Today after meeting my good friend for a bike ride around Ormiston i decided to come out this way to have another ride and collect some smileys. All up i found 6 caches and loved the ride and the serenity. This was my fifth cache to find today and the foliage was thick to walk to GZ where i looked all over and could not find it. I ended up reading some logs and one of them led me to look at a different elevation and there it was all along. What a great day to be a geocacher. Thanks for all the fun
This was one of my target caches for the day. After finding parking at the entrance we set off on foot.GPS counting down, then it was time to go bush. Arrive at GZ and started our search.Barb finally spotted a well hidden container. Log signed and all replaced.TFTC
Second time lucky for this cache. I tried a little while ago with no luck. Wasnt sure when I would make it again to this side of town, but some words of encouragement from another Cacher had me back here this afternoon. After parking, the dog and I walked the familiar trail. Since we were here last, the ferns have really shot up with the heat and rain. The dog had a ball walking through human waist height foliage. There was one spot we didnt really search last time, and today the cache was found quickly. The outer container sits open, and the two inner containers keep the log book nice and dry. My name was entered into the log and all was put back as found. Thanks very much for this cache placement all those years ago Tigey Wigey and Piglet. Cheers
Spent the day hanging out with Peppa and wayn0, cruising around the Redlands, trying to avoid the rain. I was very thankful my comrades agreed to do this cache again given the gross memories each of them had. The smell was pretty bad as we approached GZ but thankfully it was windy which helped disperse some of the smell. Without help I think I would have been looking in all the wrong places for this cache. Tftc Tigey Wigey & PigletFind #5801
Attempted this one today without any luck. It was only when i parked that i understood the significance of the cache name. Better luck next time.
This does not need maintenance. In fact I placed Me and De’s new cache inside the old cache not 20cm apart. Two for the price of one. Maybe weeding at bushcare gives an insight to the location. I’d also say that place you stopped because you couldn’t resist a photo - you’ll probably revisit. At least, that was my choice of egress.
Beautiful walk on my lunch break with Courtney. Such a fun find! We left a little token and swapped it for a fun avatar toy
Today, the plan was the attendance of two CITOs on the southern side of Brisbane, which included a tree planting in Eagleby, and a litter clean-up in Ormiston. Between the CITOs, I took a stop a few stops around Carbrook and Mount Cotton, which involved the targeting of oldie geocaches. A brief stop in Bayview Conservation Park also allowed me to avenge a couple of DNFs. After the second CITO, I took the drive back home and made a few last stops along the way.
Whilst in the vicinity, I had really wanted to return to my couple of DNFs here since mountain biking this area with georode, as they were two oldie geocaches. So taking the jog in this time, I soon arrived at GZ after visiting [Over The Hedge](https://coord.info/GCWYX5). My visit was quite different to my previous visit, as I managed to spot the cache within a few seconds! It just must be more exposed than how it was last time. There was also a somewhat geotrail leading straight to the cache area. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks Steve & Deb for the cache placement, and Tigey Wigey & Piglet for its ongoing maintenance. It was nice to have found this oldie 04/2006 hidden cache, of which is one of Queensland's 500 oldest yet active geocaches. Also nice to have converted a frowny to a smilie!

With no work on my agenda today, we headed out for a drive around the southern suburbs of Brisbane. It seems like a large proportion of the oldest geocaches in Queensland are in these suburbs so, of course, we stopped by this one. A lovely walk in the bush.

Out with Peppa, Giraffe18, 2manytrailers and BlkThunder for the day - this one was the second one for the group
Out for another fun Friday. Started with a leisurely walk through the bush. Nice area. We sent Peppa and giraffe18 off into the scrub while we chatted on the ope track. With Peppa, PirateLinda, giraffe18 and BLKThunder
A day of caching was planned with the regular Friday crew (and Blkthunder) but with a early finish needed we landed in the Bayview Conservation Area…
With an eye on the cluster of old caches we set off from the end of Days Road and this was our second stop and the primary target for the trip…
I had been warned of the neighbours and their olfactory assault on visitors here but kept that information to myself lest my companions refuse to exit the car…
I was concerned with the recent DNF but leaving most of the team on the path, Giraffe18 and I forged a path through the bracken…
I found what I believed to be a suitable GZ and set about methodically flattening the foliage… it was a single word (amongst the many) shouted from the safety of the path that saw me change tact and soon spot the cache… clear as day…
I’d taken note of the reported condition of this oldie so brought a selection of replacement containers… with no exact match I left a slightly smaller similar container and left the original in situ should the CO wish to collect it…
Very happy to collect this Q100 cache…

Lovely stroll through the greenery to find The cache. Half the team waited on the track while Peppa did the main grunt work.
Out with PirateLinda and Peppa and 2MT and BlkThunder.

Nope, this one got the better of me.
It's a lovely area and I can see why a cache has been here for so long.
Today, it rained, and the wind from the chicken farm was in the chicken's favour. GZ is encased in ferns - very very beautiful, but made the find more difficult. A few PAFs later and I still couldn't find it, so off I sulked, through the rain, back to my car.
I'm sure it's there and I'm just cache blind.

Took us 10 minutes but we found it. Container full of water but did minor repairs. Current log in good condition. Needs a new container.
A quick find here today. Thank you to the previous finders for adding a dry log and additional container.
Thanks Steve & Deb for keeping this oldie alive.

Don't go down Chicken Run track, use Days Road Main Trail that runs along property boundary. Pretty close to GZ. Pretty obvious to see from the right direction. Previous clue is correct, look up. TFTC.
Almost gave up but then continued on when the gps started ticking down.
A great spot! Looked all through the ferns but couldn’t spot this one today.

Muggle65 and l targeted a couple of golden oldies today. We didn't think we would find this one after three DNFs but there it was. Cache is in very sad condition and was full of water so we placed a preform with a logbook on top of the original cache so a finders mark can be left. So cool to still have these really old caches so thank you
Don’t we all love a chicken run?? We did think this was going to be a hard one to find but after finding this golden Oldie. We jumped up and down like a pair of dorks…. That’s my story , but please don’t tell anyone else
After this amazing discovery & I were able to replace a new log book as the existing one hadn’t had an upgrade since obviously missing the final call for Noah’s Ark. So it was more than just a little wet. All good we were able to drop off a preform & a dry log book to cater for all the finders coming next week to claim this fabulous cache

Today, I joined georode with our mountain bikes, and we rode Bayview Conservation Park in Redland Bay. It was a long six hour session of riding the various trails, including Chicken Run, Flutter, Sock Puppet East, The Maze, then back up Mud Lark / Scorpion, Bird Cage, Pick Up Sticks, and finally You're Kidding. Several well camouflaged and hidden geocaches were found, including a couple of DNFs. I finished up the day with attendance at the Community Celebration Event in Boronia Heights.
Wow this place has changed heaps in the last 18 years. We had a pretty thorough search around, and this was a rather disappointing cache to not have found, given its age and one of Queensland's 100 oldest caches. It may indeed be here somewhere, but alas where? We searched all the main places, and reviewed past logs and images, but given a number of them didn't indicate that they had too much trouble in locating the cache, we suspect it may actually be muggled? A CO check may be worthy soon. Thanks anyway Steve & Deb aka. Tigey Wigey & Piglet for the cache placement.

Found it eventually nearly gave up! Lots of ferns is definitely a good hint!
Some much needed solitary exercise. A 3hr bike ride in this reserve. Many finds a few dnf and some that I did not attempt.
No smell today, or is that just me?
Cache and contents are quite wet, hopefully the next cacher can bring some spares
Thank you for this cache

What awesome MTB trails. Didn’t know this area existed so didn’t bring bikes. Will definitely be coming back with them. Smell was a bit strong. TFTC
The smell made me feel very unwell.. the natural teepee at GZ was beautiful TFTC

Wow! Fangsoki takes me to all the pretty places!
Trying to really work on getting old caches, and as we had just grabbed one not too far from here, we decided to head around to this one. Now Fangsoki warned me about the odour here, but I’m not sure it really sank in until we were most of the way along our walk, when all of a sudden even the poor sheep seemed to be complaining about what they had to endure. It certainly hit me like a brick wall and I was quite grateful when it was time to head in off the track and begin my search.
Now as I often do, I tended to ignore the obvious spot as my phone put me right between the two ends, so I decided to make my way to the wrong end of course. While Fangsoki took a pew and watched, I headed up, around and along back to where he was, fighting the plant life and picking up many sticky little round burrs along the way, before seeing the container right next to where Fang had set up camp to watch and laugh at my tragic attempts.
Log signed, it was time to brave the thick air back at the track and make it safely back to the car before blacking out.
Thanks for the cache Steve & Deb.

Another bout of insomnia had me looking for somewhere to go int he wee hours this morning. A few of my geo-mates have got a jump on y with the oldest Qld 100 and this one offered the opportunity to catch up one more.
No smells from next door, though it did sound like an aircraft was landing over there. Quickly found, when I put my caching eyes on. Logbook was damp and container lid damaged.
Thanks Tigey, Wigey & Piglet

This morning we thought that it would be a great idea to pick up a few old ones, well that was before we arrived here and walked past the giant fans on the chicken farm. Chicken run??? It had turned into the 4ando run, we wanted to get in and out of here as fast as possible, and wouldn’t you know it, this was the one we were fluffing about and turning up no prize! Clearly the pressure of trying to find the cache fast was throwing us off our game. We calmed down, took a few deep breaths, oh yeah, those deep breaths were filled with chicken stench, but it worked, we found the cache.
We hightailed it out of there and as soon as we got past the giant fans all was clear in the nasal passage. We have to be honest, the stench was no where near bad enough for us to think of becoming vegetarians. Another oldie under our belt.

Thanks for the cache. Found with AJsCache and family during a walk around the tracks. Lots of mosquitos and they were very aggressive!
Came here with my muggle friend to find this old cache. We got to where we needed to turn into the bush but as the muggle was in shorts, I left him on the path to clear his sinuses with the help of the local aromas.
I made my way in and poked around with my hiking pole without turning up a cache. There were thousands of fluffy seeds coating everything and these were easily disturbed, floating into my mouth, nose and eyes and everywhere else. Mr Muggle came in to help and we were thinking of calling it quits when I came up with the cache. Thank goodness for that! I signed my name and Zip Zap for my muggle friend and rehid the cache. It was then a quick trip back to the car so I could drop my friend home and then go home and shower to get rid of all the adhesive seeds.
When I was getting changed I found two ticks crawling about on my back and luckily they hadn't yet sunk their fangs in. One is cooling it's heels in the freezer waiting to be posted to the tick study and the other one fell off while I was getting the first and is still lurking in the spare bedroom somewhere!

Had to do some bush bashing to get to this spot. Quite a fertile little spot here with everything a healthy shade of green. Gcoven went scrub and found it in the first spot she checked. She also came out with some sticky seed pods so it took some time of preening to remove the 30 odd suckers.
This was the premier cache targeted for this area. Will organise a future run here to collect the other remaining ones. Thanks for maintaining this oldie Steve & Deb.

Very overgrown but went with the caching senses for a quick find. Need to due to the pervading odour!
The reason for my visit today was this old cache and in hindsight I wished it was at the end of the hike instead of the start. It could only go downhill from here and it certainly did.
The range of plants on display after leaving the trail was amazing. The ferns were greener than money (for you young people that’s what us old foges call paywave) and I found myself from a bush to a lush landscape in seconds.
I thought I was following a trail but there haven’t been any robots in here clearing a path. What I was blindly following was getting me to the area I wanted to be and so I continued. I had done my research and found a slippery log that a previous finder had run into and so I was confident in my stupidity.
This is actually a really cool spot for a cache and my Indiana Jones bravado made me push on to find it. I was contemplating making a shortcut back to the path but I probably would have been absorbed by some of the human-eating plants here. tftc

I was in the area today with a view to finding some of the older caches in the process.
This cache was found easy enough after a nice walk to GZ. I must admit that the smell of the chickens from the neighbouring property was a bit foul (Lol).
Log was signed and returned to the cache and the cache replaced exactly as found.
All is good with this cache.

I raced down to Mt cotton today after work, I wanted to do all 4 caches here but this one took me a long time and courage.
OMG, I am telling you South East Qld grows wild after the Autumn rains, I am so glad I took my long piece of conduit pipe with me for this one. I was sweating bullets walking to this cache. I looked at a few options to get in there then walked a bit further up and found the BEST way in. Then it was creeping, creeping, poking poking, knocking the weeds away. When I finally got to GZ more weeds(yes I know what weeds are, I am am an avid gardener) and fern and vine growth and standing there on the slippery log( I nearly slipped off and had to grab a vine) looking, looking and hoping no please don't be in there!!!! Oh yes it is and shoved so far down, so a bit more poking with my pipe until i managed to drag it out a bit further to eeewwww put my hand down and grab it. Adrenaline flowing and sweat oozing for Geosportz 2018 because I have to achieve these challenges for a prize and I don't give up easily. Signed both logs, gave the cache a clean up and the clean dry log book a new bag and silica sachets, added new treasure, took the ball so there is more room. I put the dampish log book in the other bag. TFTC and wild adventure Steve & Deb.

special day today for rio ... 2000
I only had a few hours to share but was not going to miss her special target day
starting to think I am not meant to log this cache
the first time I came I forgot to log it
by the time I realised it would have mucked up some stats
no problem ... I will come back with fasted or rio to find it for their oldest and log it them
well now (24.10.17) I realise I have missed logging whole day

Well here I am. I've finally made it to Chicken Run - cache #50 to complete Fangsoki's Queensland's Oldest and Finest Challenge. With barbbowman to keep me company, we followed the trail to the chicken sheds (or should I say smell) and soon had a container in our hands. I was so relieved to find this one, as it is cache#1999 for me. TFTC Steve & Deb and for the four lovely wallabies that kept us company
Very happy to make a quick find here! I think the wind was wafting the smell cachewards. TFTC!
Parked the car and wandered in. We noticed of course the big chicken sheds. I had just commented 'at least they don't seem to smell' and then not more than 10 seconds later the smell came wafting over. Never mind we continued on and we're rewarded with a relatively quick find.
Took awhile looking for this one. Got worried when we saw a DNF on the recent activity. Good that we persevered even though the stench was beginning to give us headache. We could have ran. Nice hide.
TFTC Steve and Deb.

On a day out caching in this area with E(: we decided to do this one first and lucky we did as it would of turned us off our lunch later on, that aside, I would love to know what goes on inside that big Inghams setup and have a visit there.

There were a few bicycle riders on the trail this arvo. Not sure I'd want to be deep breathing the smelly air around here.
Arrived at GZ and after a short search we found the container. There are two log books - the oldest one was a bit damp but we were able to sign it okay. Nice to find another 'golden oldie.'.
Thanks for the cache.

I've been wanting to come over here for this "oldie" for a while, and today was the day
Like the previous cache I again had trouble finding this one. I had to resort to reading past logs and something about looking from above made me think, oh ok I need to be over there [?] Funny thing was, that when I found it I was actually quite close to what my GPSr was telling me was ground zero
So this oldie can now go towards qualifying for a challenge cache at some time in the future [^]
Logbook signed and dated, and cache replaced back where I had found it. All is in readiness for the next "oldie" hunting geocacher to come looking for it
Thanks for the cache Steve & Deb

It's been quite a few weeks since I have been out for a walk in the bush so, wanting to clear the head after a long week at work I looked for somewhere to head for the afternoon. After a walk up Mt Cotton I looked for some other interesting caches to visit in the area. As one of the oldest 100 caches in Queensland I have been meaning to visit this one for some time, but never seem to be quite close enough to pay a visit. Today I made a special effort to head out here. Only one other car in the carpark when I arrived and was on my own as I headed off towards GZ. Having read previous logs I was quite prepared for the smell, but as I got closer to GZ I thought I might be lucky as the nose hadn't detected anything so far. I had barely had the thought when I obviously arrived within range of the turbo fans blowing at the end of the sheds and sure enough the pervasive odour was assaulting the nostrils. Glad there are no close neighbours out here! Arrived at GZ and a short search revealed the container and I was able to sign off on another golden oldie. TFTC

Monday. SP had set themselves a task today - to come to the dark side to (1) pick up some qualifying caches for Fangsoki's Oldest and Finest Challenge, and (2) pick up some unknown caches that has been solved some time ago.
We parked at the end of a lonely raod and proceeded down the track. It was obvious where some of the heavy rain in the previous week would have seen some of the road underwater, but all good now. As we got about half way long, the wind which unfortunately was coming from the direction of the nearby 'farm' was blowing our way. Man, that wasn't helping matters on a hot day. As we neared GZ we headed bush. This seemed to laert about a million cache guardians in the form of mozzies [:(!] Mozzies and Mr SP don't mix well. So as Mrs SP calmly looked for the cache, Mr SP was running around GZ at high pace, in an effort to ward off the biteys. It was mildly successful.
In the end, as Mrs SP looked from above (that makes sense if you have been there), Mr SP's dance routine too hime to place where he thought "there's a likely place". Those thoughts were confirmed by spotting the cache sitting on the ground underneath it. After signing, we replaced it snugly in the correct position and retreated quickly.
This was the 6th of 7 caches found on today's trip. This one counts towards Number 1 of our journey today.
Thanks ***Tigey Wigey & Piglet***, for showing us this place.
Monday. SP had set themselves a task today - to come to the dark side to (1) pick up some qualifying caches for Fangsoki's Oldest and Finest Challenge, and (2) pick up some unknown caches that has been solved some time ago.

It is hot it is boiling it is time for a very quick walk away from the chicken farm, glad it was a quick find. TFTC
Back in lower Redlands area again today for our second caching day of caching the Serpentine Creek areas. Today it's the northern section from Days Road south. Again, it is a very hot day, which also saw out caching efforts shortened just after lunch when it just became too hot to continue and not suffer any consequences tomorrow. [xx(]
We began our search south of Kidd Street, collecting yellow smiley faces there, and then turned to the road traveling north. Thereupon we had a lunch break at the Charlie Buckler Memorial Sports Ground.
After lunch, it started to become really hot - around 32 degrees, with very high humidity. But we decided to see if we could grab just another half-dozen caches.
It wasn't very pleasant here today - the mozzies were out in force! The 'odour' from the namesake works next door were not too pleasant, either. So were glad of a little hint from one of our party members who had been here before.
Log signed & replaced again. Found at 11.55am on 25th January 2017. TFTC

With a free day, I slipped over to the southside to try and gather up the remaining handful of older caches I needed to finish the Oldest and Finest challenge, with a few others found along the way. Followed the trail, then parked the bike to make my way in, and a wallaby was staring me down not sure if it should run it stay. I managed to snap a pic before heading in to make the find.
This cache is in good condition, and makes smilie #3123. Thanks **Steve & Deb** for showing us this spot. Feel free to discover our trackable TGQNRV .
