As there's been either no response from the cache owner, no cache to find or log to sign, or it's been a number of months since the last owner note. I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace/make available the cache sometime in the near future (next 30 days), just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the current guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it. Should you replace the cache after 30 days has passed please create a new cache listing so it can be reviewed as a new cache.

Day Two of our Gold Coast to Melbourne road trip. Planning to pick up just a couple of caches on the way. This cache took us for a great walk through the scrub. We parked on the Newell & walked maybe 400m through the bush to GZ . The cache container is fairly rusty, as are many of the swapables. Signed the log. Left a thong keyring.

Dipped some trackables that we're currently bringing down to Melbourne.

Cache needs refreshing tin has rusted out & needs new log

easy walk thru the bush to the cache and then there is a track right beside it but no idea where it starts.
Unique container possibly the original for this very old cache.

If you don't watch where you are walking seed collecting tends to be involuntary. Wish I'd read further BEFORE I had negotiated the fence. TFTC.

Nice walk in to the bush, TFTC.
You can believe how old it is by looking at the tin!
Took path tag and left card + pen.

Well this one was certainly interesting. It was bright and early, and as we neared the cache, we pulled into the first driveway. We spotted a bushland reserve sign and decided it would be OK to grab this one. We parked on the highway in-line with the cache and spotted a gate toget us in the bush Smile From then on, it was a straight-line bush bash Smile

The cache was quickly discovered, and yes it certainly is rusty. Couldn't believe this one has been around for almost 9 years.

A nice walk through the bush back, and we were soon on our way back to the MEGA

Found on dusk by geoson while geoparents were crossing back over the fence they didn't need to cross. For those looking for parking, we parked just off highway at S32 07.389 E148 34.807 which is right next to a gate that you can walk through and then only 400m to cache. This is closest point along highway to cache. As one other log said there is a road just North of cache but wasn't sure of access point, plus we were hoping to hear some birds on our walk (except I think they must have all gone to bed already). Sad TFTC

Made the walk from the Hwy. It was a good 400mtrs from where i parked lonesilentwolf,
Found fairly easy, the tin is a bit rusty and the contents are stained, may need the owner to repair.

I had a quick look at this cache on my way home from a wedding in Walgett, but unfortunately I did not have time to get out and walk to the location. There is a spot for parking near one of the gates, it's just off the road north of the cache. Next time I am passing through I'll make sure I make some time to check this one out.

09-Mar-11
Found at last was a bit of a walk from where I parked though.

03-Mar-11
I would add our name to those asking for a parking waypoint. We had a drive around but it all appeared fenced and private property and we couldn't find access. Given those reasons, we skipped this cache which we would otherwise have done.

Found with Lordjimbob55 on our way North to lightning Ridge. The cache container is rusted out and the contents have been very wet at some time recently... Otherwise a great area for a quick walk.

Can I suggest that you add a "suggested parking" co-ordinates wayoint to help cachers find the gate to get in?

Drove around and around for almost an hour until we found a gate.
Found with DrDroid, Tentaces and KRangergirl.

Found it 12:37 while heading South to OzMaga...Smile

Like some others discovered a fence along h/way - but also a gate just adjacent to where GPS indicated 'turn left & go off road'

After a few hundred meters through numerous spiders webs & ant nests (large on right at gate making opening & closing a quick step afffair Wink ) arrived & GZ to see gravel track about 10 mtrs away...

Container showing signs of age & environmental exposure, though stil relatively dry inside...

Thanks to Team Geo-Nads for the cache Smile

Off for a night at the Zoo now...

I was a little worried about bush bashing that far to the cache, but once starting out I could see that my fears weren't justified.
The log was full and the container is more than a little worse for wear. They will both need replacing.
Cheers.

05-Oct-09
The container is showing rust after six years in the wilderness. Thanks for the reason to stretch our legs, some of these road side caches do not offer such an excuse!

Cheers

Parked off the Hwy and walked around in the bush for a while to find this cache. Geowife was a bit paranoid after coming across a snake at the Black Queen in Lightning Ridge but none in sight today.
Cache tin and contents very rusty, may need some maintenance in the near future.

Found at 8.40am GAFF3. We parked the van on the side of the Newell and then walked the 440 metres to GZ through gentle flat bush. It's always an experience to just stop in the middle of nowhere and just go bush to see what's there. Didn't see any evidence of seed gathering, just some pieces of asbestos lying around.
Thanks Team Geo-Nads.

A lovely walk into a pituresque bit of natural vegetation with plenty of colourful wildflowers out in bloom. No sock savers were necessary and I didn't encounter any webs. TFTC.

After a shower of rain on a fine and sunny day this was a lovely walk through a natural forest. I'm not too keen on spiders but I think that they had hidden from the rain which pleased me. TFTC TN left token.

I parked next to the cache which was fortunate as I needed a tool to open the cache. Don't see to many caches like this these days, surprising good at keeping water out. Removed pocket knife as not recommended as swap items. TFTC

Lots of spider webs along the way to this cache. Glad they build up higher in the trees and bushes. They must do it for all the wallabies and roos that pass under. The Queensland ones don't build high, so you can't duck under them.

Nice quick find after another nice walk in the surrounding bushlands. TFTC. TNLN.

I don't know whether I was supposed to walk from the highway or not, but chose to drive my way through the maze of small tracks. After making my way to GZ, the cache itself was obvious and presented no problem at all. No swap was made. Thanks for the cache.

Track! What track? Oh, that track.
The quickest route from point A to point B is not always a straight line, but it was a interesting route this time. Thanks TNLN, cache a bit wet.
P.S. Doing a three point turn on wet sandy soil in a VL is fun but not the best idea at sunset 13 km from town on a bush track.

Found this cache as part of Team Horizons on the Dubbo Gold Rush Weekend.

TNLNSL

Thanks Team Geo-Nads!

11-Jun-05
Found during the Gold Rush Event w/ KittenPie, Swampgecko and Riblit.

After parking the Advance Recovery of Kache mobile in a dodgy spot by the road, Team Mind Socket hitched a ride with the Grey Headed ones for a 700m (as the crow flies) adventure in 3 point turns, and _not_ getting stumped. Wink

This was our last cache for the Saturday afternoon, and the piece of blue metal that made it's presence in my brakes known as we arrived back at HQ probably came from here.

These big distances between the outer caches are taking their toll, the car is now brown, but blends in really well in large mud patches now.

Heading down the newell towards Dubbo, we pulled in to do this one. Again, it was raining lightly so only 2 of us did this one as the girls made some lunch and had that. A bit of a walk in as we do not have a 4x4. Eventually we did get to it and there were a set of fresh tyre tracks right to it.

We swapped some vampire teeth for a ring watch, hid it back and left via a slightly shorter route, partly following track, mostly just through the bush.

Cheers

Found again by qeograndma Maya, and Ray, at 10:45AM on the 30th of Jan. This is our sixth cache on our stop-over in Dubbo as we return to Melb after the CMF in Tamworth. We enjoyed a leisurly drive through the bush, away from the flies, to the cache location. We even managed to spot some wild life (and numerous spiders, as advertised). We took a hand painted pet rock and left a star candle. Thanks from The Nomads.

Found by Jaxon of Team Bronze this morning at 11.40. Absolutely perfect caches for the kids. They were so wrapt at their discovery. In true Red Ochre fashion couldn't help but drive right up to it but had it been our forst for the day I would have prefered to park on the highway and enjoy the walk in.

Swapped Tennis ball and Geko Nads Pet Rock for Cars, Feather and Toy horse.

Jaxon, Chandler and The Bronze.
