Something to think about when logging Nick and Bernadettes BBQ.
I am planning to host a geocaching event in Hokitika, in either March or April and am seeking feedback on what dates suit those who might be interested in attending.
Dates to consider are Wild Food festival weekend (13rd March), Easter, or ANZAC weekend.
If you're interested in attending and have a preference as to which of the above dates are finally selecetd, let me know your preference by posting a note on my last caching event;

Trust you're all enjoying the BBQ.

Introductions usually ran something like "Hi, I'm Don and this is my wife Margaret." Blank look. "We're the Mardonosaurs!" Big smile. "Great to meet you! We just did your Coffee Time cache!" etc.
Nice to meet the folks we hadn't before, and to meet again those we had! Thanks to Nick and Bernadette for being fine hosts.

Thanks all for comming. It was a great day, Canterbury turned on a fantastic sunny day. It was nice to put faces to the names of the newer cachers and catch up with the cachers that we met at the previous meeting. We are looking forward to the Canterbury end of summer meeting as well as Moneydorks Westcoast get together.
Cheers

And I didn't even have to use my GPS Thanks for hosting N&B. What a lovely afternoon and great to catch up with everyone, and meet new players! Tentatively have plans for an event on the last day under daylight savings. Not sure where yet, but make plans for doing something that Saturday. Seems appropriate to have a get together on the last day of summer Cheers Gav [165]

I have decided not to attend due to severe weather that has affected the West Coast today damaging the road-rail bridge at Arahura, (just north of Hokitika) to a point where they closed it over night and then only one car at a time was allowed across during the day.
The only alternate route to to ChCh from Hokitika is the Haast Pass, which has been closed during the day due to a washout. Arthurs Pass has also been closed during the day due to a washout and the Lewis Pass has been closed due to a truck being blown over by high winds and is now closed due to flooding.
There is also extensive wind damage and flooding elsewhere throughout the West Coast. Power Pilons were also blown over in North Canterbury.
I can take a hint from Mum Nature, so will skip the BBQ and will be sleeping in in the morning.
My appologies to any of you who were looking forward to Crayfish and Scallops. I was looking forward to meeting you all, but it will have to wait.
Hope you have a good day,
Moneydork.

I think we should be able to make this. We'll be in touch about the possibility of a local temporary cache...
Sorry - we won't make it. We'll still be in the North Island at this stage - we'll just have to cache harder while we're up there!
