As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm temporarily archiving this to keep it from continually showing up in search lists. Just contact us when you have the cache repaired, and assuming it still meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.
well we worked out where this one should be but didn't find it. we didn't look too hard though after reading Grank's note. it also didn't help that there was a guy hanging around behind us the whole time we were there either. we checked him out for a GPS but couldn't see one. it was such a gorgeous day to be in the gardens though and had a fantastic time reading the display and wondering around through the gardens.
Thanks Drunken Gunmen i'm sure we'll try again.

Hi Drunken Gunmen, better do a cache check as I was there last night accompanying Bensel. I wathched him scout around for 15 minutes and you can imagine my surprise when he reached exactly where I rememeberd it to be and just passed on and kept searching. I checked it out with a metal object I had and that confirmed that the cache was not there.
This is a nice one. We found the container at was but did not think it was the right one . Loved the bats!
Interesting story here and lots of muggles. I had to wait for all other interest parties to absorb all the information, then a tour group of 20 people arrived to look at the “jam varietiesâ€, before I could retrieve the cache. GZ spot on, which is surprising here. Maybe the flying bats radar helped the GPS signals penetrate somehow???? . Thanx to Drunken Gunmen.

A pleasant stroll through the gardens, couldn't work out the link between the name/song and the location until I rechecked the available information ... good one The container is getting a bit difficult to open, you will probably need a tool.

Found the cache but the container is rusted shut. At least I think it was the container......
I had an extra challenge to avoid a nut wearing pink gaiters and no shirt doing some kind of weirdo movement / exercise. I enjoyed the visit.
This one was a bit hard to find. The hint really helped, but even then, the cache was "hiding"... Great place, taught us some history . Took button, left kitty.
Don, Cheryll and I found it. The gunmen's suggestion to pay attention to the hint was the key for us. Took a keyring and left a ROCO sticker. Thanks for a lot of fun. Going home to USA now and this will probably be my last cache here.
Cache is still there. Future visitors should remember to use the hint as GPS performance in this area is poor. Thanks to Philma for the cache check.
Yes! Right on target. Nothing there today either (Posted by cellphone at 00:25-GMT)
As Rieman I only found a box with religious contents...
May a check is necessary?
Anyway a very interesting place and beautiful as well.
Thanks Alpini

Tried several times; no joy . Went back on 28 Jan with a local who is in the NSW SES. We found a plastic container filled with religious texts assume that is not the cache.
Not too difficult to find. Interesting history lesson (knew most of it, but the local stuff was new). Wanted to drop off a travel bug (Placido Domingo), but it was a fraction too big. TNLN.
BTW - The bats nearby were very interesting and creepy.

Cache check - all OK. But you will need a tool to open the container - I used a screwdriver but a knife or small key would do.

Muggles Muggles everwhere tis not fair, holiday season is a good reason to stay from there.
Finding this one took me a while. I knew where to look, but the cache wasn't exactly where the owner last left it.. found it in the leaves eventually, and replaced it "a bit to the left" where it will get less rusty in the future.
Took 25cents USA coin, left a Canadian flag pin.
Thanks for the history tour, and for the distraction while SWMBO explored the gardens.
Cheers

Found on my second attempt. Previous attempt had me exactly where the cache was, but somehow I hadn't touched it. Bad luck interpreted as being in the wrong spot! Nice one, great spot to visit.
A relatively simple cache after the mind bending creativity of the "Coffee Lovers Cache"!!!
Thanks for the clue it makes sense once in the correct location.
Another success for myself and EvilDan - this partnership seems to be working well.
Took: olympics pin (husband is a pilot and aeroplane freak!!) Left: an Ecoteam keyring (which I picked up from a cache that seems to be fairly inactive). Hope you don't mind me moving it on guys!
Cheers Gunners. xxx

It was supposed to be 42 deg today, thank goodness it didn't make it to that temperature. I ran down from the office in Surry Hills with the idea of picking up a couple of caches in the area. This was all I could manage. Thanks for the clue, my GPSr had me in an area about the size of an olympic pool. TNLN mainly because I couldn't get the lid off the cache. Either my fingers are too puny or rust has secured the lid shut.
My third find in Australia using no GPS and just my mapping and tracking skills! I loving learning things and finding a cache, thanks. I took the purple frog and left the Halloween ring. I found this one at 3:07pm after enjoying the beautiful gardens for several hours.

After just finding "Hey You" my wife and I were on high so went to this lovely park for our second, but alas nothing. The Satellite Lock was great but the clue didnt really help much, maybe next time.
There were lots of people around today, which was to be expected. We waited and waited then we made our move. I haven't been here for years so it was nice to be able to appreciate it now I'm a little older.
Thanks

Found this one on my way from a DNF at "Farewell to Old Sydney Town." Made for a pleasant walk through the gardens and right by the daytime home of the famous fruit bats. Great sight for an out-of-towner.
Got to GZ and the clue immediately made sense. Right where I suspected. (Thanks!) TN, left a United Airlines 1996 oympics pin, and signed the log.
Thanks for a bat-tastic stroll in the park!

Cache check - all is OK. The cache had moved a little and was covered with leaves. The container is excellently camouflaged because it was even hard for me to find.
Repositioned the container to the left so it is now off the ground.

I think I looked at the right place, but came up empty. Place overflowing with muggles (found out it was a public holiday - doh!)
DNF - should've taken more notice of history and less of the strawberry patch. By the time I figured it out I was late for work and there were muggles about, so I will have to return and try again. 3rd DNF of the morning - at least the exercise was rewarding
Went after this one while I was in the area looking for Fruity Bats. Good hide but getting the container open was a bit difficult but managed with the assistance of a key.
Cheers from foxbat

Bainsworld and I are really enjoying our lunchtime geowalks around the city and this was no exception. Plenty of muggles about and a few muggle historians who held us up for a few minutes but it was a great Sydney day so it was all good. Good hide and good reminder of our past. Thanks Drunken Gunmen
r2c11e and I combined heads on this one. After studying the area and waiting for muggles to depart we tried a few things which didn't work. Then after pondering the clue and deciding there was only one place it could be ... there it was. Thanks guys, liked the container.
Found this one easily at 645 am, gates opened early today , Tin was quite difficult to open.
Took me 30 minutes to do this cache due to workers, muggles, benchsitters, and a couple that had to read every word of the history lesson. C'mon, people, move along! Took the keychain, left some US coins (including our worthless penny!). Thanks! Martinp13 from Fort Worth, Texas, USA
Finally found it!! (I think)
I didn't open the container, as it was only on a whim that I tried, once again, to find this one on my way back to work late after a long lunch.
I was on a high from finding "The Naval Treaty", and knew my way by heart to the "Jam" from 5 previous attempts.
Will go back once more to sign the log.
Cheers,
Andrew

Co-ords were a bit out b ut once I read the clue the location became obvious., Fairly quiet on this saturday afternoon, so didn't feel too bad retrieving it. TNLN. Thanks!
Had a spare lunchtime, took a walk in the gardens and ran into about a hundred schoolkids! I lurked in (what I hope was) an innocent fashion and tried to work out where it was. Ran out of time and ideas, so its DNF until another day...
Found it after searching for around 30 minutes. The name is a little of putting but that happens sometimes. Well thought out location though.
Found this one after five attempts, didn't log a DNF because I hadn't given up. It feel good to get that one out of the way. Thanks Drunken Gunmen, Regards Philma.
Well, we didn't find it within minutes but we did eventually find it. It took while as we had to wait till muggles moved away. On a busy Saturday morning this involved a fair bit of waiting. Once found we withdrew to examine contents and sign the log. Returning it was not a problem, shoelaces came undone again. Took nothing, left a Harry Potter pin.
Great clue! Found this within seconds after arriving. I had more trouble putting it back because a group of high school kids on an excursion were being lectured to by a long winded teacher. I had to wait until they moved on to put it back. Even then I had to use extreme stealth because of the number of people passing by. Thanks GEK. As always, I love your work.
Cache check. Magnets have been removed as they are not really necessary - cache is fairly secure in its current position. The elements have done a good job of improving the container's camouflage - quite difficult to spot if you don't know what to look for.

My GPS does not seem to like Australia. Battled and gave up after 30 minutes. Looked under all the poster boards about the Aborigines but found nothing. Too bad.
Quick to find gz and no one was about so I could have a good look. Had to get back to work soon and was just about to give up when the clue made sense.
What a top hiding spot. A muggle came up as I was putting it back but I don't think he saw what I did.
TNLN
Thanks gunmen my third in a lunch hour WOOHOO

O fabulous day! Office persons soaking up the sun; others jogging alongside the harbour; the gardens in winter splendour. Could have sat in this wondrous place for hours, but there's only so long you can make a cheese sandwich last and there was work to be done. The co-ords collided with a school group learning about Koori culture; we took interest & learned a bit ourselves. We palmed the worldly TB and managed to slip in a kangaroo keyring. Lots of caching potential round this neck of the woods. Thanks for the great hide, DGs.
Great hint!!!Easy find but not so easy opening the cache.Left TB(little world globe)
Found 16:20, a nice easy find this afternoon, a pleasant evfening for a walk in the park.
TNLN thanks to the Drunken Gunmen.
TNLN thanks to the Drunken Gunmen.
Had a crack at this, but there was not a muggle free moment to be had. One couple had a reading rate of about 1 word per minute. *sigh*
I'll be back.
I'll be back.
In Sydney for the weekend so had to find a couple of caches whilst we were here. Took a while but finally found it. Bit difficult with so many muggles around. Never mind - some interesting reading whilst we were waiting. Thanks for the search DG. Tony & Carole, Qld
My third Sydney cache, and the third of seven for the day. Found it without too many dramas. Thanks for the cache and for the history lesson. TNLNSL.
Nice cache to do during lunch. Was late getting back but who cares. Not me. Found this one and its twin after reading the hints.
Found 5:50pm
Got in touch with quite a few satellites, so didn't take long to find.

Found after a while. Had to wait a very long time for someone to move away. Had a pretty good GPSr fix so just had to do some grovelling around.
TNLN.

Found on about my third attempt. Was very tricky to locate and retreive during peak hour traffic. However, nothing I couldn't manage. Signed the log and replaced as was. Thanks Gunmen for a well thought out spot!
Found GZ easily enough. Finding the cache wasn't. About 20 minutes wandering around, looking at the place where it was going to be proved fruitless. Read the clue and was able to find it within two minutes. Very impressive container. I didn't think they still made things like that. Great read around GZ.
Thanks Gunmen.
Thanks Gunmen.
After visiting GZ a few times on weekdays I realised that this cache would be a little difficult to retrieve. I dropped by again on a Sunday evening when things were a bit quieter, and victory was mine.
I really liked the cache container.

Found by Mary & David at 1000. Bliss to be in the shade. Pity to see the flying foxes ruining the trees nearby, as they are also doing in the Gardens in Melbourne. Realised the meaning of the cache name as we approached. Not long then to locate it, but we had to dodge staff watering and spraying the nearby plants to put it back. Not sure where it was supposed to be, but we replaced it where we found it. Great one, thanks, Drunken Gunmen.
No trouble finding the location but some specifics at the end helped (thanks aft). Lovely day for a walk in the gardens. Thanks Gunmen
Though I would have a go at finding this one having been successful in finding "Patience". Didn't have much time left on the parking meter though and after finding the general area, decided to come back when I have more time to poke around. (and read the logs for hints!)
Third and final cache of the day... Easy to find the right area but difficult to pinpoint location in such a busy area! Returning the cache was *much* easier. Well done cache!
It wasn't too hard to figure out where the cache would be... it's got to be under that... but where? Wandered the length reading as we went, interesting read. OK, so it's got to be there, who's putting their hand in?
A very tasty container (missing one magnet).
But where is the octopus?

My first for the day...
I figured its location as soon as I got in the area, just had to wait for an oportune moment
I wasn't sure if I was watched, so I stayed around for a while until the guy I thought saw me left...

Entered the park on the stroke of 7am as the gates opened and proceeded to ground zero... Once again I didn't use my GPS, because I'd found the spot a few days earlier... Managed to find the cache this time and replaced it in the spot suggested by GEK in an earlier log...

Headed out for this one this afternoon, lots of things you could make Jam from here, Strawberrys, Figs, rasberrys and several citrus flavours but all no help with this cache.
Didn't take us long to pick up on where the cache was located, retrieved the container, loged the find and returned the container all undetected.

Looked in all the obvious places for this one... Gave up after a while only to hear that Riblit had found it an hour later... I shall return to look in all the less obvious places...
Third cache location and second find while waiting for the train strike to end..
What an interesting area. It has been a few years since I have spent time here, it has changed from what I remember.
GZ appeared to be in the middle of a garden bed but mindful of the command to Stay OFF the garden beds in the description, I discounted that and searched around the area while trying to appear to the hordes of interlopers as a tourist enjoying the area. I eventually used my 'phone a friend' card to narrow down the search area.
I found the cache where it was, scribbled in the log and, during a gap in interlopers, quickly replaced it.
The cache was not found in a position as described in the 21 Nov. note by GEK and was replaced as found.

Yes! At last, a successful days caching in Australia. This was my last day before flying back to England and I wanted to make amends for my dismal 2 caches from 7 attempts in the previous few weeks (including This is Jam failed twice now).
This was my first fail of the day (7 attempted), and it was the very annoying, as I had complete detail of where the cache was. I hadn't expected to be able to get back to the location, and had a very very good idea of where to look. I had already established that I was unaware of a certain way of hiding caches, and this was one of those hidden this way. I am sorry to say that I couldn't find it.
Thanks for the cache though!

What a great way to spend the afternoon. Digging around looking for some little box with stuff in it. Well that what we had to tell someone. They asked "what are you looking for?" So what can I say.
Good location and well placed. Message to the owner :- one of two parts is missing. Cache may need some maintenance.
Thanks anyway.

I tried for ages looking for this one. I'm here at the moment in Australia on holiday from England and not having too much luck! I've found one out of 7 attempted so far in Oz! Do you guys bury your caches? lol.
I thought I'd worked out exactly where this one was, but nope, I had to move on. I'm more interested in doing holiday stuff than spending an hour or two looking for a container of sorts anyway, so not overly bothered.

Spent all night at work on a new software release and then managed to grab this one before heading home to bed. If you keep your eyes open you may spot the resident Powerful Owl.
D'oh. There's actually 2 spots closeby that match the clues. I thought I'd try the first spot first whilst I wait for some pesky dawdlers to move on the 2nd spot - turns out it was SwampGecko who consequently pipped me at the post.
I knew I should have taken an earlier lunchbreak! Anyway, nice to meet him and his lovely wife.
Great little cache in lovely locale.

Well today was a special day for Team Gecko, 16yrs of wedded bliss, so we decided to celebrate with a cache chase and a SYdney Harbour Bridge Climb.... Turns out that both were worth the effort.
We were hoping for a virgin find but with the Geocaching crowd in the Ol' Steak and Kidney, virgin caches are now a rarity... But not today, we walked in from Martin Place Station and with a minor detour, as it has been years since Team Gecko had travelled on foot in the big smoke, we finally nailed Ground Zero down real quick. That was the easy part, the trick was out waiting the people who were intent on examining every little plant and sign that they could find. With us about to give up on a quick recovery of the cache a small window of oppotunity appeared and we went for it. We had the virgin cache in our hands.
We had, whilst scouting the location, spotted a young chap who had a nice yellow object in his hands and seemed to be looking in odd areas..... I quietly pointed him out to Mrs Gecko and we had a quiet chuckle as we observed his attempts at stealth, mind you he was properbly saying the same thing about us.
Anyway Mrs Gecko was all for waiting him out and returning the cache so we could move of and observe him in action, but as we were under a time constraint to get to the Bridge Climb Office, I decided to let the stranger with the strange habit know we were onto him. I called out " thats a strange looking phone you have there" The look on his face was GREAT!!!! He knew he was busted so I strolled over and introduced myself as Swampgecko. We had met one of the new breed SWAG Cade. We showed him what the cache looked like and then asked him if he wished to see where it was located, Cade decided that it would be better not to see where it came from, so I restashed the cache, bid Cade farewell and went for our Climb of a lifetime....
Exellent Spot Gunmen....... Keep up the good work

Future visitors should take note that there have been reports that the devices used to hold the cache in place are not to be relied on.
Fortunately there is a spot where the cache can sit where it is both hidden and off the ground. I suggest you place the cache accordingly.
