As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm temporarily archiving this to keep it from continually showing up in search lists. Just contact us when you have the cache repaired, and assuming it still meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

It is possible that this cache has been removed by either muggles or the elements, but it seems equally possible that it has simply been buried by the shifting sands. So should you be lucky enough to find this cache please remove it and contact us for further instructions as to what to do. We have therefore replaced it with a new cache deeper within the dune complex and less prone to being buried by the shifting sands. “The Lost cache & 90 Miles of Shifting Sands†GCMGX4

After fighting off the many brave advances of the snakes and goannas, we finally made it onto the beach, and confidently strode off in search of our treasure. It was such a great walk that we forgot to re-check the GPS, and had to double back along the beach to the spot marked x on our wee map. But, try as we might, and we tried, we couldn't find our prize. We re-shaped a major portion of the dunes in our quest, but as they say, shifting sands something or other...
Maybe next time we'll bring an excavator, definately worth the trip.

Walked along the beach on a fine sunny day, followed by a million flies.

Searched the area around GZ without much success. Sad

An easy find.

After setting up camp for the night not too far away, this was a good starting point for a day of 4wding and caching. We arived at GZ and looked around for a couple of minutes, but then got distracted and lazed around for 30 mins. I said "I know it is there" and eventualy we actually looked and found it in about 15 seconds. Took the click clack balls and left a clicky frog. The places around here are awesome! Thanks for the trip!

We had just done Now(a) or Never cache and as we got onto the main road flip a coin left to Orbost and the 90 mile cache or right back to Lakes Entrance to the caravan.
As you can all see, the cache won Big Grin
I figured out where we needed to turn off the highway but in hindsight should have entered a waypoint in the GPSr as the roadsign was broken off and I ended up a few kms east of where I really wanted to be.
heading south to the beach all these little tracks tempted me too much so just let the mighty Nissan Patrol find it's own way there on lots of little tracks. (nothing hard at all, didn't even get it out of 2wd Sad )
We park the car at the carpark and with an approx 750metre trek down the beach find the cache with no problems.
What a fabulous place to hide a cache just kms and kms of beach from horizon to horizon.
The geodogs Bonnie & Zena had a mighty time running along the beach.
We took the Platypus, Wicked witch mighty bean, Ladybug and frog.
We left some knicher knocker balls, Ocky strap, Grasshopper and red glitter.
Many thanks Biggles Bear for a fabulous caching experience.

Found by Mary & David at 1810. Another BB taste of magic. This isolated and almost unending beach should be a must for overseas visitors. Think we walked further along the beach than necessary too, if only we'd used a different track. However, the one we did use was good 2WD standard through true bush where several wallabies watched us. Wish we'd had time to investigate some of those side tracks with such fascinating names as Humbug Road and Goanna Landing. The ocean view was breathtakingly beautiful from the top of the steps, and the beach walk lovely in the evening light, which emphasised the greys and greens of the dune plants and every ripple in the sand. Mary frolicked in bare feet and we took 30 minutes car-cache-car. How many caches could you hide along the beach at minimum allowable spacing? Took Cruella, left Platypus. Now back to Lakes Entrance for some wine and exotic seafood. Thanks once more to Biggles Bear.

Did this cache with Coordin8z.

Fully endorse his comments. Had a lovely morning out nevertheless. A helicopter would have been useful!!

Spent ages driving around the gravel tracks trying to find a way to the beach. Being in a 2WD hire car we didn't want to drive along every track in the area. Later on we saw a local leisure map which indicated that a 4WD is a must for most tracks.
I think finding it by boat must be easier.
Some indication of the correct track to take would be very helpful.
Had a nice coffee at the Lake Tyers Waterwheel.
Good luck to all those trying to do this cache!

Thought we were being clever and taking a short cut (never works). Ended up with a long walk along the beach. Not sure if it was just because the tide was in, but we had trouble finding any hard sand to walk on.
Made an interesting discovery. Foxes know where the hard sand is. We followed the fox tracks back from the cache location and made it back in much better time.
GPS lock was very good, although we probably could have found the location by following the bear tracks left in the sand.
Took Japanese bag, left Cruella Deville, guy rope and lady bug.
Thanks Biggles Bear.
