Big day out up on Mt Donna Buang scooping up the more remote caches. This was the sixth of the day, and took me a bit of time to figure it out. The clue, especially the tree, really helped, and got me to GZ and soon found the cache. TFTC.I did find at the cache site, literally at GZ, the back off a Garmin GPS, yellow, looks like an Trek kind of device - did any one lose the back? If they did message me and can get it to you somehow - its in my possession now.

Found it with difficulty. Changed the Hint , let me know if it is helpful.thanks to Nutcache for placing the Cache, great spot, good views and the wind through the Tower creates an Eerie feel.My turn to look after it.Regards from Victourer
This cache is available for adoption. Please contact Cache Guardians using the Message system.
I’m always a bit dubious when the previous note was a DNF, and no one has found it in the past year.
I was totally drenched after walking up the Mount Donna Buang walking track, so I nothing to lose and couldn’t exactly get any wetter than i already was.
Bingo, I finally found the caches but widening my search, my gps was out by 11metres. Cache totally dry. Dropped Geocoin

With a whole Cup weekend of geocaching planned, we headed out to the wilds of Mt BD. The plan was to get some bush walking done well off grid. Found it after settling our fears after seeing the devastation by the 5 G crew. Area was well cleared at GZ but a little wider search helped locate the Cache. TFTC
Thank you nutcache, out for a walk this beautiful Sunday morning, it's cool up here and the wind is blowing, a bit makes for an eerie noise through the tower, for a moment I was a bit stumped until I started cataloging how stumped I actually was. Great place to go poking through the bush. Thanks and regards from Victourer
another precious lord of the rings treasure done and another interesting locale
positives:
the best reception of the day: you can sit underneath the tower and bathe in the five bars and reconnect with the outside world
negatives:

soaking up all these waves some might think we are destined to catch a certain virus
sadly we are scheduled to be in the final wave of vaccinations to hopefully those nutjobs have no idea what they’re on about
hard to tell which is more sinister: a global conspiracy emitting viral 5g waves or barad-dûr

We needed a big outdoor adventure to re-calibrate our mental health. And after much umm’ing and ahh’ing decided looking for remote caches, with sanitiser and social distancing, would be a reasonable approach.
Spent around 7 hours behind Warburton and saw nobody for the day. We decompressed and are calmer, ready to re-enter near-lockdown.
Made our way up the hill, past the telecomm’s towers buzzing away “ahh how’s the serenity” and started our hunt. iPhone seemed to want us around 10 metres southwest of the actual cache so we clambered over and under every fallen tree before consulting the hint and eventually discovering the cache. Thanks Nutcache for a great adventure and mental health break.

Cache and log book were in great shape and the cache was right where it was supposed to be. (MD)
The location of this cache could be found following the note to this cache. Unfortunately the container was not there. TFTC
TFTC great hide. Not a great idea wearing shorts in summer just needed to keep an eye out for reptiles.

As a Cache Guardian we are maintaining this cache but do not own this cache so this note is to adjust the hint :
The cache is approximately 45 meters NE from the towers boundary fence.
The co-ords are slightly out but possibly within 5 meters of the GZ.
Our Zero point showed that you need to continue further North to make an easy find following the original hint still.
Happy Caching and Good Luck.

Today was a perfect day to go out to the hillsides of the Warburton area and help 88andy88 do some maintenance and find some awesome caches with some awesome bush scenic views and just get away from the hustle and bustle of life.
So here we are.
This was a great little hunt with us searching far and wide and after 88andy88 PAF'd we made the find.
Love the massive towers.

11/6/17 4:24 pm #2379 Taking a meander in the hills today with RoxyP hunting a few different caches and performing some maintenance while at it.
The towers here are so tall and in their own way quite gracefull. There was not a breath of wind today up here either.
This one took us quite a while to find and under a PAF from the last finder made the find.
Read the notes before this log to assist you all in finding this.
Thanks for the adventure.

This looked a challenge with a spate of DNFs in recent times. But the attraction of 'unlove' will inevitably draw a moth to the flame...
I had to piece together all the clues for this one. It's not hard to get if you do the research.
It was approaching midnight. The 'control burn' fires on Mt Little Joe had left a smoky haze in the air... crisp, still air. Very strange for this altitude to be so still.
I journeyed up the track certain that I must be the only soul on the mountain at this hour. Soon the droning hum of the towers was heard. I ventured into the bracken. It was a little different to what I'd imagined but it certainly made progress rather slow going.
I came up empty after my first sweep of the area. So next time I more closely followed in the steps of previous finders. I noticed certain landmarks and went to investigate. And there it was, as plain as day!
The cache is in immaculate condition, even after all this time out in the elements. I was happy to give it some much needed loving under the light of a silvery moon.
And then it was time for me to disappear into the night once more, before the Eye of Sauron could detect me.
Thanks Nutcache, for another enjoyable moonlight adventure.

On a walk with friends, one a cacher (Clint&Abby) in the early hours from the carpark to the top of Donna Buang. We had a quick search and believe we know where the cache should have been, but alas, it wasn't. DNF for us.
Looked for this cache on the way back down from To Summit Up but alas, there were too many stumps and I had too little time before dark will be upon me, this will have to wait for another day as I need to get out of this forest and back to the geovehicle.

With a few free this afternoon from work I decided to head across to Warburton and grab a couple of caches, the weather was still on the ordinary side with the drizzle stopping but the cloud cover still low. It was a eerie feeling heading up towards the gz to be confronted by the high fence and outline of the buildings and tower through the cloud, almost a forgotten and lost caged area from Jurassic Park, ok wrong movie time to move on... I headed to the gz and after some initial searching I spotted the likely hiding spot, thanks to the hint and crossed a few fallen logs and soon had the cache in hand. I happily signed the log, quick check for any velociraptors that may be on the loose and headed on then on my way up to the next cache. Thanks Nutcache for the cache.
I was in the area today doing some maintenance on some of Nutcache's Lord of the Rings series and collecting a bit of unlove too. What a great opportunity to do both this one was!
I had brought with me a replacement container because the previous three logs kind of indicated that this one may be gone. Thankfully though the replacement container was not needed as I found the cache! Which was good for a number of reasons.
A - I found a cache
B - I found a lot of unlove
C - I have a spare container, which was handy later in the day when I did find a cache was missing!
Win Win Win. I can confirm the cache is there, it's a tricky find and the co-ords are all over the place, but a bit of persistence, reading the clues and messaging a previous finder all helped. (some helped more than others though)
Thanks nutcache for another great location!

Out for the day with geokids, unable to find it. Lots of fallen trees & other rubbish but none that looked like a tree stump. Both my GPS & phone were jumping around a bit & batteries low on both so gave up
I think I found the right stump, though, but nothting in there. I had too little time to look further...
After a while of hunting (and flicking off a few leeches) called it quits on this one with the GPS jumping all over the place and coming up with nothing. Next time!

Find #847
I teamed up with my caching partner Stemicmitsar and headed out in search of unloved caches. Mt Donna Buang and it's environs contained many suitable caches.
Confronted by a locked gate (see photo) but with no signage indicating that entry was forbidden, we proceeded on foot to GZ.
There were many suitable hiding places and our GPSr were jumping around quite a bit due no doubt to being in close proximity of a mobile phone tower.
Initially the hint didn't help so after more searching, we resorted to reading some previous logs. A couple of logs indicated that we needed to be looking further out than where the co-ords placed us. hmmm
I placed myself near the part of the structure referred to in the hint, pointed my GPSr roughly in the direction of the indicated GZ and projected a waypoint as per the hint.
On moving to that waypoint, I could see that it would indeed take me further out. I climbed onto a log and from that vantage point, spotted a likely looking hide. A fallen log provided a land bridge over all the debris on the ground and the object I had spotted proved to be the hide. SL TFTC

Found @ 8:08pm, find # 2889.
Today I was out and about with Biggles1024 and the main aim was to boost up the numbers of unloved days from the unloved caches.
We continued up the road to this cache, we reached GZ and had a look around but nothing was found, after a bit more of a search we had a look at the hint which did not help at first, so it was a bit more reading and a bit more thinking, by now we searching a bit further out than the indicated GZ when Mark discovered and area that matched the hint, when we got close enough the cache was found and the unloved days collected..
Thanks to Nutcache for placing this cache.

Today my caching partner in crime, sedgwickdave and I were headed towards Warburton on our regular cache run day. The weather was much better then yesterday with no real sign of rain.
After finding the nearby xambo4u cache, we headed up to this one, so I could have another go at this one after a few recent finds. It was again taking some time without any luck when I heard dave yell out "Found it" just a few metres from where I was searching.
Thanks to Nutcache for the hide, another one in the LR series complete.

Up the area to retrieve my unreleased cache as I had planted it within 20 metres of this location. I had planted it some three weeks ago and my gps had missed installing some caches in the area. Easy fjind after using the hint due to so much damaged with fallen debris in the area. This is a lovely area of Victoria and on a day like today it is at its best. Parked the car on Donna Buang Rd and walked up roday doing the other cache that I had missed out on. I was disappointed when I walked up with the group that this is where we stopped for lunch, right next to a rely station. I have relocated my cahce and hope it to be realsed soon.
Thanks for the cache Nutcache.

Yes it is still there!
A note in the log book says that this is a replacement for the original that was destroyed by earthworks. It is about another 5 to 10 m further out.

At the location where the cache should be a bunch of trees where fallen down blocking whatever is under it. We could not find a cache.
This brings up my 150 (in 9 months) and 8/9 for the afternoon. Pointed out which stump it should be to Awegs and made him clamber in and get it (there's some experience showing on two counts . Took ball puzzles, left several other bitz'n'pieces. TFTC found with Awegs, Rach and Deanovo
Found what seemed like the perfect hiding spot, in the exact location, but no luck . Searched around further for 50 mins but still nothing.

It seems a long time since I started caching and had checked out the locations of the caches in this series using various mapping tools - but I never seemed to be able to summon the time or energy to tackle most of them. Today, it was such nice weather that I decided to take a day off work and head up here and do a few of the many caches on the mountain. It took a bit of poking around before I spotted a likely spot for this one and I was happy when I made my way there to discover the cache. There's been a bit of bulldozing nearby over the last couple of years and it's become a bit of a haystack.

Thanks Nutcache - sorry for the late log, I'm a long way behind

What a nightmare, but found it eventually after about 45 mins and by then running late for my appointment. At least it looks like I wasn't the only one who ended up searching the bulldozed stuff. in the snow as well. Not fun.
I liked the link to the Two Towers, but for some reason (the towers, perhaps?) the GPSrs were bouncing around all over the place. It was a bit of a battle (against terrain, rather than orcs) in order to get to GZ, but I made it eventually and came up with the goods. Thanks for the cache, NutCache.
Found at 13:22 with SamCarter. Our GPSrs were having trouble settling, perhaps because of the two towers. After a bit of scrambling I spotted a bit of a trail and suggested SamCarter head in the general direction to have a look, with success. Thanks Nutcache
Found at 1445 hours, there are some views here not to far from GZ.
This was quicker to find the cache than to try and log it.
Had to wait till 1900 hours as the web site did not allow the year to change.
Due to the fact that it was not after midnight in Seattle USA.
So Happy New Year.
Actually went looking for this cache 22/11/09.
When I realised that Saruman and his orks had been busy attacking the Ents in the area!
So I notified the owner it was in need of Maintenance.

Saruman and his orks sure have been busy attacking the Ents in the area! I have replaced the cache in a similar spot a short distance from the original.
Came here today to find this cache. The area where the cache should be has been bulldozed. The tree stump no longer exists.
Just a note the area all around the structure has been cleared to about 50-60 metres.

Nice walk up the hill only to find that there has been a lot of clearing going on up here. I suspect due to Black Saturday. Both GPS and iPhone had me standing on a large pile of logs. Approached GZ from many directions and arrived at the same location each time. I fear the cache has been bulldozed into the ground. I have a photo which I will send to the owner. Kems
We had a nice hike out to this infrequently visited cache. This Christmas walk was pleasant, compared to back in Ottawa. Minus 28 degrees Celsius is brutal!
Cache is in good condition.
Thanks!

Found at 1320. Parked roadside just down from the start of the walking track, and I raced up to grab this one while Rob decided to wait in the car. Enjoyed the jog up passing by two muggle walkers. Nice walking track. Would be interested to continue along the narrower walking track someday.

With Clarkey88, this was our second of the day. Walked pretty much straight to the cache, quite easy. A nice walk up the hill, and what an unexpected sight the tower is!
Didn't have too much trouble with this one. I came up Mt Donna Buang a couple of months ago when it snowed and while driving past could see the path up here was perfectly smooth snow. None of that today though, picked a good day for it.
ended up finding this one around 4:00 on sunday arvo... co-ords were all over the place, pacing it in (and some good common sense) was def the best way to finding this one, contents were quite damp, T-n L-n
hungry leeches had us bowling back down the hill to the car fairly quickly... and onto the next one !

We had come up to do the tourist thing at the top (Oh, all right - Chewin' did the cache there), and we stopped to do the walk on the way down. I was hoping for a view from one of the towers, but the wizards of telecommunications had surrounded them with barbed wire fences.
A short grovel around had the cache in hand.
Thanks, Robmc.

A lovely walk in from the road on a sunny day! Found the cache where my gps said it was although it took me a minute or so longer. Cache was again very wet so I spent a little time drying it, and the log was thankfully dry. T wet mondo, L Camel, and the cache a little higher in its hiding spot as the lack of drainage may be the problem. Thanks Nutcache.
I found this one at 17:30 on the way home from AWG57 in Healesville. It was a fantastic walk from where I left the car to GZ as it snowed the entire way !!!! How sensational is that? Caching in the snow in Victoria on the last Sunday of September .
With only the co-ordinates to guide me, I was able to find the cache quite easily and so give it its "Happy New Year" for 2006. Unfortunately, it's a little worse for wear as the container was half full of water (my second find like that for today ). The log book was still dry however so I could write in it easily enough. I emptied the water out of the container and replaced it upside down. Hopefully that will keep it drier.
TNLNSL. Thanks Nutcache.

Found at 11.50am GAFF5. In the company of sbalogh53 as we were on our way to conquer the Millgrove Track. We stopped by to limber up on this cache which proved to be just right in physical exertion. Found without any problems, but my GPSr was totally useless showing 250 metres at GZ. Not much of a view from here any more as the trees have grown, however it was still a nice walk. Thanks Nutcache.

Found by sbalogh53 at 11:45 on 13/12/2005 in the company of pprass. This was an easy find after a pleasant walk up the hill. Unlike pprass's GPS, mine took me to within a meter of the cache with an EPE between 10m and 20m. The cache was quite sticky inside possibly caused by a gum pen or whatever.
Took: Marble
Put: Mondo USA 1860
Thanks Nutcache.
Now... on to the Millgrove Track.

This was the ninth and final find for the day while out with Team Crackers. As the light was fading we embarked on the steady uphill walk to GZ, the days exercise must have taken its toll on Team Crackers, when I reached the clearing they were no longer in sight. Headed off in search of the cache and found it in the first place that I looked. The noise off the wind buffeting off the two towers was phenomenal, I thought that an aircraft was flying low overhead. The log was signed and the cache replaced as the first small drops of rain began to fall.

Thanks Nutcache for another great addition to the LR series.

Found at 17:30, this was the eighth and final find for the day while out with Cracker Girl. We found a place to park at the beginning of the track and once again Cracker Girl explained the significance of the placement. She became impatient and took off ahead and by the time we got there she had the cache in hand. The noise coming from the structures in this really strong wind was amazing and even more amazing we made it back to the car before the skies opened up.

Picked up TB Tadpole as its owner was concerned about his wellbeing. Will drop him into Dead Marshes where he should feel more at home.
Invigorating walk on this cold and windy day. Beautiful trees - lots of noise with the wind blowing them every which way. Took keyring and left fluro starter. thanks Nutcache.
Spotted final destination a fair distance. Very apt title. Looking forward to doing the rest in the LOTR series.
Found cache on the 8.3.05 2.00pm ... container had a cracked lid and side of case , so muggles may have had a look ????? all seemed OK inside , A Nice Stroll up the hill .
Went for another stroll up the hill 10.3.05 7.45 pm and replaced the container with about the same size, the low clouds had set in for the evening so it was and fresh breathing that crisp evening air !!!!!

Found by 4 Men and a Lady in convoy with Alsume and in the company of Steph.
As Alsume said the GPSr readings were coming up differnet but not too bad and good enough to lead us to the most obvious place.
Took Hair Brush
Left TB Tadpole
Many Thanks to Nutcache for leading us on this very pleasant walk to GZ

Found at 2:25pm with 4MAAL & Steph. Found this one fairly quickly after making the walk along the track, even though the GPS reception was pretty scratchy. We did resort to decrypting the clue, given that our 2 GPSr's gave somewhat different readings. After we had made our logs at GZ, the GPSr's finally decided that we were in the right spot after all!
took Flintstones car
left sticky gecko

Found at 7:00pm. The last of six caches on our caching tour of Warburton Part III. The satellites had gone home for the night. We knew where to start, but with only 2 satellites above and another five way out of view on the horizon, we had no idea how far to walk up. After about 15 minutes, we decrypted the clue and knew straight away (by sound) where we should be. A good days caching but at an average of one and a half hours per cache we came up with only 6 for the day. I think we are looking for at least two more trips in the near future.
Thanks Nutcache from D & S B-A. Left nothing, took nothing.

1710 five for today, nearly dug up a stump looking for this one, gps was way off. finally found the one we needed, took spy ear and left a key ring thanks nutcache
The dark was almost upon us as Kiwideb and I began the walk up to this one. It was a lovely walk to GZ and, unlike a lot of previous cachers before us, both our GPS's led us straight to the cache. Maybe the satellite Gods were smiling on us.
I took some earplugs and left a sticky alien in its place. Thanks, Nutcache, for a lovely walk and for the cache.
PS Why the name change?

After the last cache Muzza and I did of yours this one was a lovely change. The light was slowly fading when we headed to this one.
The GPS gods were smiling on us most of the way up. Cache was found at 5:55pm I swapped at pentorch for an alien.
Thanks for the cache Nutcache, it was such a pleasent walk up and back not your normal bushbash or hill climb thankgoodness.

Nice easy find (gps not used). This is a very historic stump! Look around and you will see why. Have been to this very place before but didn't know about the cache. For those of you who don't like the growling, there is a nice camp site on top of the hill but do keep it clean and small.
Watch out for the deposits left by [:(!] foul 2 leged animals [v] near by. I burnt the paper they left.
Took shampo left mini magnets & marble.
Thanks Nutcache
Ps by the planing permit posted, looks like the 2 may have more friends and/or more goods to hold soon.

No exchange made

Found by Mary & David at 1500. Nearly fooled by the name change when we arrived home to log it. A nice walk up from the road. Good to see some lush green bush, although the atmosphere of the place was spoilt by the constant growling by the guardians of the nearby structures. Took auto litterbag, left rednose badge, shampoo and spy ear. Thanks to Nutcache.
Found this one with ease. Used the GPS right up to the spot. (AQll sattelites beaming in at full strength.)
It's a very hot day down the mountain & we wanted to see if it would be cooler up here. No joy on that score.
Took the Army knife & left some earplugs to combat the demon at the base of each tower.
regards
Ian & Penny

Found at 12.50 after a brisk walk up the track. Perfect day for a walk in the forest, the birds were about, it smelt lemony and fresh. The GPS was almost useless at the top so relied upon the hint. Easily found the hidey hole but retrieving was a different matter, must have stumpy arms! Found a useful tool to help retrieve and entered the note in the log. Took magnetic clips and left Chinese army knife. Another great forest cache.
As I journeyed to the cache site, I was ever watchful for Orcs, or even worse the dreaded Nazgul. Fourtunately my pilgrimage was uneventful and my hunt fruitful. My spirit was lifted by the beautiful scenery, however the Dark tower with it's constant noise and billowing noxious pollutants is a blight on this once elegant landscape.
Took Flashing Safety Light and left Flintstones car from 'The Lake'. Thanks Nutcache.
