Back over from NZ to attend the GCLogan events over the coming week. Day zero today and after attending an event not too far away, decided to head over to Karawatha and search for the dozen or so caches here that I haven't yet found. After finding the Queens Land anniversary caches with a group from the event, I bid them farewell and continued on along the trails. After crossing underneath the motorway and admiring the aerial pathway built for the wildlife, this one was a nice quick find in the most logical place. TFTC
Visiting South East Queensland for a week from Port Macquarie. Today we drove from the Gold Coast to Brisbane, with several stops along the way. Great weather once again paved the way for another decent caching day.Trail definitely not as wet as what the last cacher experienced. Quick enough find once at the right spot. Thanks for the cache
I drove down this way to find a cache for a January challenge and this oldie wasnt too far away. It was drizzling a bit as I headed down the track but not enough to be a problem. At gz, I searched in all the likely places; then I read that it was 16m out. So spread my search and quickly spotted the cache in the black plastic bag in the obvious spot. It was 15m out for me. Cache is in great condition and its great to tick off another oldie. Tftc
After reading the dnf and not seeing it straight away, thought it may have been muggled. But despite the rain persevered and came from a different direction and caught a glimpse of a possibility. . .yes there it was. Restocked container since it was a fairly large one. TFTC. Happy New Year.
How embarrassment. I thought I would nip by after a nearby event. This old cache would fill a gap in my calendar. Getting to GZ i had no issue, but I circled around for about 15 minutes without spying anything. From what I could see on my phone no previous DNFs, so maybe chalk this one up to cache blindness. I shall return. Thanks for the cache maintenance anyways.
Thanks placing this cache as it helps to fill my Jasmer Grid. Cache in good condition.TFTC
Out chasing old caches for one of the many challenges i am working on. I need 13 more to qualify for Queenslands Oldest and Finest Challenge GC4RMW5 and this one fitted the bill. Found a park close by and enjoyed the walk to find this cache. Once at GZ i soon spotted this cache in great condition. Thanks for taking me here and for placing this cache here for us to enjoy
Out and about this morning to pick up a few south side caches on a brisk winters morning day in south east Queensland. Hopefully it warms up a bit
Found a safe place to park the car and made my way to ground zero to locate the cache. Didn’t take long before the cache was in hand and pen applied to the log. Returned the cache to its hiding place and trudged back to the car
A big thanks to the cache owner for making this cache available to be found.
Cheers

Lovely day out with my tribe hunted this down as one of the oldest active caches in QLD. Left a trackable for someone else to discover. Tftc
Catching up on logging my finds. This cache was a target during a day on the Southside chasing some older caches and one or two other specific hides to complete our fourth loop. This area was our old stomping ground so is very familiar, but I’d never been in this particular part before. Found the hide easily by the tell tale black plastic bag and made our mark. Great to add this one to our smiley collection.
An easy walk along here (after the effort of making the kids get out of the car!) Cache found 16m from gz but the hint helped it to be found quickly
I had a lovely walk through Karawatha today. I came all the way down the motorway fire trail and was hoping to get back through to Illaweena Street but there was too much water across the track so I decided to come under the motorway to grab this cache before walking all the way back around to the Casuarina Trail. A nice easy find here, I could see the cache as I approached. Thanks Tigey Wigey & Piglet for the cache!
First attempt was from Gowen Rd. Rechecked map parked at White Ceder Cct. Nice easy bush walkto cache..Cache and
This afternoon, and with the threat of rain storms not coming to light, I was able to escape to the south. My first few geocaches was in the Sunnybank area trying to target a few more of the *Mimosa* creek series, before continuing south targeting a few particular geocaches. It was just a matter of filling in time until attending the scheduled Beenleigh *Logan Geocaching Catch Up* event.
I hadn't planned on stopping at this geocache, but after scanning around possible caches, I couldn't turn down this alluring oldie! So after seeing a track on Geocaching's trails map, I parked on White Cedar Circuit, and jogged along the track pretty much all the way to GZ. It did take a good 5-10 min of walking around, and in the end I found the cache about 10-15 m away in the open. I did glance it earlier, but I had dismissed it for rubbish, and it was only reading the cache page again that I thought it could have been the cache. The cache container and logbook were in good shape, and I dropped a TB for safe keeping and onwards travels. I ended up placing the cache against a log, which was closer to the coordinates and a more intuitive/logical hide. A cool reserve! Thanks Steve & Deb for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. It was also nice to have visited this oldie 12/2003 hidden cache, which is one of Queensland's 100 oldest and active geocaches.

I should have read the cache description and the hint before making my way to this cache, I put it on the list as it was an oldie! It meant that it took me 2 false starts to find the easiest entry point to access this cache. Once I found the right one it was a nice easy walk to the GZ. On approach I found the cache sitting out in the open, once I signed the log I replaced it under the log to try and hide it a bit more. Tftc Steve & Deb
With nice blue skies today I decided to venture out to grab a few caches with the geopup in tow. I decided to start with this one and made a nice quick find to start off the day. Tftc Tigey Wigey & Piglet

TFTC. This cache has not been found in 5 months and it is in bad condition. Container is cracked and toys were spread out on the floor. Put it all back together but this needs maintenance. Did not sabotage cache. Probably destroyed due to the recent storms and the elements. Found thanks to coordinates from 2018 and cache is basically out in the open. No where to sign either so another DNSL.
Mate. Thanks for requesting that this be archived without any contact. I shall organise to get it fixed first before it is archived.

Found it on the opposite side of the track to where it appears on the map, 20 metres from posted coordinates as others have mentioned in their logs. The find was sped up after I found the arrow referred to in a previous log, as I knew then to swap to the other side of the track.
Thanks for keeping this cache alive for 17 years!

It’s always nice to find a cache that has survived this long... as mentioned by many others the co-ordinates are off... so I just searched around 20 metres from GZ...
If you find the arrow embedded in the tree... you’re on the wrong side of the path...

I needed to get out and walk. This was another oldie that I had not visited. I am all on my pat malone out here and I love it. After a bit of circling, I found the cache. Signed the log and returned to where I found it. Thanks Steve and Deb. All good with this cache.
Wow, noisy road, bushy bush & way off find to the coordsbut never the less found by GG noice work!
Wow this is an old cache. We finally found it 20m from listed chords but we are phone caching so that might be completely wrong. Lovely walk in the bush but OMGoodness the Gateay is so noisy. TFTH
Lovely to find such an old Geocaching while out on our walk today. All is in good condition here, although we had to walk a few circles and widen our search until we had what we were looking for. Thanks for placing and maintaining this old one.

Out of the house for work and as it happened I came by close to this grand old cache.
A brisk walk as some exercise? Yes!
Hopefully, this cache will live for many more years

Got tangled up in about five different webs on the main path and then none once searching at GZ. That makes no sense.
Had a good look where the GPS was pointing but came up with nothing. Expanded the search area after re-Reading the description and found the cache.

Awesome, took a little searching as gps was about 15 mtrs from cache hide.
Nice to see all the old logs in cache it would be a shame to see these destroyed as cache is starting to signs of age.
A FP for me

Cache 2 of 20 today! I was on the southside of town, generally hunting QLD's oldest 100 or oldest 500 caches (with a few slipping into the list because they were so close, or filled in a DT hole).
Collected this one quite easily - as previous finders have noted, the cache is 20+ away from where the GPS points, but the hints and prior logs will get you there without issue.
GZ was nice and quiet, I didn't see a soul! Just me and my GPS for company . Good to see some greenery after the recent rains. Lovely sized cache container.

This cache was my second Jasmer target for the afternoon, having just flown in from Melbourne. After finding the right spot to park, I strolled in towards GZ. I read some logs on the way in, which came in rather handy as like previous finders I also found this cache 23 odd meters nth of given coords, rather quickly thanks to my freshly gained intel. Thanks for keeping this old cache alive!
Thanks Steve & Deb for placing this Regular Traditional - this is find 1896 for BFMC

After deciding to tackle some of the older caches for the challenge, I made my way to the 'other side' to find some of these.
Number 1 for the day, easy to find once on the right path! Geodog is enjoying her new hobby, happily bouncing around everywhere.
Thanks for placing the cache here all those years ago. All is good with it.

Out with lisylou and mnance101 reread today after reading logs with spread our wings further and found
Collecting some of Qld's oldest and finest. TeamARF had this one already but left me to my own caching devices! A bit off coords but understandable. Looked in a few likely hidey holes and eventually spotted it! TFTC
I spent the last two afternoons in the Karawatha Forest to visit the geocaches hidden here around. First time beeing here I was fully concentrated to get the 2k geocache only. Now it was time for the remaining stashes. Few of them seem to be muggles (dnf was logged there). All the rest could be located and the logbooks signed.
Many thanks to all the owners for hiding and maintenance on their caches!

Woohoo! Another oldest and finest cache to tick off my list Only last week I was hiring a boat to get to one of them. Thankfully this one was a little easier to get to.
While on our way back to our vehicles after finding the nearby virtual cache we made sure to stop off here and appreciate all things old. Still with the original logbook even if it has seen better days.
It took a little bit of hunting but thanks to the description 1MinnieMoo soon had the beasty in hand. Coords a little off but understandable after so many years.

Out with NyssaFlutterby, TurtleMumma and Omen Innuendo today in Karrawatha, and this cache was high on our list on our way back down from the virtual.
With nothing to the creek, we crossed over, or rather under, nice and dry, and easily made our way along the fence line back to the track to GZ. The signal pointed us to one side of the track, however expanding our search the other side, we soon made the find... along with an archery arrow in the tree right by GZ. While Omen Innuendo extracted the arrow, we set about signing the logbook, and viewing some of the names inside.
The lid of the container has definitely dried out and is broken, hence the logbooks are now a little crispy, from being wet and then drying out, if someone could bring another 3l sistema to replace and perhaps a nice new logbook to add to the old ones, I’m sure it would be much appreciated for the longevity of this one.
Thanks for the cache Steve & Deb.

Another day out chasing caches to fill both hidden date and hidden month. I decided to chase more old caches today. Queens Land was the main one today. It was one hour drive Southside had a good afternoon walking around Karawatha Forest. Pick up few here. Then cross over the M2 to pickup a 2003 cache. So pick up a 2000 and 2003. How 2000 is now my oldest cache.

Needed a traditional cache for the empty space in the calendar and thought I may as well find an oldie and this one suited the plan, so I had a wander in to find it.
As I was ambling along there was a violent rustling in the leaves nearby, which stopped both my heart and me in my tracks, but it was only a goanna making a hasty retreat up a tree. I edged around it hoping it wasn't going to do a drop bear impersonation as I went past and continued on.
Got near GZ and started looking and found something else that gave me a bigger fright than the goanna. There was a hunting arrow lodged in a tree at head height!!! I looked around to see if whoever had fired it was lurking nearby but it seemed to be just me and the goanna. On closer inspection, I could see it had been there a while as the tree had formed a gall around it so I felt a little better then.
I had a bit of a hunt around and found the cache and got my name on the log before tucking it safely back in its hide. On the way back to the car I kept a wary eye out for that goanna but didn't see it again.

We had just found Queensland’s oldest cache and were pumped to find another oldie. We were on a whirlwind drive this morning and were all over the shop picking up random caches. We found this other oldie not to far from where we had been, scratch that it was a lot further than we thought as there was a legit road barrier this time and we weren’t going through it. Not unless we were in an action flick and could speed straight through those fences and watch them go flying in the air all around us. As fun as that sounds, it also sounds expensive.
We turned around like any other sensible people in their 40’s and headed back through the other road barrier we had deemed busted and zigzagged through some streets until we reached as close as we could to GZ by car.
Entering the little forest we strutted off to GZ and started our search, while searching we found an arrow sticking in a tree and started to fear for our lives, is these a random tribe of pigmies out here? After looking at the obvious features and coming up with nothing, we resorted to some past logs and saw someone had said they were 20m out so we packed up the phones, split up and expanded our search until one of us called out, found it!
The log book was having a swim, lucky thing, wish we were in this heat. We emptied all the water out of the container and seal bag, signed the wet log and aired everything out for a bit before putting it all back together and upside down to try to prevent any more water getting in.

Nice hide for an old cache. Container is flooded, drained but the crack will let it get flooded next time.
New container and log book required. Unfortunately the container lid is cracked and the container was full of water. The log book was able to be signed though. We dried out what we could. Thanks for the cache and keeping this old one alive. The coordinates where 20m out for us but the description helped us get the find.
Cheers

I felt like I was stretting myself as I walked down the straight bush path fanging to the left for the last bit. This path opened up to the sunshine which was lovely to see towards the end of the day. I found the cache in the logical spot and when I opened the lid, a little brown lizard
TFTC container is starting to let some water in. Signed log took nothing left nothing. Seen some kangaroos by the creek.
Lovely to find an old cache with the original log book inside. After reading previous logs we followed the suggested co-ords and the hide was quickly spotted.

After the official geo-app had stopped working for the morning, we found ourselves navigating by other methods. My son was discovering how to use c:geo and we were caching by the seat of our pants. We had no map and only a compass to point the way.
The last log mentioned the gates were previously open and when we found an open gate near the school decided to drive in. It was definitely 4WDy and it was taking us towards the cache when the track started veering off in the wrong direction. We followed it and stumbled across a work site where a security guy in a ute drove up to us.
"How the hell did you guys get in here?"
"We came through the open gate"
"You can't be in here, this is a dangerous work site"
He pointed the way out and we were back on the road looking for another way in feeling like we had somehow escaped persecution. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I had remembered another way in and we drove for a reccy. As I got out of the car I tried the geo-app again and it roared back to life and now we had the mapping information we needed in the first place.
My kids grabbed the bluetooth speaker for the walk in and were playing some little known Thirsty Merc songs after we had been talking about them on the drive. My research also pointed out there were some corrected coordinates and we headed in that general direction. Soon enough I had the cache in my hand and it was good to have another old cache in the bag. tftc

I had a variety of different caching goals I was looking at this sunny afternoon in March. I found a cache for my next loop, my traditional loop, this old cache, and a Hidden Month cache.
When I went about finding all these 'QLDS Oldest and Finest' caches, this one slipped through my visual cracks. Not sure how I missed bookmarking it. It was an easy enough find. The gate happened to be unlocked and wide open when I got here, so I drove the next few hundred metres and pulled up 23 metres from GZ. Nothing like 4WDrivey Type caches.
Another one of the oldies ticked off.

With a milestone coming up I headed South early to try and boost our numbers, targeting a variety of caches between Wacol and Kingston. Older caches are always prominently on my radar when I visit an area, so a short diversion was made to grab this one. Still in good nick, had bopeep at some of the older log entries.

Visiting the South side today to grab some older caches. This is a nice piece of bushland for a short walk. The co-ordinates are a reasonable bit off (I'll blame continental drift!), but a look around suggested some likely hides and I soon had the cache in hand. Met a big friendly dog on the way back. TFTC!
I have been chasing the oldest caches in Queensland so had this one targeted. Today I gave my wife a break and took my 2.5 year out for a sleep in the car and then a bushwalk once near gz. It was such a lovely time. It was the first time that Oskar understood a 'treasure' hunt. He found lots of treasures himself like sticks and leaves and paperbark. He was then excited to see inside daddy's treasure. Once found he wanted to go find more treasures. TFTC.

Monday. SP had set themselves a task today - to come to the dark side to (1) pick up some qualifying caches for Fangsoki's Oldest and Finest Challenge, and (2) pick up some unknown caches that has been solved some time ago.
We parked at the logical point and strolled down the bush path, CITOing as we went. By the time we returned, there was a sizeable haul - unfortunately. When we got to GZ we searched and searched - nothing. In desperation, we turned to previous logs. Ah! Lots of finders stating they had used previously posted corrected co-ordinates. So we went back in time - a fair way - and found the log. Armed with the new information, the cache was found in quick time, and a good sized cache it was as well.
This was the 2nd of 7 caches found on today's trip. This one counts towards Number 1 of our journey today.
Thanks ***Tigey Wigey & Piglet***, for showing us this place.

I spent some time in the area today with Selva Girls caching our way along a power trail. As this fine old cache was close by, Selva Girls kindly agreed to stop so I could make the find. Using the corrected coordinates the container was found quickly and my name added to the log. Tftc Tigey Wigey & Piglet
Like others, I wasn't prepared with the corrected coords so I had to go back through the logs to find them. Once all that was done I quickly located the cache right where it should have been. TFTC
Out today on the Aouthside to collect some of the oldest caches. Did as everyone else did but read the about page and it was quickly located
Came after this one as part of Queenslands oldest caches challenge. Picked up a TB but there is one still listed here (the skull one) that is not in the cache?
Like others before me I also searched in vain at GZ until reading logs to check further afield. Found cache about 20 meters from GZ

Got to location and had a look around before reading some of the precious logs, soon broadened my search and found what I was looking for! Came across a fox and a snake on my walk in here :/ had come right around the border of the park and then through the swampy area before deciding to backtrack and come through the middle of the park..... Tis officially snake season, caches beware. Oh and I have dropped off TB too! TFTC

Miss 13 had to be dropped off early this morning for a school sports carnival and the puzzle I'd planned on finding took a lot less time than I expected. So I had a bit of time on my hands before I had to be at work.
I thought about the caches along the motorway that popup on my GPS every morning and I remembered that this one was a golden oldie so I decided to swing by and have a look.
I parked about 300m from GZ and wandered in along the path. As I walked, I read the cache description and a couple of recent logs which said that the coordinates were a little out. So, when I got to GZ, I concentrated on the description and made a quick find.
I love finding old caches that still have the original log book. I signed my name and wandered back out.

Best to enter off white cedar circuit and walk from there. My gps was off by 25m. It wanted me on the other side of the track as per previous finder. This is my last cache for the oldies challenge. I went via cache description for a quick find.
After a nice walk closer to home, I set out to track down some older caches and finish off my list for Queensland's Oldest and Finest. My target here was this cache. Along the path, there were two weird guys pointing up in a tree. A bit strange...
At GZ, Mr Garmin was pointing to the other side of the path. But I read the cache description and changed my search area, where I made a quick find. Thanks, Tigey Wigey & Piglet

Out and about in search of old caches and I ended up on this side of the Gateway.
Looking at the map there sure have been a lot of caches pop up in Karawatha. I really should visit the other side of the Gateway again some day.
After a nice wander and the cache was soon located.
Thanks for the cache Tigey Wigey & Piglet. Cheers!!

Having some spare time this afternoon I decided to do this cache which was less than 2 km from where I live. Z and looked around in the most obvious spots and where my GZ told me I should be looking. No luck. IO read the description and within, it gave a clue to me - looked around and saw what I needed but opposite Found it and signed the log. TFTC
This morning arrived at GZ early to pick up a few oldies in the area. Didn't take the corrected coordinates with me so began the search. Quick find in the end, TFTC TWP
With a day off work, we decided to head to Brisbane and find some more of the oldest 100 caches in Queensland.
We found a suitable parking spot and headed off for the short walk. The cache was found after a short hunt and on our way back out the estate, we drove around to look at the massive houses. Some look like they have been abandoned and some are just beautifully maintained.
Thanks fore bringing us here

I have been picking up a few of the older caches around Brisbane. Today, this one was my target. I found a nearby parking spot and wandered down the trail to GZ. Luckily, I read some previous logs that gave new coords, as my phone had me 21metres out! Using these new coords, the cache was quickly found and the log signed. I rehid the cache and set off for one on the other side of the motorway. TFTC
An early evening trip here to score this cache. While here, I first went to get another cache across the motorway and on the way back towards the estate and car stopped here.
Good thing I had checked some recent logs as they pointed me away from the coords towards where the container was found.
All good here. Great to have these old caches still going strong - for me this was another month ticked off in the Jasmer challenge. TFTC, Tigey Wigey & Piglet!

Out and about with firebreather03 collecting a few more oldies. We ended up with two from the north side and two from the south. We grabbed this one on our way home. Using others CO-ords we made a nice quick find here. TFTC Tigey Wigey & Piglet

Whew. Finally grabbed this one. It is about 10 meters from where my gps has said twice. Left a tb. Tftc love the oldies.
I am slowly gathering up founds on these older caches but this one had somehow slipped through the cracks. So being out on the hunt for others in this part of town it was added to the to-do list for the day. This one made a pleasant change for the morning and we were able to locate it quite quickly - the caching eyes were awake at long last. Another oldie under the belt. TFTC.
After finishing work meetings not too far from here I decided to go and find a few caches before heading back to my hotel for dinner. After finding the oldest cache in Queensland not too far from here I had time for a few more caches. This was another pretty old cache which I eventually found using the coordinates from a recent log. TFTC, Biggles.
Needed a quick walk for "exercise with a purpose today" (I. e. Geocaching) so what better than a cache placed in 2003? Our GPSrs took us to the middle of the track , but the cache was some 10 meters from the immediate side of the track. Found in good condition at 10.35 am on 13th June 2015. TFTC.
We found the entry track ok and headed down the path and then headed left near GZ. We had a good look around but could not turn up the hide so started reading previous logs to find a different set of co ords from the previous finder which we used and found spot on. A neat little hide. We completed the signing duties and re hid TFTC.
Up north today to drop Geo Wife off to a birthday morning tea so I had a little time to grab a cache in the area.
I had this one ear marked being one of the 100 oldest caches still existing in Qld so it was an obvious choice.
I parked near the trail head and proceeded towards GZ, it was a great day so the walk was very pleasant!!
I soon arrived at GZ and started searching but after a while I realised I may be searching in the wrong area.
I checked previous logs and unearthed alternate coords so I searched in the new area.
The GPS was jumping all over the place but I still couldn't track down my prize, then I spotted something which I had discounted before and sure enough there was the cache.
I am aware that the GPS is very unstable in this area so my coords may not be completely accurate but they are what I came up with today.
Thanks Steve & Deb (Tigey Wigey & Piglet) Thanks for this old one now added to my found list.

Day 16 of the mega caching tour of Queensland, and the two week trip was predominantly spent finding some of the states' older placed caches, as well as some of the more difficult terrain caches. After an early morning finish last night...it was early again to find some more 'old school' caches. Parked in the nearby estate, and followed the trail into GZ where the cache was quickly spotted.

this was a bit of an adventure as we got stuck on the toll road! Got pinged for two tolls before we escaped and managed to find this one. Thanks for the cache Andrew and Maryan
