring some larger swaps, there is plenty of room.

After leaving the huge Rocket Launch cache we didn’t want to leave the area without doing this one. We certainly weren’t disappointed when the GPS took us straight to it.
As Maccamob said before us it was like finding a Pirates hidden Treasure.
Took King Arthur Book
Left Vegemite Activity Set & 50 coloured felt tip pens
Thanks Blue swimmers, know off to explore some more of this interesting park that we would not have visited if you had not brought us here

02-Jan-05
A very interesting drive in to find this one and was amazed that it had been also found 3 days earlier.

13-Feb-04
Found by Mary & David at 0935. What an amazing landscape. Felt like the only people in the world, as we saw not a soul after we left the highway. GeoChallenger took to the sandy bits with ease - no way the GeoCalais would have managed. Parked on the road and enjoyed the short walk to GZ. Glad it wasn't as hot as yesterday though. After previous encounters, we were VERY wary of the porcupine grass. Found the enormous cache immediately - like a pirate's treasure! Took cocky fridge magnet, left 'Mystery of King Arthur' book. Time for the Geocoin to travel, too, so we brought it along with us. Our thanks to blue swimmers and the SA Moke Club.
